Want to know what to buy from this week’s in-store drop? Take a little inspiration from us – every week we’ll scour the virtual rails of our favourite online haunts to bring you 10 hotter-than-hot items that style-savvy shoppers are just dying to get their hands on as they land. In this week: chunky clog boots, silk blouses, exclusive jewellery and the perfect trans-seasonal socks… 1. French Connection Seaton studded boot, £130, Kurt Geiger Fashion’s obsession with clogs shows no signs of waning as we approach autumn – they’ve just taken on a new-season twist. With a chunky wooden heel, a lace-up front and gold studding detail, French Connection’s brown Seaton clog boots are an instant wardrobe update, and have quickly made their way to the top of our autumn wish-list. 2. Spot jacquard blouse, £125, Jaeger As dressing takes a more minimalist approach, it’s time to embrace staple separates. We love Jaeger’s spot jacquard blouse – not only will its nude shade be suitable for the last remaining days of summer, its tough zip detailing will lend itself well to the new season, too. 3. Mint Lace 60’s Shift Dress, £45, Topshop A simple shift is a wardrobe essential, but the 60s vibe of this Topshop dress is right on-par with fashion’s retro-resurrection as of late. In pastel mint it provides a base for a whole host of accompanying hues, and its lace fabric is a great way to add a touch of texture to your outfit 4. Khaki over the knee socks, £4, ASOS Over the knee socks may seem a little excessive for August, but they’re the perfect trans-seasonal piece for this wayward weather. Throw them on with a dress and wedges to keep the chill at bay, knowing you can just as easily whip them off […]

Continuing our round-up of Men’s fashion week in Milan, we move on to Sunday 20th June with more highlights from the top designers. Bottega Veneta Bottega Veneta presented a chic and luxurious but extremely wearable collection, with ultra relaxed suiting in bright whites, earthy burgundies and deep blues. When jackets were double breasted they were cut slightly loose and worn with low slung, almost slouchy trousers for a chic, laid back look. The single breasted ensembles were closer fitted in shades of stone and putty, but still worn with an air of relaxed nonchalance. We also saw a great section of spring-time khakis and burnt terracottas, with rolled up shorts, open funnel neck shirts and a very short pair of deep brown leather shorts. Emporio Armani It was sleek, sexy and fierce at Emporio Armani with lots of leather, sheer panels, crocodile print and a few chains here and there too. Models wore fitted leather trousers, sometimes slashed, sometimes crocodile print, mixed with leather waistcoats, sheer shirts and beguiling eye makeup. The show had a monochrome feel, with most looks either all black, all white, or a mix of varied grey-blues. At its softest the collection showed looser tailored trousers in a two-tone bluish fabric mixed with a sheer shirting and a ultra short sleeved blazer. Closely fitted tapered cropped trousers in light tones were worn with ankle length crocodile skin pointed boots and paired with tailored waistcoats in powder and egg-shell blue. Gianfranco Ferre There was a distinct gentlemanly vibe to this resort-feel collection of broad shouldered, slightly boxy blazers in luxurious twill cottons and light pinstripes. Alongside the more classic suiting looks there were also louche touches with two-tone geometric print shorts and blazers in shades of gold and blue. The colour palette picked up on one of […]
Read MoreScrub up well with Men’s Soap and Glory
You may already be familiar with the women’s beauty range Soap and Glory – the candy pink packaging, the retro black and white images and the kitsch taglines such as ‘Sexy Mother Pucker’ lipgloss and ‘Glow Job’ moisturiser. Well guess what? There’s a men’s range too, in the form of a not so pink, not so retro, but just as kitsch, Men’s Soap and Glory. If you prefer a more of a basic approach to grooming, or you just haven’t quite got round to braving the Clinique shelves in Boots yet, Men’s Soap and Glory is a great no-frills range that does what it says on the (very explanatory) packaging. From their ‘Al Fresco’ deodorant with ‘odour armour’ to the ‘Soap’er Man’ shower gel that promises to make you ‘tingle all over’, the Soap and Glory Men’s range is packed with bold, fresh scents and all the grooming basics you’ll need. We especially like the ‘A Shave to Love’ shave gel which has, what the Soap and Glory people call, ‘lubrajel oil’ for a stress-free razor slip, conditioning Babassu oil and Bisabolol and cooling aloe, and we also quite like the very handy ‘Knock Your Spots Off’ – a spot fighting gel that literally does knock your spots off – great for the occasional killer pimple. So if you’re thinking about braving the world of grooming then get yourself some of these basics, because as the Soap and Glory gang would say it’s good to be gorgeous even if you’re a guy. Men’s Soap and Glory is available from Boots and Harvey Nichols.
