Abbey Clancy’s Ultimo spring/summer 2014 pics unveiled

Last year we told you that Strictly Come Dancing 2013 winner and hot model Abbey Clancy had been named the brand new face of Ultimo; and now it’s time to check out some of her best (and probably raciest – you’re welcome, boys) pics from the ad campaign. Abbey can be seen striking some seriously seductive poses in some gorgeous, sexy Ultimo underwear; great inspiration for Valentine’s Day if you ask us! “Abbey looks incredible in our spring/summer campaign and embodies the Ultimo brand perfectly,” said the brand’s founder Michelle Mone. “She’s body-confident, beautiful and feminine – all the qualities associated with Ultimo. 2014 is going to be a momentous year for the brand and this is the perfect start. “The new Ultimo collection offers gorgeous lingerie for every occasion and I can’t wait for women try it. “We’ve been working tirelessly over the past year to improve our product range and fit – including our famous ‘OMG’ Plunge bra, which is now 50 per cent lighter – and I believe that Ultimo now offers the very best fit on the market.” There’s only one way to test that theory, and that’s heading to the shops and trying the pieces on ourselves. Ah, the things we do for “research”, eh?! [Daily Mail]

Fashion month seems like such a long time ago, so we know that the trends presented on the spring/summer 2014 catwalks might not instantly come into your heads under pressure. Here are your must-haves for the spring season: 1. A white shirt is a wardrobe staple whatever the season, but it’s practically a necessity for the upcoming spring/summer season – just ask Preen and Viktor and Rolf, among others. You can go plain for max versatility, but we can’t resist the embellished collar on this beauty. Sister Jane embellished blouse, £45 2. A floral dress in spring? Pretty much a given but there’s a reason floral dresses are the perfect springtime attire – you can’t go wrong with a standard floral dress. Layers of clothing and jewellery are heartily encouraged! Wedges have been the answer to many a sartorial footwear question over the years, and we think these cork wedges have it all – height, comfort, versatility – add to shopping cart! Glowing complexions Phillip Lim models covered up in oversized sunglasses during the show, but their bare-faced look also made an impact. Check out the close-up, behind-the-scenes images at Vogue, and you can see glowing complexions teamed with bushy brows and low-key makeup. House of Fraser have a perfect range of products that will help give an amazing complexion. The Illuminating Base and Highlighter Face Pen by Chanel, will allow you to get beautiful glowing skin. Paired with neutral shades or a complementary turquoise, the look seemed surprisingly wearable. To experiment and find the perfect shade for you, try this MAC Pro Lip Palette, which features six gorgeous orange colours. A matte finish is a must, so make sure you blot your lipstick with a tissue and add a light coat of translucent powder before heading out. Unusual eye colour This season’s Prada catwalk saw models wearing winged eyeshadow in unusual shades. Violets, yellows and moss greens were applied; with darker shades creating wings and accentuating the shadow of the inner eye. Cara Delevingne sizzles in La Perla spring/summer 2014 ad campaign

We know she loves nothing more than lounging around in her favourite onesie with barely-there make up, but Cara Delevingne can definitely pull sexy out the bag too. That was pretty much confirmed when we saw her strut her stuff on the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show catwalk earlier this month, but her new  ad campaign images for La Perla prove that she isn’t just a one-trick pony. Cara Delevingne is sizzling in the ad campaign images for the lingerie brand, showcasing some of the best and sexiest pieces La Perla has to offer while sporting luscious wavy hair and glaring into the camera with a seductive come hither look in her eyes. Definitely one to drive the boys wild! Cara was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott under the artistic direction of Fabien Baron, and was joined in the spring/summer 2014 ad campaign by Malgosia Bela and Liu Wen. If this doesn’t make you want to head to the gym, work on those abs and save the pennies for some sexy lingerie to impress the man in your life, we don’t know what will!

