Peaches Geldof dies age 25, celebs pay tribute on Twitter

We’re saddened to wake up to the news that Peaches Geldof has died at the age of 25. Sir Bob Geldof’s daughter, mother of two sons 23-month-old Astala and 11-month-old Phaedra and wife to Thomas Cohen was reportedly found dead at her home in Kent yesterday afternoon. Police have described the death as “sudden” and “unexplained”, and are not treating is as suspicious, although the exact cause of her death is currently not known. “Peaches has died. We are beyond pain,” her father Sir Bob Geldof wrote in an official statement. “She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us. “Writing ‘was’ destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable? “We loved her and will cherish her forever. How sad that sentence is. Tom and her sons Astala and Phaedra will always belong in our family, fractured so often, but never broken. Her father wasn’t the only one to comment, as a host of celebrities – some who knew Peaches and some who didn’t – took to Twitter to offer their condolences. Lily Allen wrote: “My thoughts are with Peaches’ family at this awful time. I hope they get to grieve in peace. Peaches, rest in peace gorgeous girl.” Holly Willoughby wrote: “Just heard about Peaches, so unbelievably tragic. So shocked and sad. Sending my thoughts and love to her family. Kelly Osbourne wrote: Words seem inadequate 2 express the sadness I feel about @peaches_g death We are here 2 support U @pixiegeldof1 stay strong my little Pepsi! Ellie Goulding vs. Peaches Geldof…Who wore Dolce & Gabbana better?

OK, you know the drill. One dress, two girls, and a whole lotta fashion bitchin’! Giving us fashion for thought this week are Ellie Goulding and Peaches Geldof, who recently stepped out in the same Dolce & Gabbana gown. First to step into the gown was Peaches, taking to red carpet at the London premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, last month. With her scraped back into a wispy updo, a slick of red on the lips and a chain strap shoulder bag to accessorise, Peaches brings her signature causal cool to this sexy red carpet look. But giving Peaches a run for her red carpet style was Ellie Goulding, or appeared at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Awards last week, in the same gown. Opting to go with her classic look of tousled hair worn down, and very neutral makeup, Ellie kept things pretty simple, accessorising only with some small earrings. So, whose look takes the crown? Both ladies brought their own to this gorgeous look, but, for us, Peaches wins by an few style miles! Her choice to team the look with a colourful lip was on point, and the updo does justice to the strapless bustier detail of the dress. Naturally, she brings a grittier edge to the look. Ellie looks great, too, but the simple makeup and soft blonde locks have a draining effect. We’re not Starry Eyed this time, Ellie… Agree with our fash-off verdict? Whose look wins for you? Peaches… a muse?

Peaches Geldof is Biba’s new muse. The 20 year old star, who launched a capsule collection with PPQ last year and is currently the face and body of the Miss Ultimo underwear range, has already filmed a segment to promote new movie ‘Beyond Biba: A Portrait of Barbara Hulanicki’. Peaches, who is the brand’s 2009 muse, said: “Biba is where the foundations of the liberated woman’s choice of clothing were laid. It’s a seminal label and one that is referenced time and time again with modern trends.” Barbara Hulanicki, who has designed her own range of clothes for British high street store Topshop, has been credited with fusing designer and high street fashion.

Peaches doesn’t dress for men

The 20-year-old socialite – who has just created her own fashion range for designers PPQ – insists her style has nothing to do with attracting the opposite sex and admits her look is “weird”. She said: “It’s obvious I’m not dressing for men. I don’t want to be sexy, I’m, like, covered in tattoos. I have piercings. I’m just grungy and weird and not what is socially accepted as being beautiful, and I think that’s cool. I think anti-beauty is amazing. I don’t want to dress for men, I think it’s almost like a feminist thing.”

Nevertheless, people found the strength to remember the real significance behind the Star, and this symbol remains a popular one. Lunchtime buy: Ray-Ban Aviator sunglasses

Last night, us MFL girls were lucky enough to head to the Ray-Ban party in celebration of the iconic aviator at London’s Scala and we were reminded just how effortlessly stylish and timeless these sunglasses really are. Displayed in glass cases and on the heads of many a minor celeb, the aviator was the star of the show. Although we’re not normally advocates of the ‘wearing sunglasses indoors’ movement, last night the Top Gun style shades were out in force as attendees (including Peaches Geldof, Jaime Winstone and Sadie Frost) bopped along to the likes of The Big Pink and New York Dolls and, well, it did seem kind of appropriate. Get your very own pair of classic aviators: £118 from My-Wardrobe.

