Reports of the split came after Doherty had been involved in a Streetfight in North London. According to friends of the beauty, Moss said: “I still love Pete but can’t put up with his unpredictability anymore. I can’t go on spending every day and night worrying about Pete. He would disappear without a word and I would not hear from him for several days.” [IrelandOn-line]

1990’s Fashion: Sports and Heroin Chic

Heroin chic is a trend in fashion that is based on sickness, dark circles under the eyes, exhaustion, and other signs of drug use. It originated in the early ‘90s and mainly in the United States, when heroin use became popular in wide circles, due to the decline in its market value. At the same time, most people did not know how to get into rehab without insurance (https://addictionresource.com/drug-rehab/no-insurance/ would have definitely helped them), that is why the rates of deaths from drugs were pretty high. In the ’90s, it wasn’t about body awareness and healthy habits — half of all Americans smoked on a regular basis, the opioid epidemic was at its peak, nobody would go get treatment at rehab by choice.  At this time, a huge number of films on this topic appeared. You definitely watched or heard of such movies as Trainspotting, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Basketball Diaries, and Pulp Fiction, which have become iconic.  So, let’s figure out why after the ‘80s, when Princess Diana and Brooke Shields were style icons, everything changed dramatically and the trend was a slender physique and unkempt. How heroin chic appeared It all started with British photographer Corinne Day, or rather with her photo shooting with Kate Moss called The 3rd Summer of Love. It is important to understand that these photographs glorified the future photo model, giving a powerful impetus to the development of her career.  At that time, Kate was only 15 years old, but that did not stop Day from filming her half-naked with a cigarette in her hands. These photos instantly spread throughout the fashion community, appearing on the covers of many glossy magazines, including The Face. At this time, for the first time, the term Heroin Chic began to be used, which […]

Beyond Awareness: Turning Attention To Breast Cancer Prevention

Breast cancer gets a lot of attention. Every October, football teams sport pink helmets, fundraiser walks spring up in parks, and millions don t-shirts with pun-filled, often sexualized phrases highlighting the disease. Back in 2014, Kate Moss even modeled pink lingerie in a breast cancer awareness campaign. To put it simply, everyone is well-aware of breast cancer – but, as a culture, we’re less rigorous about prevention. An Ounce Of Prevention As the old saying goes, with breast cancer, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. That means that changing the conditions that cause breast cancer, detecting major risk factors, and identifying breast cancer cases before the disease can spread is critical, because once cancer advances, it’s much harder to treat. Breast cancer that’s detected early on, though, can be quite treatable, and there are a few simple steps patients and doctors can take in the name of early identification. Mammograms And Self-Exams The two most important tools in early breast cancer detection are mammograms (a form of imaging that can identify abnormalities in the breast tissue) and manual breast exams, ideally self-exams performed monthly at home. Unfortunately, many women neglect self-exams and there’s significant medical debate over when and how often women should receive mammograms.  At present, it’s generally accepted that all women should receive an annual breast exam from a doctor if they don’t perform them at home. As for mammograms, most doctors recommend women begin receiving annual mammograms at age 40.   Know The Signs Testing goes a long way in identifying breast cancer for those receiving regular medical care, but many people won’t go to the doctor unless they already think something is wrong. When it comes to breast cancer, though, early signs can be quite subtle. Women should be on the lookout for […]

