Our combined love of film, fashion and the famous means that the Oscars is like our Christmas! It’s the first thing we earmark in our diaries and circle on our calendars, and once you see the fabulous looks from the red carpet at the 84th Annual Academy Awards, you’ll understand why!

Channelling Nicole Kidman’s Balenciaga frock from a few years ago, Emma Stone was one of our favourites of the night, looking literally red hot in a Giambattista Valli gown. Also on our best of the best dressed list is Milla Jovovich, who set the bar early on in a stunning one-shouldered Elie Saab Couture dress! Also rocking Elie Saab was The Artist’s Berenice Bejo, who floated along the carpet in a turquoise gown.

‘Best Actress’ nominees Rooney Mara and Michelle Williams looked breathtaking in their respective Givenchy and Louis Vuitton dresses, while The Help’s Octavia Spencer made our jaws drop to the floor in a sparkly Tadashi Shoji number – divine!

Looking like one of the coveted accolades, Stacy Keibler shined and shimmered next to George Clooney on the carpet in one of our favourite looks from the Marchesa autumn/winter 2012 collection, which made her a definite MFL best dressed contender.

Hollywood royalty Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie swanned along the red carpet just before the guests were rushed inside the theatre to take their seats, with Angelina practically putting everyone else in the shade in her black Atelier Versace gown that was slashed up to the thigh. Gwyneth Paltrow, another late arrival, also blew everyone away in her Tom Ford cape dress – we’ll be talking about that one for years!

Usually right about now, we’d present you with a very well thought-out top ten best dressed list, but as it’s the Oscars, that’s going straight out the window. We’ve narrowed down our favourites to the best of our ability and are leaving the rest up to you. We want your opinions, so don’t forget to vote in our poll at the end! Good luck – it’s a tricky one!
