Charlotte Olympia designs World Cup inspired clutch bags

Ladies, have you lost your boyfriends or husbands to The World Cup? You aren’t alone, but quirky accessories designer Charlotte Olympia has tried to make it a little more bearable for us (staring at muscular men in shorts won’t distract us forever!) by designing an exciting collection of World Cup inspired clutch bags. “I am half-Brazilian and have three small boys, so I wanted to create this fun and feminine collection to celebrate Brazil hosting the World Cup,” the designer said. The capsule collection of  Hat Trick Pandora clutches is comprised of classic Lucite boxes with satin inserts which have each country’s flag printed on them, and will be available from July 4th. It’s no secret that Charlotte Olympia takes a theme and totally runs with it. She truly gets stuck in and immerses herself her projects, which is why we are never disappointed with what she comes out with. And her latest project is no exception. As with all Charlotte Olympia products though, the toughest part is actually choosing a favourite to buy. Do you go for your country’s flag or the host country? Or the country with the hunkiest men? Or do you wait ‘til the final and choose the winner? Hm, we think we’re going to be here a while! The bags will be available from Charlotte Olympia stores in New York, London, Beverly Hills and Miami, and will retail for $1,195. [Style]

Lunchtime buy: Paparazzi clutch bag

We loved the idea behind Henry Holland’s ‘Bagazine’, created for his H! by Henry Holland range for Debenhams and although it might have been a bit neon for our liking, we’ve come across a range that has taken the clutch/magazine look and made it, actually, pretty wearable. there are numerous cover designs to choose from courtesy of Paparazzi, the brand responsible for the more convincing bag-disguised-as-magazine effort and we believe it’s the decent masquerade job that’s got us more enthusiastic about this lot. After all, we never thought we’d want to carry around a bag that looked like a magazine but now? Well, we’re beginning to come round to the idea… …Just us then? Check out the range and see for yourself: £45 from ASOS.

Handbag Hunter: Marc by Marc Jacobs red clutch in Bianca leather

Now, this Marc by Marc Jacobs red clutch in Bianca leather is definitely going to hit the fashion trends of AW11 on the head. The envelope clutch is one of the most sought-after styles for this season and next, and it’s one of the most versatile. Such simplicity makes for a classic when it comes to the ever-evolving world of fashion. So here are the pros: Such a roomy clutch bag will take you from day through to night. The Bianca leather works one of next season’s on-trend boozy tones, and sparkles with its metallic lock fastening. It works wonderfully well whether you’re channelling that cutting edge mannish style or that ladylike, Forties glamour. It’s got the makings of a classic.   But here’s one major con: when all is said and done, no matter whether it hits the trends on the fashion head or not, whether Marc by Marc Jacobs made it or not and whether the colour’s too boozy or not, it’s just not my personal style. And that’s one major con that no pro can recover from I’m afraid. Marc by Marc Jacobs Red Clutch in Bianca Leather, £260, available at my-wardrobe.com.

This Anya Hindmarch Nude Huxley Clutch has got my pulse rate on the increase. It’s just one of those shoulder bags that will work with everything and anything – the turn-to accessory in your wardrobe when you’re stuck for ideas or inspiration. With its slim-line frame, delicate chain and luxe stingray tassel this bag has got all the makings of a fashion-pack favourite. You’ve got to admit it we’ve all got a soft spot for a statement piece with versatility. Be it, that fabulous silk Hermes scarf that you move from your neck to your hair, that classic white shirt that can be turned up, tied up or tucked in – if it’s versatile, we LOVE it. Therefore, this Huxley clutch, with its neutral tone, can work as a delicate shoulder bag, or be worked easily as a compact, oversized clutch. Its neutral palette coincides with this season’s spotless white palette and nude base tones. For inspiration, turn to Michael Kors S/S’11 collection, he is the master of the neutral palette, especially for working that laid back, every-day wear we have grown to love and hopefully one day master.   Anya Hindmarch Nude Huxley Clutch, £495, available from my-wardrobe.com.

