Beauty: Nail-Back Painting

1st September 2008 10:42 am

galliano_nails_010909As every woman knows, an outfit can be made or indeed broken by the tiniest detail, and a sure-fire way to ruin even the most jaw-droppingly gorgeous of ensembles is a shoddy manicure. A true fashionista would never be seen proudly parading her new Alexander McQueen Novak with uneven, unkempt and grubby nails – *shudder*.

My manicurist LuLu must cringe when I book my weekly appointment with her (although she’s far too polite to admit it) as I’m always creating beautiful yet time-consuming designs to match my outfits. A bit much? Maybe, but teaming a sky-high pair of Louboutin‘s with co-ordinating nails – usually black on the front, red on the back – how unashamedly and uber glamorous.

My newest discovery is nail-back painting (length dependent of course), it oozes class, screams “I’m high maintenance (if you like that kind of thing), and there’s no more worrying about the dirt that miraculously appears out of nowhere to ruin your perfect polish! I’m currently sporting a black and white French manicure complete with moons and black backs a la John Galliano at Dior – gorgeous.

Never underestimate the power of a simple coat of nail-polish, you’ll feel like a million dollars and look like it to boot, plus it adds instant glamour to absolutely any outfit. My nail tip: don’t be afraid to experiment, it all comes off with the stroke of a cotton pad. Now what should next week be; tartan or leopard print? Hmm…

Welcome to My Fashion Life!

Launched in 2003 My Fashion Life is one of the UK’s leading top fashion blogs. Recognised for combining all the quality content you’d expect to find in an online magazine with the honest opinion and tone of a blog.

We love designer fashion, but we love a damn good bargain, too, so while we might lust after Lanvin one minute, we’ll be traipsing to Topshop the next.

You guys are the only reason we get up at 6am to cover the royal wedding and go to bed 5am after the Oscars – we’re dedicated to bringing you the juiciest gossip from the fashion world and delivering the best shopping guides we can muster, because hey, we’re just doing our job. And it’s a good job we love it!
