Cheryl Cole is all white in Stella McCartney dress

You’d think that we’d be bored of white and itching for some colour after watching the male and female tennis players in Wimbledon all this week, but that’s not the case. Au contraire, we’ve rediscovered our love of the colour (or lack thereof) thanks to the tennis competition, and Cheryl Cole’s latest outfit has only gone and made our love even greater. Cheryl attended the Newcastle X Factor auditions yesterday in a gorgeous white dress from the Stella McCartney Resort 2014 collection, proving that understated elegance still works wonders. We assume she wanted to pull out all the stops for the Newcastle auditions seeing as it’s her home town, and we definitely think she succeeded. The nude pumps and chic up-do added to the subtle glamour of the look, making this yet another style triumph for our Geordie Princess.

Ellie Goulding is Glamour UK’s August cover girl!

Ellie Goulding is no stranger to flashing the flesh – that X Factor performance from last year isn’t easily forgotten! – so it doesn’t surprise us to see her showing some serious cleavage once again. The Burn singer is the cover star of Glamour UK’s August issue, flashing the flesh somewhat tastefully and showcasing a pretty cool blue ensemble at the same time, too. Very summery, indeed! We’re pretty intrigued by that “new love, new power” headline as we are crossing our fingers that Ellie might dish the dirt on her relationship with McFly’s Dougie Poynter. Here’s hoping! Ellie’s Glamour issue is out on Monday July 7th,so we don’t have too long to wait, so make sure you grab your copy to read her interview and see what other designer pieces she is rocking in the accompanying editorial.

Cheryl Cole wows in DSquared2 and Philosophy for Elle UK August cover

We’ve barely flicked through all the July fashion glossies – and are still waiting patiently for the American Vogue July cover to surface – so we haven’t even started thinking about August issues yet. But lo and behold, the Elle UK August cover has found itself online and we’re not gonna lie – we’re pretty grateful that it has. We’re so thankful that the cover has arrived sooner rather than later, as it features the one and only Miss Cheryl Cole. How incredible does she look on the cover? Cheryl was shot by Ben Morris, and is rocking a pretty drool-worthy selection of designer threads on the cover and editorial shoot, including pieces from Gucci, J Brand, Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton, Burberry and Christopher Kane. Oh and in case you wanted to know what she’s wearing on the cover, it’s DSquared2, Philosophy and Manolo Blahnik. Phew – we think that’s everything! This is one issue of the fashion glossy that you won’t want to miss, as Cheryl opens up about some pretty deep subjects, including being on the verge of a breakdown, how she feels about having children, and why she chose to return to The X Factor. Like we said, it’s un-missable!

The best make-up artists to the stars

The average person may not be able to afford the services of a top make-up artist – but it would be silly to ignore some of their top tips. While it may seem that the stars of stage and screen are flawless, this is helped in no small part by the work of such women as Gucci Westman, Alexis Vogel, Jackie Tyson, Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier. Alexis works in all areas of the entertainment industry, making up everyone from top models to big names of the stage and screen. She has worked with such icons as Pamela Anderson, Kelly Clarkson, Sharon Stone, Lisa Marie Presley, Paula Abdul and Bo Derek. Trendsetter She says she has been an image-setter for 25 years and claims her unique skill is inventing new styles and looks. She believes looking great starts before you even reach for your cosmetics case. Wearing a good facial sunscreen is one of her top tips. Bobbi Brown is one of the most famous make-up artists in the world, showing off her work on the front pages of such magazines as Elle and Vogue, and selling her cosmetics line to Estee Lauder. Bobbie’s natural style She became well-known for her natural style in the 1980s, which was hugely different to the colourful palettes used by many of her contemporaries. One of Bobbi’s top tips is to choose an under-eye concealer which is one or two shades lighter than your foundation. Gucci works with big names such as actresses Jennifer Garner and Demi Moore, whilst Laura is probably best-known for her range of make-up. Jackie is the make-up artist for Britain’s Got Talent and The X Factor. Safety first When thinking about make-up products, there are many available to help you follow tips from the experts, but the top advice […]

Jennifer Garner nails the flared jumpsuit in Max Mara

Offering a very welcome alternative to the little black dress is a black jumpsuit – a piece that Jennifer Garner looked absolutely stunning in as she attended the Draft Day premiere in Los Angeles last night. The actress rocked a black Max Mara jumpsuit at the premiere, and teamed it with a waist-cinching black belt and minimal accessories. We’re not sure what shoes Jen was wearing on this occasion due to the flared bottom of the jumpsuit, but we think it was absolutely the right decision to keep her shoes hidden. It’s a bit risky going for this option (Cheryl Cole at her infamous X Factor USA auditions proved that it can go very wrong!) but we think Jennifer nailed it. Flawless glamorous hair and make-up completed Jennifer’s understated but fabulous look.

First look at Nicole Scherzinger’s debut Missguided collection

We don’t think Nicole Scherzinger will be too disappointed with Cheryl Cole’s return to the X Factor, as she has plenty of other projects to keep her busy. As well as a hot new music career to think about, Scherzy has launched her debut collection with Missguided which we told you about a few months ago – and we have the first look at some of the pieces right here! “It’s inspired by the catwalk mixed with my personal style,” Nicole said. “I would describe it as clean, sexy, strong and graphic but also classy and feminine; it’s urban chic. “I love the dresses and the racer back tees, you can dress them up or down depending on the occasion. I am also a huge fan of the fishnet pieces, I designed them to look edgy but still be classy. It’s all what I wear myself, I love to funk it up but still keep it clean.” We think her description of the Missguided pieces are absolutely spot on; the 30-piece collection definitely comprises of fun pieces that are perfect for wearing for a night out on the town. Plus, Nicole does a fine job of modelling them! Can we all look as good as Nicole in the pieces? Gosh, we hope so! [Daily Mail]

Is Kelly Rowland’s Houghton NYFW look grand or garish?

