Britney Spears extends her Las Vegas residency!

Amazing news for Britney Spears fans, as it’s just been announced that she has extended her Piece of Me Las Vegas residency by another two years. That means that Britney will be at work (b*tch) in LV’s Planet Hollywood until 2017. Exciting times! “The way I used to travel all around the world and do a different show every night, I’m like, ‘How did I do it?!’,” she said. “Promotion is a different story, and going to a different city every day, it’s really hard. But being based in Vegas and having one show that you just keep going back to, the consistency of that is really grounding and really cool.” We couldn’t agree more! Milestone birthdays, hen nights, stag dos and general holidays will all be made better with a trip to Planet Hollywood to see Britters on stage, don’t you think? [Glamour]

Amanda Seyfried keeps it simple for Lovelace Las Vegas premiere

Amanda Seyfried is on the promotional trail for her new movie Lovelace, and she’s already presented us with a host of gorgeous red carpet outfits while doing so. None more stunning than the one she chose for the Las Vegas premiere… Amanda headed to the Las Vegas Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino to promote her latest film, and chose a sleek, clean and undisputedly chic white top and shorts combo from the Stella McCartney Resort 2014 collection for the occasion. Vegas is all about the glitz and glamour, and we love how Amanda went against the grain and kept things nice and simple instead. She defied the sartorial conventions associated with Sin City, but still stood out for all the right reasons. Natural make-up (save for a dramatic shade of deep red lipstick), effortlessly styled hair draped on her shoulders and contrasting pumps completed her minimalist look.

Fergie shines in Vegas wearing Nicolas Jebran

New Year’s Eve is probably the one day of the year when you can wear as much glitter, glitz and sparkle as your heart desires. And yes you can wear that mega-watt sequinned dress you have been sheepishly hiding at the back of your wardrobe for months. On seeing Fergie in this ultra-glam gold tiled Nicolas Jebran dress, we let out a collective “Go girlfriend”. True it may be totally over the top, but that is kinda why we love it. Furthering her case to wear this showstopper was the fact she was partying in Vegas for New Year- anything less than full length sparkle would have been under-dressed anyhow. Fergie paired it with a gorgeous pair of silver Gio Diev heels and a sleek metallic gold clutch bag. Any other time of year this might have been gold overkill, but if a girl can’t dress like a giant glitter ball for NYE, when the heck can she?

Kourtney Kardashian’s peacock pretty in Vegas

We’ve been focusing on her younger sister Kim these past few months (mainly because we are monitoring her maternity style with hawk-eyes) but were mixing things up this Tuesday afternoon by giving some overdue attention to the gorgeous Kourtney Kardashian! Ever the style maven, Kourtney displayed a variety of trendy looks all in one go as she attended boyfriend Scott’s 30th birthday bash in Las Vegas. She embraced the lace trend with a long-sleeved lace blue top, which she tucked into a very daring ruffled peacock skirt. She completed her look by working her sleek brunette locks into an effortless top knot (another popular hairstyle among the fashion folk), a generous layer of blusher on her cheeks, and black pointy pumps. Lace detailing, peacock feathers, top knots… they’re all great on their own, but do they work when they’re combined? On paper we’d say no, but we think Kourtney just about manages to pull it off on this occasion. A petite frame, great pins and Kardashian genes all worked in her favour!

The Men of Glastonbury 2009

Since Kate Moss donned her little hot-pants outfit to the UK’s favourite music event – Glastonbury – a few years ago, festival goers have treated the occasion like a bizarre, mud-filled catwalk – parading their finest (and often loudest) wardrobes to the masses. The best (or maybe worst) thing about this? There are no rules. But let’s not limit this to the girls. And having said that, to the festival crowd themselves. Performers after all, are under the scrutiny of the fields of fashionistas, fans and cameras, and the men are no exception. Here’s a few that we’ve picked out: Pete Doherty – Dressed in his faithful trilby hat, Pete chose a military/old band style top in a black and gold jersey material for his performance on The Other Stage. Thumbs up to Pete for the casual take on this formal theme. Although we’re not so sure about the navy blue polo shirt underneath, luckily Pete can pull off just about anything without it looking out of the ordinary.