Highlights from the Mulberry spring/summer 2014 press day

Yesterday we headed to one of our favourite spots in Kensington – the Mulberry showroom – for the spring/summer 2014 press day! If we had left the MFL office earlier, we would have run straight into Kate Middleton selling poppies at the tube station! Never mind, eh?! We got up close and personal with the new ready-to-wear collection. It consisted of fun florals, luxurious textures, perfectly executed tailoring, bright colours juxtaposed with subtler hues, and much more. Our favourite pieces included a pink striped top and skirt, a white floral dress, and a bright orange dress – what can we say, we love a bit of colour! Now the best bit: the bags! It was all about the double sidedness as far as the bags this spring/summer 2013 season were concerned. That means you can wear a white clutch bag one day and flip it over and wear the black version the next. Or you can totally unzip them and give one to your best friend for an incredible colour coordinated outing… just make sure she gives it back at the end of the night. Probably easier said than done! It wasn’t just about the clutch bags though – all our old favourites also came with a double sided design too – two times the space and ten times the fun! The rest of the accessories didn’t let us down either – belts, scarves, purses – you name it, Mulberry is all over it! Another stunning collection that hasn’t disappointed. Here are more of our highlights from the new-season collection:

Reflecting on London Fashion Week…(Spring/Summer 2014)

The hub of all excitable activity, and displaying a manner of dressing that even those residing across the Atlantic strongly envy (yes, those polished NYC queens), London is a melting pot of acceptance and crazy, annotated flower diagrams in the name of Christopher Kane. But given the shows are essentially work affairs, where buyers behind affluent retail names come to place hefty orders, and editors come to coo at what they’ll be instructing Testino to shoot in seven or so months’ time, was fashion week on point? Did the runway looks deliver and meet expectation? Here’s what we thought: Translatability Tom Ford’s show during London Fashion Week had us, for the first time, sitting up and thinking about how a shattered crystal dress arranged in a mosaic-like effect was ever going to appear on the red carpet. Or, would we see It mademoiselle Alexa Chung rocking a teardrop cut-out dress from Christopher Kane’s spring 2014 collection at some high profile shindig? Some of the clothes worked – like Emilio de la Morena’s relaxed-but-city-slick separates and even Topshop Unique’s impressive line-up of printed spaghetti strap dresses and curved, cropped shirts – when it came to mentally visualising them on ‘real’ people in the ‘real’ world, but the goth cyber chick at Mark Fast made it hard to maintain that focus. Out of touch? In a rather interesting piece rounding up the shows in London, Cathy Horyn made a very valuable point: “As I went around London, to places and streets filled with ordinary people, I had the sense, more than ever, that fashion here was taking place in vacuum. Do they care about Christopher Kane’s naïve drapes and twisted flower dresses? If the public doesn’t appear to be even remotely listening, whom are we talking to?” With street style running the gamut at […]

Streaker on the Dolce and Gabbana Spring 2014 menswear runway

And we thought streaking only happened at football games and drunken university parties! Yep, you read the title right, the Dolce and Gabbana spring 2014 menswear show was indeed a memorable one – for more than just the new collection – as a streaker managed to run down most of the runway before he was taken away by security guards. Madness! “While the designers come out for their bow and turn to walk backstage, from down the other end of the runway a guy rips off his clothes,” said GQ associate fashion ed Matt Sebra who witnessed the whole thing. “Full freeball. Says nothing anyone can understand and just kind of zig zags up the runway before the first security guard tries to cut him off. Maneuvers a little but turns back and that’s when four guards create a perimeter to block his junk and he’s taken away. Fashion community says ‘huh.’” Was this a welcome distraction for Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana (who have been sentenced to 20 months in jail for alleged tax evasion – a decision they are appealing!) or do you think it made things worse? It got people talking one way or another! And if you want a, um, closer look at the streaker in all his glory, you can check out the video below. Watch if you dare! [Fashionista]

Doutzen Kroes for H&M’s spring/summer 2013 campaign!

We bet it’s been pretty busy in the H&M offices these past couple of months. Not only did the fab Swedish retailer have all that Beyonce for H&M excitement to deal with, but it also made the wonderful decision to invite supermodel extraordinaire Gisele back to front more ad campaigns. Not surprising, she is a pro after all! However, not content with Beyonce and Gisele, H&M has also enlisted the help of Victoria’s Secret Angel Doutzen Kroes for its brand spanking new spring/summer 2013 ad campaign… and we couldn’t be happier with the signing as Doutzen is pretty much the ultimate beach babe! A bronzed Doutzen (complete with essential tousled beach waves in her hair) was photographed in the picturesque location of Tulum Mexico, and is showcasing a host of luscious, African-inspired summer pieces. You can expect everything from animal printed belted swimming costumes to essential embellished beach cover-ups and more. [Sassi Sam]

5 spring-to-summer strapless dresses we love!