Read MoreKristen Stewart in Camilla Skovgaard
Not only is Kristen Stewart going out with Robert Pattinson, but she’s also nabbed a dress from the Versace fall 2010 collection and gone and got herself a pair of shoes from one of our favourite footwear designers, Camilla Skovgaard. Could we be any more green with envy? Stewart attended a photo call in Berlin last week, to promote the latest installment in The Twilight Saga – Eclipse – with co-star Taylor Lautner. Looking fabulous in a figure-hugging mini-dress from Versace, the actress completed her edgy look with a pair of Skovgaard open-toe Button booties. We’ve long been fans of Camilla Skovgaard’s unusual, saw-like treads and these peep-toe ankle boots were the perfect choice for the Twilight star. Sexy yet cool, this outfit is Kristen Stewart all over. Definitely our favourite look from the actress thus far. You might need to wait a while before you can get your mits on that Versace dress but you can get your very own pair of Camilla Skovgaard Button booties, now: $565 from Shopbop.

I like the design twist of the exposed shirt back and the colour works really well for summery days. A great piece from the young designer making big waves across the Atlantic.” APC – “A real winner from French brand APC, this shirt will be a wardrobe staple for seasons to come. Micro gingham is a really easy way to get pattern into an outfit. Team with distressed jeans and check shirt for a great Americana look. Harley Davidson optional.” Burberry – “A real must-have in every man’s wardrobe is a Burberry Trenchcoat in classic taupe. Read MoreMy-Wardrobe press day AW2010
The showroom at the My-Wardrobe press day was jam-packed with fashion-hungry bloggers, making it one of the busiest (and therefore hottest!) autumn/winter events we’ve attended over recent weeks. It was also one of our favourites, as we got to see first-hand, some of the great pieces that the online store will be getting in next season. First up, we saw the results of the much anticipated collaboration between Barbour and Anya Hindmarch. Not only do the coats feature the cute Anya Hindmarch bow logo, which is stitched into the quilted exterior, but you’ll also find novel inside pockets designed especially for lipstick, loose change and your phone (or ‘Dog & Bone’, we should say)! As expected for the autumn/winter collections, there was a major focus on jackets and coats. We loved the military-inspired, long coat from Bllack Noir and the Burberry-esque leather aviator jacket from Nicole Fahri. Acne came up trumps too, with an unusual cropped number in a range of sumptuous and contrasting fabrics that just begged to be touched. One of the things we get excited about when viewing AW2010 collections is seeing the kind of boots that we’ll soon be fighting to get our mits on. Surprisingly enough, UGG Australia have really upped their game for next season and we were pleasantly shocked when we discovered the brand behind the clog-inspired boot, which features an on-trend, shearling fold-over panel. Never one to disappoint on the boot front, Acne impressed again with a huge, wedged platform – perfect for the rock-chic look with its striking, ‘unfinished’ zip feature and entirely leather outer. As you might have noticed from the pics of the Nicole Richie/My-Wardrobe dinner held last week, the House of Harlow 1960 collection from Nicole Richie features a range of flat, suede booties complete with beaded embellishment. Alejandro, Alejandro…..Ally-Ally-jandro, Ally-Ally-jandro…Yes, we’ve got it stuck on repeat in our heads too, damn Gaga and her catchy tunes. And damn Gaga and her epic must-see videos – her latest offering in case you haven’t heard it, is ‘Alejandro’, a tale of…well, we’re not quite sure? But it does involve a semi-naked writhing Gaga and military-esque male dancers in heels and on leashes. Pretty standard then. But Gaga is a fashion favourite and can pull in the big guns when it comes to great designers and directors. Following her last video, ‘Telephone’ which was directed by Jonas Akerlund and styled by Nicola Formichetti, Gaga’s latest video has been directed by legendary photographer and long time Madonna collaborator Steven Klein – watch closely and you might just spot the similarities… And if that’s not fashion enough for you then you’ll be pleased to know that the military uniforms worn by Gaga’s brood of dancers have been designed and produced by none other than Emporio Armani. Complete with knee high boots, red arm band and military cap they look every inch the Gaga army. We know, you secretly want a Gaga army outfit yourself don’t you? Lucky lucky you, because the special looks will indeed arrive in store at Emporio Armani next season. Time to get practising those dance moves. Ally-ally-jandro, ally-ally-jandro… Watch the video here.
Read MoreFestival special: Our practical guide to festival beauty!