Palazzo pants are totally in again! At least, Kelly Rowland thinks they are/wants them to be if her appearance at New York Fashion Week is anything to go by. The singer and former X Factor UK judge was attending the Houghton autumn/winter 2014 show as part of the first day of New York Fashion Week in, you guessed it, the Big Apple, yesterday, and definitely turned a few heads with her ensemble. We wonder if she thought the dress code was “go big or go home”? We’re glad she turned up in Houghton to support the young label, but we can’t help but wish that she chose something a little less garish for her seat on the FROW. As loud and large as her clothes were though, we are totally in love with her soft and subtle make-up. The gold eyeshadow illuminates her big brown eyes beautifully, and the sleek hair style was absolute perfection!

Kelly Rowland vs. Jordin Sparks…Who wore Torn by Ronny Kobo better?

It really throws us at HQ, the way one dress can look so completely different styled on two people. And this week, dividing opinion are two ladies in a simple, curve-skimming number. Enter Kelly Rowland and Jordin Sparks in the Torn by Ronny Kobo Moira dress. Both sporting perfect bodies – and vocals – naturally we had to weigh in. First up to slip in to the white mock turtle neck dress was Kelly, who took to the X Factor stage late last year in said dress. Paired with a tiered necklace and ankle-strap dolly shows, Kelly opted for mid-parted bangs and long, glossy locks to complete her look. But, giving the leggy crooner a run for her money was Jordin Sparks, who was a vision of voluptuous perfection at the Welcome to New York Red, White and Black Super Bowl party last week. Opting for a slicked back high ponytail, minimal make-up and matching white pumps, sleek earrings and a winning smile effortlessly rounded off the look. So, who topped the style poll this week? Sorry Kelly, but we’re crowning Jordin victorious! Kelly’s attempt to add interest to the simple dress went a bit overboard, as the open hair, fussy necklace and high neckline all appear a little try hard when put together. Although simple, Jordin’s look is impactful, and we’re all for head-turning minimalism! Whose look wins for you? [Images: Kelly; Jordin]

Nicole Scherzinger x Missguided clothing collection!

As much as we love high end designer/celebrity collaborations, there’s nothing we love more than famous faces joining forces with the high street and affordable fashion boutiques. Enter Nicole Scherzinger and Missguided! Yep, our favourite Pussycat Doll and X Factor judge has teamed up with Missguided for her very first clothing collaboration that will comprise of sexy dresses, tops, skirts, jumpsuits and bodysuits – all of which will come at super-affordable prices! “I’m so excited to be collaborating with Missguided! I’ve worn their clothes in the past, as I’m a big fan,” Nicole said. “This is my first time designing my own collection and I can’t imagine a more perfect fit.” And it looks like the Missguided team are pretty chuffed with their new designer too… “Working with Nicole was a natural choice for us. She’s personable, fun and loves to experiment with fashion, all qualities that truly represent our customer,” said Nitin Passi, Missguided’s Managing Director and founder. “She is a great ambassador for the brand and we’re excited to see the response to the collection.” So are we! The 30-piece collection is slated to launch in March; keep your eyes peeled for more deets as and when we get them! [Sun Daily]

Kelly Rowland vs. Kate Bosworth…Who wore Balmain better?

Two ladies. One blingin’ dress. You know the drill. This week’s fash-off comes courtesy of leggy lovely, Kelly Rowland and Hollywood darling Kate Bosworth. Both ladies were spotted in the same Balmain Fall 2013 dress, albeit with very different style results. Although a top, thanks to the oversize fit, Kate was the first one to turn this embellished showstopper into a dress, at the 2013 Met Gala. Unlike the runway look, Kate went with bare legs, a gold belt to cinch the waist and simple black pumps. A small black clutch and strong eyeliner completed the look nicely. But catching up with Kate in the style stakes was X Factor judge Kelly Rowland, who styled the same dress differently for an appearance on season three of the American show, last year. Pairing the top-cum-dress with nothing other than white Tom Ford pumps and her voluminous locks, Kelly rocked a killer pose, as she posted the outfit on Instagram. But, seeing as it’s a fash-off, there can only be one winner, so we’re going to slip the first style crown of 2014 onto Kate’s head! There isn’t much that Kelly can’t 100 per cent rock, but we love Kate’s accessories, and feel the belt does wonders to frame her petite shape. Definitely a striking, and memorable look from 2013! Whose look wins for you? [Images: Kelly; Kate]

Alessandra Ambrosio shimmers in Hugo Boss for amfAR Gala

Oh to be a Victoria’s Secret Angel! Oh to have the height, figure, tan and body confidence of Alessandra Ambrosio! Whether she is strutting along the VS catwalk wearing very little, heading to the gym, taking care of her yummy mummy duties in barely there make-up and baggy clothes, or attending a glam red carpet event such as the one in the pic above, Alessandra Ambrosio never fails to wow us. And although we should hate her for that, we can’t help but fall under her “Angelic” spell. Alessandra rocked up to the amfAR Inspiration Gala in Hollywood last night, and opted to wear a sparkly floor-length dress from the Hugo Boss autumn/winter 2013 collection for the occasion. Her arms and legs may have been covered, but the all-out sex factor was there in bucket-loads thanks to the dangerously plunging front. Flawless make-up, tumbling waves and a winning smile completed her seductive look!

