Accessorising With The Art of Ink

30th July 2008 2:19 pm

angelinajolie_tattoo.jpgI recently read an article in Vogue (August 2008) about how tattoos have become the latest fashion accessory. Not to be biased (I have three of my own), but I completely agree. The image and statement that they portray can sometimes create more of an impact that a fabulous pair of earrings or designer bag.

Tattoos have now become less of a taboo and more of a do, with more celebrities than you can count on your hands sporting a variety of designs….the most notable celebrity tattoo fan being the infamous Angelina Jolie, with various scripts and sayings artfully adoring her back and arms.

The art of the tattoo isn’t really a modern phenomenon, though. Even Sir Winston Churchill’s mother had a tattoo of a snake encircling her wrists, not to mention that he himself had a tattoo of an anchor.

So, if you are thinking about getting inked, I suggest you make sure that the design won’t go out of fashion like a seasonal designer bag. Rather make it special and personal to you. After all, you’ll want your body art to last as long as any classic designer piece right?.

We love designer fashion, but we love a damn good bargain, too, so while we might lust after Lanvin one minute, we’ll be traipsing to Topshop the next.

You guys are the only reason we get up at 6am to cover the royal wedding and go to bed 5am after the Oscars – we’re dedicated to bringing you the juiciest gossip from the fashion world and delivering the best shopping guides we can muster, because hey, we’re just doing our job. And it’s a good job we love it!