Classic Designer Bags Worth The Splurge

Investing in a designer handbag is more than just getting your hands on the latest must-have accessory – it’s an investment piece that can be passed down for generations to come. And while there are tons of designer bags, only a certain few have gained iconic status because of their timeless style and lasting quality. So whether you’re searching for something traditional or modern, here’s a roundup of some of the most iconic designer bags out there! The Best Classic Designer Bags 1. The Chanel 2.55 Bag Designed by the fashion icon herself, Coco Chanel, in 1955. Her vision was to create an elegant everyday bag that could be worn over the shoulder or carried as a clutch—and she succeeded! Famed for being the first shoulder bag (prior to the Chanel 2.55, women only carried clutch bags), it was loved because it was stylish and easy to carry. Made from lambskin quilted leather and featuring a gold chain strap, the Chanel 2.55 is still adored today. 2. The Hermès Birkin Bag There is perhaps no bag more coveted by women than the Hermès Birkin bag. Exquisitely designed, the Birkin bag comes with a hefty price tag and has become a symbol of wealth and status. But what is it about the Birkin that makes it so special? Well, it’s made from top-quality materials, ensuring that it will last for years, and it’s one of the most exclusive bags on the market because it’s so pricey. If you’re in the market for a Birkin you can snap up a pre owned one of these babies over at Farfetch. 3. The Louis Vuitton Speedy Bag Look no further if you’re looking for the most iconic Louis Vuitton bag. Designed in 1930, the Speedy bag is a smaller version of the Keepall travel […]

Let’s Discuss The Return Of Oversized Bags

There’s nothing that’s given us greater pleasure than the comeback of the oversized bag. Oh, how we love massive statement bags. And, this season designers are certainly having a love affair with huge arm candy. There were extra large sling bags at Sies Marjan, humongous croissant bags at Nanushka, giant soft sack bags at Jacquemus, Hermes and Bottega Veneta, super-sized bucket bags at Marni and Lanvin, enormous shoulder bags at Gabriela Hearst and oversized clutch bags at Givenchy , Balenciaga and Celine…. Now we know what you’re thinking. Okay, oversized bags can be impractical. But, this is one of those instances (like with killer heels) when statement style trumps function. And if you’re anything like us, in the sense that you’re inclined to carry everything including the kitchen sink, then can we make the case that large bags aren’t just an accessory to lust over, they’re a necessity. Bottega Veneta definitely leads the pack with their oversized offerings, but Gucci, Wandler and Saint Laurent aren’t too far behind. Ahead we feature our favourite on-trend bags to buy now. Finding The Bag To Complete your Autumn Look

Autumn is fast approaching, and that means you’ll need to make changes to your wardrobe to keep pace with the weather. If you’re in search of a new look this autumn, then you’ll need to ensure that you choose the right accessories. For instance, you might be interested in Label Society handbags. Surely you will be amazed by how many options they can put in the table for you to select from brand new selections to preowned and seasonal models. This is where the right bag can work wonders. Let’s take a look at some of the trends this autumn, and how to match with them. Purple The colour for the coming season is not up for debate, with a range of designers rushing to explore the various shades of purple. Over the coming months, you’ll come across a vast and varied assortment of lavender t-shirts, violet jeans, and indigo hats. And this should extend to your choice of bag, too: pick something purple to match the rest of your ensemble. Flowers Floral designs are popular throughout the year, and have been for as long as any of us can remember. This autumn looks set to provide a new twist on the style, with darker, gothic-inspired floral designs finding their way into everything from tops to skirts to scarves. Go for a darker bag with a floral design and you’ll be rocking it well beyond Hallowe’en! Two-Tone A single bold colour (like purple) is a safe bet. But what if you don’t feel like choosing? The introduction of bolder two-tone designs means that you don’t have to: they’re stark and uncompromising, and make a statement every time they’re worn. Cubism While softness and collapsibility are both desirable traits in a bag, there’s been a definite shift toward sharper right-angles ahead of […]