The sun’s out (once every three days), bare legs are finally making an appearance and lipgloss is making a comeback – it has to mean one thing – Festival season is about to hit! Whether it be Bestival, Wireless or Glastonbury, they’re all guaranteed to include long, booze induced days, countless long-lost laughs, hundreds of cringeworthy photos and a number of grooming issues! Stinky toilets, smelly armpits, and running mascara all form part of the joy of the festival experience – but surely there is something we can do to make the experience as gruesome-free as possible? And like any well phrased question has an answer – MFL has a product (or a cupboard full of them) for every occasion! Let’s start with skin… Forget layers of foundation and multiple concealers – the real secret to being a festival hottie is not a face like a market stall – cluttered and congested, but clean, glowing skin. The extreme conditions – lots of people, a sweaty environment, galleons of alcohol, sleepless nights and constant sun exposure is going to take its toll on your face pretty quickly – so by minimalising the things on it you’re also cutting down the chance of a mass breakout mid song! So, to get that clean, glowing look – use MAC’s Strobe Cream – it’ll not only give dull skin a lift after a sleepless night, but will also make your skin brighter and tighter under the harsh glare of the sun! Don’t forget to take sunscreen – even if it does rain – you can still burn under a cloudy sky – we recommend Lancaster Sun Sport Express Mist because of its water resistance capabilities! Oh and for panda eyes – use Origins GinZing refreshing eye cream – it’ll soon reduce the puffiness and dark circles […]
Read MoreYour Top Five: Footcreams
Feet – they’re your Marmite body part – you either love them or you hate them! But, with summer slowly approaching (or a blistering hot vacation on the horizon,) the need for our feet to be fabulous is suddenly top priority. Treat your feet right with weekly pedicures, wear comfy shoes as much as possible (if you’re like us and you love your killer heels, we know how difficult this will be) and book regular physiotherapy sessions to ensure your feet are well taken care of. The Physiotherapy Northwich Foot Clinic offer sessions which we definitely recommend especially if you’re always on your feet, suffer from sports related injuries or pregnancy related back pain. Lastly, show your feet some tender loving care, with the best foot creams on offer. Here at MFL we’ve subjected our tootsies to disgusting smells, tingling sensations and even a treatment made out of bulls sperm, to bring you the foot creams that we truly believe will give you fab-tastic, flip-flop-able feet this season! The first of these is Origins ReInventing the Heel – designed to leave heels as soft as a baby’s bottom, this cream leaves both your hands (from applying it) and feet smelling distinctly of peppermint! Because you’re supposed to leave it on over night, the cream itself is a little bit greasy, but eel-like feet are well worth the sensation, because morning results are feet-tastic!! Boots own brand Botanics is always a winner for me – natural ingredients, plant extracts and budget-friendly, their Foot Butter is another notch on my bed post! Although it doesn’t have the same mouth-watering smell as the Origins one, it’s not as greasy and because it’s quite thick – a little goes a long long way – making it last twice as long and hitting your pocket, just […]
Read MoreChloe press day AW2010
We were just a tad excited to be invited to the AW2010 Chloe press day and were even more so when we arrived and got to sneak a peek at the (drum roll please…) Darla shoulder bag – the most recent addition to the Chloe family. Pictured above and just below, the Darla nods to a 60s aesthetic, with a refined and elegant style that captures the feel of Mulberry’s Bayswater or Hermes’ Birkin. Available in a broad colour palette and a range of luxurious fabrics including box and nubuck calfskin, the chic Darla is sure to be the go-to bag for stylish women on the go. While the ‘it bag’ may be seen as a thing of the past, the traditional-looking Darla looks to be stepping in, affirming itself as the new bag to take notice of. The terracotta and deep purple versions were our top picks for the coming season, while the calfskin (treated like leopard print pony skin) goes for ultimate luxury that begs to be touched – and is perhaps more of an acquired taste. The popular Sally style has also made a welcome return in the same fabric as the Darla, offering an evening bag alternative to its travel-inspired sibling. Whilst the Chloe bags ultimately stole the show, most of the presentation was actually reserved for the fashion house’s youthful, secondary line: See by Chloe. With shoes, bags and a selection of clothing on show, we were especially excited to see that the younger brand has kept hold of that fun yet feminine personality throughout the entire collection. With sleek, heeled chelsea boots, over-the-knee suede boots and wooden wedge slingbacks forming a portion of the shoe collection, See by Chloe look to be acknowledging the trends of recent seasons (and even spring/summer 2010 with those […]

Matches very own version of the spring summer sale – ‘Style Steals’ – is now open, and we have already been rooting through the e-rails and finding our most wanted pieces. And there really are some great bargains to be had if you get in there quick. Apart from the heavily discounted clothes we also love the fact that the name makes it sound like something far more exciting than a sale, as in, ‘Oh this old thing? Oh this is a Matches Style Steal don’t you know.’ Sales are so last year… But the best part about it is the fact that there’s up to 80% off selected items including pieces from Aquascutum, Jil Sander and Maison Martin Margiela. Our personal favourite are these suede boots from Raparo which are now an affordable £124.00 reduced from £248.00 – a very pleasing 50% saving. Pair with casual denim for a luxe touch and mix in spring separates a fresh look. Raparo Suede Chelsea Boots available now from Matches Style Steals– but be quick as it ends on 24th May.