The Spring/Summer 2020 Fashion Trends We’ll Be Wearing

Yes, we’ve had an onslaught of storms. Yes, the rainfall seems like it’s never-ending. And yes, it’s bitterly cold…BUT, we’ve spied some daffodils starting to bloom. Which is one of the best telltale signs that spring is on its way. And while Fashion Week is in full swing and providing us with inspiration for autumn/winter 2020, naturally we’re still in the process of planning our wardrobes for spring.  So what can we expect for the new season ahead? Well, we have the usual floral prints to contend with. Obvious, but worth mentioning anyway. And thanks to designers including Balmain, Maison Margiela, and Dries Van Noten, polka dots are going to be everywhere, along with feminine tailoring, embroidery designs, exaggerated collars, bucket hats, and crochet to name a few.  Now, while there are some trends we’ll be steering clear of because let’s face it, we’re not supermodels and can’t pull off everything. Sigh. There are certain trends that we wouldn’t forgive ourselves for not trying. Ahead, we highlight the spring trends we’ll be wearing along with must-have pieces to complete the look.  WAISTCOATS  You’d be forgiven if every time you pictured a waistcoat you immediately thought of Kate Moss circa mid-2000s, in her famous signature shorts and knee-high boots. And while designers such as Anthony Vaccarello did send models down the catwalk in gorgeous tiny waistcoats, thankfully other versions of the waistcoat included a more grown-up, looser style as seen specifically at Armani and Hermes.  We11done wool-blend blazer available at Net-A-Porter  Double-breasted gilet available at Mango NEON 80’s trends always make a comeback every season in some shape or form. This spring/summer it’s back in full force in the way of fluorescent hues.  Vibrant, attention-grabbing, and fun, whether it’s a flirty lime green dress as seen at Valentino or head-to-toe electric […]

Meghan Markle Made A Surprise Appearance At The British Fashion Awards 2018

Looking flawlessly beautiful, Meghan Markle took to the stage last night at The British Fashion Awards to present Givenchy’s artistic director Clare Waight Keller with the award for Womenswear Designer of the Year. Speaking to a room filled with celebs including Victoria and David Beckham, Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford and many more, Meghan said, “It is such an honour to be here celebrating British fashion and British fashion designers in my new home of the U.K.” She continued, “As all of you in this room know, we have a deep connection to what we wear. Sometimes, it’s very personal and sometimes it’s emotional. But for me this connection is rooted in, really being able to understand that it’s about supporting and empowering each other, especially as women.” The designer whom was responsible for Meghan’s stunning wedding dress has also been the Duchess of Sussex’s go-to designer for many of her outfits since the big day. Therefore, it was only fitting that the mum-to-be bestowed Waight Keller with the prestigious award. Upon acceptance of her award, Waight Keller said, “This woman is so amazing. I got to know Meghan on such a personal level. To have someone like that trust you on such a personal moment in their life… I can’t thank you enough because it was the most beautiful moment.” Opting for a one-shouldered black velvet Givenchy gown, gold bracelets by Pippa Small and strappy heels by Tamara Mellon, Meghan kept her makeup minimal. She finished off her look with a low bun and black nail polish. Held at the Royal Albert Hall and in partnership with Swarovski, other winners on the night included Kaia Gerber for Model of the Year, Pierpaolo Piccioli took home Designer of the Year and Virgil Abloh won Urban Luxe. Outfit Inspiration: How To Wear Coloured Trousers?

Printed trousers are out. Coloured trouser are in. That seems to be the general consensus this summer. Remember when floral print trousers were seen everywhere and anywhere last season? Well it appears that our love for loose fitting trousers still remains (they’re a godsend when the weather is hot & humid) but this time we’re ditching the prints in favour of bright hues. How to wear coloured trousers? Team with a white shirt and a blazer for the perfect ensemble as seen on Beyoncé while out and about in New York last month and most recently on Kate Moss who teamed her white Vinyl t-shirt with a black blazer at the launch of the Bella Freud x Cutler and Gross collection earlier this week. And yes, you know once Bey and Kate stamp their seal of approval, there’s no need for further debate – we predict coloured trousers will be a HUGE trend this season. Our top tip? While we do love pink and yellow, stay ahead of the fash pack and experiment with other colours too. Emerald green or a bold blue perhaps? See below for our faves..

