Alexa Chung turns Tommy Hilfiger guest editor

We can barely keep track of Alexa Chung’s list of fashion collaborations, especially now yet another one has been announced. Her latest project? Alexa Chung, presenter and style maven, has been tapped by Tommy Hilfiger as a guest editor for the autumn/winter 2014 season. How exciting! This means that we will see her choose and style a selection of products on the Tommy Hilfiger website and in stores each and every month – starting from this month until January next year – in order to give us inspiration while shopping. “Alexa is the true definition of an ‘It’ girl — she’s cool, witty, smart and has a great sense of style,” Tommy Hilfiger told WWD. “She knows how to mix of-the-moment styling with classic design for a unique look that’s totally her own.” We couldn’t agree more. And it sounds like the lady herself is pretty chuffed with her new role too… “To be embraced by such a behemoth of an American fashion brand is a huge honour,” she added. Aww! We have every faith that Alexa will bring her own unique British meets androgynous meets casual meets quirky style to the Tommy Hilfiger brand. We can’t wait to see her first edit! [Fashion United]

Alexa Chung oozes sexy femininity in Burberry

Our invite to Nick Grimshaw’s birthday party must have got lost in the post, but despite not being there we know for a fact that two beautiful British things were present. 1.) Alexa Chung and 2.) Burberry. While we aren’t surprised to see Alexa wearing British brand Burberry, we weren’t expecting to see her in such a daring, sexy, and dare we say, feminine ensemble; especially for something as casual and personal as a good friend’s birthday party. A big red carpet event, sure, but not a night out in London! Alexa wore a gorgeous silk Georgette dress with a beautiful intricate print from the Burberry Prorsum autumn/winter 2014 collection, which she teamed with Bionda Castana Nicole mid-heels, a gold chain and a matching blue and white fur stole. We just can’t get over the above-the-thigh slit! More feminine sexy looks please, Alexa!

Alexa Chung collaborates with AG Jeans on a denim collection!

It’s been a few weeks since we posted that Alexa Chung beauty tutorial YouTube video, which means you’ve probably perfected her signature eye flick by now. Well, now we are giving you the chance to dress your lower body like her too, as it’s just been announced that she will be launching her very own denim collection. Squeal! Alexa Chung, who seldom fails to look incredible in a pair of jeans or anything made from the denim material for that matter, will be teaming up with AG Jeans for a limited edition 20-piece collection of jeans, dungarees and denim dresses. “The collection is inherently the missing pieces of my dream denim wardrobe, which, as ever, is predominantly inspired by a late Sixties, early Seventies aesthetic,” she said. That’s right, we can expect pieces inspired by those very fashionable decades, in colours such as the classic Wrangler and Lee shades of blue, as well as “palest pink, cream, rusty red and]washed army green.” Certainly sounds like she knows what she wants! She even visited the 400,000 square foot factory for maximum research and inspiration… “I found the trip incredibly inspiring and an opportunity to learn about denim and make things I had been dreaming about finding,” she added. We genuinely can’t wait for this collection to become available. Stay tuned for more info – especially some pictures, hopefully! – as and when we get it! This has definitely been a long time coming. WATCH how to get Alexa Chung’s iconic 60s make-up look… by Alexa Chung herself!

You can’t stay on YouTube for longer than five minutes without running into a celebrity-inspired make-up tutorial, but you don’t often find aforementioned tutorials by the celebs themselves. Hence why we were doubly thrilled to find an Alexa Chung make-up video by none other than Alexa Chung herself. What a wonderful Monday treat! Make-up artist Lisa Eldridge, who regularly does Alexa’s make-up, has made a video that aims to show us how to get Alexa’s coveted sixties look. The video features the ladies talking us through Alexa’s make-up from start to finish, tells us what products they use so we can go out and get them ourselves (FYI – they use everything from Chanel to Rimmel to her very own Eyeko range so it’s a real mixed bag, which is exactly what we like to see!) and even shows us how Alexa does her signature feline flick with liquid eyeliner herself. If only all make-up tutorials were this star-studded! Watch the video below to see the before and after transformation!