How To Wear A Belt Bag And Still Look Great

Every year, brings us at least one surprising fashion trend. In 2017, it was the return of the jumpsuit. This year, it is the fact that belt bags are back in vogue. The last time this style of bag was considered fashionable was the 90s. Then, most people owned one. Yet they ended up being thought of as being ugly and unattractive and have been difficult to get hold of since then. So, it is a bit surprising to see them come back so strongly, this year. But, they have, and you will be pleased to know that this season’s versions are far more stylish than the original ones were. Cross-body Perhaps the most versatile waist bags are the ones that feature an additional cross-body strap. Potentially you could use them in the same way you would a regular handbag. If you opt for leather, look for one that has a narrow waist strap. Many of these are designed so that you can remove the bag part and wear the strap as a belt. In situations, where security is a worry, this style of waist bag is an excellent choice. In crowds, you can use both the waist and cross-body strap. This will hold your bag close to the body. As a shoulder bag Potentially, you can wear a bum bag tucked under or against your arm. When you do that they look far more stylish. Plus, they are really comfortable when you wear them that way. This is also a good way of keeping your belongings secure. The zip opening is tucked up next to your body making it practically impossible for a pickpocket to get in and dip your bag. A pretty quilted velvet waist bag For a party, choose one that is made from a luxury fabric. […]

The A-listers may be the first to step out in the new-season pieces, but we already have our favourites which we ourselves are one day hoping to be the proud owners of. Roberto Cavalli box clutch: Yay or Nay?

We love it because… Not much can match up to the feeling of handling a box fresh bag. The buttery-soft leather, fingerprint-free hardware and cool status appeal make it all the more desirable, and when it’s got a high end fashion house’s name behind it, resistance is futile. This week, tempting us with its easy-on-the-eye charm is the Roberto Cavalli metal and leather box clutch (£1,720). This ornate conversation-starter is sure to make you the envy of your party pals, but not before stealing the show with its eye-opening detail. It’s a definite yay from us on these counts… Perfect party bag: Who wants to lug around a tote-sized party pooper on their arm, when you can have a miniature beauty do all the hard work without cramping your style? Ultra-luxe investment: If you’re looking to drop some serious cash, then this rather pricey option might serve as the ideal finishing touch to your party night look. 2-in-1 bag: Is it a clutch, or is a shoulder bag? It’s both! The super-handy detachable shoulder strap makes this box clutch an easy carry-around. Then again, we’re not so sure… Price: Well, with a price tag hitting the 2K mark, you’re sure as hell set to become a devotee of the baked bean diet for some time. Limiting size: Although we love its tiny size, its not always practical to call a small square your ‘bag for the night.’ Past a few absolute essentials, you won’t be cramming much else in here. Fragile: The ridiculously stunning exterior detail means this bag needs a watchful eye on it; don’t go swinging it about once you scale those tables after a tequila shot, (or three). Shop it here: Roberto Cavalli metal and leather box clutch, £1,720, available at My Theresa.

Anya Hindmarch Swan Vestas Imperial matchbox clutch: Yay or Nay?

We’re digging’ it because… Who wouldn’t love a fashionable spin on household essentials? After making us drool at the household essentials-gone-haute accessories collection for autumn/winter ’14, a rather covered style from the Anya Hindmarch spring/summer ‘14 collection has landed on our radar. Enter the Swan Vestas Imperial matchbox clutch. With its gold metal framed box style encased in luxe printed python, and grey lizard top and bottom panels, you’d be forgiven for thing it was the Queen Bee of the clutch collective! Tempted to take it home? Read on. Why we’re totally saying yay… Luxe investment: If you’re looking to splash major monies on your next handbag treat, then the Swan Vestas clutch is right there with the best of them. A luxury exterior paired with stunning detail is a winning combination, didn’t you know? Great for accessorising day or night: Now that the evening clutch rule has long been forgotten, add interest to a simple day look with this conversation-starting option, and you’re sure to win a few fashion fans. Easy to style: Given that neutral tones of grey, white and gold are paired together, you won’t struggle to style this clutch with your wider wardrobe. Sometimes, the Anna Dello Russo approach to colour isn’t always the best way. And, erm, maybe nay… Price: Yes, it’s sadly a little (OK, very) steep. *Cough* £1,295 *Cough* Trend-centric appeal: We blame Charlotte Olympia and Sophia Webster for further fueling our love for statement-making (literally) clutch bags. A coveted book cover or phrase is great, but can you sniff a repeat wear? Size: Sadly, a matchbox clutch is going to live up to its name, right? Although it’s bigger than an actual Swan matchbox, you won’t get past squeezing the bare essentials in. If you’re after copious amounts of space when splashing […]