Get Miley Cyrus’s metallic look

It’s not often we find ourselves wanting to steal Miley Cyrus’s look these days; mainly because there aren’t many items of clothing to actually “steal” and we’re far too cold and body conscious to attempt channeling her barely-there outfits. However, we were huge fans of the metallic Marc Jacobs dress she stepped out on the X Factor stage in last weekend, and have wanted to rock a similar dress for a fraction of the price. Luckily, this metallic dress from Key Fashion has come to the rescue, which means we can copy Miley (and Nicole Richie, who also rocked the dress if you don’t want to tell people you were inspired by someone a lot younger than you!) for a fraction of the price. Headpiece optional! Talk about an early Christmas present! Metallic dress, £120, Key Fashion available at Spottedonceleb

Marge Simpson recreates our favourite fashion icon moments

What’s your ultimate, most iconic fashion memory? Was it Kate Middleton’s Issa engagement dress? Perhaps you like to go classic and Audrey Hepburn’s Givenchy dress in Breakfast at Tiffany‘s is more up your street? Or maybe you like to go modern and sexy and Kate Moss’s recent Playboy pose has bumped the others off the list? Well it doesn’t matter, because Marge Simpson has channelled them all thanks to a series of photos by world-renowned artist AleXsandro Palombo. “There is a Marge Simpson is every woman and with this tribute I wanted to ignite the magic that is in every women; the strength, femininity, elegance, eroticism and beauty,” Palombo said. ” Each of these dresses really changed the course of the history of costume, giving a new aesthetic vision that has anticipated major changes in our society. “In many cases it’s the dress that has transformed a woman into an icon, but in many others, it’s the personality of the women that has enlightened the dress.” And we think Marge Simpson has, at the risk of sounding like an X Factor judge, made the dress her own! Click here to see the rest of the pictures, which include Marge’s take on dresses worn by Elizabeth Hurley, Victoria Beckham and Marilyn Monroe. We think you know the one!

Naomi Campbell’s protégée Emma Holmes crowned The Face UK

Last night we were glued to our television screens, waiting in anticipation for the winner of The Face UK – and a Max Factor contract – to be announced. The girl who was victorious was none other than one of Naomi Campbell’s girls – Emma Holmes! Congratulations! The final was pretty intense, as Emma beat off stiff competition from Erin O’Connor’s girl Elaine Nturo, as well as Caroline Winberg’s remaining girl Eleanor Corcoran. So how does Emma feel about winning that coveted Max Factor contract? “I’m excited, I’m really excited! We filmed the final in mid-June so it’s been really hard to keep it a secret,” she said. “I told my mum, one of my friends and some family that came to the final, but other than that I haven’t really told many people. “A lot of girls at my age are just starting their career – for me, it’s an amazing opportunity to be a brand ambassador of Max Factor already because I get to start a bit further up the chain.” Emma’s first role as the face of Max Factor will see her star in the Christmas Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara campaign, which will appear nationwide next month. Lily Collins wows in Julien Macdonald for Glamour Women of the Year Awards

Lily Collins is growing up before our very eyes, and her style is evolving with each and every flawless red carpet appearance. We weren’t surprised to see her in attendance of the Glamour Women of the Year Awards, and definitely weren’t surprised to see her own the red carpet in her head-turning ensemble. Lily decided to wear a stunning nude dress with a thigh high split, which came fresh from the Julien Macdonald spring/summer 2013 collection. Julien Macdonald loves him some flesh, feathers, and sparkle – look at Ellie Goulding’s X Factor look for an extreme example – but it was all toned down and kept in moderation for this gorgeous gown. Chic and understated – just like Miss Collins herself! Lily accessorised with nude shoes and striking red lipstick. We think she looked smouldering, and was without a doubt our best-dressed lady there.

Downton Abbey’s Joanne Froggatt turns heads in leafy John Rocha

We may have been glued to our television screens watching Downton Abbey after the X Factor results show last night, but Joanne Froggatt had other engagements at the weekend. The Downton Abbey actress attended the 2013 BFI London Film Festival awards at London’s Banqueting House on Saturday night, and definitely stole the sartorial show in her head-turning high-fashion ensemble. Joanne opted to wear a very out-there leaf skirt from the John Rocha autumn/winter 2013 collection, letting it do all the talking by keeping the rest of her outfit simple. She could have kept her hair and make-up to a bare minimum too, but we’re actually glad she chose to have her glamorous blonde waves tumbling down her shoulders, and dramatic eyes to really bring the daring look home! Saying no to other accessories like necklaces and bracelets was definitely a good move, though. A flawless red carpet appearance – definitely one to watch in terms of fashionista status!

The 2013 Pride of Britain Awards – the best dressed!

Last night, London’s Grosvenor House played host to the 2013 Pride of Britain Awards, which were attended by a multitude of well-dressed celebs from Louise Redknapp to Christine Bleakley to everyone else inbetween. There were a few ladies who stood out the most to us – for all the right reasons, of course – and they were Pixie Lott, Girls Aloud’s Kimberly Walsh, and Nicole Scherzinger. We predict Nicole will be popping up a lot in this section over the next few months thanks to the X Factor live shows that start this Saturday! Pixie Lott added some character to the red carpet in her spring/summer 2014 Yuvna Kim dress which she accessorised with a cute sparkly headband and a gravity-defying bee-hive. Kimberley Walsh went for a timeless, elegant look in a white long-sleeved Halston Heritage dress; we adore her sleek straight blonde locks and ruby red lips. Simplicity still goes a long, long way! And as usual Nicole Scherzinger went for the sex factor in her sleek, understated but oh so smouldering black dress courtesy of Amanda Wakeley. A true vision! Who gets your best-dressed vote?

Downton Abbey’s Joanne Froggatt vamps it up in Hervé Léger

She’s a long way from Downton Abbey, that’s for sure! Downton Abbey star Joanne Froggatt looked the furthest thing from her on-screen character Anna Bates last night, as she walked the red carpet for the premiere of her brand new film, Filth. Joanne may have been wearing a figure-hugging bodycon dress by the one and only Hervé Léger (what else?!), but she kept her look on the demure and age-appropriate side by opting for a below-the-knee version. Still every bit as enticing we think you’ll agree! The caged sandals, seductive smoky eye make-up and voluminous waves in her hair added to her sex factor transformation. We wouldn’t have minded a cheeky bit of wrist candy to complement her sandals, but that’s only a minor detail.