Alexa Chung suits up in red velvet Saint Laurent

We know that Alexa Chung is a fan of the androgynous look – that’s not news to us, or anyone for that matter – so when we heard that she was spotted in a red suit, we didn’t really bat an eyelid. We expected her to look cracking, as always, but we didn’t actually expect what we saw. Style maven Alexa Chung joined a host of other fabulously dressed people at the My Theresa and Anya Hindmarch party at London’s Royal Academy of Arts, and opted to wear a stunning red velvet skirt suit by Saint Laurent for the occasion. Didn’t expect us to say “skirt”, did you? Alexa looks fabulously feminine in her matching skirt suit, which she accessorised with a simple black tee underneath and Tabitha Simmons flat shoes. Some things never change, eh? And we’re glad of it too – one of the many things we love about Alexa is her ability to always stay true to herself. We love this look; and the golden glow is a fab addition, too!

Lea Seydoux vs. Alexa Chung…Who wore Miu Miu better?

Faced with two exceptionally well-dressed women, the decision to pick a winner is never easy. This week, making us tear our hair out (dramatic, we know) are Lea Seydoux and Alexa Chung in the same spring 2014 Miu Miu dress. On the one hand we have a chic Frenchie, who loves nothing more than oozing that je ne sai quoi with every red carpet look she sports; on the other, a Brit famed worldwide for her threw-it-together-and-walked-outta-the-house approach to dressing. Tough one, no? Getting first dibs on the pretty printed number was Lea, who wore it to the  EE Rising Star award nominations photo call back in January. Styled with embellished Miu Miu pumps, a simple, centre-parted hairdo and minimal make-up, Lea’s look made for striking eye-opener at the event. Alexa gave the dress its second outing, at the Miu Miu Women’s Tales 7th Edition – Spark & Light screening in February, in New York City. The long-limbed beauty naturally put her stamp on the ultra-feminine look, by accessorising with a snake-print bag and pointy black boots. A causal, low-slung pony tail and her signature liner-flicked eyes completed the look. So, whose look comes out top? Both ladies look exceptionally polished in their own ways, but we’re going to give this one to…wait for it…Alexa! Surprised? Well, Lea’s look may be the prim way to do a floral-print dress, but Alexa brings a certain daytime quality to her look; we can imagine styling it this way for the office, but we’d swap the salmon coloured bag for a teeny black shoulder bag. Thoughts? Whose look are you diggin’? [Images: Lea; Alexa]

Get Alexa Chung’s Carven/flats look

As we learnt last week while watching the latest Chanel Couture show, heels are pretty much a thing of the past as it’s all about flats, baby! Alexa Chung is one lady who didn’t need Karl Lagerfeld to convince her to step out in flats, as she’s been rocking the heel-less trend for years, which is probably why she does it so well. One of her latest looks is a perfect example of this, hence why we are more than happy to admit to stealing her style. It isn’t the cheapest of outfits this week, but both Carven dress and Charlotte Olympia flats can be classed as “investment pieces” that can be worn season after season. Winner! Broderie anglasie kiwi-print dress, £570, Carven available at Matches Kitty flat slippers, £458.53, Charlotte Olympia available at Far Fetch [Image]

Alexa Chung’s debut clothing line is launching next year!

We have many reasons to look forward to the new year, and one of them is definitely the arrival of style maven and it girl (just don’t call her an it girl to her face) Alexa Chung‘s debut fashion collection. We don’t know exactly what her fashion collection will entail just yet, and it doesn’t sound like she does either… “I need some time to think about it,” she said. “2014 is going to be the first opportunity where I haven’t had a nine-to-five job. I’ve kind of been doing Eyeko, I wrote a book, I did Fuse every day, and various other design gigs and DJing. So this will be the first time to actually sort of sit down and think about it.” We want her to come out with a cracking collection, but we hope she doesn’t take too much time working on it because we can’t wait to see it. We hope to see lots of cute flats, printed knits and dungarees in true Alexa style! [Vogue]

Alexa Chung is the new face of Longchamp!