Putting a modern spin on the vintage vanity case, the Vanessa clutch features a nifty inner mirror, and a compartment large enough to hold your iPad. Below, we give you three very good reasons why were saying yes (and no – we’re terrible at playing biased-towards-the-bag) to the Vanessa clutch: YAY Flattering colour: The jade green marbled exterior exudes elegant appeal, and is guaranteed to complement most pieces in your wardrobe. 2-in-1 accessory: Is it a clutch? Or is it an iPad case? It’s both! Ingeniously blending a front row-worthy exterior with a spacious interior large enough to carry all generations of  iPad, the Vanessa clutch is perfect for the girl on the go. Novelty factor: Don’t you just love that ‘meh’ expression on the face of the clutch? The gold glitter perks it up no end, and, frankly, we need to add it to our brimming emoji collection! NAY Limited carrying capacity: Although we love that the Vanessa clutch could safely house an iPad, and offers the perfect mirror for emergency lipstick touch-ups, its box form means you won’t be able to squeeze much else in it. Think hard: Is a two bag situation your thing? Price: With a hefty £800 price tag, will you be willing to take the financial plunge? It doesn’t really boast tote-sized qualities to justify its price tag, so you’ll need to do […]

Label we love? Torula Bags

A lot of brands come with an interesting back story these days; none more so than Torula Bags. Founded in 2008 by Anglo-French designer Emeline Coates, Torula Bags started small at London’s Portobello Road Market before spreading its metaphorical wings and conquering Parisian boutiques over the next few years. However, the label is coming home, and it’s going to be bigger, better and more British than ever. To coincide with the “embracing its roots” mantra, the new Torula Bags collections are all named after some of the most well-known and stylish areas in London; Bond Street, Hyde Park, and even world-famous bell tower Big Ben himself – it’s all in there! So the label really is the best of both worlds as it’s the perfect, multi-cultural blend of Parisian chic meets British finery. Check out five of the hottest handbags currently on the website – oh, and did we mention they’re all on sale, too? Bond Street Black Canvas and Blue, £185 £129 Is it a clutch? It is a shoulder bag? It’s both! No need to compromise, wear this bag however you choose as it also comes with a slender chain-like strap. There are lots of colour combos, but the blue and black stands out the most for us. So bold! Hyde Park Black Ostrich, £105 £73 Fresh from the Hyde Park collation, this soft clutch will have admirers shaking their heads with disbelief when they find out it cost you just £73. It comes in black ostrich imitation leat her with a chic gold leather strap and green suede lining, and looks like it came straight off a Haute Couture runway. Angel Coral, £110 £77 Angel by name, and heavenly by nature, this classic quilted bag handles like a dream. The perfect addition to all day and night […]

Hedi Slimane’s latest woo-you weapon is a killer (pun totally intended), and one we’re putting under this week’s Yay or Nay spotlight. Now, we’re well accustomed to the fact that, Saint Laurent’s sexy-punk rebel gear isn’t particularly pocket friendly, but a girl can dream, right? A boxy shoulder bag that doubles up as a clutch, we’re digging the Betty’s versatility. But does the latest arm candy on the block really cut it? Classic style: The gold stud embellishment and snake chain shoulder strap bring a classic finish to an evening staple, so you won’t run out of outfit options to pair your Betty with. Nay  Price: Possibly forcing you into financial ruin, the Betty’s price tag is pitched at a painful £1,720! Yep, prepare for the ‘baked bean and air’ diet. The gorgeous clutches come in a selection of shagreen, suede, satin, and lizardskin, and are available in black and dove grey taurillon or shimmering gold, red, blue or bronze python. Basically – a lot of colours and materials! The clutches come in two sizes, but if the bigger size still isn’t large enough for you, you can use it to carry your favourite tablet in instead. Erin O’Connor, Petra Nemcova, Chloe Moretz and the gorgeous Olivia Munn pictured above are just a few of the famous faces seen clutching them on the red carpet… what do you think?

Valentino PVC Rockstud Shoulder Bag: Yay or Nay?