Nicole Scherzinger vs. Mollie King…Who wore Three Floor better?

‘Scuse the pun, if you will, but a jumpsuit really makes us, well, jump for joy! And the prospect of setting up a careful jumpsuit-off between two very gorgeous ladies excites us even more. This week’s sartorial showdown comes courtesy of raven-haired beauty, Nicole Scherzinger, and crooning Brit beauty with the infectious smile, Mollie ‘Sats’ King. Both ladies took to two very different events in the same Three Floor jumpsuit, and, naturally, we were onto them like Kim K to a new endorsement deal! (Love you really, Kim) Now, we’ve already waxed lyrical about Scherzy’s red carpet look at this year’s X Factor launch. Sporting red heels, an enviable glow and possibly the best curled locks in town, she looked pretty darn perfect! Adding an extra lift with a slick of sunshine yellow on her nails, the gorgeous judge definitely hinted at who’s boss in the style stakes for X Factor 2013. But only a few days before Nicole slipped into said jumpsuit, Mollie King attended the European premiere of We’re The Millers in the same look. Completing her look with a black waisted belt, matching heels and gold-tone accessories, Mollie looked super-confident, smiling radiantly for the paps. Her signature, centre-parted blonde locks we’re hair ad ready, as always! So who are we betting on this week, you ask? We say Nicole takes this one by many a style mile! OK, so we may be a teeny bit biased, given Scherzy had us at hello when we previously raved about her look, but Mollie played it too safe with dark accessories. Nicole’s accessory-free colour pops are too good to dismiss. Agree with our fash-off verdict? Tell us your thoughts below! [Image]

The GQ Men of the Year Awards: the best dressed!

As we told you earlier, the annual GQ Men of the Year awards took place at London’s Royal Opera House  last night. And while the awards were very much about the men – apart from the Woman award which went to the lovely Emma Watson – our attention was on the ladies walking the arrivals red carpet instead. What can we say, we’re suckers high fashion on the red carpet! We were very impressed by the girls’ sartorial choices. We loved Emma Watson’s Balenciaga outfit, as she really played to the ‘men’ theme by opting to wear trousers as opposed to a dress. Rita Ora did wear a dress though – an Etro one at that – and looked rather jaw-dropping. Daisy Lowe turned up the sex factor in a very daring Saint Laurent number which will probably cause a bit of a stir, while Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Alexa Chung kept it short and sweet in their respective Versace and Carven numbers. Take a look at all eight of our best-dressed ladies and let us know who gets your vote! Beauty secrets the celebs swear by!

As much as the celebs and their team of stylists, hairdressers and make-up artists want you to believe it, they don’t actually get out of bed instantly looking red carpet ready. It actually takes a lot of hard work to look like a Hollywood A-lister; hard work, time, and more often than not, secret beauty regimes. Well, today we decided to spill some celeb beauty secrets that the stars of Tinsel Town swear by, so you too can have that wow-worthy beauty look. No personal stylist necessary… Teeth whitening There are several ways to go about this, some more cost-effective than others. You can do it yourself at home with the help of a Teeth Whitening kit and a retainer that you sleep in at night. Or you can follow in the footsteps of the X Factor contestants and get them bleached by a professional. No prizes for guessing which one will cost you more! Laser hair removal  Say goodbye to shaving rashes, messy wax strips and unsightly hair that takes up a lot of precious time to remove. Laser hair removal is what it’s all about these days; with just a few sessions of laser or IPL treatment, you can bid farewell to all unsightly hair for good! Definitely worth the time and money in the long run considering how much each salon trip costs. Botox No need to be afraid of the aging process with one of the most popular treatments in Hollywood right now. No need to go overboard though – a few injections in the important places will keep those wrinkles at bay and leave you looking more youthful for longer. Not everyone is left with an expressionless face after the treatment – just make sure you go for the subtle and natural option! Spray tan […]

Maggie Gyllenhaal vs. Demi Lovato…Who wore Isabel Marant better?

With everyone jetting off to sun-splashed vacation spots, and thanks to the partial heatwave we’ve become comfortably accustomed to, here in Blighty, it’s no surprise pretty summer dresses are on the up! And this week’s fash-off is no exception: Maggie Gyllenhaal and Demi Lovato grace our eyes in the gorgeous Isabel Marant ‘Samuel’ dress, reminding us just why we love boho-inspired summer style so much. Maggie was the first to step out in the ‘Samuel’ dress back in April, when she attended the Sundance Institute Theatre Program Benefit in New York. Pairing the balloon-sleeved, paisley-print dress – which is subtly nipped in at the waist with a tasselled leather belt – with a red lip and midi heels, Maggie is the vision of how we want to look, strolling lazily through sleepy holiday cities. Going up against Maggie in the style stakes is Demi Lovato, as she took to The X Factor LA auditions in the same dress. Attending the auditions with fellow judges Paulina Rubio and Kelly Rowland, Demi opted for a braided updo, ankle-strap Schutz pumps and a simple black leather belt to complete her look. A billowy summer dress can throw us when it comes to picking our favourite look, but this week’s fash-off winner by far is…Maggie Gyllenhaal! We love the summer-perfect vibe her look exudes, and that cropped haircut is deal sealer! Demi looks great, too, but the pushed-up belt and sharp pumps bring a harsh edge to what should be a softer look. Which look wins for you?

We love Tulisa’s peachy Jalouse look!

