Where do you like to shop?

Well obviously vintage and thrift shops are my first port of call when I’m on a shopping spree, but I also love little boutiques hosting emerging designers and inspiring new styles. On the high street, Topshop is always a favourite!

If we’re talking countries, I love the markets of Spain and Italy; the quirky designer shops in Antwerp; and the ridiculously lavish boutiques in Las Vegas. I’m off to New York next month, so I’m going to pack in as much shopping as possible from the minute the plane lands.

Which vintage item in your wardrobe would you classify as your favourite and why?

I have 2 favourites (is that allowed?). They were both given to me by my mother who bought them in a boutique in the 60’s. The first is a full-length, gold crochet dress which has a halter-neck and deep V at the front right down to my waist and it is backless. The second is a silver lame column dress which fits like a glove. Both are completely over the top and very ‘bling’. My mother was a hostess in a night-club in the 60’s and used to wear them then. I’ve worn them a hundred times to dances and balls, in my former life as a solicitor. Everytime I wear them I am complimented, so that’s a good enough reason to keep wearing them!

Who’s style do you admire?

At the moment it has to be Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton, the Sass & Bide duo. I just love their creativity and their funky style. I also adore the classic look of Audrey Hepburn and Gwen Stefani’s kooky style at the moment.

Which are your three favourite designers?

My new favourite at the moment is Roland Mouret…his dresses this season are to die for! Thierry Mugler and Dolce & Gabbana have always been favourites of mine. The cut of their clothes is exquisite. But I also have a soft spot for Oscar de la Renta’s evening wear, Gucci, Roberto Cavalli, and Herve Leger.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

Life’s too short, ‘Carpe Diem’.
