Exercise Shouldn’t be Torture

If the word “exercise” sends shivers down your spine, you may be doing it wrong. Throughout most of human history, we have been very active. 

It is only recently that we have begun to spend a lot of our time being sedentary, either working at our computers or sitting in front of our screens. However, regular exercise keeps our entire body in good shape, sends endorphins to the brain, and generally makes us look and feel better.

If you torture yourself when you exercise, you discourage yourself from exercising. You will find that you dread it more and more as time goes on. That’s why you may find yourself sitting on the couch beating yourself up even though you really had intended to go to the gym.

Find ways to exercise that you enjoy. Take long walks when the weather is nice, try a dance video in your living room, play with your dog in the yard, or do some gardening. Whatever you can do every day to get yourself up and active is the right kind of exercise.

There are certainly diseases that occur spontaneously, outside of your whole body health and lifestyle. However, it is often the case that a particular disease or ailment points to a problem with how you are taking care of yourself.
