Yes, Victoria and David have teamed up for a jaw-dropping advertisement for Armani lingerie. The advertisement in question is mounted on an enormous billboard in the centre of Milan, hopefully not near any traffic lights. Whether you love or loathe them you cannot deny they look incredible! And you’d think it was a prize enough being just so damn beautiful, but it’s rumoured the gorgeous duo have been given £32 million for these fabulous shots, this will add nicely to David’s £20 million deal and Victoria’s £12 million. Top 50 Fashion Designers In The World

Ever wondered who the top 50 fashion designers in the world are? Well, wonder no more. We’ve put together a list most famous fashion designers from around the globe. From past icons to current trailblazers who are setting the trends right now, here’s a comprehensive deep dive into the best fashion designers without whom the fashion industry just wouldn’t be the same. 1. Coco Chanel If there’s one iconic fashion designer who’s influenced the industry more than any other, it’s definitely Coco Chanel. She brought something new to the table, freeing women from the restrictions of frills and corsets, instead offering up simple, comfortable styles. And today, more than 50 years after her passing, her influence is still felt. Coco Chanel’s early life wasn’t an easy one, marked by tragedy and hardship. Her mother passed away when she was young, and she and her siblings had to be raised at an orphanage. Despite everything, Chanel was determined to make a name for herself in the world. Her designs stood out from the crowd, effortless and refined. She transformed fabrics that were traditionally associated with men’s clothing, like tweed and jersey, into chic, comfy pieces for women. The late designer will always be remembered for her creation of the little black dress, which is still a wardrobe staple for many. Chanel also branched out into the fragrance industry, launching her famous Chanel No. 5 perfume in 1921. She was a trendsetter in more ways than one, using groundbreaking marketing techniques to promote her work. And even now, you can spot her signature CC logo anywhere and to this day Chanel is one of the top French fashion brands in the world. 2. Giorgio Armani Giorgio Armani is a name that screams luxury and style, and this Italian designer has been a […]

10 Icons Who Redefined Style & Fashion Over The Past Decade

Fashion is often described as a cycle: every generation draws on aesthetic inspiration from past generations. Cowboy boots are in again, but not as they were in the 80s and not how they will be in the 2040s. But there are always icons that completely turn the fashion world on its head. 10 Fashion Icons That Redefined Fashion in the 2020s A fashion icon is someone who creates a cultural conversation and captures our imaginations for years to come.  Here are 10 icons that fit that description now and, likely, in the future. 1. Lil Nas X Rap and Hip Hop artists have long been at the forefront of fashion but are rarely praised for it. You can’t ignore Lil Nas X’s fashion moments. His pink cowboy Versace look at the Grammy Awards was stunning, but the confidence he brings with his outfits cements his icon status. 2. Britney Spears The princess of pop and fashion icon Britney Spears continues to inspire modern trends to this day. With Gen Z bringing back the Y2K trend, we’re starting to see Spears-inspired outfits and accessories, like denim on denim, low-rise jeans, matching workout wear, and pigtails again. 3. Rihanna Rihanna is a trendsetter in her own right for popularizing baggy jeans and crop tops, but her power as an icon goes well beyond that. Her Met Gala outfits are a sight to behold, especially the golden ensemble made by Guo Pei, which took 50,000 hours, or two years, to make. 4. Harry Styles Harry Styles broke the internet and the gender binary when he wore the Harris Reed dress in Vogue magazine. Styles is often seen wearing a mix of masculine and feminine silhouettes, including Victorian-era blouses with slacks and Peter Pan collars with pearl necklaces. 5. Victoria Beckham It would be […]

