 Jenny Packham’s show was, as always, quite exquisite, with the designer saying her muse for the new collection was “blatantly Marilyn Monroe”. “She’s been there all my life, but I’ve rediscovered her again,” Jenny Packham said. “She’s still so relevant. What she wore doesn’t date.” We couldn’t agree more, and we absolutely love Jenny Packham’s Marilyn inspired vision. We predict Michelle Williams will be one of the first ladies to step out in one of these pieces; what say you? We definitely feel the Marc by Marc Jacobs girl has a little bit of Miley Cyrus to her – and not just due to the short, twisted top-knot hairstyles found on the runway models. We saw an abundance of polka dots and cute cropped tops – both of which we could easily associate with the controversial singing superstar. Nude is back, people! Ok it never really went away to begin with, but we’d like to confirm that it’s bigger and better than ever before! And before readers of a prudish disposition stop in their tracks and recoil in horror, we’d like to point out that we are in fact talking about the colour – or lack thereof – as opposed to the state of undress. Reading resumes here… We don’t just have Kate Middleton and her love of a nude pump to thank for the emerging neutral trend – although she has played quite a substantial part in bringing it back on people’s radars. Ralph Lauren is just one of many designers who is bringing natural shades back on our style agenda; and this time he’s making sure that everyone’s paying attention. We told you last month that Cara Delevingne had solely been chosen to model Topshop’s new season pieces for the autumn/winter 2014 ad campaigns… and now it’s finally time to take a look at the very first image from the campaign. So what do you think? Cara was shot by Alasdair McLellan, and we reckon she looks as effortlessly cool as always, looking really comfortable an at ease with some casual skinny jeans and a blazer to sharpen things up. It’s the nameless, label-less, anti-trend sweeping the fashion world, and its popularity, surprisingly, shows no sign of waning. Normcore, or dressing like your dad, is a dress code some too-hip-for-street-style individuals have adopted, in order to remove themselves from the overstretched fashion clichés that bloggers and street style stars have made popular. More relevant examples of normcore advocates include the Olsen Twins (well, sometimes), 90s star Jerry Seinfeld and, well, everything American Apparel, really. No longer does a uniform of skinny jeans, luxe boots and oversized coat suffice; nor does the ‘all black errythangg’ (cheers, Kanye), Emmanuelle Alt-esque aesthetic win you any brownie points. A few weeks back, we posted a story of fashion resurrection, detailing how Clarks had gone from dowdy to desired thanks to one key style. It got the brain cogs turning, what next? Can another fashion brand repeat such success or are Clarks a one-off? Considering it’s winter, flip flops are hardly going to be the choice du jour when predicting a trend resurgence. Women’s boots are the obvious choice and a lot of styles usually thought to be worn by the less fashion-conscious are actually creating some good lines. This might be a controversial choice but considering the trend of chunky, clumpy boots from the likes of Vagabond and Shelly’s of London, and the dominating 90’s urban styling sported by Hipsters up and down the country, Fly boots have got some pretty fashionable styles out. A stand out pair are the Yoss boot. Thick wedge heal? Yep. On-trend ankle height? Yep. Look good with cute dolly or patterned socks? Yep! Teen Vogue can’t seem to get enough of Emma Watson, as her August 2013 cover is the fourth time she has posed for the magazine. We think we see the appeal! Emma was shot by Boo George, and is looking fresh faced and fabulous on the cover and throughout the editorial. The 23-year-old Bling Ring actress (and former Harry Potter actress, but that goes without saying, right?) is wearing an enviable selection of clothes in her shoot, including Isabel Marant houndstooth skinny jeans, a Saint Laurent coat, and a bold 3.1 Phillip Lim top. Well that’s the wardrobe that was selected for her, but what about her personal style choices? Where does she like to shop herself? “I shop at Aritzia and Topshop, and I also love A.P.C. and 3.1 Phillip Lim,” she told the mag. “Chanel is amazing, and I wore a really beautiful black Dior dress recently that I thought was really cool.
