Vera Wang and Leighton Meester team up to raise money and awareness for DKMS

29th March 2012 11:31 am

Gossip Girl actress Leighton Meester and designer extraordinaire Vera Wang have once again teamed up, this time all in the name of charity.

The two ladies have joined forces to raise awareness for DKMS, the world’s biggest bone marrow donor charity. Vera has created a special T-shirt that will be available in Macy’s to raise money for the charity, which you can see Leighton Meester modelling above with 19-year-old blood cancer survivor Kerri Mullens, who was apparently one of the inspirations behind the project.

“I’m excited to be working with DKMS and Leighton Meester on such an important cause,” said Vera Wang. “I designed the ‘share the love’ T-shirt as a reminder that we each have the power to fight blood cancer and save someone’s life. It’s easy to become a bone marrow donor – get swabbed!”

You can get your hands on the T-shirt  when you make a $78 purchase of Vera’s Lovestruck perfume, which Leighton is of course the face of.

Head to getswabbed.org to learn more about the great cause. And of course, check out the video below to hear Leighton and Kerri explaining more.

We love designer fashion, but we love a damn good bargain, too, so while we might lust after Lanvin one minute, we’ll be traipsing to Topshop the next.

You guys are the only reason we get up at 6am to cover the royal wedding and go to bed 5am after the Oscars – we’re dedicated to bringing you the juiciest gossip from the fashion world and delivering the best shopping guides we can muster, because hey, we’re just doing our job. And it’s a good job we love it!