1990’s Fashion: Sports and Heroin Chic

Heroin chic is a trend in fashion that is based on sickness, dark circles under the eyes, exhaustion, and other signs of drug use. It originated in the early ‘90s and mainly in the United States, when heroin use became popular in wide circles, due to the decline in its market value. At the same time, most people did not know how to get into rehab without insurance (https://addictionresource.com/drug-rehab/no-insurance/ would have definitely helped them), that is why the rates of deaths from drugs were pretty high. In the ’90s, it wasn’t about body awareness and healthy habits — half of all Americans smoked on a regular basis, the opioid epidemic was at its peak, nobody would go get treatment at rehab by choice.  At this time, a huge number of films on this topic appeared. You definitely watched or heard of such movies as Trainspotting, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Basketball Diaries, and Pulp Fiction, which have become iconic.  So, let’s figure out why after the ‘80s, when Princess Diana and Brooke Shields were style icons, everything changed dramatically and the trend was a slender physique and unkempt. How heroin chic appeared It all started with British photographer Corinne Day, or rather with her photo shooting with Kate Moss called The 3rd Summer of Love. It is important to understand that these photographs glorified the future photo model, giving a powerful impetus to the development of her career.  At that time, Kate was only 15 years old, but that did not stop Day from filming her half-naked with a cigarette in her hands. These photos instantly spread throughout the fashion community, appearing on the covers of many glossy magazines, including The Face. At this time, for the first time, the term Heroin Chic began to be used, which […]

Can marriage make you happier?

The institution of marriage is alive and well for good reason. According to psychologists, being married can make you happier than having money, kids, or sex. It’s no wonder that couples in love are sending out so many wedding invitations every year. In the United States alone, 2.4 million couples say “I do” annually. A whopping $72 billion is spent on weddings and receptions, although the average cost per couple is $28,385. If you want to save money on your nuptials, you might want to hold your big day in Utah, which is the least expensive state to do so. The most expensive state to tie the knot is New York. If you want to follow the crowd, glitzy Las Vegas tops the list as the most popular wedding location, followed by Hawaii. Parents of brides still pay the majority of wedding costs, although brides and grooms themselves pick up 40% of expenses. The most sought-after season to unite in holy matrimony is summer, especially June, but couples opt for every season of the year. Although winter is the least popular season, couples that do opt for the frigid months often select Christmas as their date. Where did all these couples meet? In the age of Internet access to just about everything, the same holds true for love, as one in six engaged individuals meet online. For more information, check out this interesting infographic that sums up everything.

Freida Pinto stuns in Oscar de la Renta on Cannes Film Festival red carpet

Red carpets were being rolled out left, right and centre over the weekend. From the Cannes Film Festival in, well, Cannes, to the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas to the BAFTA TV Awards right here in London, celebs from all over the world were getting glammed up, ready for their close-up. Despite all the different occasions happening over the weekend, we were once again enamoured by an A-lister’s look at the Cannes Film Festival… and that A-lister is none other than Freida Pinto. Freida Pinto really does take the “go big or go home” dress code of Cannes very seriously, as we always find ourselves in awe of her red carpet looks year after year. And we think her appearance on The Homesman premiere red carpet just might be one of her greatest looks yet. The actress wore a full-length strapless gown from the Oscar de la Renta autumn/winter 2014 collection, with the gorgeous coral colour complementing her hair and skin-tone wonderfully. Simple gold jewellery and a sleek up-do provided the flawless finishing touches.

Planning your wedding? What does the Groom actually care about?

Are you currently planning the most magical day of your life? We know what matters to the bride the most: finding the perfect dress, making sure the bridesmaids dresses match and complement but don’t upstage her dress, and ensuring  the wedding cake and flower arrangements are as dream-like as ever… but what does the groom actually care about? The groom can often be forgotten about when it comes to weddings, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have cares and worries of their own prior to the big day. Here are the top 5 things occupying the groom’s mind before he says “I do”: 1. Suits. Ok, so the groom might not have been dreaming about his wedding suit since he was a little boy, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to look good for his bride and the rest of the wedding party. Grooms actually spend a lot of time, effort and money making sure they are suitably dressed for their big day, as well as all of their groomsmen. The key to the perfect suit is all about the tailoring, so make sure that you allow plenty of time for fittings and alterations. There’s nothing worse than groomsmen tripping over trousers that are too long, or being able to see those football socks because the trousers are far too short. 2. The honeymoon. Probably one of the best holidays a couple will take, so it’s got to be done right. The groom is often left with the task of organising the honeymoon, so he’s under a lot of pressure to get it right. The hotel, the transport, the activities – there’s a lot to do and a lot to think about! 3. The stag do. Strippers or no strippers? A relatively quiet night in town with the besties […]