Alexa Chung has followed in the footsteps of Coco Rocha and our very own Kate Moss, as she has become the latest face of French leather goods brand Longchamp! The spring/summer 2014 ad campaign images were shot in sunny St Tropez last month by Max Vadukul, and will break in the February editions of some of our favourite mags including Elle and Vogue. The main focus of the ads, apart from Alexa obviously, is the new drool-worthy Escales collection. “For the new Escales collection – which is cheerful, colourful and bursting with energy – we needed a woman who was both chic and modern,” said Marie-Sabine Leclercq, a spokesperson for the label. “Alexa Chung is the woman who embodies it the best. Her enchanting gaze, which is very strong and very present, gives the campaign a lot of personality. She has energy and confidence. “The whole team fell under her spell. She immediately had a real vision and made a very on-point contribution to the looks for the shoot. There was such a synergy and an energy that we all went home delighted with this initial experience with her.” Wow, we think that’s the highest praise we’ve ever heard someone give an ad campaign star; way to go Alexa! Maybe Longchamp will do a Mulberry and create a bag inspired by her since she impressed the brand so much… watch this space! [Vogue]

Alexa Chung rocks floral Valentino in the Big Apple

We might have forgotten about flowers as far as growing them in our gardens go, but wearing them on our clothes is still as hot a trend as ever. And style maven and it girl (just don’t let her know you’re calling her an it girl!) Alexa Chung is walking proof of that! Alexa headed to New York City earlier this week to launch her brand new book It, and rocked an attention-grabbing dark floral dress from the Valentino autumn/winter 2013 collection for her promotional appearance. See if Valentino ad Alexa Chung say it’s ok to wear flowers in November, there’s no reason you shouldn’t either! Although Alexa’s Valentino dress was intricate and extravagant, she toned down the look and made it more casual by sporting some black tights (although that might have been a decision influenced by the weather!) and cute black Louis Vuitton pumps with a bow on the front. Aww! She completed her look with her signature black-lined eyes and messy up-do. Another style triumph, we reckon. What say you? [Image]

Alexa Chung gets sexy for Flare’s November issue

Is it just us or is Alexa Chung getting hotter with every magazine cover shoot? Can’t be just us, surely? We know that the Chungster is a big hit with the ladies because of her unrivalled style and sartorial choices, but we think her latest magazine cover shoot for Flare’s November issue will get the boys’ blood pumping too. Inside the mag, Alexa opens up about about a variety of different topics, including turning 30 (which she’ll be doing very soon if you can believe it!) , her jobs, and of course, her love life. “I’m a serial monogamist. I can’t just casually sleep with boys. It’s just not for me,” she said. “Call me old-fashioned. I don’t sleep with people I don’t find interesting, or whose brain isn’t the main turn-on for me. It’s not like I just get all, ‘Oh, he’s fit.’ It’s often there’s a deeper connection, so it just means it lasts a bit longer.” And how does she feel about dating in the Big Apple now that she spends a lot of her time there? “There’s a richness of incredibly intelligent, talented and f*cking interesting women in New York and far fewer men,” she continued “I’m always helping out girlfriends and then I’m wondering, who’s going to look after me? But it’s because I seem like I have my shit together. That’s not necessarily the case.” We don’t think Alexa Chung will have any trouble finding a boyfriend. What’s not to love about her? (Rhetorical question, obviously!)

Alexa Chung talks It girl status in October’s Nylon

Alexa Chung is on fire this month. As well as launching her brand new book It, covering British Vogue’s latest issue and finding herself on the front row of the hottest designers this Fashion Week, you can also see her fronting the October issue of Nylon. Doesn’t she look great rocking her signature androgynous look? The 29-year-old is posing in some gorgeous designer threads from Louis Vuitton to Chanel to all else in-between in the editorial, as she also opens up about her ‘It’ girl status and her portrayal as a fashion maven… “I could never be that earnest about giving fashion advice because I don’t want people to think that I think I’m that great,” she said, before telling the mag what she thought about being referred to as an “it” girl. “It’s a funny title,” she continued. “The older I get, the more I’m like, ‘Oh it’s not that bad.’ But when ‘It’ was first stuck on me, I was like, ‘No, I’m not!’ I felt like that label was reserved for girls who were famous for being famous. “Is Kate Moss still an It Girl? Charlotte Rampling? Jane Birkin? I wouldn’t rank myself alongside those women, but if the It Girls of yesteryear are still ‘It,’ I don’t think any of them lost what they made them unique.” They definitely haven’t, and we don’t think Alexa will either. We can’t wait to get our hands on this issue; well played Nylon!

