Love or Hate: Alexander McQueen angel drape dress

28th April 2011 1:30 am

With the Royal Wedding on Friday, speculation about Kate’s dress has gone fever-pitch. Everyone’s got their own opinion on who the lucky designer will be, but my money is on Alexander McQueen. The label is famed for producing iconic British creations and I think it would be an incredible tribute to the man if Sarah Burton were to design it.

But enough about Kate, you could be your very own princess for the day in this show-stopping Alexander McQueen angel drape dress.

Made from the finest cream and green silk, it really is an ethereal masterpiece. The embroidery consists of fine silver coils and crystals, beautifully constructed into the shape of angel wings, and the intricate back has a hem falling lower than the front, giving it a slight train.

This really is an once-in-a-lifetime dress which needs no accessories. With all that crystal embellishment, a small pair of diamond studs would suffice just fine, and keep shoes and bags super-sleek for a look which is all about the dress.

Alright, so I don’t actually have close to ten thousand pounds to spend on a dress, but if I did, this would be my dream one. I don’t know what Kate Middleton’s dress will be like, but if McQueen is involved, I’m sure it’s an outfit we’ll remember for years to come.