Katie Eary for River Island launching next year

There’s been a bit of a Rihanna-shaped hole in our hearts ever since the Bajan songstress unveiled her last collection for River Island, but now the high street store is doing its bit to make sure we are sartorially satisfied by introducing a new collaboration. Ladies and gents, we give you the Katie Eary for River Island collection – and it’s heading to stores a lot sooner than you might expect. The Royal College of Art graduate has previously worked with Kanye West (and made it out alive!) and also runs her own eponymous label. “River Island connects to the cool type of women which suits my project; all those independent, sexy, powerful women who frequent River Island,” the designer said. “Naturally, I thought that we were a perfect match.” So what was she inspired by for her debut collection with River Island? Hunter S Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas apparently, which explains the vibrant colours and patterns. “My starting point was Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Except in my story it wasn’t Johnny Depp, it was my muse (the strong woman) on a crazy hallucinatory journey through the desert.  I then went on to design looks for her while she was on this journey. It all became very Tribal Dipped in Gold.” Sounds exciting! The 18-piece collection – which includes everything from t-shirts, shorts, maxi dresses, swimwear, fringed bags and more – will land in stores on February 17th, with prices ranging from £15 to £120. Dame Helen Mirren vs. Rita Ora…Who wore Dolce & Gabbana better?

Another week, another frock-off worth dissecting! This week, two ladies at opposite ends of the style spectrum pulled of the same Dolce & Gabbana gown with such aplomb, our jaws dropped below our knees in awe. Dame Helen Mirren and Rita Ora stepped out, at different events, of course, in a red lace Dolce & Gabbana dress, otherwise known as a sure-fire sartorial hit. Rita got first dibs on the dress, as she wore it to perform in Las Vegas last month, whilst Dame Helen opted to wear it last week, at the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong’s 50th Anniversary Gala. Stylistically, both Rita and Dame Helen are pole opposites – although both do love to dabble in fun fashion every so often – and this showed in their individual looks. Whilst Dame Helen opted to wear the red lace number atop a full-length white silk slip, Rita went for a slightly more risqué look, covering up underneath with a black bodysuit. Dame Helen’s soft long crop looked elegant against the striking gown, and, although we think it wasn’t really necessary, wearing the crucifix necklace as a cummerbund is pure jewellery genius! Completing the look were matching crucifix earrings. Rita’s not one to shy away from experimenting with her wardrobe, and vamping up otherwise traditional red carpet looks is what she does best. In her element with this look, she opted for sleek, side-parted hair; crucifix earrings and matching necklace, and her signature crimson pout. Although we think both Rita and Dame Helen nailed Lady In Red style, Dame Helen takes the prize for this one. She looks poised, yet she’s unafraid to break free from the stereotypical style rut often associated with senior figures in Hollywood: the perfect balance between demure and daring. We love it! Whose look wins for […]

Billboard Music Awards 2013: The best dressed!

You didn’t think Cannes was the only place the well-dressed celebs flocked to over the weekend, did you? The red carpet (well, technically blue) was rolled out for the 2013 Billboard Music Awards which took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and the famous attendees certainly showcased their style credentials as they arrived in their finery for the event. Jennifer Lopez scoops Best Dressed of the Week in Kaufmanfranco

Ah, a vision in white is exactly what Jennifer Lopez was, as she took to the red carpet for the Las Vegas premiere of her latest movie, ‘Parker’. Famed for her desirably voluptuous figure, Jenny from The Block opted for a super-glamorous white-out in a spring 2013 Kaufmanfranco gown. But don’t be fooled by the frock (geddit?), for this is no simple white gown. No. The stunning Kaufmanfranco number features sheer illusion-creating panels running down the back of the gown, giving that magically-held-together look that was so hot on the spring/summer 2013 runways. Accessorising Jen’s outstanding look was a nude makeup palette, beautifully complemented by strong eyes, a wispy up do and a gorgeous Ferragamo box clutch. Safe to say, we’re in love, and can’t wait to rock an off-red carpet white ensemble come summer! [Image]

How to Be Colour Confident on Holiday and in Life!