Former X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos may be in the press for all the wrong reasons at the moment, but she definitely did something right to warrant a place in our celeb style section this Monday afternoon. Tulisa looked peachy-perfect as she hit up Jalouse in Mayfair at the weekend, seemingly putting her troubles behind her and (literally) letting her hair down for the night. She donned a beautiful peach dress, (one of the colours of the season, if we may say!) and although it was in her usual figure-hugging style, it was pretty chic with its three-quarter sleeves and high neckline which is probably what earned her so many brownie style points. We love the bright pink lippie and understated clutch bag and heels she accessorised with too. We look forward to more elegant looks from the N Dubz star in the not-so-distant future!

Hailee’s look was tough, edgy and totally attention-grabbing – and you too can stand out for all the right reasons by snapping these items up fast: Eye print crepe dress, £474, Kenzo available at Lusiaviaroma Resillissima lace llusion booties, £896.59, Christian Louboutin available at Neiman Marcus Cactus green nail polish, £3.99, Max Factor available at Superdrug

Would you wear ‘mom’ jeans?

Feeling like painfully embarrassed teens, whose parents revelled in showing them up for want of being cool (but miserably failing), we relived our red-faced nightmares when we came across a pair of ‘mom’ jeans recently. Yes, you heard right. ‘Mom’ jeans; those jeans your mom wears. Or maybe Simon Cowell likes to wear during a particularly bad X Factor audition round. OK, so we’re pretty aware of the 90s comeback, but try to picture the expression on our faces when we spotted high street hot spot Topshop championing the style! Styled online with a white camisole, the vintage wash, high waisted ‘Mom’ jean features subtle tapering at the leg to give it that ‘nostalgic’ feel, but we’re not sure fashion’s venture into the past is so great. Since when did dressing like your 25-years-older-than-you mom become du jour? Often, the cool kids who frequent vintage stores are seen sporting similar bygone styles by Levi’s, but does attaching the ‘vintage’ label to ‘mom’ jeans take away the fact that they’re not as desirable as the current boyfriend jean, even tough it is trying to be? But wait for it. Moms aren’t the only ones bent on turning the way we dress! Enter the ‘dad’ jean; a high waisted, loosely fitted vintage wash, and reported by The New York Times as being favoured by the likes of Barack Obama and Kanye West, not before making waves on the street-style blog circuit. We’re all too aware of the cyclical nature of fashion, having pained over Hedi’s AW13 ode to outright punk. But for the love of fashion are you willing to play it ugly? Would you brave a pair of ‘mom’ jeans? But more importantly, will Kate Middleton tap the trend? Jeans featured above: MOTO vintage wash Mom jeans, £40, available at Topshop

Caroline Flack does British summer dressing right in Jaeger

Caroline Flack – she with the impeccable pins, and she who isn’t afraid to show them off – should be a poster girl for how to dress for the summer weather. We’ve all seen one too many unflattering short shorts, camel toes and lobster skins this weekend, so we encourage all British girls to look to Caroline for summer sartorial inspiration. We don’t see the sun very often so it can be difficult to get the flesh-to-clothes ratio right, but we think the Xtra Factor host nailed it in a thigh-skimming shiny Jaeger number. Sure she had her enviable golden pins on display, but she kept her chest firmly under wraps with her high-neck dress. Her ombre locks, lack of accessories and strappy heels contributed to her ultra-summer look, and we can’t wait to see more of her outfits during this year’s X Factor audition process! Remember girls, it’s boobs or legs but never both! Are you feeling Caroline’s summer red carpet look?

Cheryl Cole stuns in Dolce and Gabbana for InStyle UK’s July issue

Our Geordie pop princess Cheryl Cole is gracing InStyle UK’s July cover, looking fierce, sexy, cool and downright gorgeous all at the same time. We’ve always thought that Cheryl could get away with wearing pretty much anything (apart from those infamous purple trousers at the X Factor USA auditions, but shhh, that never happened, ok?!) and those thoughts are confirmed on both InStyle cover and editorial. With a bronzed hot bod to die for, Chez is rocking an intricate Dolce and Gabbana wicker bustier dress for the cover, and an instantly recognisable monochrome Louis Vuitton combo in one of the many editorial images. Cheryl is known for speaking her mind, and she certainly didn’t hold back in the accompanying interview; she opened up about the X Factor, Simon Cowell, and turning the big 3-0! “When I look at the 21 year old me, I do not want to be that person,” she told the mag. “I was young and naïve. I’m a hell of a lot wiser, a hell of a lot stronger, I’m just happier with me now. It’s weird but I’m not scared of it.” And why would you be scared? Cheryl you look gorgeous and are the envy of women everywhere, you have nothing to fear! InStyle’s July issue is out on Thursday. [InStyle]

Tulisa’s confusing helmet hair at Sony Radio Academy Awards…

Uh oh – if history has taught us anything, nothing good can ever come of an X Factor judge rocking a larger than life curly barnet. Tulisa Contostavlos attended the Sony Radio Academy Awards in London last night, and sported a rather questionable curly hairstyle on the red carpet. We love a good curl, don’t get us wrong, but we think the tight curls and bouffant on the top give her helmet hair. An oddly-shaped helmet, at that. What say you? On a more positive note though, we love the dress as it complements her svelte and sexy figure perfectly, and the make-up was absolutely spot on. We still heart Tulisa, and although we’re quite gutted that she’s not going to be on our X Factor screens this year (she’s being replaced by Sharon Osbourne!) we know she’ll come back with an exciting new project when she’s ready.

Katy Perry steals the show in figure-hugging Vera Wang

Katy Perry went back to her go-to blue colour at the Delete Blood Cancer Gala in New York, but made sure she left all signs of quirkiness at home for the occasion. Instead, KP upped the sex factor and stepped onto the red carpet in a wow-worthy, figure-hugging strapless floor-length Vera Wang spring/summer 2013 gown, inevitably turning heads and making everyone’s jaws drop as she floated past them. We think this is one of our favourite Katy Perry looks of the year, which says quite a lot as she has already had quite a few fashion hits these past five months – and last month in particular thanks to all those promotional The Smurfs 2 appearances. And we knew that the singer had quite an enviably svelte and toned body, but we didn’t think it was this perfect! Russell Brand, what were you thinking letting this one go? [Image]

The National Television Awards 2013: The best dressed!

