Last night’s 2011 Oscar Awards at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles saw a whole host of acting starlets take to the red carpet like a flock of perfectly groomed doves. And although there was plenty to celebrate on the award front (yes, Colin Firth, we’re talking about you) the dresses took us to a new level of excitement indeed.
From simple to statement and daring to dramatic, here’s our top 10 pick of the best dressed celebs on last night’s red rug.

Cate Blanchett pushed the proverbial boat out in this blush beaded floor length Givenchy Couture gown from the label’s spring 2011 collection. Flattering her frame to utter perfection, the cut and detail (especially the unexpected flash of yellow beads) shoot her straight to the top of our best dressed list.
Gwyneth Paltrow
Gwyneth Paltrow wowed onlookers in this glittering custom-made Calvin Klein Collection gown. The minimalist form-fitting shape and futuristic metallic design made way for an absolute red carpet winner.
Michelle Williams
Michelle Williams dazzled on last night’s red carpet in a beautifully beaded white Chanel Couture gown. With cap sleeves, simple figure-hugging shape and her platinum blonde hair, the actress looked effortlessly beautiful.
Mila Kunis
Style star of the moment Mila Kunis turned up to last night’s award ceremony in a stunning crushed lilac Elie Saab SS11 Haute Couture gown – the soft feminine shape and seductive lace inserts gave Mila that ultimate understated sex appeal.
Halle Berry
The ever-beautiful Halle Berry looked picture perfect in this romantic nude Marchesa number. The fitted basque, all-over embellishment and mermaid tail design all added up to a truly jaw-dropping outfit on the night.