Unsightly straps can be off-putting, especially when you find THE perfect dress for that impossible-to-shop-for occasion. Strapless dresses are a wardrobe necessity for two important reasons: avoiding tan lines whilst holidaying, and showing off your sculpted (read: not Madonna-like) arms you’ve worked so hard for in the gym! And with the warmer climes fast approaching, (or so we hope), we’ve rounded up the top five strapless dresses that’ll easily see you from spring to summer. And styling a strapless dress couldn’t’ be easier. With the unpredictable weather in Blighty, (yes, we envy you, Coachella-goers!), popping a jacket over your shoulders as a cover up works well, and makes a strapless dress ideal for both work and play. Make a strapless dress boardroom appropriate by wearing it with a sharp tailored blazer, pair with statement heels and clutch for a night on the town, or dress it down for drinks with the girls by slipping into leather jacket. Although we’re patiently waiting for the clouds to clear, so we can show off our strapless dresses in all their glory, prepare by browsing our top picks below and get shopping! The luxe affair: £1,867, available at Net-a-Porter. If you’re looking to splurge on an investment piece for a big occasion, this leopard-print, chiffon Giambattista Valli dress is the perfect purchase for a summer wedding. The High Street hit: £35, available at River Island. No need to dig deep for this dress, we love the cut out detail at the waist and the transitional lemon colour. Geometric glam: £267.54, available at Shopbop. The tri-colour, geometric print is perfect if you’re looking for a statement-making dress, and we love the sweetheart neckline. Classic (S)LBD: £42.99, available at Mango. A fail-safe option, easily dressed down for work with heels and a blazer, or up for a […]

If you’re feeling a little lazy on the style side when it comes to the weekend, a wow factor jacket will ensure you don’t slump on the fashion front. With spring here and summer knocking (well we’d like to think so!), all we can think about is packing away our hefty, blanket-like coats to make way for some light and pretty wearing. A perfect spring jacket is the reason fashionistas look forward to warmer climes (along with sunbathing, cocktails by the pools and envy-inducing swimwear), because, in a place like Blighty, it’s your saviour for those chilly nights you don’t want to leave the party early for fear of getting ill! Worn with a skirt and heels, or atop your favourite Marant-esque skinny cropped jeans and basic tee ensemble, our pick of seven laid-back spring jackets will ensure you’re the one leading the weekend chic pack. Ashley Tisdale embraces spring in Rebecca Minkoff two piece

Ashley Tisdale has been absent from our television screens all year and we have been less than pleased about it. However, the Tiz headed to EXTRA TV to be interviewed by ex Saved By The Bell hunk Mario Lopez about her appearance in Scary Movie 5, and we think she looked absolutely incredible. An appearance definitely well worth the wait if you ask us! We follow Ashley on Twitter and her dedication to the gym hasn’t gone unnoticed – and the Rebecca Minkoff cropped bustier top and skirt combo is the perfect outfit to show off her incredible figure with class. It screams “look at me” without being to obvious, which is exactly what you want. We (along with the rest of the world) got to know Ashley Tisdale during her High School Musical days (let’s not pretend we haven’t purchased the dance-along version and play it when we’re feeling a bit down) and we adore how her sartorial choices have taken her from Disney Princess to ‘Style Queen’ over the years. We also love the darker locks she is sporting too; gorgeous from top to toe!

Spring 2013: Four Footwear Essentials

[noskim] It doesn’t feel like long ago that we were ankle-deep in snow but don’t let that put you off dreaming of your new spring footwear wardrobe. The new season is just around the corner, so we thought we’d take a look at what’s hot on the street and on the catwalks to give you some shoe shopping inspiration. Whether you like to keep things casual, or you’re looking for your next pair of killer heels, you’re in for a treat. The fashion houses have been busy this year, introducing more footwear trends than we’ve seen in years. So check out these hot tips and ready, steady, shop! Ditch the Cons for Vans If your footwear collection’s more track and field than Manolo Blahnik, then this season’s hottest sneaker will undoubtedly be close to your heart already. While the Converse All Star’s been riding high for the past decade, another street shoe’s been simmering under, waiting for its chance to shine. We’ll always love Cons, but they’ve been worn to death, even making their way onto the red carpet. So it’s officially time for them to move over and make way for Vans. The skater shoe, Vans started out in 1966, gracing the feet of every surfer and skater in California. Still a bona fide punk classic, pick up a pair of the original checkerboards for a retro vibe, or check out the grey Ferris model from BANK for a more versatile shade. Giddy up, cowgirl! Looking for a new ankle boot to see you through spring? There’s only one style to go for if you want to stay on trend. The cowgirl boot has been given a makeover for 2013, giving us a fresh alternative to the must-have Chelsea of 2012. It’s a style classic that’s been due a […]