The National Television Awards took place at London’s O2 Arena last night, and they did a good job of proving to the rest of the world that Britain does indeed have talent on the red carpet. Sure there were a few questionable looks too, but our Brit TV stars generally impressed us with their sartorial choices. We loved Tulisa’s take on the Carrie Bradshaw tutu dress last year, but she went in a total different direction this time round opting for a more demure and elegant floor length creation instead. Girls Aloud’s Kimberley Walsh gave us a unique look with a navy intricate Unrath Strano dress, while Eastenders soap stars Jacqueline Jossa and Shona McGarty made the most being out of Albert Square by donning glam gowns. Presenters Tess Daly and Christine Bleakley took on the red Golden Globes trend in their respective Issa and Philip Armstrong gowns. Holly Willoughby kept things chic in Roland Mouret, while Nicole Scherzinger went for the sex factor in a plunging vintage Ossie Clark dress. Nicole’s former Pussycat Dolls bandmate Ashley Roberts went for an effortlessly elegant white Rachel Gilbert dress, while Ashley’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here costar Helen Flanagan looked retro chic in a tight-fitting Dole and Gabbana dress – another one of our faves. Here are some of our stand-out looks: Ashley Roberts Helen Flanagan Nicole Scherzinger Holly Willoughby Christine Bleakley Tulisa Contostavlos Tess Daly Michelle Keegan Jacqueline Jossa Shona McGarty  Kimberley Walsh [poll id=”390″]

Khloe Kardashian vs. Noomi Rapace: Who wore Valentino better?

Valentino dresses are the stuff of dreams, and that’s why we get super-excited when doing a little celeb-spotting in said designer’s wares! The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star Noomi Rapace and Khloe Kardashian made an appearance in the same Valentino lace dress, albeit to two very different events. Noomi was the first to don the stunning emerald green dress with a cut-out back at the Venice Film Festival, back in September. Looking gorgeous on the red carpet, Noomi accessorised with black platform pumps, a geometric design clutch, small cocktail earrings and a strong red lip. One third of the Kardashian sister trio, Khloe opted for the same Valentino dress (one of her three outfits of the evening!) for the America X Factor season finale. Sporting a kick-ass tan, Khloe paired the dress with gold hardware, pointed ankle boots and added a leather and metal waisted belt to the mix. Opting for nude makeup and the biggest rock imaginable on her finger, Khloe wore her hair in an updo with wispy tendrils for a softer look So, to decide who wore Valentino best is a difficult task, as every creation to come out of the design house’s atelier leaves us in state of breathlessness! But there can only be one fash-off champion, and this week that accolade goes to…Khloe K! Valentino is renowned for mixing elegance with a healthy dose of sexy (one look at the luxe Rockstud collection and you’ll figure that mix out) and Khloe’s take on this pretty dress measures up to that fashion philosophy perfectly. Noomi, too, looks amazing, but a bit too red-carpet vanilla for our liking, unlike Khloe, who brought her own to the X Factor red carpet! Agree with our fash-off verdict? Whose look do you prefer?

Rihanna scoops Best Dressed of the Week in Alexander Wang SS’13

Wearing next season now, (natch), Rihanna’s whiteout performance on last Sunday’s X Factor final left us speechless. Heavenly vocals aside, our eyes were fixated on her Alexander Wang SS’13 runway-fresh look, which she pulled off with aplomb (no surprises there)! Slices of skin peeked through the clinical white, float-on-the-body dress, and those calf strap white heels have got us, well, head over heels in love with them! Sporting a fresh pixie cut and strong scarlet pout, Rihanna looked every inch the sartorially accomplished superstar that she is, as she performed Stay from her latest album, ‘Unapologetic’, alongside other major hits such as We Found Love. The demure white number is a drastic change from the risqué style Riri adopted for her X Factor performance two years ago, prompting several viewer complaints. But then again, when was the Bajan babe ever PC?! A brilliant, if not ironic way to finish the year; in a snowy white dress that teases us about how far off summer is!

Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried wow for Les Miserables New York premiere

Now that X Factor is over for another year, our style posts gushing about Nicole Scherzinger’s perfect wardrobe might not be as frequent as they have been over the past few months. Luckily, we have the Les Miserables premieres to tide us over! Last night the cast of Les Mis took to the Ziegfeld Theatre for the New York premiere of the film, with leading ladies Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried once again dazzling us with their sartorial choices – we expected nothing less! Anne wowed the crowd in a Tom Ford creation fresh from the spring/summer 2013 runway – and she even paired it with the bondage style thigh-high boots from the catwalk look too. Brave and bold – but we didn’t expect any less from Anne. After all – she famously chopped off her long, luscious locks for her role as Fantine, so bold and brave are definitely two words in her vocabulary. Amanda Seyfried also didn’t disappoint, as she rocked up in a gold and black Alexander Mcqueen dress. It had the perfect blend of edginess, femininity and of course, drama! The braid in her hair softened the look to play on the feminine elements, but it was juxtaposed beautifully with her darkly lined feline eyes. Perfect!

Very.co.uk presents UK’s first ever catwalk show on ice!

Last night we had the honour of heading down to the Tower of London’s ice rink to check out the UK’s first ever catwalk show on ice, presented by the lovely people at Very.co.uk. An abundance of gorgeous dresses and sparkly pieces made their way down the makeshift frozen catwalk, as the models (or should we say highly-trained professional skaters) glided beautifully around the ice showing off not only the wonderful pieces from Very’s new December collection, but also some great moves along the way. Props to all the skaters who dazzled us with their fine acrobatics – and for heading out into the freezing cold without anything to wrap up warm in! Even X Factor’s Ella Henderson got in on the skating action, as she popped along to have a go on the ice herself – propped up by not one, but two hunky male skaters. Not too shabby, Ella! Although we loved the show-stopping performances on the ice, we have to remember that the real point of the event was to see Very’s gorgeous Christmas collection, and that’s exactly what it was: gorgeous! The first and third dresses (above) in particular are remarkably stunning – definitely appropriate attire for all the Xmas parties, don’t you think? We thoroughly enjoyed being part of the UK’s first ever ice catwalk show, and have a feeling it won’t be the last, either!