Alexa Chung wears Carven for ‘It’ book launch

One minute we’re talking about her British Vogue October issue front cover, and the next we’re gushing over her appearance at the launch of her debut book. Yep, we really can’t get enough of Alexa Chung, and judging by the picture above, we’re sure you can see why. The British style maven looked gorgeous in an off-the-shoulder Carven creation for the launch of her debut book, It, at Liberty in London yesterday. Although the dress was pretty feminine, she maintained her signature tomboy look by opting for a disheveled updo, minimal make-up, and flat shoes. Alexa also opted to wear a Carven number to the GQ Men of the Year Awards, so it looks like the brand is becoming one of her firm favourites. They certainly are a match made in heaven! Alexa Chung’s debut make-up range!

Exciting news for all Alexa Chung fans. I.e. everyone! Our fave TV presenter and all-round style maven is launching her very own beauty collection! We know what you’re thinking – what took her so long, right? Alexa has teamed up with British eye make-up brand Eyeko for her debut capsule collection, and although there are no deets on what products we can expect yet, we can almost guarantee that liquid eyeliner will feature somewhat prominently. “I met up with Max from Eyeko and we got along very well, I was inspired by his energy and the products themselves,” Alexa told Vogue. “So I started scribbling down ideas about how they could improve them and coming up with little puns that I could see or imagine on the barrels of the tubes. I just felt the whole company seemed fun and it got my creative juices flowing and it became quite an organic collaboration”. Alexa Chung and Eyeko seem like a match made in beauty heaven and we can’t wait to find out more info on this collaboration. Watch this space! [My Daily]

Alexa Chung does Chanel chic at the Grand Palais in Paris

Sure Alexa Chung does dressed-down androgynous meets schoolgirl chic like no other, but she knows how to do ladylike and classy too. In fact not only does she know how to do it, but she knows how to excel in it; rock it, if you will. Take her look for the Chanel Haute Couture show at the Grand Palais in Paris, for example… Alexa took a leaf out of Jennifer Aniston’s book by opting for a short, little black dress, but unlike Jen who considers her LBD her go-to, safe outfit, this was sort of out of Alexa’s sartorial comfort zone. The ladylike lace sleeves are something we would expect from Kate Middleton (in fact it was one of the defining aspects of her wedding dress, remember?) but not from Alexa. That being said, she pulled them – and the entire look – off perfectly, and her personal style wasn’t lost either thanks to the chic but slightly messy updo and the quirky buckle sandals. And her look wouldn’t have been complete without that stunning Chanel bag draped over her shoulder! The Chungmeister got it right once again – no surprises there!

Alexa Chung: “I look back and think, ‘Did you really need an 18-year-old girl to strip in your front room?’”

It’s no secret that we love Alexa Chung, and we’re pretty sure that she’d say she’s pretty chuffed with the way her life panned out too. After all, she’s a successful TV presenter, fashion glossy and ad campaign star, and general fashion ‘it’ girl with her own book coming out very soon. However, Alexa opened up to The Times about a time in her life that wasn’t quite as sweet – i.e. her teenage modelling days! “I actually kept modelling very separate,” she said. “I never really asked my mum or my dad’s advice during that time and it actually felt like I didn’t want to tell them too much about the reality of what was going on – when I was taking the train to London and being asked to do certain things. “I already knew it was wrong. So, you know, if there was a casting where some creepy man there had gone on to his flat in Ilford, and, you know, ‘Take your clothes off…’ and if I’d have done it, I won’t tell my mum because I know that’s wrong. “In hindsight, I look back and think, ‘Did you really need an 18-year-old girl to strip in your front room?’ I get flashbacks now. Loads of flashbacks. I’ll be reminded of something because I’ve sort of blocked it out and I don’t really think of those days. We bet she’s glad those times are behind her! [Daily Mail]