Seven of the hottest spring/summer fashion trends you need to know about

[noskim] It’s a new year and a new fashion season, which inevitably means that there are a whole heap of trends and styles to get to grips with. If you’ve not been able to keep up with the catwalk shows but still want inspiration for your spring/summer 2013 wardrobe, you’re in luck. We’ve rounded up seven of the hottest (and the most wearable) trends of the season: Monochrome Black and white pieces were all over the catwalks in New York and Paris, and the shops will soon be full of monochrome masterpieces. Black and white dresses and other pieces offer instant elegance and sophisticated simplicity, so you won’t need to worry about matching or clashing colours when putting together an outfit. Long may this trend last! Stripes Just as easy to wear as monochrome, stripes in all forms and thicknesses are set to be huge this season. The key to wearing stripes is to use them to flatter your figure, drawing attention to your best bits and concealing others. Bermuda shorts Got a holiday coming up? If so, you mustn’t forget a pair of Bermuda shorts – they’re all you’re going to see on the beach this summer. Peekaboo dresses These are dresses which show off some skin, but there’s no need to rush out for a boob job or have liposuction surgery just yet – the current trend is not overly revealing. The idea is to show off the most minor flash of flesh, and at the narrowest part of the body – the midriff. After all, just the smallest glimpse of skin is far sexier than showing off the whole lot. Pencil skirts Pencil skirts and dresses are universally flattering, so women of all shapes and sizes should be happy that the pencil is back for the season. […]

Its bloomin’ spring, lovelies! Here are 3 great ways to wear floral prints this spring

Spring is upon is, and although the weather will have you believe otherwise, it doesn’t mean your wardrobe cannot blossom into the new season. Floral fashion is like a rite of passage when it comes to lighter climes, but we’re not talking ditsy, Little House on the Praire florals. Hyper-florals are interesting: taking a wardrobe staple such as a blazer and updating it with a fashion-forward botanical print adds a stylish edge to your everyday look. A little over whelmed by the statement making print? Well, fear not, because it isn’t as all-consuming (not unlike the Venus flytrap – how apt!) as it looks, and with a little style guidance, we can show you three easy ways to incorporate it in to your wardrobe. We’ve picked out three uber-cool options to bring a burst of floweriness to your burgeoning clothes collection, so check out our tips below on how to style florals for spring. Cash splash: Tucker floral-print silk-georgette jumpsuit, Net-a-Porter If you’re looking to take a no-expenses spared approach to wearing florals, then going all out (we mean this literally) is the only way. Hit a high-end note in this statement floral-print jumpsuit by Tucker. Paired with heels and a clutch, it’s the perfect party alternative to the predictable LBD. Trend dip: Tropical floral print scarf, Whistles If you’re a little wary of trying out the floral trend this spring, then investing in a pocket-friendly accessory that doesn’t compromise on quality is key. We love the tropical floral print splashed across this scarf, and it provides the perfect injection of colour to take an off-duty outfit from drab to fab. Statement staple: Piqué floral blazer, Zara The blazer receives a resounding nod from the fash pack when it comes to stealing the coveted title of best buy. Although it is fab […]

Flower power for Holly Willoughby’s spring/summer Very collection

Just in case you don’t quite believe that the spring/summer season is here – because looking outside the window will make you believe otherwise – Holly Willoughby is on hand to help it sink in. The yummy mummy, TV presenter and fashion designer is modelling her gorgeous spring/summer 2013 collection for Very.co.uk, and it’s looking flirtier and more feminine than ever! Plus there’s more floral patterns than we can shake a stick at – good work, Hol! As with all of Holly’s collection, her latest pieces are tailored for those ladies who are, shall we say, very blessed in the curve department… “Every season I design the wardrobe I would love to have and because I am curvy I am always going to design to suit a curvy shape,” she said. “Saying that, my collection is very good at creating curves as well as showing them off with lots of nipped in waists.” That’s exactly what we like to hear – even those of us who aren’t blessed with Holly/Kelly Brook style curves can fake it with strategically nipped in waist detailing – happy days! Five Spring Styles You Need In Your Wardrobe This Season