Deep from the deliciously luxe depths of atelier Valentino, the famed Rockstud is back in a more updated version for spring. Produced in a new season favourite PVC and leather mix, the Rockstud Shoulder Bag dips into the fashion world’s latest affection for all things transparent; from Christian Louboutin’s A-list favourite PVC cap-toe pumps to Charlotte Olympia’s covetable Perspex clutches, chic flash-fleshing is the trend du jour! So when we caught sight of the Rockstud Shoulder Bag in all its nude, tough-luxe, studded glory, and after already haven fallen crazily in love with this leather tote and divine pumps from the same collection, we couldn’t help but size it up for purchasing potential. Valentino wares don’t come in as the most cost-effective purchases in your wardrobe, but it’s a luxe affair, and one that’s sure to bash the bank balance. So, to make the decision easier, we’ve put the Rockstud Shoulder Bag under this week’s Yay or Nay spotlight, and here are reasons for and against indulging in this Italian stallion: YAY 2-in-1 Bag: The removable chain link shoulder strap and Rockstud-adorned front handle instantly transforms this bag into the perfect evening clutch, and we’re suckers for a 2-for-1 fashion situation! Flattering colourway: The soft nude powder leather trim, accented by the gold-tone hardware is sure to sit right with just about every colour in your wardrobe; it’s a chic intervention. Perfect mix of feminine and fierce: Mastering the tough-sweet mix, this bag is ideal for fashion lovers preferring the rebellious side of style. NAY Price: An eye-watering £ 1,130. Yes, we know that painful, defeated-by-the-overused-overdraft look on your face. Transparent: Well, we know the PVC trend is all the rage right now, but do you really want the contents of your bag in full view of the general pubic? Unless […]

Lanvin Enamelled Resin Perfume Show Clutch: Yay or Nay?

Accessories by the French fashion house, Lanvin, are the epitome of unadulterated glamour. Pricey, luxurious and with real season-transcending value, Lanvin’s super-statement jewels and hand-held box clutches are an A-list favourite, with everyone from J-Lo to Emma Stone and Demi Moore die-hard fans. So when our peepers landed on this week’s Yay or Nay piece, it’s safe to say we were more than enthralled – and not just by the price tag! Capturing the essence (pardon the pun) of the Parisians’ flair for fashion, the Enamelled Resin Perfume Show Clutch is a lesson in bags that scream wow. No one ever said high fashion was going to be particularly practical, and judging by the form the Perfume Clutch takes (yep, you guessed it!), and its eyeball-popping price tag of a whopping £2,075, we won’t blame you for spending A LOT of time in pre-purchase contemplation. To help you decide whether to shell out or steer clear of this Lanvin beauty, we’ve weighed up the pros and cons below. Will you or won’t you? YAY Collectible: It’s one of those accessory purchases you just cannot bring yourself to use, and we don’t blame you. The plexiglass exterior and delicious gold coloured metal hardware makes us want to stare at it, rather than stuff it with makeup! Visual appeal: The perfume bottle silhouette and pretty detail set the Perfume Show Clutch apart as conversation starter, for sure. Minaudiere trend: A continuation of the fashion house’s knack for creating desirable cigarette box minaudieres, the Perfume Show Clutch is ideal if you want hand candy to accent an evening outfit, but don’t want to sport a massive clutch bag. NAY Impractical size: If you’re one to justify extreme handbag expenditure with how much bag space you’re actually getting, then the Perfume Clutch isn’t worth investing in. […]

Christopher Kane Baby Frankenstein Embossed Leather Bag: Yay or Nay?

Casting quite the spell with yet another stunning collection for autumn/winter 2013/14, Christopher Kane is once again on our Yay or Nay radar. This time, the Baby Frankenstein bag takes centre stage, as we ponder over the pros and cons of getting our handbag hungry mitts on this avant garde beauty. We call it this because, just like the character it’s named after (the bolt top handle is a big giveaway) this bag made us look twice. ‘Ugly’ in an intriguing way (if that makes sense!), the Baby Frankenstein is a mash-up of Kane’s alternative vision; combining wearability with superior design credentials, this clutch-tote mash-up will effortlessly serve as a conversation starter. In this season’s most desirable hue, white, the floral embossed-leather bag has a button fastened front flap and an optional clear-plastic large bolt top-handle. Here are our reasons for and against investing in the Baby Frankenstein: Yay On trend: The spring 2013 runways called for a whitewash, and the Baby Frankenstein takes this colour trend on board perfectly. A bag is an easy way to tap into a trend without outfit overkill. 2-for-1 bag: The detachable bolt top-handle allows this bag to become an evening-perfect clutch and a day appropriate tote, all at once. So, the hefty fee you pay allows the Baby Frankenstein to fall into the buy one, get one free territory. Savvy shopping or what! Directional-yet-pretty: Perfectly embodying Kane’s style aesthetic, the Baby Frankenstein effortlessly marries everyday use with surprising detail. The floral embossed detail is feminine, yet the clear plastic handle brings out the bag’s (and the Kane woman’s) second style personality. Nay Price: Erm, a clutch-sized double bag for £1,500? Is that our bank balance we can hear wailing in deep agony? Stain easily: As much as we love its minimalist connotations, white […]