Alexa Chung does edgy workwear in House of Holland

Henry Holland, i.e. he of the swish “must-be-seen-at” parties, hosted a dinner in New York last night to celebrate his brand new Resort collection. And as you can imagine, it was attended by some of the hottest and most fashionable folk in the industry. Never one to miss a Henry Holland bash was our girl Alexa Chung, who once again looked effortlessly chic and stylish in her perfectly put together ensemble. She rocked up to the dinner in a quirky House of Holland pencil skirt (far longer than her usual hemlines, we must say!), which she accessorised with a sharp shirt, a Mulberry satchel, and a fierce leather jacket for that much-needed edge and grunge factor. Alexa loves a bit of school-girl aesthetic, but her look has definitely matured on this occasion, as her sartorial inspiration was more office woman than school girl. Flawless, as usual though. We miss you Chungers, come back to the UK soon, please! [Image]

Her trend-setting knows no bounds! Hopefully some more pics and maybe even a cheeky vid will surface soon – we have a feeling this is going to be a very popular partnership! [Marie Claire]

Alexa Chung vs. Audrey Tautou: Who wore Valentino Red better?

For this week’s fash-off, two beauties from either side of the Channel bring their A-game to rightfully take their place under the style spotlight. Brit beauty, Alexa Chung, and our favourite ‘Coco Chanel’ this side of the 21st century, Audrey Tautou both wore the same Valentino number, albeit  a few months apart. Alexa was the first to take to the red carpet in the pretty tea-length dress at the 2013 Grammy Awards, back in February. Sporting her signature, popping red lips and wispy, swept back locks, Alexa finished off her look with ankle strap crystal pumps, also by Valentino. Second in line to slip into the dress was French beauty Audrey Tautou, who injected a copious dose of gamine charm into the opening photo call for Cannes 2013. Bestowed with the duty of mistress of ceremonies at both the opening and closing of Cannes 2013, Audrey sure took her role seriously in the fashion department, pairing the tea-dress with nude pumps and going virtually makeup free. But who takes the honourable title of fash-off champ? Both ladies went sans accessories, and put their own slant on the dress, but the overall look was a definitively girly one. Although we’re struggling to decide, we’ll have to give this one to Alexa, simply for jazzing up the entire outfit with crystals on her feet and a red pout. The dress is quite a subtle colour, so needs a little lift, and Alexa’s styling does just that. Audrey’s look, on the other hand, was saccharine sweet but a little too washed out for liking. Do you agree with our fash-off verdict?

Alexa Chung talks layering, pyjamas, and hating everything “sexy” in Time Out New York

It’s been a bit quiet on the Alexa Chung front these days now that she’s spending more and more time in New York. Sob! However, one perk of the 29-year-old presenter and general it girl moving to the Big Apple is that her wardrobe has a whole new lease of life and we get to see her tackle more trends than the British weather might permit over here. “I find spring and summer in NYC particularly difficult to dress for because my style is absolutely based on layering,” she told Time Out New York magazine. “When I can’t do that, I don’t understand what I’m going to do. I hate anything sexy, and I hate a lot of flesh showing, but there’s no other option. If I could walk around in a bikini I’d be okay, because it’s that hot.” Alright for some. You can read more great fashion quotes from Alexa in Time Out New York‘s spring fashion issue, including her style philosophy and her current style obsession… hint: it’s all about comfort! “Well, today I turned up in my pyjamas, so that is sort of an indication of where I’m at, clothes-wise,” she continued. “I’m on TV every day so I have to wear a full done-up outfit, so when I get home I’m really focused on jeans, sweatshirts and comfort.” Sounds good to us! Alexa Chung scoops Best Dressed of the Week in Chanel

With fashion month officially here, it’s only fitting we end our week with a name often affiliated with a distinct sense of style. Yes, we’re talking about the inimitable Alexa Chung who, not content with sitting pretty at every front row, has only hopped across the pond to become America’s fashion darling! Kicking of New York Fashion Week, the A-listers flocked to the annual amfAR New York gala in all their finery, and Alexa was once again waving the flag for us painfully stylish Brits in a gorgeous Chanel number. Looking more girly than school girl (bar the school photo stance), Alexa wore a pearl-embellished, black and white tweed dress from the Spring 2013 collection. She went for the look exactly as it was shown on the runway, but gave the heavy pearl choker a miss, instead accessorising with a Chanel shoulder bag and PVC toe-cap pumps. We couldn’t stop envying Alexa’s anything-but-perfect hair even if we tried, and the low, mussed up pony tail and peachy hue on the lips work well to give Alexa’s look a girly touch without wandering into stereotypical saccharine sweet territory. That just wouldn’t sit right with our favourite tomboy in a dress! Way to go, Chung!