How To Recreate Emmy Rossum’s Makeup At The 2016 Critics Choice Awards

The best thing about award season? Well, aside from lusting after the decadent red carpet gowns, has got to be all the hair and make-up inspo. While, we may not be able to afford couture, we certainly can recreate some of our fave beauty looks and this year we absolutely adored Emmy Rossum Parisian-inspired makeup at the 21st annual Critics’ Choice Awards. The timeless look was all down to the handiwork of celebrity makeup artist Jo Baker. “Emmy fancied super sleek and modern hair – I suggested that a soft looking radiant skin and lips would be perfect but the main focus being on her eyes.” said Baker. Here’s a complete breakdown of the products used and how to apply: EYES After prepping Rossum’s skin, Baker took Rimmel London ScandalEyes Eyeshadow Stick in Trespassing Taupe and dabbed a few rough dots along the base of her eyelid. Then working quickly smudged it over Emmy’s eyelid using her fingertip, creating a shadow base for Emmy’s eye makeup. Next, the celebrity makeup artist applied Rimmel London Exaggerate Smoke ’n Shine Eyeliner in Little Black Smokey along the actress’ lash line and smudged it with a small brush. She then slathered Rimmel London ScandalEyes Eyeshadow Stick in Bad Girl Bronze inside Rossum’s waterline, making sure some of the liner got stuck in her lower lashes, and then smudged it with the end of her fingertip, “This adds a little warmth around Emmy’s eye, which works great with her brown eyes,” said Baker. For thick long-lasting lashes, Baker applied several generous coats of Rimmel London ScandalEyes XX-treme Mascara in Black and lastly dotted Rimmel London ScandalEyes Eyeshadow Stick in Whitness White on the inner corners of Rossum’s eyes to brighten. SKIN For radiant glowing skin, Baker applied  Rimmel London Lasting Finish 25HR Foundation in Ivory and using a small blender eyeshadow brush, applied a couple of strokes of RimmelLondon Good To Glow Highlighter […]

Although the coveted Womenswear Designer of the Year award at the British Fashion Awards is out of our hands (and we’re kind of glad about it too, as we couldn’t possibly choose between JW Anderson, Christopher Kane and Erdem!), we do actually have a say in who walks away with the British Style Award. The 20 nominees have been released today, and it looks like the competition is fiercer than ever. There’s a real mixed bag of famous faces in there – from models to actresses to human rights lawyers – but there’s one thing they all have in common and that’s impeccable style. David Beckham, Daniel Sturridge, David Gandy, Idris Elba, Jamie Hine and Tinie Tempah. The ten girl who have been nominated are, once again in no particular order because we don’t want to influence you, Cara Delevingne, Emma Watson, FKA Twigs, Amal Cooney, Dame Helen Mirren, Kate Moss, Kate Bush, Rita Ora, Jourdan Dunn and Keira Knightley. Cara Delevingne once again poses nude for Mario Testino, covers Allure’s Best of Beauty issue

From her nude Tom Ford Black Orchid ad campaign, to baring all with Kate Moss for the brand new My Burberry perfume, it’s safe to say that Cara Delevingne is no stranger to being photographed in her birthday suit. The 22-year-old model – shot by Mario Testino – has once again taken her kit off, this time in aid of Allure’s October issue – otherwise known as the mag’s Best of Beauty issue! London Fashion Week SS15 highlights from Burberry, Tom Ford, Christopher Kane and more!

There were two surprises on the Burberry Prorsum catwalk yesterday afternoon. One – the absence of heels. And two – the absence of Cara Delevingne. Instead, the show was closed by Bradley Cooper’s very lucky and very gorgeous girlfriend Suki Waterhouse – a sign that she is becoming the new Cara perhaps? – while Cara herself joined the likes of Kate Moss and other A-listers on the front row. Do you think she had catwalk envy and FOMO? Elsewhere in London, we saw a very rock ‘n’ roll collection from Tom Ford, who definitely pulled out all the stops for his London Fashion Week show. Heels and stockings were high, and hemlines were low and practically non-existent; it was dark, it was daring, it was provocative, it was overtly sexual – it was Tom Ford in a nutshell! It wasn’t all sordid outfits that Rihanna and Miley Cyrus would be fighting over though, as there was an element of 70s glam rock in there too thanks to the flared sparkly gold trousers – possibly our favourite piece from the entire collection! Take a look at the rest of our highlights from London Fashion Week below and let us know what you think of the latest collections to debut… Burberry Tom Ford Roksanda Christopher Kane