Nicole Scherzinger’s timelessly elegant in Topshop

We love the X Factor style-off between female judges Nicole Scherzinger and Tulisa Contostavlos, and can rarely fault their (and their stylists’) sartorial decisions, but last night we were blown away by one judge in particular. Nicole made our jaws drop when she showed off the heavenly curves that she has so clearly been blessed with in a floor-length white fishtail gown. (This is what Nicole looks like in a long white dress, Lewis Hamilton, better make an honest woman out of her soon before someone else does…) The American judge gave us old Hollywood glamour by way of the vintage curls in her hair, she gave us sexiness thanks to the cut out detailing in the dress, she gave us boldness by wearing a very vivid shade of red lippie, and she gave us gorgeousness thanks to… well the whole look in general. She also gave us a huge shock when we learnt that her dress was by none other than high-street fave Topshop. Why haven’t we seen that on the rails, then? We doubt we’d look anywhere near as flawless as Nicole does, but it’s still nice  to try, right? Did you love Nicole’s dress as much as we did?

MTV EMAs 2012 – the best dressed!

It was an exciting Sunday night, yesterday. Not only did we have the X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing results to deal with (do you think the right people left, by the way?) we also had the MTV EMAS to watch! And we’re kind of glad, because things got a bit tense thanks to those results shows! We’ve been looking forward to these awards ever since we found out Heidi Klum would be hosting, and she didn’t let us or her country down! Although we loved all of her many outfit changes (there was a lot of Versace!) our favourite was definitely the blue Versace she sported on the arrivals red carpet. We know all the EMA hosts and hostesses enjoy an outfit change or ten while doing their presenting duties, but nothing beats having a word-class supermodel on the stage, right? Other ladies who impressed us sartorially included Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian, Gwen Stefani and Rita Ora, who really went for the wow factor in a stunning red Marchesa dress! Here’s a list of some of our favourite fashion hits from the evening. Who gets your vote?  Heidi Klum in Versace [image] Taylor Swift in J Mendel Rita Ora in Marchesa Kim Kardashian in Stephane Rolland Louise Roe Alicia Keys in Stella McCartney Lana Del Rey [poll id=”377″]

Nicole Scherzinger gets sexy in Gucci for Marie Claire UK December

Another stunning December cover to gaze at, this time courtesy of former Pussycat Doll, current X Factor judge and all-round sexpot Nicole Scherzinger. And it isn’t just the Marie Claire UK cover that Nicole is looking smoking’ on, as she poses seductively in a series of lust-worthy outfits from the likes of Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo and Dolce and Gabbana among others. Now it’s no secret that Nicole speaks her mind on the X Factor, so it shouldn’t surprise you to learn that she really opened up during the accompanying interview. She talked relationships, success, money and even babies… “I don’t want to have kids now,” she said. When I’m a mum, I’m not going to be one of those mums who has nannies. Actually, I might have nannies – never say never – but I’m not having someone else raise my kids. I think five years might be a good time to look at having children, but I think whenever it’s meant to happen is when it will happen. Right now, I’m focusing on my career. “I see lots of women having beautiful children later in life now. And, if not, just freeze your eggs!” We can’t wait for the world to be introduced to mini-Nicoles…  just imagine the talent?! You can read the rest of the interview and see more beautiful pictures in Marie Claire’s December issue, out tomorrow. [Images c/o Marie Claire/David Roemer]

Nicole Scherzinger steals the Pride of Britain show

It should come as no surprise to learn that the Pride of Britain Awards are all about celebrating all things British… the clue is in the name after all! However, it was the American Nicole Scherzinger who stole the sartorial show, as she floated along the red carpet in yet another stunning gown. It’s fine though, as we’ve more or less adopted Nicole as one of our own now that she’s a judge on the UK version the X Factor. We didn’t think anything was going to top the sexy Julien Macdonald catsuit that the honourary Brit donned for the Halloween special of the talent show at the weekend, but this dress is also a good contender for ‘best Nicole look of the month.’ The gorgeous gown was elegant with its floor-length nature, demure (no bras or nipples on show!) but still so very sexy with its ultra-high split and lace detailing. There’s a lot that British women can learn from Nicole, so take note ladies…

Are these the 8 Most Controversial Fashion Photographers of All Time?

The fashion industry is built on dreams; the internal desire to shine brighter than our counterparts, to have ‘the best’, and be considered ‘perfect’ in a world which increasingly demands such. The right stylist and photographer can set the mood for – and sell – such dreams with apparent ease. As the number of people entering creative industries such as photography increases, so does the need for such individuals to prove themselves as truly different and/or revolutionary. In regards to fashion photography, it is iconic, debate-stirring images which can quickly create household names of both the snapper and their subject. Here we look at some fashion editorial photographers who made a name for themselves via the art of controversy… The Most Controversial Fashion Photographers of All Time Sharif Hamza Image credit: trendland.com 2010’s year-closing edition of French Vogue featured a shoot by NYC-based snapper Sharif Hamza entitled ‘Cadeaux’. The shoot probably wouldn’t have raised any eyebrows if it were not for the fact that the model within – Thylane Lena Rose Blondeau – was just 10 years of age. Many Vogue readers, industry types, and news journalists considered the images too sexualised. The model’s mother – fashion designer Veronika Blondeau – defended the images, contending the only thing shocking about them “is the necklace that [Thylane’s] wearing, which is worth three million Euros.” While Hamza is prevalent in the realm of fashion photography, this is more for his iconic imagery than purposely divisive content. Steven Klein Image credit: graziadaily.co.uk Steven Klein reached a whole new level of notoriety in June this year, when his series of photographs of ‘violently attacked’ women appeared in Bulgarian fashion magazine 12. One model appeared to have her throat slashed, while another had a black eye. 12 had to quickly defend themselves for printing the […]

