What to wear…for a black tie dinner

22nd June 2012 11:30 am

Summer’s here, which means proms, grad balls and, formal dinners that all call for head turning, show stopping, envy-inducing attire.

We’ve featured several short dresses in our ‘what to wear’ posts this week, but a glamorous occasion like this calls for a floor sweeping, gasp-inducing effort.

That’s not to say you have to do formal wear overkill, in fact you can easily master stand out black tie dinner chic with a handsome dash of spring/summer 2012 and a handful of killer accessories.

Tropcial prints are all the rage right now, and this floor-length Ostwald Helgason dress hits the style spot! Complement the riot of colour with gold hardware and skyscraper heels, et voilà, you’re ready to make your entrance, A-list style.

Ostwald Helgason printed maxi dress, £450 £215, available at Browns

Fiona Paxton Sorrel serrated brass bangle, £59.50 available at The Outnet

Pamela Love 10-karat gold-plated spiked cuff, £152.50, available at The Outnet

About us

Welcome to My Fashion Life!

Launched in 2003 My Fashion Life is one of the UK’s leading top fashion blogs. Recognised for combining all the quality content you’d expect to find in an online magazine with the honest opinion and tone of a blog.

We love designer fashion, but we love a damn good bargain, too, so while we might lust after Lanvin one minute, we’ll be traipsing to Topshop the next.

You guys are the only reason we get up at 6am to cover the royal wedding and go to bed 5am after the Oscars – we’re dedicated to bringing you the juiciest gossip from the fashion world and delivering the best shopping guides we can muster, because hey, we’re just doing our job. And it’s a good job we love it!
