Who wore it best? Sarah Jessica Parker vs Kate Middleton in Alexander McQueen

13th July 2011 8:45 am

Who in their right mind would go up against new British style icon Kate Middleton, and in an Alexander McQueen dress? Well, Sarah Jessica Parker donned the same knitted dress as our Duchess of Cambridge, but here’s the best part - she wore it first!

Yes, someone was way ahead of Kate in the style stakes – five years ahead to be exact.

The leading lady of Sex and the City wore the original sailor-chic dress in a navy blue colour back in Hollywood several years ago. She acessorised the casual dress with scarlet red rose heels and glossy curls to celebrate her husband, Matthew Broderick, gaining a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Unfortunately for SJP, she now has the ever glamorous Kate Middleton to compete with. Another stop on her Canadian tour with Prince William, another killer dress, and although this one is a little causal for Kate, she definitely pulls it off.

Her pulled back hair makes the dress look sleek, whilst her too toned figure and long legs let the dress cling to all the right places. Matching midnight blue heels and earrings to match her stunning engagement ring added a touch of glamour to the Alexander McQueen creation.

Although Sarah Jessica Parker may have set the trend, we reckon Kate managed to update the preppy look and still look glam. But who’s style do you prefer: SJP in her popping shoes, or Kate with her classic approach?