In an attempt to look better, feel better and be better, we’ve gone through all latest beauty products – to bring you the crème de la crème – more simply put, the ones actually worth spending money on! Philip’s Lumea is the answer to the irritating habit we call shaving and the pain of waxing. Exclusive to Boots, it’s the d-i-y way to instant laser treatment!! Whilst quite pricey at £400 – it’s a sure way to say goodbye to unwanted hair – forever!! It uses IPL technology to kill the root of the hair and whilst this sounds painful – it’s not. Think of it as a static shock that’s going to leave you silky smooth (after 4 treatments) forever!! This second product is by far my favourite – diamonds may be a girl’s best friend – but 22 carat gold in your lip gloss is whole new playing field! Fearne does the laid-back cool look by matching her Barbour with skinny blue jeans and tan lace-up boots – perfect for running around town doing that all-important shopping. Read MoreMFL Lustlist: The Products or indeed hairstyles, we just have to have this month
It may not be Christmas and since hair doesn’t have its own day of birth in our calendar, I’ve decided that nevertheless it still deserves it’s own lust list – perhaps if it feels loved enough the next month won’t be plagued by the repeated bad hair days that April showers will no doubt bring with it! I figure, presents (or at least the promise of them) will equal co-operation on my hair’s part! So… what does my hair lust? 1. At the top of the list has to be the oldest styling tool in the world – a hair brush, but not the pound store one I’ve been using! No, it has to be Denman nylon bristle grooming brush – a brush like this gently massages the knots out of your hair instead of pulling your locks to shreds and making it fall out in clumps! Buy it at silkperfect.com 4. Glossy smooth hair needs something pretty to go in it! This season, the must have hair piece is the bow. Headbands, hairclips, slides or ties, wherever, however, it doesn’t matter as long as there’s a bow and it’s in your hair!!! Shop bow hair pieces just like Lady Gaga’s at www.asos.com 5. Batiste dry shampoo has to make an appearance on this list! Grease is supposed to be good for your locks – but it just doesn’t look so great! So for those brush-and-go days, my hair sure as hell still deserves to be looking awesome! Buy it at Boots, Superdrug or www.batistedryshampoo.co.uk 6. If I were my hair, I would crave the days away from the heat of straightners and hair driers, but naturally my waves are more like the frizz on a untamed lion’s mane. So another to add to the lust list is Matrix Design Pulse Loosely Defined Texture Crème. […]

Read MoreTK Maxx styling challenge
We like to think of ourselves as somewhat style-savvy here at My Fashion Life, so when our friends at TK Maxx asked us to take part in a styling challenge, rise we did. So here’s the deal: TK Maxx give us one dress from their spring collection which we then style in three different ways for three very different scenarios. Easy, non? Well, we’ll let you be the judge of that. The dress in question is this cute floral tea dress, £16.99 (pictured) – admittedly not the easiest dress to style, with its fussy neckline and hip sash detail, but it’s pretty nonetheless (though truth be told, we prefer some of the dresses dealt out to the other bloggers involved). And actually, that’s what makes this challenge a little tricky, because you guys have to vote for your favourite look. But anyway, that’s quite enough of an introduction for one day, so let’s get to the nitty gritty: behold below our final looks. Look one – meeting the boyfriend’s parents: Accessories: cropped denim jacket – Topshop, £40; Miu Miu nude canvas tote – Net-a-Porter, £750; black wedge clogs – Topshop, £50; Mac Tinted Lipgloss in Ember Glow – Mac, £12. On a day which injects fear into the toughest girls’ hearts, being comfortable is key to surviving ’til tea-time; scrap those five-inch heels, save on sparkles and sequins, and scrape off the excess makeup – we’re going for grown-up cute, here. Keep things simple and up-to-date with a cropped denim jacket and a nude canvas bag: both say relaxed without being scruffy. To inject a real style statement, opt for these black suede clog wedges – not only are they bang on trend, they’re practical, too, and add a little edge to offset the sweetness. A slick of tinted gloss […]

When Nicole Ritchie launched her Winter Kate collection our attentions were a little diverted from her first fashion line, House of Harlow 1960. Read MoreRadley AW2010 press day
When we headed down to Radley to view their autumn/winter collection recently, we fell head over heels for the handbag range, which is also going into its second season of footwear. Classic Radley styles have been updated in sumptuous autumnal shades of burnt orange, mauve and olive green and exciting details were added for aesthetic purposes as much as practicality. Inspired largely by 1920s Bloomsbury, their next collection features some beautiful tweed offerings, evoking that British charm that is found in all of Radley’s hand-crafted designs and the range even includes a couple of shiny clutches in black and purple, marking their first season of patent bags. Our favourite of the lot – aside from the large olive-green and tweed number – was definitely the oversized clutch in tan, featuring a central embossed symbol, which looked to be a real departure for Radley. Whilst Radley have experimented with new fabrics and introduced designs such as the brogue-detailed handbag and purses (a nice touch, perhaps influenced by the recent addition of footwear to the label), we are definitely seeing less of the classic, Radley pooch across designs. He’s still there of course, representing the brand, but he is notably smaller and less on show and as much as we love the little pup, we have to admit that this is a move we definitely approve of. Radley’s across body pocket bag continues to be one of their best sellers due to its practicality and since the brand are committed to updating classics rather than changing them, we can expect to see slight alterations come autumn/winter, with an added popper fastening attached to the pocket bag’s feature front compartment. On show as well were the popular non-leather items and umbrella’s bringing a sense of fun to the collection, with eye-popping colour and […]

Spring has finally sprung – cor we’ve heard that a lot lately, but last week we did notice the sun’s effort to shine– which means the hunt for our summer wardrobe has well and truly begun. So when we received an invite from ASOS to their Access All Areas event, which promised to flaunt the finest spring frippery we ever did see (and give us the chance to try it) we jumped for joy. With the high summer collection lining the walls, we rummaged through rails of nude chiffons, tribal prints bold and blurred, sequin-embellished dresses, luxe sportswear and maxi dresses, and oohed and ahhed over an assortment of statement accessories and possibly the most fashionable footwear we’ve yet to lay eyes on this season (we’re talking lace-up shoeboots, wooden stack heels, tan suede peeptoes fit for a rodeo queen and all that drool-worthy jazz). Actually, looking back at the over-size woven leather clutches, bucket bags and fab fringed satchels, we’d go as far as saying the accessories stole the show. Anyway back to our story. Have we got to the part about the canapes yet? We ate lots of those, yummy things they were, and we also supped too much champers. But back to business. So as we fought our way to our favourite pieces – a pair of tailored black suede shorts (sadly not in our size), a cropped holepunched soft sweater and a nude contrast-panel chiffon zip-back top alongside a maxidress or two, FYI – we grabbed what we loved (or what fitted) and headed for a photoshoot via a quick-fix makeover from Illamasqua and hairstylist Han (big hair guru). Yes yes yes we know […]