The Most Extravagant Engagement Rings Ever

Sometimes, when presenting a ring that will propel you and your partner into a new life together, you don’t just want to give them a symbol. You want to give then a monument. You want to give them the kind of ring that can be seen from space. Now, you could take a look at Tacori, who knows how to do extravagant very well. But first, take a look at these majestic designs and the hands they have graced. Victoria Beckham “Posh” Beckham has certainly lived up to her nickname. When David proposed, he did so with over ten rings, the most prominent being a 3-carat marquise cut diamond on a yellow gold band with a cost of $85,000 (£60,000).  Beyonce Beyonce’s marriage proposal was a musical powerhouse with Jay-Z proposing with an 18-carat, emerald cut diamond solitaire ring, with a value estimate of $5 million. Mariah Carey Though the wedding may have been called off, that didn’t stop the proposal from being a sparkling one, with James Packer presenting Mariah Carey a 35-carat, emerald cut diamond ring that cost $10 million, standing tall as the most expensive engagement ring in recorded history. Kim Kardashian West Kanye West wanted it to be a celebration to remember for his future bride. And what is more memorable than pulling out a 15-carat cushion cut diamond ring designed by Lorraine Schwartz. It is estimated to have cost between $7 and $8 million. Grace Kelly When the movie star received a marriage proposal from Prince Rainer III of Monaco, she received a 10.47-carat, emerald cut diamond ring made by Cartier, with a price estimate of $4.3 million. The ring can be glimpsed in Kelly’s final theatrical film High Society. Jackie Kennedy The former First Lady received a mighty gem from her second husband, Aristotle […]

Who will design Meghan Markle’s wedding dress?

It’s safe to say that it’s a matter of “when” rather than “if” Meghan and Harry will tie the knot. So the bigger question really is, who will design Meghan Markle’s wedding dress? Before we speculate, what we can say with certainty is that her dress won’t resemble the wedding dress she wore as her character Rachel Zane in Suits (not even a little bit). Speaking to Glamour, Meghan categorically states that Rachel’s wedding dress is not her “personal style”. So whilst that narrows down her choice of dress ever so slightly (and we mean VERY slightly as there’s still a ton of other styles she could opt for), who will have the honour of designing her wedding dress is a mystery! As we excitedly wait for an official announcement as well as confirmation of the chosen designer, we’ve put together a mini list of the designers we predict will be in the running. 1. Victoria Beckham Already a close friend of the family (the Beckham’s were guests at Kate and William’s wedding) according to reports if Harry has his way then the former Spice Girl will be the designer of choice. Meghan’s worn Victoria’s designs on a number of occasions and if all goes to plan, Meghan and Harry and the Beckham’s may be neighbours in the not-so-distant future, further cementing their friendship. 2. Roland Mouret Meghan and Roland Mouret became fast friends after an encounter in Istanbul in which Mouret declared how much he’d love to dress the actress. Responsible for the infamous galaxy dress and loved by many celeb starlets, Mouret is the ideal candidate. Both Meghan and Mouret have declared their fondness of each other with pics on Instagram, and having a friend design her dress would make her big day even more special. 3. Erdem Ok, now admittedly […]

The influence of Hollywood glamour isn’t what it used to be

There were times when just about all of the world’s most glamorous women were to be found in and around Hollywood. The movie industry was like a magnet for young girls intent on becoming stars, but in recent times the allure of the film capital of the planet has waned considerably. The question now is will it ever be as popular again? Glamorous icons of the last 100 years or so included some of Hollywood’s biggest and most influential stars. From Paulette Goddard and Tallulah Bankhead to Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, they sashayed across the silver screen and captivated millions in the process. The world watched and the world listened. The allure of these superstars helped to sell everything from designer clothing to cosmetics, not to mention movie tickets, of course. Men wanted to be with them and women wanted to be them, and it seemed at one point that the only way to fame and fortune for women was by making sure they were spotted in Tinseltown. In recent decades, however, many of the world’s most glamorous ladies have come from the world of television and music. One look at those hitting the headlines in the celebrity magazines and advertising products like lip gloss and mineral foundation is enough to show you that Hollywood’s influence is beginning to disappear. Same destination as ever, but a different route to get there A list of the most iconic women in the world of fashion at the moment includes the likes of Victoria Beckham, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Rihanna, all of whom are known for their music as much as for their dress sense. It’s difficult to see any of the latest movie stars ever managing to achieve such worldwide fame as this quartet. In a similar vein, many more […]

Pinch yourselves… Anna Wintour has taken the Ice Bucket Challenge!

