Jimmy Choo honours 91-year-old Iris Apfel with a pair of 5-inch heels!

Iris Apfel is inarguably a style icon, which is why we think it’s very fitting that Jimmy Choo has decided to honour the woman he calls “the grand dame of idiosyncratic fashion” by designing a shoe for her.

Although it’s a lovely gesture which we’re sure Iris will appreciate, we’re in two minds about whether the 91-year-old will actually wear the “Iris” shoes. The hand-woven leather sandal comes with a fierce 5-inch heel and lots of tassels and embellishment to boot, which may not go down too well with Jimmy Choo’s muse.

‘”Those big platforms and insanely high heels. They look like an orthopedist’s delight,” she has said in the past. “I don’t see anything beautiful about them.”

Yikes. She didn’t end there though.

“I don’t mind if a shoe is embellished, but it has to be well designed,” she reportedly said. Manolo’s shoes seem perfectly designed. He knows what he’s doing. And there’s nothing that beats a classic pump.”

Well Jimmy, if Iris doesn’t approve, you know where we are!
