Dorothy’s slippers get a Swarovski makeover from top designers!

16th September 2009 10:09 am

In celebration of the 70th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz, Warner Bros. Consumer Products together with CRYSTALLIZEDâ„¢ – Swarovski Elements, approached some of the world’s top shoe designers asking them to re-create Dorothy’s iconic red slippers for the modern day.

The designers selected for this celebration include Roger Vivier, Moschino and Alberta Ferreti, who will have their designs showcased in the Swarovski store in Soho From September 15 – 23.

Once the public have been given the chance to see these sparkling efforts, the slippers will be auctioned off at Warner Bros.’ Emerald Gala, which will feature performances from Ashanti and Lorna Luft – daughter of Wizard of Oz star Judy Garland – as well as appearances from the original Munchkins and the cast of the National Tour.

The auction is open to global bidders and will take place online on September 24 and is in aid of The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

About us

Welcome to My Fashion Life!

Launched in 2003 My Fashion Life is one of the UK’s leading top fashion blogs. Recognised for combining all the quality content you’d expect to find in an online magazine with the honest opinion and tone of a blog.

We love designer fashion, but we love a damn good bargain, too, so while we might lust after Lanvin one minute, we’ll be traipsing to Topshop the next.

You guys are the only reason we get up at 6am to cover the royal wedding and go to bed 5am after the Oscars – we’re dedicated to bringing you the juiciest gossip from the fashion world and delivering the best shopping guides we can muster, because hey, we’re just doing our job. And it’s a good job we love it!