There are two people we never thought would take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge that continues to take the social media world by storm. And those people are Victoria Beckham and Anna Wintour. We don’t really need to give a reason as it’s pretty obvious. However, we seem to have been proven wrong as Anna Wintour has taken her Ice Bucket Challenge nomination (by her daughter, no less!) in her stride and taken the challenge like a true champ. Way to go, Anna! The American Vogue editor-in-chief appears to be wearing a Miu Miu dress – something we would never do if we knew we would be drenched in water – and her trademark sunnies, and is doused by several children holding red buckets filled with chilly water. It was obviously a case of “go hard or go home”. Take a look at the video below to see Ms Wintour in action. Oh, and if we are to believe what we see on Victoria Beckham’s Instagram account, we feel she might be next…

2 ways to wear the Hawes and Curtis plain white semi fitted boutique shirt

We love a white shirt; after all, there’s nothing not to love about them. A crisp white shirt is just what you need for that perfect professional office ensemble – it’s a classic for a reason! Plus nothing gets a potential employer’s attention more than a clean white shirt paired with an equally clean skirt or trouser suit and the right accessories (always go for practical yet understated in this situation). To prove just how versatile the crisp white shirt actually is, here are two very different but equally stylish ways to style the boutique shirt. (It isn’t just your average white shirt either, as it has very cute contrast floral jacquard detailing that sets it apart from the rest.) Here goes: Option 1 White shirts don’t always have to be boring and reserved just for the office though as they can also be glammed up for nights out too. A tight fitted white shirt like the one above teamed with an equally tight pair of leather trousers (or wet look leggings if it’s too hot – or you’ve had one too many chips for dinner – to crack out the leather) and fierce sky high heels speaks volumes on a night out. Not a fan of trousers on a night out? No problem – tuck it inside an A-line mini skirt and you’ve got that cute, chic, smart look absolutely nailed! Option 2 Your skirt can be any colour of your choice – after all, one of the many beauties of a white top is that it goes with absolutely anything and everything – although we think going for monochrome is a pretty powerful colour combo right now. Just ask the likes of Victoria Beckham and Angelina Jolie – two ladies who not only do the monochrome trend, but […]

Heidi Middleton and Sarah-Jane Clarke leave Sass and Bide!

After 15 years at the helm of the Australian label they founded together, Sass and Bide’s Heidi Middleton and Sarah-Jane Clarke will be moving onto pastures new. “Both Heidi and Sarah-Jane have been slowly transitioning out of the business, and it has now reached a point where both girls feel confident that the business will go on to grow and thrive without their day-to-day involvement,” reads a statement from the brand. “The girls leave behind a rich legacy of creating a brand that is built on spirit and heart, qualities that are deeply etched in the collections, the communications and its people. Those qualities will continue to define and drive the brand for years to come.” We certainly agree with that – especially as we have seen some of the collections ourselves during London Fashion Week, before the brand headed to the Big Apple for New York Fashion Week. The ladies leave the label in good hands though, as former Victoria Beckham and Mulberry design consultant Antony Cuthbertson will be leading the creative team, with art direction from Ronnie O’Hare. We look forward to seeing what the label’s new collection is like, as well as what Heidi and Sarah-Jane will be getting up to. Watch this space! [Vogue]

Five of the Most Lavish Celebrity Weddings

No one does weddings like celebrities; spectacular, wildly extravagant nuptials are not uncommon when movie stars and other famous brides and grooms tie the knot. We can try to replicate the same grandeur with all the diamond rings and fancy things we want. However, there are a few celebrity weddings that truly stand-out from the rest of the pack. 1. Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were married in a sunset ceremony in July of 2000 on a Malibu, California estate. Guests included Courtney Cox, David Schwimmer, Salma Hayek, and Cameron Diaz. The theme of the event was a “Zen garden” and included 50,000 flowers plus candles in the reception tent. A gospel choir and four bands performed, and guests were served lobster and champagne at the reception. A Fireworks display topped off the evening. 2. Donald Trump and Melania Knauss No list of most lavish anything would be complete without real mogul Donald Trump’s name somewhere on it. He wed model Melania Knauss in Palm Beach, Florida in January 2005 and the reception was held at Trump’s stunning Mar-a- Largo Club. The bride wore a 50 pound Christian Dior wedding gown that featured 1,500 beaded crystals, and a 13 foot train. Some of the guests included Barbara Walters, Katie Couric, Rudy Giuliana, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Simon Cowell, Regis Philbin, and Kelly Ripa. The ballroom of Mar-a-Largo was made to look like Versailles for the reception and was decorated with 10,000 flowers. 3. Tiger Woods and Elin Nordgren A grand wedding is no guarantee of marital bliss, but Tiger Woods and Elin Nordgren certainly got married life off to a royal start. They married in 2004 at the exclusive Sandy Lane Resort on the Caribbean island of Barbados. Woods rented out the entire resort in an […]