[noskim] It is the night before your holiday and your bedroom looks like a tornado ran through it with dresses, tops and shoes scattered on the floor, bed and wardrobe. You have so many choices and no matter how many times you rule that little black dress out, somehow you always end up going back to it because it is classic and makes you look slim. Is it the best option for your holiday in Venice though? Surely a dress with a bit of colour is better? Fashion stylist Amanda Bernstein said while most women might know what colours work for them at home they often get it wrong for a holiday. “The main problem is women assume that if they do not look good in green, that all greens are off limits. However, there are different levels of intensity. There is big difference between dark green and light green.” Here are some tips on how to flaunt your colourful side while on holiday. Tip # 1: Learn the colour wheel – emerald green is not the same as lime green. Green is a tricky colour and therefore is often overlooked. It is also dependent on your skin and hair colour – redheads and women with lighter skin should stick with bright green while emerald green will work a treat on olive-skinned beauties. Be sure to keep an open mind because there is a whole rainbow of shades to choose from. Laura Anderson, online merchandiser for La Redoute said “Pastel shades are a perfect way to experiment with colour and are a safe option for those afraid of wearing anything bright or bold. Mint green is a good colour for summer.” Tip # 2: Keep it personal – don’t draw attention for the wrong reasons “Some women try to alter […]

The Fash-off! Jennifer Lopez vs. Kelly Brook

Jennifer Lopez and Kelly Brook; two ladies from opposite sides of the pond, but both famed for making heads turn with displays of their, erm, generous derrieres and a penchant for dare-me-to-split dresses that perfectly showcase their enviable curves.  Welcome to this week’s frock-off between J-Lo in an Edition by Georges Chakra, SS’12 number at her World Tour post party in Las Vegas, and Kelly in a bum-flashing (ahem), form-fitting, embellished mesh floor-length gown at the Keith Lemon: The Film premiere in London. Here’s what we thought… Fashion News Ed, Maria says: ‘Jen showed off her amazingly enviable body in that dress – how is it possible to have a bod like that after giving birth to twins? I loved her accessorising too, but I think she played it a bit safe by trying to be very matchy matchy. She could have gone for some bright pumps (maybe pink or yellow?) which would have worked just as well but in all honesty no one is really complaining about J-Lo here. Least of all me! The hair gives the look a bit of a personal twist as I know Jen likes her experimental hairstyles. Who can forget those iconic braids…’ ‘Kelly wins this one for me just because she can do no wrong when she does that 1950’s vintage pin-up girl thing with her hair. Kel proves that you don’t need to flash the flesh to show the world the wonderful curves God blessed you with… and judging by the smile on her face I think she knows that. Flawless!’ Amy @wolfwhistle says: ‘I love a bad pun so I can’t resist saying that this is nautical but nice on J-Lo – badda boom! But it’s not great: there’s a bit of a style clash between the dress and the accessories. She is […]

Blake Lively’s alright in white

With a perfect figure, luscious long locks and access to one of the greatest on-set wardrobes ever, Blake Lively is easily one of the most envied women on the plane. And yesterday she gave us another reason to wish we could trade places with her. She was spotted yesterday at CinemaCon – a film convention in Las Vegas – promoting her new film The Green Lantern, which means this stunning spring Dolce & Gabbana outfit was essentially just her workwear. We adore her look – the crisp silk lace dress screams sleek, sophisticated and sexy, whilst the sharp white blazer and grey suede shoe boots completed the ensemble and cleverly complemented her Californian tan. And her accessorising was limited to spring’s hottest jewellery choice – a knuckle-duster ring – and her trademark tousled hair. If that outfit isn’t enough to make you green with envy then the fact that she stars opposite uber hunk Ryan Reynolds in her new film might just do it. Jealous? Us? What do you think of Blake Lively’s all-white look? [poll id=”71″]

Kirsten Dunst in Miu Miu

After slating Kirsten Dunst’s sartorial choices not once, but twice, in our round up of last year’s worst dressed celebs, we decided to put our style differences aside and give the girl a second chance – after all, it is the new year. Whilst attending the star-studded bash that was the Cosmopolitan Hotel New Year’s Eve Party in Las Vegas on Friday, the All Good Things actress made a clean, crisp statement in a white Miu Miu frock and black patent pumps – and although we love a good statement party dress, this little number was certainly on par with spring’s minimalistic trend. Other media-savvy critics have branded Kirsten’s look too ‘1960’s nurse’ – though, granted, the sharp high-necked collar does look a little med-school – but we have to say we disagree: the girl rocks this chic puff-sleeved A-line shift. Congrats Kirsten, you’ve proved that less can be more at a party – just keep up the good work.