Alexa Chung vs. Chloë Moretz: Who wore Simone Rocha better?

We love a style stand-off between two seriously credible fashion mavens, and who better to pit against each other than Brit fashion force, Alexa Chung, and the inimitable young style star, Chloë Moretz! Alexa and Chloë wore the same spring 2013 Simone Rocha dress, opting for different colours, and rocked it in their individual ways to perfection! Alexa was up first, wearing a black version of the embroidered organza dress, embellished with outsized daisies, to the 2012 British Fashion Awards. True to her ultra-cool style, Alexa accessorised her look with a lady-like top handle bag and embroidered Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Belle Epoque’ mesh booties. Her hair had that perfect Parisian gloss to it, whilst makeup was kept to a minimum, accented only by feline eyes. Chloë Moretz started off 2013 with a bang, when she wore the same dress to the People’s Choice Awards last month. The 15-year-old, who is already considered a serious style contender amongst the fash pack, opted for a fun neon colour (an age-appropriate choice for a young fashionista) and accessorised her look with black Casadei ‘Blade’ pumps and a slick of colour on her nails; such a loud dress really needs nothing more. So, how are we expected to choose between two pristinely dressed ladies when both look equally fabulous?! Alexa picked up her third gong for the ‘British Style’ Award on the night (no surprises there), and Chloë racks up red carpet style praise like its going out of fashion, but there can only be one winner… We love how artfully constructed Alexa’s look is; those embroidered booties would never work, but there’s nothing Alexa cannot pull off! However, we did inhale deeply with awe when we laid eyes on Chloë’s eye-opening look, so she kinda steals the fash-off champion title this week (sorry Alexa!). […]

Rita Ora replaces Alexa Chung as face of Superga!

Hot singer-of-the-moment Rita Ora has just been named the new face of Superga, replacing former brand ambassador Alexa Chung. Don’t feel bad for Alexa though; she wasn’t unceremoniously dropped… it was more a case of her being too busy with TV commitments in America to carry on. Superga assures us that there’s no hard feelings though! Although we will miss Alexa and her effortlessly quirky and stylish ways, we’re excited to see what Rita Ora will bring to the brand and how she incorporates the iconic shoe designs into her wardrobe. We can expect to see Rita’s debut spring/summer ad campaign drop in March next year, so still quite a bit of time to wait to see what she and the brand have up their sleeves. Watch Alexa Chung’s Gossip Girl cameo

Americans must be quite fond of Alexa Chung, as she seems to be spending a lot of time over there these days. While she’s been in the States, Alexa’s been to many a high profile fashion event, shown her support for Barack Obama by taking part in a public service announcement video, and of course, filmed a cameo appearance for Gossip Girl.  Alexa’s episode aired in the US earlier this week, and thanks to some technological wiz-kids, it’s already available to watch online. We don’t know a great deal about the context of her appearance, but she seems to be taking part in a fashion show that Leighton Meester’s character Blair Waldorf is organising. But in true Gossip Girl fashion, it doesn’t seem to have gone according to plan… Check out the amusing clip below and let us know what you make of Alexa’s acting talents. Season 6 of Gossip Girl is on ITV2 at 7pm every Wednesday.