Which fashion names made the Forbes 100 Most Powerful Women list?

A few weeks after the release of the Sunday Times Rich List comes the highly anticipated Forbes 100 Most Powerful Women list… and once again, some of fashion’s biggest names have made the cut. Vogue US Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour was the highest ranking fashion name coming in at a very respectable number 39 (two places higher than last year, we’ll have you know!) and it’s thought that her work on the Barack Obama re-election campaign and her continuous work with the newly re-named Anna Wintour Costume Center helped her promotion up the list. Gisele, i.e. the highest paid supermodel in the world according to Forbes, once again made the list – and she should feel extra privileged because she was actually the only model to make the list. We bet Naomi Campbell will have something to say about that… Spanx founder and sartorial saviour to women everywhere Sara Blakely came in at number 93, and former Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts – who has now moved to Apple – secured position number 49. Designers such as Miuccia Prada, Diane von Furstenberg and Tory Burch have also made the list – no surprises there although we expected to see Stella McCartney and Victoria Beckham in there too. Maybe next year, perhaps? Angelina Jolie and Shakira made the list for all their charitable efforts, as did Beyonce and Sofia Vergara. Click here to take a look at the list in all its glory, and find out who secured the very top spot. Go on, have a guess….

Fendi Demi Jour convertible satchel: Yay or Nay?

It’s great because… Well, it’s pretty much impossible not to fall head over heels in love with any Fendi accessory! The Demi Jour convertible satchel (£1,405) is the latest bag from the luxury fashion house that has us weak at the knees! Adorned with a striking graphic pattern, and a convertible carrying option, the Demi Jour satchel really is the ideal bag. Crafted from buttery-soft calf leather, the nude and coral outer makes for a striking contrast. Tempted to snap up this conversation starter? Read on… It’s a YAY for… 2-in-1 Bag: The convertible option makes the Demi Jour satchel a super-versatile investment. Fancy a splash of colour? Switch to carrying it with the bright coral side on show, or stick with the patterned nude hued side for when your look is more subtle. Easy day-to-night option: Thanks to the top satchel handle and detachable shoulder strap, the Demi Jour satchel is perfect for work or play. Slip it over your shoulder for a day spent running errands, or carry it to work it by the top handle and let your colleagues look on in envy! You can even channel the runway trend of carrying it under your arm, à la Victoria Beckham. And a NAY for… Price: When was anything labelled ‘Fendi’ ever cheap? If you’re looking to make a serious luxury investment, be prepared to cough up a wholesome £1,405 to bag this beauty (pun intended). Trend-centric colours: Although we love the summery vibe this satchel gives off, the colours could potentially fall into the ‘trend’ category. Nude and coral, put together, is not the easiest of colour combinations to style with your wardrobe. If you’re a grey/navy/black lover, then steer colour; for those looking to add a dash of boldness to (future) glum winter looks, shop away! Fendi […]

The richest fashion families – from the Armanis to the Versaces – revealed!