Whitney Port in Monique Lhuillier

Someone who certainly didn’t gain a few extra pounds over the festive period was reality TV star and now-designer Whitney Port – but whilst attending The Cosmopolitan Hotel New Year’s Eve party in Las Vegas on Friday the usually-stylish city girl seemed to have fallen from her sartorial grace in this less than eye-pleasing Monique Lhuillier teal dress. The abundance of ruffles and oversized 80s-inspired shoulder pads gave this frock a frighteningly unfashionable start to the new year – not even her bronze statement necklace could save this frame-swamping choice. Teaming her look with a grey envelope purse and white strappy sandals, the mismatch of accessories didn’t go far to rescue her dress disaster, either. Sorry Whitney – at least we didn’t mention how you over done it in the bronzer department… oops!

It’s no men at Christopher Kane

Christopher Kane won’t let men in his studio. The Scottish designer, who runs his label with sister Tammy, prefers working with women as he thinks they have more creative energy. He explained: “I’m just a girl’s boy – I think they have so much more to say and so much to give. My whole studio is full of girls, I don’t really like boys in there – they just mess up the dynamic and want to be the boss.”

Lindsay Lohan’s tanning scandal

Lindsay Lohan is reportedly being sued over her fake tan brand. The ‘Mean Girls’ actress is accused of stealing the formula for Sevin Nyne – which she launched earlier this year – from a chemist called Jennifer Sunday. When the spray was launched, Lindsay claimed she had created it with the help of Las Vegas businesswoman Lorit Simon, who works with celebrities. However, Jennifer claims Lorit signed a confidentiality agreement with her firm in January, because the pair had been in negotiations about the mist.

Style surprise of the week goes to Beyonce and her scary metal glove

Critics seem to be split on the new material from Beyonce. But then the concept album ‘I am … Sasha Fierce’, is a pretty bold move. Creating and naming a stage alter-ego and then dressing the part too is akin to proclaiming your super star status by saying, ‘it worked for the greats such as David Bowie and Prince, it can work for me too’. Or is it just a form of artistic expression that should be applauded?

Joe Prince

Love Vintage? Then you’ll want to know about Joe Prince, a vintage fashion boutique dedicated to the rare, retro and more individual pieces in fashion…. What makes Joe Prince unique? There are a number of sites out there selling vintage and retro fashion but we’re trying to do things a little differently. We have a huge passion for fashion…new and old. Current designers are constantly taking inspiration from what has gone before and translating it into a modern interpretation of the latest look. At Joe Prince we have our eye on the runway and source items from the past which you will see in the stores next season. Most vintage sellers just buy up anything vintage! We purchase items from all over the world to ensure that we have an eclectic mix of products on our website and we want the vintage pieces we select to work within a modern wardrobe. We want our customers to find something at Joe Prince which they will treasure forever but wear to death! What do you think is so appealing about Vintage clothing? Vintage is perfect for the girl (or guy!) who has nightmares about walking into a bar and seeing someone else in exactly the same outfit! Vintage pieces, by their very nature, are unique and individual, so this appeals to the fashion trend-setters. I also think the stories behind the vintage clothes are appealing. For example, I recently bought some dresses from a lady’s estate in Texas. Apparently she was ‘lady of the manor’ and used to host cocktail evenings and balls at her home in the 1920’s. I bought some of her cocktail dresses and I can just imagine her gliding down her marble staircase ready to greet her guests!

Getting Married? Here Are the Must-Have Dresses for Every Event

Are you getting married? The gleeful anticipation of your upcoming nuptials is celebrated in many ways. From engagement parties and bridal showers to the big day, every bride needs to look her best in every moment. While the gown gets a lot of attention, it’s far from the only piece of bridal fashion you’ll be shopping for. Here are some tips for finding the perfect dresses for every bridal event. The Engagement Party Your first foray into wedding celebrations will begin the moment he pops the question. Traditionally, weddings are planned over many months or even a couple of years. An engagement party allows the couple to celebrate their big news now and officially kick off the wedding planning phase of the event. These parties also serve as an ice breaker to introduce the two families. Waiting until the wedding day to make important introductions can cause some ruffled feathers and undue stress on the newlywed couple. It’s best to start these introductions early so that everyone can come together and celebrate happily on the big day. The engagement party is typically a cocktail party, giving the bride-to-be full permission to wear a fun and flirty dress with an above-the-knee cut. We recommend avoiding anything overtly sexy, seductive, or revealing. You want to make a great first impression on extended family members that you’ll be meeting for the first time. And you want to send a clear message that you are committed to your soon-to-be husband.  For the perfect engagement party dress, stick with something semi-formal that shows off your personality. And then, dress it up with a little fun by choosing a fun color or a little sparkle. An A-line cocktail dress that has a little twirl in the skirt can be the perfect balance of modesty and fun. […]

