If any of you happened to catch a glimpse of Isabel Marant’s recent A/W 12 show in Paris, you will already know cowgirl-chic is in- big time. Not the rootin’ tootin’ Daisy Duke hotpants kind; the nonchalant ‘model having a day out in the Arizona desert’ kind. There were embroidered shirts, broderie anglaise and cowboy boots-a-plenty and was a collection the Coachella set will no doubt be coveting like mad. The collection might not be available for a while but, thankfully, Isabel has plenty of other pieces around which emulate the look.
This easy-breazy ‘Dream’ cotton embroidered top is a perfect summer staple and nails the western trend in one fell swoop. More Marant muse than Little House on the Prairie, it is cool, stylish and screaming out to be worn in the sunshine. There is something about bright white embroidery which is so perfect for now and, with white being one of the hottest shades of the summer, this is definitely an investment piece you won’t regret.
Wear now with well-worn jeans and Acne Pistols (if you’re lucky enough to own a pair) and denim cut-offs when the sun (eventually) decides to make an appearance. Dream by name, dream by nature. Isabel Marant ‘Dream’ Cotton Embroidered Top, £275, available at Matches.
