Princess Beatrice’s royal wedding hat sells for £81,101 on eBay

Although Princess Beatrice’s Philip Treacy hat she wore to the royal wedding in April received plenty of ridicule the world over, it seems the young royal has the last laugh as the hat finally sells for a whopping £81,101 on eBay.

The 22 year-old decided to put the hat’s unexpected attention to good use by putting it up for sale on eBay last month, to raise money for the children’s charity Unicef through her Little Bee Initiative, which she set up for the purpose of this auction.

“I’ve been amazed by the amount of attention the hat has attracted. It’s a wonderful opportunity to raise as much money as possible for two fantastic charities. I hope the winner of the auction has as much fun with the hat as I have,” said Beatrice.

At one point the hat had around 724,000 views and 94 bids, setting a new record for the sale of a designer hat on eBay, reports The Telegraph.

We hope the anonymous winner enjoys their rather expensive royal prize.
