Spotlight on: Kirsty Ward

16th July 2012 1:00 pm

We were very excited when new images of Kirsty Ward’s new autumn/winter 2012 collection landed in our inboxes, but just in case you guys aren’t familiar with her work, allow us to enlighten you.

Like so many of the design greats do, Kirsty graduated from Central Saint Martins, and then went on to design with Alberta Ferretti! She spent a year and a half in Italy working with the legendary designer, launched her eponymous label in 2010, and hasn’t looked back since!

The best thing about Kirsty’s line is the equal focus on both womenswear and jewellery – two things we are equally passionate about! Her attention to detail and love for defined structures and lots of strong and powerful embellishment makes each and every piece stand out on its own.

Juxtaposition is a key theme in her collections too, as you can find tough materials such as rivets and hinges incorporated with soft and sparkly ones, i.e. silk and Swarovski crystals in one piece. Check out the pics above to see what we mean!

Vogue may have named Kirsty Ward as a ‘Designer to Watch in 2011’, but we think 2012 is definitely her year, as she has presented us with her strongest collection yet! Do you like the pieces and concept behind her collection?

About us

Welcome to My Fashion Life!

Launched in 2003 My Fashion Life is one of the UK’s leading top fashion blogs. Recognised for combining all the quality content you’d expect to find in an online magazine with the honest opinion and tone of a blog.

We love designer fashion, but we love a damn good bargain, too, so while we might lust after Lanvin one minute, we’ll be traipsing to Topshop the next.

You guys are the only reason we get up at 6am to cover the royal wedding and go to bed 5am after the Oscars – we’re dedicated to bringing you the juiciest gossip from the fashion world and delivering the best shopping guides we can muster, because hey, we’re just doing our job. And it’s a good job we love it!