[noskim] With the bitter chills of winter retreating from the warmth of the oncoming spring sun, it’s time to freshen up your wardrobe with some much needed sunshine and clothes that are much more suitable for the rising temperatures. It’s the perfect opportunity to throw off the shackles of multiple layers and embrace skirts, dresses, tights and shorts – and all the uplifting colours, patterns and designs that come with this season. The high street is filling its shelves with an overwhelming array of fashion trends, and this article picks five all-important styles you’ll want in your wardrobe. 1. Bold Colours This spring, like many others, is all about bright bold colours. Bright pinks, blues, purples and yellows are all making waves this season and giving the usual floral spring patterns a run for their money in the popularity charts. Whether you make a bold statement with one brightly coloured item of clothing, such as a blazer or dress, which punctuates 2. Bright Accessories From bags to makeup, bright colours are everywhere – beyond tops, dresses and skirts. Allowing you to complement the colour blocking in the rest of your outfit, and punctuate other colours with matching schemes, you can complete any spring outfit perfectly with a bright striped or block colour handbag. Seasoned fashion lovers will know that bold, loud bag (or other accessory) can brighten up even the most reserved and muted outfit. Unless you’re colour blocking, if you opt for a loud clutch or handbag then tone down the outfit it’s going with to avoid painful clashes. 3. Panel Skirts & Dresses They certainly might not be new trends for 2013, but panel skirts and dresses are definitely here to stay. With spring getting rid of the need to wrap up and hibernate, now’s the perfect time […]

Get Eva Longoria’s casual spring-ready look

You know that spring has well and truly sprung when the bright nail polish is evident on the hands and feet of the celebs – and Eva Longoria’s bold orange mani pedi is a great example. The pint-sized Hollywood actress truly embraced the good weather by opting for some cool white jeans paired with some bejewelled sandals, which is a great combination to try out if you’re feeling brave enough. We say “brave” because not only do you have to deal with the VPL problem that comes with light-coloured trousers, but you’ll also have to be very careful to avoid spilling things on them which is probably easier said than done. Best to avoid public transport, parks and picnics as well, just to be on the safe side! Spring into the new season!

It maybe difficult to believe spring is here, given the constant climatic whitewash and non-stop downpour, but the fashion pack are trooping on, and despite London Fashion Week bringing autumn/winter wares to us already, we’re still delighting in the what the sunnier side of our wardrobe has to offer. Although the spring 2013 shows may seem like an age ago, we’re recapping on five of the biggest trends to roll off the runway so that your new season wardrobe is suitably edited for the (hopefully) warmer temperatures ahead:   Monochrome The biggest story to come out of spring/summer 2013; monochrome was HUGE. Yes. Marc Jacobs led the trend obsession by introducing a playful, monochrome checker board block design into the collection at Louis Vuitton, and playing with stripes for his namesake designs. Jil Sander and Céline brought the yin and yang of the colour spectrum together in a beautifully minimal fashion, but it was the vertical stripe short suit at Michael Kors that stole our summer-hungry hearts! Angelic whites Not a new season trend delight; a whitewash was evident for spring 2013, but not in the clinical sense: think airy and second skin, accented with hints of interesting texture detail. Major champions of the trend included Topshop Unique, Sass & Bide, Richard Nicoll and Rochas – summer appropriate, and a well-deserved breather from the previous season’s pattern and heavy colour galore! See-through style Sheer fabrics reigned supreme on the spring runway, and not just for their sexy and sunshine-appropriate qualities. Layered looks made the sheer trend more wearable, whilst prints at Roberto Cavalli added an almost concealing quality. Sheer outerwear in the form of slips and long-line jackets made an appearance at Prabal Gurung and Reed Krakoff, making it a summer staple rather than daring attempt to dress sexy. Suits Another one to covet […]

Update your wardrobe with our top pick for spring!

[noskim] All the Tinsel Town red carpet action these past few weeks has really got us in the mood for shopping, and finding a new frock for both day and evening is actually sitting at the top of our list at the moment. Luckily payday is looming, so now is the perfect time to begin our quest… we urge you to do the same if you’re in the same boat. You can’t really go wrong with a tea dress as far as the perfect day-to-night transition piece is concerned, and if you’ve been blessed with Kelly Brook style curves, we found a great sleeveless tea dress by M.I.M at Curvissa that should have you reaching for those credit card details in no time. Curvissa is one of our go-to places for gorgeous ladies plus size fashion for a reason, as it has more than a generous selection of stylish pieces on offer – they’re even neatly organised into helpful categories such as ‘size’ and ‘occasion’ to make your shopping experience just that little bit easier. The tea dress we selected features a wide round neck and has a zip at the back which is as practical as it is stylish.  You don’t even have to feel that guilty about spending your wages either, because the leaf print dress will only set you back £75. Style tip: wear with cobalt blue or luminous yellow or green shoes for an ultra-summery look in the coming months, or team with some sparkly accessories and monochrome footwear for a chic and demure eveningwear look. And go crazy as far as arm candy is concerned – the more bracelets and bangles, the better! [/noskim]

& Other Stories headed to London this Spring!

