Angelina Jolie to play evil villain Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty adaptation!

Yay, an Angelina Jolie story that isn’t revolving around leg-gate! The Oscar-winning actress and Goodwill ambassador has apparently been snapped up to play the evil role of Maleficent (the villain from Sleeping Beauty) in a film of the same name.

“It’s a really great script. I’m having a lot of fun,” said Angelina.  “I’ve already got my horns fitted. My kids are very happy. We’re still figuring out the look. We’re experimenting with different things. But the horns are the horns – you can’t deny them. You have to have horns.”

Spoken like a true pro! Elle Fanning will reportedly be playing the role of Princess Aurora, which we think is a very fitting casting; don’t you?

As much as Angelina wants to sink her teeth – and horns – into the role, she is determined to give her character a slightly more human side.

“It’s the first time they’re looking at this epic woman,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “I hope in the end you see a woman who is capable of being many things, and just because she protects herself and is aggressive, it doesn’t mean she can’t have other warmer qualities.

“Maleficent is actually a great person. But she’s not perfect. She’s far from perfect.”

Er… ok then! Think we’ll have to see the film for ourselves to find out what Ange is getting at. Who’s excited?