The (admittedly few) sunny days we’ve had this week have really got us looking forward to warmer months and since we’ve already given our current wardrobe a good old spring clean, we like to think that we deserve a bit of seasonal indulgence. In an early attempt to create our spring wish list, we’ve compiled some of our favourite pieces for the coming season. If we’re honest, there were a lot more than 20 but we’ve managed to narrow down our options to some key items. What are your thoughts? Let us know the items you’re after this spring! Camilla Skovgaard mules For those that aren’t too keen on the idea of clogs for spring, why not invest in a pair of mules. This pair come courtesy of one of our favourite shoe designers of the moment. £280 from Net-a-Porter. AG Adriano Goldschmied boyfriend jeans You can never go wrong with a pair of boyfriend jeans. Have a little fun with the trend by mixing bold prints with this daring bralet from Topshop. £20 from Topshop. Mulberry Alexa Ah, the Mulberry Alexa. Read MoreSJP in Gerard Darel
No wonder SJP looks so happy – whilst taking a leisurely stroll with her picture-perfect son, she’s only decked out head-to-toe in fashionistas’ fave, Gerard Darel. Keeping warm in a fur trimmed winter coat and staying chic with suede ankle boots, we can see why Sarah Jessica Parker is so taken with the Parisian designer’s offerings. In particular we happen to love those suede boots and we can see them taking us right through to Spring, paired with tights, skinnies and eventually our more girly skirts and dresses. The classic style ankle boot comes in beige and black and the heel height perfectly combines practicality with style. And to be honest, if they’re good enough for Sarah Jessica, they’re good enough for us! You can get your hands on a pair exactly the same, from online retailer

Read MoreFive minutes with Fearne Cotton
TV presenter, Radio One DJ, style icon and, now, designer: Fearne Cotton has been successfully designing collections for Very.co.uk for several seasons, but now she’s venturing onto new design turf. Ms. Cotton’s designing her very own range of Converse for the aforementioned online shopping destination, and naturally, we caught up with the British beauty to chat about her latest challenge and her foray into fashion. You obviously have a great working relationship with Very.co.uk , you’ve designed several collections with them now. How did this collaboration come about in the first place? Doing this has always been a dream of mine, as it is most girls. I have an art background , I did an art course so I’ve always been doodling clothes and my ideas. I really wanted to do something with conviction , I don’t just want to have my name or face to it , so I started with Very about one and a half years ago, got a sense for it and just decided to go for it. I really get a lot of involvement so it’s been a great platform. What is it about the Very brand that appeals to you? I love online shopping. I love not having to leave my home. And also I have the freedom to do what I want with my own collection. I have a huge say in what I do , it’s a great place to be creative and it’s great quality, too. Let’s talk about the new line of Converse you’ve designed for Very. Whose idea was it? Did Converse approach you to do it or was it something you’d long suggested? The Converse guys know I love Converse and have been wearing them for years so they approached me to design my own, and obviously I […]
Read MoreCandy cane anyone?
