Skewed Inspiration: Victoria Beckham’s Muse are David’s Baggy Jeans
If David Beckham is the source of inspiration for Victoria Bekcham’s jeans collection for men, then I can see why Kitson, Victoria’s go-to boutique in Los Angeles, turned down the idea to carry the men’s line. Victoria confessed to DNR that her husband’s comfort and sensibilities were what she had in mind as she designed dVb’s men’s denim line. Gasp!
Here’s David at the Teen Choice Awards in L.A. and my word are those jeans a tad bit baggy! Hopefully Victoria threw in some fitted, skinny jeans and some added variety because what her hubby had on at the award show would not go down well with a lot of today’s male consumers.
dVb, Victoria’s fashion line, has experienced some tumultuous times of late due to the failure of stockist opting to sell her denim collections. As for why dVb’s men’s line may not see the light of day, Kitson press cited poor sales of dVb’s women’s jeans and Victoria’s sloppy promotional presence at boutique events as the primary reasons for not carrying the men’s collection.
But then again, these reasons are tame and can be easily swallowed as opposed to telling Ms. Victoria Beckham, the aspiring fashionista extraordinaire, that your aesthetic quite simply doesn’t cut it!