Last year we told you about the H&M group’s new baby & Other Stories which was slated to open across Europe at various different times of 2013. Well we have exciting news this morning as we finally know when the store will be heading to British shores – and it isn’t long to wait at all! It will reportedly coincide with the opening of the same store in Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen, Milan, Paris and Stockholm, which essentially means a large part of Europe will be getting their shop on and stocking up on their summer wardrobes at the same time. “All of us at & Other Stories are thrilled to open our first stores in some of the major European cities and we are looking forward to offering our collections to an even broader audience through stories.com,” said Samuel Fernström, a spokesperson for & Other Stories. The store will be opening on Regent Street (where else?!) in the Spring, which if you think about it is basically just around the corner. We should hopefully start seeing some product sneak peeks soon, so keep your eyes peeled! New and veteran supermodels for Prada’s Spring 2013 ads

Another stunning ad campaign to treat you to this morning, this time courtesy of Prada and a host of stunning ladies in equally (if not more) stunning items of clothing. Supermodels old and new have been called upon to showcase some of Prada’s finest spring/summer 2013 looks in all their glory, so expect to see appearances from the likes of Eva Herzigova, Raquel Zimmerman and Amber Valetta, as well as newbies Irene Hiemstra, Maartje Verhoef, Vanessa Axente, Irina Kravchenko and Sung Hee Kim in the ads. According to the press release, Steven Meisel’s pictures are meant to represent Prada’s new take on femininity, so give yourselves a pat on the back if the concept screamed out at you. Although we have to admit, we always had flowers down as a “feminine” thing, but we can definitely see how the photographer tried to modernise it. Perfect as usual! [Styleite]

See what L.K Bennett has in store for you this spring/summer 2013 season

A few days ago, we went down to the lush L.K Bennett HQ in London to check out what the brand had on offer for the spring/summer 2013 season, and we left with a warm, fuzzy feeling (from the bubbly – thanks guys) and a very long wish-list. Santa, friends, Romans, countrymen… take note! The brand may be famous for those nude shoes Kate Middleton rarely leaves the house without, but it’s about so much more than the Duchess’s penchant for colourless footwear… It’s also about arm candy, and there’s an abundance of cute, statement and all-round gorgeous bags for the new-season that are fit for all occasions. You have your elegant, wow-worthy evening bags as well as your bright, loud and attention-grabbing “look at me!” daytime bags. Big or small, night or day, there’s something in there for everyone. As well as the gorgeous accessories, there are lots of glamorous items of clothing in the new collection too, including some great evening and party dresses and a chic tweed jacket that we are actually in love with. Check it out for yourself in the pic below if you don’t believe us! We also got a very sneaky peek at the brand spanking new Caroline Issa collection, which was quite a treat as it doesn’t actually launch until February 19th 2013. The gorgeous embroidered pieces were inspired by the designer’s trips to Thailand, and yes, those are pompoms on the back of the shoes. Could they get any cuter? Do you like what you see from the new collection so far?

H&M’s new brand “& Other Stories” to launch in the Spring

H&M already has the likes of COS, Monki and Cheap Monday under its belt, but the Swedish retailer is adding yet another brand to its name by introducing “& Other Stories” to selected European countries and the internet as early as next spring! The ‘& Other Stories’ brand aims to be a one stop shop for women and women only, as unlike H&M, no menswear will be available. “& Other Stories is about bringing everything she can wear into one place, focusing on the whole look,” reads a statement.  “We believe shoes, bags, jewellery, lingerie and beauty are key for styling and just as important as clothing. “Our collections are built around inspiring fashion stories. All our lines are diverse, ranging from masculine tailoring to feminine chic and designed to provide endless styling choices.” We’re liking the sound of it already! Thankfully the price points of the new brand will be as low as those found in H&M, so that means lots of affordable clothes and accessories for us to choose from! Keep your eyes peeled for a first look at the pieces when we get our hands on them. [Telegraph] [Image]

