Marc Jacobs to be knighted , the French way

22nd January 2010 12:47 pm

Marc Jacobs
Congratulations , or felicitations, should we say , are in order: Marc Jacobs has been awarded the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters), or the French equivalent of a knighthood, to us mere folk.

As both creative director of his own eponymous label and Louis Vuitton, the American designer has received the French honour for his services to the fashion industry, not to mention the amount of time he dedicates to his work in the French capital.

But he’s not the only one to receive such an award Nathalie Rykiel, daughter of Sonia and creative director of the Sonia Rykiel fashion house, will also be honoured by the French government for her services to fashion.

Both willl be decorated by Culture Minister Frederic Mitterrand in a ceremony today, which is scheduled to coincide with men’s fashion week in Paris, according to WWD.

Bien fait! etc.

About us

Welcome to My Fashion Life!

Launched in 2003 My Fashion Life is one of the UK’s leading top fashion blogs. Recognised for combining all the quality content you’d expect to find in an online magazine with the honest opinion and tone of a blog.

We love designer fashion, but we love a damn good bargain, too, so while we might lust after Lanvin one minute, we’ll be traipsing to Topshop the next.

You guys are the only reason we get up at 6am to cover the royal wedding and go to bed 5am after the Oscars – we’re dedicated to bringing you the juiciest gossip from the fashion world and delivering the best shopping guides we can muster, because hey, we’re just doing our job. And it’s a good job we love it!