Alexa Chung and Tavi Gevinson sing their support for Obama

With the day of the US presidential elections edging closer and closer, it looks like Barack Obama needs all the help he can get if he is to defeat opponent Mitt Romney who plans to axe funding for Planned Parenthood if he is elected. A host of A-listers from the likes of Beyonce and Jessica Alba have been keen to show their support for current President Barack Obama, but that’s not where it ends. Even Alexa Chung has jumped on the bandwagon, and has joined Tavi Gevinson, Tennessee Thomas and more ladies in lip-synching Lesley Gore’s 1964 hit You Don’t Own Me in a bid to encourage women to vote against Mitt Romney. The video was spearheaded by Sarah Sophie Flicker, the leader of cabaret act The Citizens Band. “In a year that has seen the greatest backlash against women’s rights in recent history, now is the time not only to vote, but to send a mandate,” Sarah told Examiner. “I’m struck by the fact that we are teetering dangerously close to a situation where my daughter won’t have the same rights I’ve enjoyed my entire life and that scares the heck out of me. Women constituted 60 per cent of the last election’s voters. We can win this thing. We just have to agitate, motivate, and get out the darn vote!” You heard her, American readers!

Alexa Chung: “You can appreciate my style without having to appreciate my weight”

We regard Alexa Chung as a bit of a style maven, and we know that we aren’t the only ones. However, Alexa’s tall, svelte and generally supermodel-like frame doesn’t go down well with everyone, with many accusing her of sending out the wrong body image message to young and impressionable girls. With that in mind, it seems only fair that she has a chance to hit out at the critics and express herself, which is exactly what she’s done. “I think it’s about time people stopped judging women on their appearance and more on their intellect, like you can appreciate my style without having to appreciate my weight,” she said. “It’s not actually mutually inclusive. I just get frustrated because, just because I exist in this shape, doesn’t mean that I’m like advocating it and saying: ‘I look great.’ How do you know I’m not looking in the mirror and going: ‘I wish I could gain ten pounds?’ Which is actually quite often the case. “But if you say that you sound like you’re bragging that you’re naturally thin, and you’re not allowed to do that because even though it’s not the ideal weight, it kind of is as well.” We couldn’t agree more; hopefully this will silence the critics. Do you guys agree with her? [Vogue]

Alexa Chung rocks Chanel Resort in New York

It might not have been hot off the spring/summer 2013 runway a’ la Diane Kruger yesterday, but Alexa Chung was also one of the many celebs to step out in Chanel for the fashion House’s “Fine Jewellery” celebration the other night. Our Brit gal rocked up to the prestigious event in a gorgeous off-white embroidered dress from the Chanel Resort collection, looking feminine and innocent as she strutted her stuff on the black carpet. We’ve seen a few other ladies slip on similar dresses from the collection, but we think Alexa has mastered the exaggerated skirt detailing the best so far. She could have gone for an intricate updo or something more defined as far as her hairstyle was concerned, but we kind of like how she kept it simple. Alexa’s style is usually quirky and somewhat androgynous, so we think her personality may have been lost in an overtly feminine ensemble. Well played, Chung!

Alexa Chung is releasing her very own book next year!

Looks like Alexa Chung’s cameo appearance on Season 6 of our beloved Gossip Girl isn’t the only thing we have to look forward to next year. Our fave Brit fashionista has just revealed that she’ll be penning her very own book, and it’s set to be released in September of next year! Sure that’s quite a long way away, but hopefully we will gain some insight and even some cheeky snippets from the book before then. At the moment, details about the book are a little vague, but it will reportedly give fans an insight into Alexa’s fun, quirky and fashionable world, where she’ll spill the beans on how she decides what to wear, reveal who her fashion influences are and even dish out some style tips! We’ll keep you posted when we know more; will you be buying her book when it hits the shelves next year? [Telegraph]

Alexa Chung gets girlie in floral Anna Sui

Alexa Chung and Janelle Monae, as well as a host of some of the biggest designers, have shown us that dressing like a man has never been hotter! It’s safe to say that our Alexa nails the androgyny trend better than most, but it’s also really refreshing to see her get girlie with her sartorial choices too. We saw a hint of feminine dressing when she hit up the Gossip Girl set for her cameo in the show (still very excited about that by the way!) but this time her Anna Sui floral playsuit from the spring/summer 2012 collection was all for her and not the cameras! Even though Alexa tried something different as she cycled around New York, she still stayed true to herself by wearing her favourite black Charlotte Olympia kitty flats, which add her own personal quirky stamp to an otherwise very girlie outfit. Plus, you only need to look at Choupette Lagerfeld to see how popular kitty cats are at the moment! Do you like Alexa’s playsuit or should she stick to a more boyish way of dressing? [Image]

Alexa Chung fronts Maje’s autumn/winter 2012 ad campaign!