Vanessa Hudgens continues to sizzle as she promotes Spring Breakers

There’s been so much gush-worthy celeb style to digest these past couple of days. It hasn’t been easy keeping track of all the appearances from our favourite females with New York Fashion Week going on, but a few ladies have definitely stood out for all the right reasons. One of these ladies is Vanessa Hudgens, who has continued to sparkle on the red carpet as she and Selena Gomez have been promoting their new film Spring Breakers. Our fave Vanessa look so far has without a doubt been the one at the Toronto Film Festival, where she donned a fuchsia Notte by Marchesa floor-length dress. V-Hudge’s Spring Breakers looks until this point have been a bit on the monochrome side (we’re not complaining, as she rocked every single outfit in our opinion) but at the end of the day, a 20-something year old actress can’t go wrong with an elegant pink floor-length dress. Especially when she accessorises it perfectly too! Vanessa’s dark, smoky eyes, slightly dishevelled updo, leopard print clutch and chunky bangle give the whole look a bit of an edge… it transforms it from “ordinary girl attending her high school prom” to “successful actress walking – and owning – the red carpet – with ease.”

Louise Gray collaborates with Barbie for her spring/summer 2013 collection

Amazing news this morning! Louise Gray will be teaming up with Barbie to create three life-sized outfits inspired by everyone’s favourite plastic fantastic doll. The results of this amazing collaboration will be revealed at London Fashion Week during Louise’s show, which is of course sponsored by Barbie! “It’s been interesting inviting Barbie into my world and giving her a makeover as part of my spring/summer 2013 collection,” the designer told British Vogue. “She is so famous; it was fun to give her a Louise Gray twist. It will be really different to anything she has done or been seen in before.” And what has she got up her sleeve for the blonde beauty? “I wanted to see Barbie in some separates and layer up her look and give her a different way to be girly and fun compared to what people may have seen before or normally associate with her.” Well there you go. Although all three of the looks will be adult sized, one of the outfits will be made to fit Barbie herself, which we have to say is pretty exciting stuff! First Minne Mouse and now Barbie – London Fashion Week is turning into our childhood fantasy!

3 ways to wear the spring-fresh shirt dress!

Your spring wardrobe doesn’t need to be bulging at the seams with trend led fads. Instead, insert a wardrobe staple into the mix, easily, with only a touch of SS’12. The shirt dress is a versatile number: part shirt, part dress (the clue’s in the name really!), it’s a fabulous and essential wardrobe addition that can be transformed from pretty to preppy in no time! Because we’re such spring/summer geeks, we couldn’t resist a splash of faded power-flower print, and who better to add some grit to an otherwise ditsy dress than street-girl saviour, Alexander Wang. Pale petrol blue fading into black with a gathered waist detail ensures this is the pretty dress for hard fashion girls. We love the crisp white collar and the versatility of this botanical print shirt dress when it comes to layering. Best Dressed of the Week: Coco Rocha in Zac Posen at the 9th Annual Spring Dinner Dance New Year’s In April: A Fool’s Fete

This week’s Best Dressed is a special one; both the dress and its wearer look amazing on the catwalk. It’s always a breathtaking sight when we spot a model in a stunning gown, and what better designer to turn to than the maestro of red-carpet style, Zac Posen. Supermodel Coco Rocha wore the stunning tulle edelweiss embroidered gown from the Zac Posen Spring 2012 collection, and boy oh boy did she look like a dream in it! Hardly in need of any accessorising, the gown has beautifully crafted butterfly wings situated atop the shoulders which Coco showed off by wearing her hair in a wispy up do. Form-fitting with a dramatically embroidered extended trail; just like the lady,Coco’s look is flawless. With a barely there berry stain on her lips to ensure the pale green gown didn’t completely wash her out, Coco opted to go sans accessories and it worked. An all-eyes-on-me gown like this surely needs no enhancement in any way. A no brainer for this week’s BDOTW!

