Lindsay Lohan tries (and fails) to channel Elizabeth Taylor in gold dress

21st November 2012 12:01 pm

Isn’t it interesting how one sartorial concept can work so well for one person and be a bit of a fashion disaster for another? Yesterday we gushed about how Kylie Minogue resembled a goddess in her gorgeous golden Julien Macdonald gown, but Lindsay Lohan didn’t quite have as much luck pulling a similar look off last night.

Lindsay donned a floor-length gold dress for the premiere of her Liz & Dick Lifetime film, but she didn’t quite manage the effortless glamour and elegance of Elizabeth Taylor. Perhaps if the dress was a slightly better fit and it wasn’t slashed in the middle we might have thought differently… after all, Elizabeth Hurley (and more recently Lady Gaga) made that Versace safety pin dress work for her so it isn’t unheard of for something so revealing to look classy.

We won’t totally dismiss this look though; we adore Li-Lo’s flawless make-up and love the fur stole she teamed the dress with – we think Elizabeth Taylor would have approved. Plus we can’t even begin to express how thankful we are that she’s gone back to her bold, rich, red hair colour. From the shoulders up – Lindsay is flawless, so let’s end on a good note!