6 celebrity style icons worthy of their own clothing label

There is a long list of contemporary stylish ladies who are equally as eye catching as the Hepburn’s, Kelly’s and Monroe’s of yesteryear. These ladies have an ‘until death do us part’ kinda relationship with fashion, and their extensive wardrobes, impeccable taste and dedication to looking stylish knows no bounds. So to celebrate the women at the fore of fashionable happenings and their enviable sense of style, we’ve decided to chart our top 6 style icons… Rihanna We think RiRi’s sartorial reputation precedes her. Yes, she has a penchant for expletive-laden footwear (cue: X Factor performance in those trainers), wearing clothes emblazoned with illegal substances and often pushes the limits of fashion to an unimaginable edge, but she never fails to carry off her eccentric wardrobe. High Street, high fashion our outrageously high heels worn with leather shorts; she really is the only girl in the world who can execute it with perfection! Fave 2012 fashion moment: In Givenchy Haute Couture at the 2012 BRIT Awards, Olivia Palermo Gracing front row at headline-hitting fashion shows; girlfriend to a HOT model and the owner of a wardrobe over spilling with sartorial perfection, Olivia Palermo is a no-brainer on our Style Icons list! The flawless beauty, who fronts the cover of the Instyle UK October issue, revealed she likes ‘walking out of the house feeling fully pulled together.’ Something she sure has down to a t! The queen of nonchalant off-duty dressing (she even makes dog walking look stylish!), Olivia is often spotted in impeccable style staples, including a well cut jacket, a statement (not ‘It’) bag and wow-inducing heels. Olivia’s timeless style is easy to translate, and appeals to a wider population – a large chunk of which definitely likes to look fashionably ‘pulled together’. Love or Hate: Britney Spears in Stella McCartney

For the season premiere of X Factor USA, Britney Spears stepped out in a vivid blue, printed Herve Leger Stella McCartney dress from the British designer’s pre-fall 2012 collection. On paper, Britney in Stella – in fact, Britters in anything that isn’t a bandage dress – is a breath of fresh air. The actual results however, are a little bit disappointing and we are angry with ourselves for thinking it. We want her to be America’s sweetheart circa 1999 all over again! So here are our problems with the look: the dress sits at that awkward literal knee length, and between that, the high neckline and the fact that we think she could have done with a bigger size, we don’t think it’s the most flattering of outfits for Britney’s figure. We heart the fact that Brit is taking some sartorial risks though, and we don’t want her to be discouraged from branching out in the future. Because we love Britney and want to see her in a positive light, we’re going to look at her Elle US cover and editorial images again! [poll id=”367″]

Britney Spears fronts Elle US October, tells us why she could never “be like Kim Kardashian”

Just in case it wasn’t already obvious from her recent public appearances, Britney Spears is back baby! The X Factor USA judge is striking a fierce pose for the October issue of Elle US, while showing off her slim and toned figure in a sexy studded Versace dress. Britney is a bit awkward in front of the camera these days, but that definitely didn’t come across in the cover shoot. Readers are going to be in for a treat this month, as Brit Brit dishes the dirt on her relationship with Jason Trawick, and also tells us that she really is OK with being snapped out in her tracksuit bottoms. “I love my jeans and my sweats-I’m really just a tomboy at heart,” she said. “So it’s really hard for me to be like Kim Kardashian and be makeup-and hair-ready every time I go out of my house. I’m not a believer in that, you know? “On the other hand, when you do wear those sweats, you’re like, Oh God, I should step it up a notch.” Aw, Britney. Sweats or no sweats (hell, even hair or no hair if we’re casting our minds back to the dark years) we love you! We predict this issue is going to fly off the shelves!

Demi Lovato rocks two looks for the price of one at the Fanta Irresistible Awards

We don’t think Demi Lovato could make up her mind when it came to choosing an outfit for the Fanta Irresistible Awards in Mexico City earlier this week. How else would you explain her biker/rock chick top half teamed with a long, flowing elegant bottom half, hm? Even though the look is a bit all over the place, we actually quite like the former Disney star’s gown by Mason. We always harp on about celebs sometimes losing their identity on the red carpet when they give their stylists total control, but we think this dress really does capture Demi’s personality rather well. We only have to look at her X Factor wardrobe to know that she’s fond of the leather and general biker chick look, but we know that she’s partial to glamming up and looking like a princess too. We don’t think this outfit will go down well with everyone, but the more we look at it, the more we like it. We would have taken the necklace away and maybe added some arm bling instead though. What say you? [poll od=”362″] [Image]

The Teen Choice Awards 2012 – the best dressed!

We’ve been having serious award ceremony withdrawal symptoms, so we are really grateful to the Teen Choice Awards for popping up during an awards ceremony drought. We waited with baited breath for some of our fave Teen Choice starlets to arrive – the likes of which included X Factor judge Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Lea Michele and Zooey Deschanel – and as predicted, we weren’t disappointed. As you can imagine, the girls made the most of the theme of the occasion (and the fab weather) and dared to bare, with the majority of them flashing their bronzed and enviable pins in fun, flirty and fashion-forward dresses. Kristen Stewart was one of the only ladies who kept her legs under wraps (for a change!), opting to wear leather trousers and a chic printed Roberto Cavalli jacket instead. Here are our top ten best dressed from the event… and don’t forget to vote for your favourite below!