10 New Season Buys that are Perfect for Spring!

The new season doesn’t have to translate as a financial drought when it comes to that all important wardrobe update. Invest in fresh, mainly trans-seasonal pieces which, although complementing the key trends for spring/summer 2012 (fun yet functional), aren’t so trend-centric that they’re deemed ‘disposable’ after one wear. We’re favouring key pieces that will see you through the new season, and if the sun decides to come out of permanent hibernation, they’ll make for some delightful sartorial indulgence. Go! Buy! 1. The Zip Sweater: The perfect answer to keeping cosy during weather tantrums, and the go-to item for stylish layering. We love the mother of pearl button and zip detailing and the grey melange hue makes this an undisputed wardrobe staple. 2. The Curved Shift Dress: This heavy jersey silhouette-skimming shift is bang on boardroom perfect and in the perfect shade of colour pop pink. We particularly like how the asymmetric neckline adds an element of excitement to a simple dress. 3. The Classic Wrap Dress: The most flattering wardrobe addition you could possibly invest in. Slightly referencing Kate Middleton’s gush-worthy royal engagement dress; we love how the waist tie subtly cinches at the waist and the spring appropriate pink rose colour. 4. Essential Tank:  Three words: Essential, essential, essential! You will practically live in this lightweight knit tank in a cool dusk blue, we promise. 5. The Chambray Shirt: Your new season wardrobe hasn’t reached its warmer months prep peak if a cool cotton chambray shirt isn’t part of the party. With endless styling opportunities, this is definitely our favourite spring investment. 6.Cotton Sateen Tux Jacket: Forget limiting yourself to channelling the androgyny trend, a sharply cut tux is now a wardrobe essential. Whites with a spring summer 2012 slant!

The purists will know that spring summer 2012 offered up white as the delectable new black. Usually a major no-no, for fear of staining your blanc wares with the remains of your brightly coloured lunch; white came in interesting guises for the new season. Celine opted for a structural angel in white – retaining all the innocence of this heavenly hue, but with a sharper edge in the form of razor-edged collars on button-up shirts, knife pleat knee length skirts, sculptural jackets and the sure-fire accessory of the season: a chunky white belt. Louis Vuitton opted for a frothier version of white, with organza-sealed broderie anglaise dresses, giant white buttons and adorable lace collars. Don’t be fooled by the prettiness though, as an injection of drama came in the form of heavy black eyelashes and princess tiaras that helped curb the angelic vibe of the collection. Even though white may prove a difficult trend to pull off, sport this season’s sister of pastels with bravado, and opt for white pieces with an offhand air about them. Play with texture and layering; opt for a sculptural jacket with interesting lapel detail or, a perforated shift dress for girlish charm with a twist. Whatever trend you champion this season, ensure a whitewash is on the cards with our top picks to invest in right away.   Alexander McQueen Leaf Crepe Skirt, £495 available at Matches   Diane Von Furstenberg Harper Clutch, £355, available at Matches Connie Crepe Jacket, £155, available at French Connection Knitted Stem Hem Vest, £32, available at Topshop Valentine Embroidery Anglais Shirt, £120, available at Reiss Theyskens’ Theory Racer Back Metallic Braid Dress, £550, available at My Wardrobe Raoul Perspex Belt, £68, available at Matches

Runway to Bedroom Mirror: Hats off to spring summer 2012 headgear

Several erogenous zones emerged from the spring summer shows: just-above-the-navel exposed midriff; ears, thanks to statement earpieces at Prada and Dolce & Gabanna, and, oddly enough, ankles made it onto the list, too, with a multitude of ankle strap footwear that showed up. And probably the most exciting of them all, hats. Headgear in all guises made headlines this season, from raffia pompom peak caps at Burberry Prorsum – a quirky play on merging a sporty aesthetic with a tribal one – to wide brimmed floppy hats at Rag & Bone that reminded us why we love summer so much. We travelled back in time to the roaring 20s, thanks to Ralph Lauren’s pretty pastel cloche hats. But when we witnessed a botanical print BMX helmet at Alexander Wang, it was as though the hell-raising BMX bikers had landed in the gardens of paradise– well, kind of. From this point on, we knew hats were going to be a major add-on to any spring summer look, for a dose of sheer drama. Take note from the all-knowing Victoria Beckham, who effortlessly paired super-desirable caps with sexy silhouette dresses and made it look so perfect and proper. And over at Jil Sander, Raf Simons did the impossible, perfectly; when he cleverly attached a blusher veil over a beanie, and made us dizzy with excitement. It was all about mixing up the elements and breaking away from the head-warming, wintery associations often made with hats. Roksanda Ilincic showed us just how cool-appropriate a bright beanie looks paired with a colour pop midi skirt. Give your all-eyes-on-me tote a break from the endless fashion people glares it notches up on days out, and take inspiration from our top headpiece picks to add an edge to your summer wardrobe. Head turning effect, guaranteed.   […]
