Tom Ford says he “could absolutely die tomorrow”

3rd June 2011 10:45 am

As far as shocking statements go, Tom Ford‘s are pretty much up there this morning. According to reports, he wouldn’t mind dying tomorrow.

“I know one day I’ll be irrelevant,” said Ford. “No matter how hard you try, there is a cultural moment, but eventually that window’s gone, your time on Earth is finished, and you might as well leave. I could absolutely die tomorrow – I would not care. I feel like I’ve lived, I feel like I’ve had a great life.”

Ford’s comments of contentment come from a new dedicated documentary, showcasing never-seen-before footage of his much-anticipated debut womenswear line, and sees the designer talk about his personal style and insecurities, how he felt when he left Gucci and his issues about working in the fashion industry, reports Vogue UK.

“I have mixed feelings about what we do because we convince people they’re not perfect enough,” explains Tom. “We promote materialism, which is ultimately not the thing that brings you happiness in the world.”

You’re not all bad though, Tom. The hour-long documentary will air June 24th on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