London Fashion Week SS10: Jaeger London

This show had a very starry front row. Not only was Peaches Geldof, Jade Parfitt, Erin O’Connor and Tamsin Egerton there but David Walliams also put in an appearance. However it wasn’t any of these who caused the catwalk to fall into mass excitement, but instead it was the presence of fashion royalty. Yes Anna Wintour was there looking as polished as ever. But back to the clothes. This was a very seventies inspired collection, and was both wearable and stylish. The colour scheme was fabulous, I adored the postbox red and the mushroom shades, it was a collection very much for the city slicker. There were some great pieces, the playsuits were real winners and the pleated chiffon trousers were stunning. The harems felt a little out of place, I feel that we’ve moved on from this trouser shape. There was a glammed up utility feel with sequins featuring heavily, alongside metallic fabrics and bold monochrome. Culotte style shorts were paired with billowing blouses, long line blazers added a new dimension to the wardrobe staple and the knitted body which shouldn’t work really did. Some great key pieces could be found here, and the pictures don’t really do the collection justice. For this collection is about quality both in terms of textures and fabrics. The handbags are sure to be gracing the arms of the A list. Jaeger London does do some beautiful pieces, and some are very stylish and at times quirky pieces. It’s one of those collections that there’s something for everyone. So next Spring Summer will you be skipping a seventies inspired step?

It’s beautiful dress, not sure why she decided to keep her jeans on though!

London Fashion Week: Charles Anastase AW09

So what do you do, when you’ve put your best clothes on, your wearing staggering high heels, you’ve got your ticket in hand and then you have a door slammed in your face? This was my Charles Anastase experience today. After queuing for a while and having run from John Rocha, I was all ready with my ticket to get into the show. And after much waiting, and complaining of sore feet, we climbed the steps to enter, then the PRs turned and said they were now at full capacity, we couldn’t come in, and with that they closed the door. On the up side this meant I was on time for the next show, and after reviewing the images, I didn’t miss much. How to describe Charles Anastase Autumn/Winter 09? Oh I know, Peaches Geldof. I’m not sure I need to say any more. There was quite a nice striped oversized jumper, but it was no different from something you might pick up in Topshop. A velvet dress with floppy hat was quite cool, very Biba. But these were the only real highlights for they were lost in the mess of platform combat boots, ripped tights, gothic make up and what were in essence dull clothes. Could it get worse? Why of course it can, how do you do a model’s make up at one of the most anticipated shows? Do you go gothic? Romantic? Or maybe creative? Not if you’re Anastase, for he thought it was best to make it look like the models had covered their faces in mud. Nice. So the collection was mainly made up of baggy jeans, scrawled t-shirts, a bit of leopard print… Peaches’ wardrobe. But there was one must have item: see-through nylon trousers, my my, where can I get such wonderous […]

Rosie Huntington-Whitely for Agent Provocateur: A very sexy warning

For anyone who has every forgotten Valentine’s Day and are thinking of making the same mistake this year, you might want to think again. At least for the sake of your face. Yes, Agent Provocateur is at it again with another controversial ad campaign, this time it’s a warning to all men to forget Valentine’s at their peril. A short film entitled Love Me Tender…Or Else sees model of the moment Rosie Huntington-Whiteley being fobbed off by her boyfriend on Valentine’s. Rosie then appears at the boyfriend’s office dressed in a trench, heels and the sexiest lingerie around. She then delivers a lap dance, the finale is however less straightforward, if you don’t want to know the end please look away now: She punches him in the face. The scene ends with Rosie speaking the fateful words: “This will teach you to forget Valentine’s Day. We shouldn’t be surprised, Kate Moss sauntered around in suspenders, Maggie Gyllenhaal stripped, Kylie Minogue rode a bucking broncho and Peaches Geldof took part in some form of virgin sacrifice campaign. Yet, I can’t help but feel slightly shocked by the violence involved in this latest offering. Is it harmless, sexy fun? Or have they gone a step to far? Watch for yourself: Love me tender… or else

Interviews: Celebrity Stylist, Zoe Lem

In the world of fashion, Zoe Lem does it all. Whether it’s styling the stars for the red carpet and participants on the UK version of “What Not to Wear, or flying off to the Middle East to work with the English language version of the Al-Jazeera news network, she’s been there, done that, and with a certain je ne sais quoi. Lem trained as a designer before deciding to focus on styling, and now her work can be seen on A-list celebs, magazine covers, music videos, and a myriad of other places. So, the favourite question to ask stylists and designers: who would you consider to be your biggest influences? That really is a difficult one to give a one word answer, I am very inspired by vintage clothing and the 20’s through to 50’s there was such beautiful style. If it’s who rather than what, then there is no one person. But my mother was really so into clothing growing up, even now her favorite shop is Topshop and she has a very funky style. I was brought up on charity shops, markets and finding great bargains in unusual places, a long while before it was cool to go for second hand chic!
