April 5th marks the one day of the year when socially responsible footwear company TOMS Shoes ask people around the world to go without shoes for one day so kids in poorer countries don’t have to!

Today’s ‘One Day Without Shoes’ campaign marks the fourth annual event for the footwear company and they’re asking all you readers to kick off your heels and brogues for just one day!

TOMS kindly donate one pair of shoes every time a pair of their own branded footwear is sold, helping raise awareness in Western society the impact a pair of shoes can have on a child’s life – and the difference they can make to a child’s comfort and happiness.

TOMS’ Founder and Chief Shoe Giver Blake Mycoskie said, “The problem is large but the solution is simple. Wearing shoes and basic hygiene can prevent both infection and disease due to unsafe roads and contaminated soil. By imagining a life without shoes, we can all contribute to the awareness of these conditions, which is why we ask everyone to join TOMS on April 5 and participate in One Day Without Shoes.”

This year’s campaign is supported by Charlize Theron, Henry Holland, Tory Burch and the legendary Tony Kravitz – but they’d love for you to jump on the footwear-free band-wagon too.

In London today One Day Without Shoes will be holding an exclusive shoe-free party in Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes in Shoreditch from 12 noon to late. For more information about local One Day Without Shoes events and information in your area click here.