A cameo in Gossip Girl (which we are too freakin’ excited for words about, by the way!) isn’t the only thing Alexa Chung has going on at the moment. French brand Maje has just tapped our fashionable Brit girl to be the face of its black and white autumn/winter 2012 campaign… and we already have the images for you to glance over. Good to you, aren’t we? “Elegant yet edgy, her attitude reflects a personality that is both glamorous and rock ’n’ roll,” stated the brand. Well if edgy, glam and rock ‘n’ roll is what the brand was after, it’s definitely onto a winner by enlisting the help of Alexa. These casual, natural and almost candid-looking pics showcase her true beauty, proving just why everyone has fallen in love with her. Do you like her ad campaign? If not, don’t worry, we doubt it’ll be too long before another brand snaps her up! [WWD]

Rate or Slate Alexa Chung in Marc Jacobs, Lily Collins in Valentino Couture and Jaime King in custom Topshop?

With the biggest event in the fashion calendar going down this week, it’s no surprise then that this week’s RATE or SLATE is doing just that to some rather thought provoking Met Ball 2012 dress choices. The ever-fashion forward Alexa Chung attended this year’s Met Ball as the guest of fashion god Marc Jacobs, and wore a creation from the designer’s fall 2012 collection. (natch) Usually, we take a second glance at Alexa and then continue to stare in awe at how she has concocted up her latest look, but this time we’re not totally sure how we feel… Lily Collins’ interesting choice made for some rather exciting viewing! Opting for a fashionably romantic creation, Lily wore a sheer lace Valentino couture gown and looked every inch the red carpet queen. Although the Little House on the Prairie-inspired gown may not be every one’s first choice, it kind of worked on Lily, but we’re still deciding…. Jaime King decided to do a repeat performance of Ginnifer Goodwin’s foray into high street fashion for the red carpet at last year’s Met Ball, but we’re not entirely convinced she outshone her predecessor! It over to our Style Jury… Fashion News Ed says: Alexa Chung: ‘Anyone who reads MFL will know that we love a bit of Alexa Chung… she can do no wrong in our eyes, but this is one of the very rare occasions where something has gone a little bit awry. I love the dress, but for me, the shirt ruined it… totally not appropriate for such a prestigious event!’ Lily Collins: ‘I adore Lily Collins’ Valentino Couture! This is the standard I expect to see at the Met Gala… I love how Lily mixed it up and embraced the theme of the evening, but still opted for youthful and […]

Get the look: Alexa Chung in Miu Miu

Long-time Miu Miu fan Alexa Chung looked super-stylish at the label’s show in Paris earlier this month. Wearing a trademark heritage-girly ensemble, she looked feminine and sweet, and did an excellent job at flying the flag for us Brits in Paris. And since she’s (almost) single-handedly responsible for the resurgence of peter pan collars, it’s really no surprise that she chose to wear this white ruffled peter pan collared blouse from Miu Miu. She paired it with a cute navy check pinafore dress, also by Miu Miu, an adorable pair of black satin bow heels and a studded super-sized clutch bag by Valentino. The good news? With a bit of know how, anyone can recreate this look with ease. Here’s how: The foundation for this look is a beautifully cut ruffled blouse. This one from Moschino Cheap & Cheap might blow your budget but, you have to admit, it is rather gorgeous. Moschino Cheap & Chic lace ruffle front blouse, £450, available at my-wardrobe. Next, opt for a navy v-neck sleeveless dress to recreate Alexa’s pinafore-style look. This classic Prince of Wales check dress from Stella McCartney is the perfect shape and will prove super versatile for your wardrobe. Stella McCartney Prince of Wales check dress, £855, available at Matches. A black bow pump adds a sweet chicness to Alexa’s look – try these cute flats from Oasis as a purse-friendly option. Annabella bow ballerina pumps, £25, available at Oasis. Add to this a giant neutral-toned clutch and you’re onto a winner. This studded one from Topshop is the next best thing to Alexa’s Valentino beauty. Grey mixed stud clutch, £25, available at Topshop.
