Galliano takes Dior to Egypt

Posted by Michele Obi on Tuesday, 20 January 2004No Comment

John Galliano’s collection for Dior was inspired by Ancient Egypt and it looks like it was absolutely amazing.

The Dior show opened with the magnificent arched-back profile of Erin Orsquo Connor looking statuesque in a tightly fitted, long golden suit and Nefertiti head-dress. From the land of the pharaohs came one gold dress after another emblazoned with great furbelows of fabric and fabulous head-dresses or masks of the Egyptian gods. Galliano very sensibly stuck to simple lean silhouettes for this all-evening-wear collection (much more commercial) and then added great swooshes of organdie to exaggerate a hem, a cuff or a collar.