All of the world’s top models from Alessandra Ambrosio to Kate Moss have put their name to a clothing collection or two, so could it now be the turn of the one and only Naomi Campbell? If we are to believe the rumours currently doing the rounds, the answer is a big fat yes! “I’ve been approached by a few brands to design a line for them,” Naomi said. “It’s something that interests me and I’m in negotiations.” That’s as much confirmation as we’re going to get at the moment, but it’s better than nothing, and definitely gives us something to cling onto. Now the real detective work begins. Who do we think Naomi has been in talks with? Will she go super affordable or will we have to save up to own something she has designed? If we are to take what she said at the Vogue Festival literally, we think it will certainly be accessible to a lot of us… “Now I’ve grown up a bit more I will design not just for women of colour, but for all,” she said. “I see there’s lots of things that are not there that I feel that I’d like to have, and so I’d like to share it with everybody.” Do you think that answers our questions? Only time will tell! [Telegraph]

Balenciaga sues Steve Madden for copying its iconic Motorcycle bag

Another day, another fashion spat. The latest designers to battle it out in the courtroom this time round are Balenciaga and Steve Madden. Balenciaga has reportedly accused Steve Madden’s Btalia bag of imitating its famous Motorcycle handbag which is loved by A-listers from Vanessa Hudgens (pictured above) to Kate Moss to many more in-between. The Parisian label claims that Steve Madden’s copy is so similar to the original that it is likely to cause confusion among its customers… “The Defendant’s wholesale copying of Balenciaga’s designs is likely to deceive consumers into believing that the infringing handbag is associated with or authorized by Balenciaga when it is, in fact, not,” the official court papers read. This isn’t the first time Steve Madden has been accused of copying Balenciaga either, as SM reportedly imitated the Lego heels from Balenciaga’s autumn/winter 2007 collection a few years ago too. Tut tut! Where do you stand? Whose side are you on? Is Balenciaga right to seek legal action against Steve Madden? [Daily Mail] [Image]

Cate Blanchett is a vision in white for Ralph Lauren Royal Marsden dinner

We told you yesterday about Ralph Lauren’s newest philanthropic collaboration with the Royal Marsden, so you may remember that we mentioned that Prince William would  be hosting a dinner at Windsor Castle to raise money for the wonderful charity. As promised, the dinner was attended by a host of A-listers from Emma Watson to Kate Moss and many more, but it was Cate Blanchett who grabbed our attention. Cate Blanchett seldom fails to impress on a red carpet, and this was no exception, as she looked like a pure vision of loveliness in a white Ralph Lauren autumn/winter 2014 dress that inevitably made people’s heads turn and jaws drop simultaneously as she walked past. Never has an outfit for a charity dinner been more appropriate, if you ask us! Cate’s pulled back hair, bold red lipstick and statement chandelier earrings complemented her Ralph Lauren dress perfectly. We know it’s only Wednesday, but this is definitely a best dressed of the week contender.

Ralph Lauren teams up with Royal Marsden charity

Ralph Lauren is taking on a new philanthropic project, as it’s just been announced that he will be teaming up with the Royal Marsden charity. The American fashion designer will attend a charity dinner hosted by Prince William – the President of the charity – at  Windsor Castle tonight. And although Ralph Lauren has met and dressed countless famous faces over his very impressive career, he’s reportedly extremely chuffed to finally meet our future King… “It’s a very important night. Mr. Lauren has not met the Duke before and he is over the moon about it, and very excited,” an official spokesperson for Ralph Lauren said. “He has spent a long time looking for the right cancer-related philanthropic mission. This is an opportunity to develop that work.” Ralph Lauren himself had his own personal battle with the disease over 25 years ago, so we know that the charity and all the fantastic things it does is very close to his heart. A host of A-listers such as Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Emma Watson, Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne and Mario Testino are also rumoured to be attending tonight’s event, so you know it’s bound to be a good one! Julien Macdonald on not letting Katy Perry keep her Brits dress, and waiting for his Rihanna moment

