To be honest, I didn’t know that much about the label Junya Watanabe before I saw this piece. After a bit of research, I discovered the label is named after a Japanese designer who used to work for inspirational label Comme des Garçons.

He also happens to have designed pieces for First Lady Michelle Obama. You learn something new every day.

I became intrigued by the label after I saw this little gem of a design. The dusty white printed nautical dress features sails, anchors and wheels and is kitsch-cute at its best. The garment also comes with an attached blue and white striped cardigan with V slits at the back. The conceptually contorted way it’s designed is, quite frankly, innovative and unique.

I’d team this dress with top-to-toe sea-worthy accessories – white plimsolls or striped canvas wedges are ideal. Finish with a striped tote bag with rope handles… don’t cha wannabe in this Junya Watanabe?
