Celebrity photographer, David LaChapelle, recently filed a plagiarism lawsuit against Rihanna after claiming many of the scenes in her S&M video resembled an abundance of his iconic images, and now the complaint has been taken to court.

David alleges the singer’s erotic video copied his lighting, wardrobe, and props, among many other things.

The judge obviously believes David has a case, so has set a pre-trial date for August 10th this year, but the photographer claims taking Rihanna to court is nothing personal, reports The Cut.

“I like RiRi,” said LaChapelle. “This is not personal, it’s strictly business. Musicians commonly pay to sample music or use someone’s beats and there should be no difference when sampling an artist’s visuals.”

We’re not quite sure Rihanna will see it that way, David.
