Despite appearing in one of the biggest style-focused shows on American television and being BFFs with some of the hottest designers in the world, Sarah Jessica Parker doesn’t regard herself as a fashion icon.

We, however, think that both she and alter ego Carrie Bradshaw are more than worthy of the “fashion icon” status that they’re associated with, although SJP isn’t convinced…

“It’s not an identity that I connect to,” she told People. “I’m grateful if anyone says anything kind, and if they say something less kind, I take that as a part of anyone talking about you at all. It’s not how I think of myself and think it’s probably the healthier approach.”

That’s not to say she doesn’t appreciate it though…

“I love beautiful things and I’m privileged to borrow a beautiful dress. I feel really lucky and genuinely enjoy it. I feel like fashion has a proper place in my life. It’s just not a reality every day – not when you have three kids and you go to the market and there are hungry people at home. You have a limited time to do it. There’s just no time to let vanity enter into that.”

Spoken like a true mother-of-three. We don’t know how she does it, but we definitely think of SJP as a style icon – and always will! Won’t you?