First look at the Katie Grand for Hogan collaboration!

Saying that we love a good collaboration is a bit of an understatement, so we don’t even need to tell you how thrilled we were when we heard that Love magazine’s editor-in-chief Katie Grand would be teaming up with Hogan for a special capsule collection. Katie’s debut collection is entitled ‘Gang by Hogan’, and features some bright, vivid and very colourful accessories, including high-top trainers with a subtle wedge in them, slippers, sunglasses, bags and more. Remember that time Cheryl Cole wore some wedge trainers and we all went a bit wild for them? Well we reckon the colourful Katie Grand for Hogan ones are the cutest ones we have seen to date, and you can bet your bottom Dollar that we’ll be snapping them up when they go on sale next year. Katie Grand has enlisted the help of 14 top models, including the likes of Cara Delevingne, Alessandra Ambrosio, Edie Campbell, Dree Hemingway and Linda Evangelista to model the pieces, so keep your eyes peeled for their pics in a special one-off publication dedicated to the collection. The Gang collection hits Hogan stores in January 2013… which pieces are you lusting after?

Best Dressed of the Week: Charlize Theron in Dion Lee at the Cinecon 2012 Awards Ceremony

We’re taking a break from grand red carpet style gestures and going back to basics, this week, with a classic LBD. But not any bland, yawn-inducing LBD, in fact we’re digging a rather directional, head-turner version. The stunning Charlize Theron wowed in a Dion Lee Fall 2012 dress at the 2012 Cinecon Awards held in LasVegas this week. Looking gorgeous, Charlize picked up the Distinguished Decade of Achievement in Film award at the event.  The dress showcased the illusion trend – a really hot-right-now statement many celebs are making in Stella McCartney dresses – although, so lean and model-like, Charlize definitely doesn’t need to trick a silhouette! Completing her look with strappy black Giuseppe Zanotti sandals, subtly smoky eyes and hair casually down, Charlize reminded us just how powerful the humble little black dress can be amongst other glitzy event heavyweight looks.

Cheryl Cole in Anya Hindmarch at Cannes

As if we needed another reason to envy Cheryl Cole. The gorgeous X Factor judge stepped out in Cannes yesterday with a pale gold Anya Hindmarch Marano clutch, before going on to perform at a film festival after-party. Looking summery and sophisticated in the French Riviera, the Girls Aloud member teamed her luxurious, suede-lined clutch with Victoria Beckham-esque sunglasses, pretty pastels and – one of our favourite items for spring – a white blazer. The evening box clutch from Anya Hindmarch is a classic in the making, adding instant glam to the simplest of ensembles. It might not be the most spacious of evening bags but really, when you’re tanning it up in France and performing for the A-listers, what more could you possibly need except a bit of lippy? Take a tip from Cheryl and get your very own Anya Hindmarch Marano clutch in mirrored leather: £240 from Anya Hindmarch. Click here to buy now! [Image]

NY Fashion Week SS10: Day 1 Recap

The Spring/Summer New York Fashion Week shows are always a bit like going back to school after summer break. You’ve been taking it easy and basking in the sun when suddenly , with a mix of excitement and anxiety , you are faced with an overwhelmingly busy schedule! While today may have been the first official day of New York Fashion Week, the festivities really began yesterday morning when the Couture Council of the Museum at FIT hosted their annual luncheon at Cipriani to present the 2009 Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion to Dries Van Noten. Everyone from Linda Fargo and Amy Astley to Phillip Lim and Isabel Toledo were there and when Dries accepted his award (from Maggie Gyllenhaal who asked the designer to design her wedding dress last year), he said that he first and foremost wanted to thank all the women who wear his clothes for making his dreams come alive , love!
