Handbag Hunter: Miu Miu patent leather Matelasse shoulder bag

30th August 2011 12:53 pm

Usually, when it comes to something pink (especially an accessory), I jump right on the bandwagon. But I must say (and it’ll come as a surprise to us both), I’m not so enthralled with this latest Miu Miu design. And I love Miu Miu.

Now, I realise this patent leather Matelasse shoulder bag will fit in effortlessly well with next season’s sweet-wrapper trend (it’s bright and it’s shiny) alongside AW11′s mini bag look, but I just can’t seem to get over my dislike of its rumpled shiny body.

Naturally it has its plus points – just turn to the decadent shade of its rose patent leather and the chain-link shoulder strap – but none of this detracts visually enough from the sight of that sweet-wrapper-squished-behind-the-sofa look. It just looks, dare I say it, slightly cheap.

If its beautiful metal hardware didn’t have the words ‘Miu Miu’ emblazoned across its lock-heart front, it could be mistaken as something from a cheap high street store. What’s up, Miu Miu?
