Bruce Oldfield confirms he’s not designing Kate Middleton’s wedding dress

Couture designer Bruce Oldfield may have once been a favourite go-to of the late Diana Princess of Wales, but it seems Kate Middleton has her eyes set on a different designer, as Oldfield today confirms he has not designed Middleton’s wedding dress.

To begin with Bruce was a clear frontrunner to design the royal wedding dress, but was later replaced in the competition by Alexander McQueen creative director, Sarah Burton, who now tips the scales as one of the main contenders.

But with Bruce exclusively informing Vogue UK this morning he was out of the running once and for all, it leaves one less designer in the double guessing firing line.

“It has been such a subject of rumour and speculation over the past months, but I am not designing it,” Oldfield admitted. “We will all know tomorrow – and I thought I’d duck out of the ‘possibles list’ to give everyone 24 hours to place their final bets!”

But that doesn’t mean Bruce isn’t intrigued by what Kate will look like on her big day – after all, he’s already predicted her dress will have sleeves.

“Catherine will undoubtedly look spectacular,” Oldfield added. “She has a fantastic figure and knows well what suits her. I shall be intrigued to see her choice of design.”

Only one more day to go guys, then we’ll know for sure…
