Rumours were spreading a little while ago that Balmain were set to launch a cheaper diffusion line for its customer – well now the finer details have been revealed.

The Pierre Balmain diffusion line will now be available from December this year, including everything from knitwear, denim and tailoring for both men and women.

With prices starting at just £104 for a T-shirt, and stretching to £795 for evening-wear – which is pretty cheap considering Balmain are a massively high-end French fashion label.

“We see Pierre Balmain as a new and distinct brand that is inspired by the successes and history of a great house, but offers a look and product that respond to the needs and desires of today’s marketplace,” said Alain Hivelin, Balmain chairman and chief executive officer.

“Our goal is to position Pierre Balmain as a new global brand that will be established in all the key international markets.”

The luxury fashion house announced plans to launch a secondary line in May this year, one that will ultimately target a younger customer and be created by an entirely new design team, and will not be overseen by the label’s new creative director, Olivier Rousteing, reports Vogue UK.

That’s our Christmas wish list sorted this year.