The Sunday Times Rich List was announced at the weekend, but now it’s time to take a look at a list a little more fashion focused. More specifically, the 14 most powerful fashion families – thank you Harper’s Bazaar! So, who do you think made the list? It comes as no surprise to learn that the Armanis have got it pretty good; as of 2013, Giorgio Armani’s fortune was estimated at over $8.5 billion, and with his sister Rosanna and two nieces Silvana and Roberta also working with/for him, that’s a very rich family indeed! No fashion rich list is complete without Ralph Lauren and his family; his £14 billion empire can’t be ignored! Ralph’s wife and children do their bit for the family name and business by representing the Ralph Lauren brand across the world, which we think makes them entitled to dip into the RL family savings. Donatella Versace is obviously high on the list, running the House of Versace for her brother Gianni Versace, while relative newcomer Alexander Wang and his family have already cemented their place on the list. And with his fashion involvements increasing as the days go on, he won’t be disappearing from the list any time soon. We’re glad and not at all surprised to see Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen on the list either. They may have come into the spotlight when they were under a year old, but the work they have done for their fashion empire is no coincidence or stroke of luck. They’ve worked hard to go from child actors to respected fashion designers, and that’s definitely reflected in the success of their The Row and Elizabeth and James clothing lines – not to mention their eye-watering fortune! The one name we’re shocked to see omitted from the list? The […]

The Met Gala 2014: The best dressed!

All the big names in fashion, film, and music gathered at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City last night, for the highly anticipated Met Gala! This year, the museum was honouring Charles James, and the dress-code was a very simple (albeit slightly “boring” according to Marc Jacobs) “white tie and decorations”. Anyone familiar with the work of Charles James would know that elegant eveningwear was his thing, so they wouldn’t have gone wrong by donning the finest couture pieces with some elegant jewels. There were many ladies who absolutely nailed their looks, while some probably should have stayed home. Stella McCartney had a big moment on the red carpet, dressing the likes of Rihanna and Reese Witherspoon so flawlesslessly for the event, in two very different but equally stunning dresses. Rihanna went for her signature sexy look, while Reese was a vintage glamour goddess. Selena Gomez also wowed on the red carpet for us, looking very mature for just 21 years old in a bold deep purple Diane von Furstenberg dress. We also love how Gossip Girl stars Blake Lively and Leighton Meester were reunited at the Met Gala – they both looked amazing in  their respective Gucci Premiere and Emilio Pucci dresses. Not all of the ladies went for full-length or ballgown dresses (like Hayden Panettiere who looked like a Princess!) though – Solange Knowles and Lena Dunham were just two of the stars who went for something a little bit shorter. The impact definitely wasn’t lost though. Here are our best dressed celebs from last night’s Met Gala. Let us know who gets your vote in the comments below. Victoria Beckham in Victoria Beckham Rihanna in Stella McCartney Blake Lively in Gucci Premiere Reese Witherspoon in Stella McCartney Selena Gomez in Diane von Furstenberg Emma […]

Steep vs. Cheap: The ultimate work dress

There’s nothing more mundane than boring office wear. Agreed? But thanks to certain designers taking it upon themselves to make our work wardrobes a more stylish affair, the days of formal greys and boring cuts are fading fast. This week’s steep vs. cheap option is a winner, even if we do say so ourselves! Not much beats the promotion-bagging qualities of a form-fitting, brightly hued dress; and when it also fits in day-to-night appeal, resistance (to purchase) is futile. First in at the steep end this week is the mesh-trimmed silk and wool-blend dress from the very woman who balances style with a fiercely entrepreneurial spirit to perfection: Victoria Beckham. Spliced with sheer mesh, the kingfisher blue, silhouette-skimming dress plays into the sports luxe trend with ease, yet still boasts slick boardroom appeal. Looking to splash out? Shop the steep option right here: Victoria Beckham mesh-trimmed silk and wool-blend dress, £1,550, available at Net-a-Porter. However, if your bank balance refuses to stretch to VB’s price tag, fear not! Allowing you to step into work in style is the equally flattering, contrast panel bodycon dress. Nipped at the waist for a cinched effect, the contrast panels and back-zip detail give it high end allure with a very satisfying price tag. Want to go from work to sipping waboritas in less than 30 seconds flat? Just add a simple clutch, and you’re good to go. Feeling the pinch, and want to curb the spending? Thrifty option this way:  Contrast panel bodycon dress, £45, available at Closet.
