Blaze of glory: 3 must have blazers for spring!
The Blazer – where would we be without it? Utterly versatile, the blazer is both our go-to for that all important job interview and our ante-upper when we’re looking to dress up a pair of jeans. A good blazer really does carry serious fashion mileage, and that’s why we think it’s only right to invest in a good quality piece at the beginning of a new season to see us through all situations – from the office to the dancefloor! The trends for SS12 are by no means subtle, so we’ll be looking to keep our tailoring neutral to offset and complete our outfits perfectly. Looking for something to throw over your Great Gatsby flapper dress? Look no further – the blazer is your friend. Plus, nothing complements a pastel more perfectly than a simple white blazer, and no doubt we’ll be needing a blazer to save our blushes for when we’re donning the SS12 pyjama trend too… So, with that in mind, here are our three must have blazers for Spring/Summer 2012: Michael Kors Long Sleeve Collection Blazer, £215, available from my-wardrobe.com. French Connection Solo Crepe Jacket, £120, available from French Connection. Reiss Jude Drawstring Blazer, Was £195, Now £97, available from Reiss.

We don’t know quite how to say this, but Stella McCartney’s spring/summer 2012 advert kind of reminds us of the ever popular Where’s Wally? puzzles (or for our Stateside readers, Where’s Waldo?), and would very much like someone else to see where we are coming from so we don’t sound completely crazy.

Read More5 spring trends we absolutely adore!
Soon all the January sales will have finished and our favourite stores will suddenly be awash with new collections. However, it is sometimes hard to know exactly what and what we should be looking out for in the forthcoming season. Thankfully, help is at hand as MFL is here to end all your trend-forecasting woes. Here are top five spring trends- they are the ones we love, the ones we will be following and the ones you should too! PASTELS If there is one trend see in abundance on the catwalk at the last fashion weeks, it was creamy pastels. Pale lemon, mint green, candy pink and baby blue all featured heavily. Take the icy pastel blues at Christopher Kane and the ultra pale lemons at Carolina Herrera for inspiration. Ease yourself into the trend by adding a pastel piece to your wardrobe- a pale pink sweater or mint green bag for example. FLORALS Yes they pop up every year, but this time round florals are bigger than ever. Erdem’s classic blue florals drew admiring glances all round, while Valentino’s monochrome blooms took a fresh approach to the trend. It is a simple trend to wear and might even be one you have in your wardrobe. Pair that floral tea dress with a candy coloured cardigan for ultimate fashion kudos. VINTAGE AMERICANA One of our absolute favourite trends this season was the Vintage Americana look which steamrolled in at the last shows. We mean, did you see Prada’s cute a quirky car print motifs?! Jil Sander also followed suit with retro blue and white gingham. One of the more daring trends but that’s part of the appeal! BOLD PRINTS If you are going to do prints this season, make sure they are big, bold and brash! Take a look at […]

The Chanel spring/summer 2012 ad campaign appears to have been created by the ultimate dream team. Saskia de Brauw and Joan Smalls showcase the movement of the latest Chanel pieces as they pull structured, acrobatic poses in the black and white images, which were set against a stunning backdrop at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes France – the same place the Resort 2012 show took place. While ordinary spring/summer campaigns would naturally choose to feature bright and bold colours and prints, Chanel has gone in the opposite direction, which is what ultimately sets it apart from the rest and makes it such an irreplaceable brand. Muted elegance and timeless beauty is what we expect to find from Chanel – and that’s exactly what we got! Flawless as usual, Karl! [Sassi Sam]

Read MoreFirst look: Topshop spring/summer 2012
It’s a strange concept that, when upping the heating by a few degrees and being stalked by dull skies, we should be thinking about spring, but alas, fashion is nothing if not far-out at times. And so it was that yesterday we were transported to far sunnier climes when we popped into Topshop’s press day to see what’s in store next season – and as the high street store presented its first stand-alone presentation (without the rest of the Arcadia group), temps were soaring to say the least. Split into four sections – festival, metallic luxe, tropical and scuba – you can expect to be wearing the following next season: candyfloss colours with ombre effects, cropped pastel knits, delicate lace dresses (often in acid shades), slathers of metallic silver, tropical prints and scuba details. Highlights include a cream chiffon maxi dress decorated with pink embroidery, a nude patent biker jacket that screams tough Upper East girl, ombre shades on silk trousers and a lightweight blazer, a shiny silver leather mac fit for a flight to the moon, an Eighties-bright tropical print blouse and an Erdem-esque floral printed silk top. Shoes, both heels and sandals, get the silver touch too, but the most impressive piece, perhaps, was Mary Katrantzou’s limited edition dress. As close to the designer’s mainline as it could possibly get, her signature prints and structured shapes have been translated across a 14 piece capsule collection set to hit stores next February. So far a colourful contrast print puff-ball dress is the only glimpse we’ve been given, but you can take our word that it’s likely to become Topshop’s most successful designer collaboration to date. We’re only allowed to share five images of Topshop’s new collection, so, naturally, we’ve tried to pack as many pieces into those pictures as […]
