Anna Wintour gives five word acceptance speech at Webby Awards

15th June 2011 9:03 am

The 15th Annual Webby Awards, which took place on Monday night in New York, are pretty much like the Oscars of the internet world – with awards given out to the best websites in various categories.

But on the night, Daniel Radcliffe presented Vogue US editor-in-chief Anna Wintour with the “People’s Voice” award for fashion for Vogue.com. And no, we can’t quite work out why Daniel presented the award, either.

Now onto Anna’s acceptance speech, and for the long and short of it – well, it was pretty short, actually, with just five words uttered in total: “Sometimes, geeks can be chic,” reports Fashionista.

It’s a tradition of the Webbys that all winners must accept their award with a five word speech, but we’re particularly impressed by Anna Wintour’s witty remark, even if she is a little behind (geeks have been chic for at least two seasons, non?).

Go Anna!