We’re still excited about everything that happened at the Brit Awards on Wednesday night. All the big winners, the red carpet triumphs, the fact that Kate Moss accepted David Bowie’s award in his Ziggy Stardust rabbit playsuit – it was all going on! But the one designer who stood out to us was our Strictly Come Dancing fave Mr Julien Macdonald, who dressed not one or even two, but three ladies for their red carpet and stage appearances. Ellie Goulding, Jessie J and Katy Perry all wore Julien Macdonald at some point on Wednesday night, and the designer told Grazia that he was absolutely delighted – especially with Ms Perry – as he didn’t find out until the last minute… “You always loan out several dresses, so you never know what they are wearing until they actually hit the red carpet. I was over the moon – it was an amazing response,” he said. “Katy Perry was a surprise to me. She wore a brand new dress, as it was literally straight off the runway. I thought she looked amazing and glamorous and elegant – I don’t think you can ask for a bigger popstar!” It was a tough decision for Katy though as she apparently wanted to try on every single piece from the collection… “She had watched the show and picked it as one of her favourite pieces. She actually liked almost every dress and wanted to try them all on, but we had to say no because we have major buying appointments. We said you have to just choose the two you love the best. “Unfortunately they all ask to keep them and we have to say ‘err, no there is only one in the world and we need it back!’ All celebrities now have their own […]

First Look at Rita Ora’s Rimmel London ad campaign

Following in the famous and gorgeously British footsteps of Kate Moss and Georgia May Jagger, among others, is Rita Ora – whose debut ad campaign for Rimmel London has just launched online. And what a stunning ad campaign it is! The 23 year old singer, model (she has so many ads under her belt already we have no choice but to also refer to her as a model!) and overall fashionista is striking her fiercest poses for the Rimmel London products, including the ScandalEyes Thick & Thin Eyeliner (bottom right). Although with that bold red lippie, her eyes aren’t the only things commanding our attention! “It was so much fun working with Rimmel,’ Rita said. “I guess we’re inspired by many of the same things – fashion, colour, sounds, style, life in general and London in particular. I hope Rimmel girls everywhere will love these colours as much as I do.” The collection is very patriotic indeed, featuring a very British red, white and blue colour palette. Bold, colourful and totally wow-worthy – we would expect nothing less from Rita and Rimmel!

Lily Allen talks feminism, motherhood and Beyonce in Elle UK March

Well it’s been a long time since we saw Lily Allen on a fashion mag cover, but we are welcoming her back to the glossies with open arms as she covers the Elle UK March issue. Lily was shot byDavid Vasiljevic and is modelling some seriously cool garbs from the likes of Miu Miu (which she is rocking like a pro on the front cover!), Michael van der Ham and Roland Mouret. Jealous, much? Looking pretty in the latest and trendiest clothes isn’t all she does though, as she talks to the mag about returning to the music industry, motherhood, feminism, and the pressures she thinks women face about the way they look and act… “Of course I’d rather look like Kate Moss than look like myself,” she confessed. “I wish I didn’t feel like that, and I think the reason we feel like that is because of the imagery we’re fed all the time. Women are still expected, in some weird way, to kind of… Sit there and look pretty. And not talk.” Hmm… do you agree with Lily? Or is it all a bit too deep this early on a Tuesday morning? You can read the rest of Lily’s musings – and see more beautiful pics – in the March issue of Elle UK which hits newsstands on January 30th.

Never have daily chores looked more glamorous, as Agent Provocateur draws inspiration from the Stepford Wives for its spring/summer 2014 ad campaign. It was shot by Miles Aldridge and stars 18-year-old Hailey Clauson. “I was interested in the irony behind the idea of the ‘perfect’ woman, unfazed by the everyday pressures of life,” said creative director Sarah Shotton. “Our campaign girl has it all, she’s a lady in the street and a wildcat in the bedroom and the collection mirrors her pretty perfection.” Isn’t that every man’s idea of the perfect woman? Hailey follows in the very famous footsteps of Helena Christensen, Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Kate Moss; do you think she’s done a good job? Click here to see more pics from the stunning photoshoot. We don’t know about you, but we’re feeling inspired to do some housework…