Olympia Le-Tan designs limited edition clutch for Lancôme

It was only last week we told you about Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz collaborating with Lancôme on what sounded like a pretty epic make-up range, but that’s not the only side project the French cosmetics brand is working on. Lancôme has also teamed up with Olympia Le Tan, the designer behind those awesome book clutches loved by fashionistas and celebs alike (Michelle Williams was spotted carrying our favourite Catcher in the Rye one a few years ago) for a special one-off collaboration. Olympia has designed a limited edition clutch bag which celebrates Lancôme’s ‘Rouge In Love’ lipsticks and nail polishes. We really did mean “limited” by the way, as only 100 have been made (Emma Watson’s already been given the first one) so if you want one, head to Harvey Nichols next month with £995 and you’ll be one of the bag’s very few lucky owners. Michael Kors seeks inspiration from the Middleton girls for his new bag

So powerful is Kate Middleton that she doesn’t even need to be snapped in an outfit for the designer to benefit from “the Kate effect” anymore. As a self-confessed bag fiend, I really am quite taken with the Michael Michael Kors ‘Middleton’ shoulder bag. It ticks all the right boxes as it comes in the timeless tan colour and is definitely big enough to fit all my everyday essentials in. And before you ask, an iPad, camera, iPhone, make-up bag, hairspray, hairbrush, purse, hand sanitizer, scarf, charger, keys and Oyster card really are all daily necessities! It also looks just as good hand-held as it does if it was casually flung over the shoulder. Plus it looks like it would come in really handy for London Fashion Week for all those invites! There’s only one problem I have with the bag… and that’s the name. I’m all for naming a bag after the Middletons – Kate in particular – but I would have liked some evident Middleton influences within the design. We all know the Duchess loves a good clutch, but there’s nothing about this (albeit beautiful) piece of arm candy that makes me associate it with either Middleton girl which is a real shame. Still, I have no doubt that the bag will be a popular choice, especially with shoppers across the pond who are even more fixated with the sisters than we are. Well played Michael Kors! Five investment bags not worth investing in!

We’re all for investment bags, but there are a fair few that just aren’t worth the hefty price tag, and the things you’ll have to give up in order to afford them. I’d just like to point out that I have personally tapped into the “rainy day” piggy bank on several occasions for a  piece of sumptuous, scrumptious and downright beautiful pieces of arm candy, but there are some that even a bag hag like me is able to resist and find the strength to not invest in. As I’ve said before, there aren’t many bags that I would say no to, but here’s a list of 5 that definitely won’t be tempting me anytime soon! The Row Caviar Backpack A/W 2012 Sorry Mary-Kate and Ashley. I’ve loved you from the Full House days and adore your work for The Row but I’m not a fan of this backpack or the hefty price tag. I’d happily give up food to buy a handbag (and as a Greek, this is a bold statement – we like our food!) but this is definitely not one of the pieces I’d sacrifice a lamb kebab for. Balenciaga Papier A4 python print tote If I had Brangelina’s bank account, then I wouldn’t think twice about snapping one of these badboys up, but for us everygirls, the non croc, less in your face and slightly less expensive Balenciaga bags are a better investment. They make pretty much the same statement, you’d be able to get away with wearing them during every season no matter what, we won’t be afraid to take them out of the dust bags, and we won’t be dreading a call from the bailiffs. Winner! Judith Leiber Puppy Sequin clutch bag I love puppies and dammit I love bags but I don’t think […]