“I’ll take you to the candy shop…I’ll let you lick the lollipop… no, not 50 Cent’s candy shop, DKNY’s! With their new fragrances DKNY literally want you to step into their candy shop, taking you back to a time where pick ‘n’ mix sat next to toffee apples at fair grounds! The catch? You don’t actually get the sticky toffee apple, fizzy cola bottles, dummy rings or marshmallows. You just get to smell them. So in a mini egg shell (Cadbury’s , it’s nearly Easter time , have you noticed?) DKNY are releasing another apple shaped fragrance, but this time the fruit is given a sweet tooth and the smell is infused with notes of candy. Delicious? Certainly, but it left me wishing Woolworths and their pick ‘n’ mix stands still stood on every corner! The smell is fun and flirty, and defo a scent for the young. Available nationwide at Boots from 17th March, DKNY Candy Apples are £30 and come in three flavours. My favourite? Juicy Berry. It’s not because purple’s my favourite colour. Promise!

So it’s not quite Spring yet, and while we’re desperate to start wearing our new season buys , all fresh colours and light fabrics , the practicality of it means we’re still in sweaters and snoods. There is light at the end of the tunnel however, in the form of the perforated shoe boot. Cut-out style shoes were big on the catwalk last season and they’re proving popular again this spring. The shoe-boot continues to prove itself as footwear friend and combined with pretty perforated detailing they’re perfect for those occasions when your tootsies want to see a bit of light without being prematurely exposed. These oli.co.uk, and even better they’re almost a perfect match for the Jimmy Choo beauties we wish we could buy.

What’s this? An Ashish item without sequins? That’s right, the latest Ashish/Topshop collaboration features a sportswear range adorned in punk-like studs and to be honest, we’re welcoming this break from their shiny, sequined norm. Our favourite piece is the long t-shirt, which can be worn over leggings and teamed with ankle boots for a simple, daytime look. Keep your outfit simple in black, adhering to that punk feel whilst drawing attention to the studded neckline. Watch you don’t take someone out with one of these spikes though – you might be best keeping a distance while you’ve got this on… $100 from Topshop

Read MoreRachel McAdams in Alberta Ferretti
We have a confession to make: we have a new red carpet crush, and her name is Rachel McAdams. Channeling the understated elegance of Hollywood screen siren Lauren Bacall, Rachel wore a gorgeous vintage inspired outfit at the Sherlock Holmes Premier in Berlin this week. Wearing an Alberti Ferretti floor length gown Rachel wowed on-lookers as she appeared every inch the old-school icon with perfect poise and side-parted set and wave curls. The asymmetric dress from Alberta Ferretti’s fall 09 collection gives her look a contemporary feel and the teal colour of the gown looks particularly stunning against Rachel’s simple makeup and classic red lips. While there might not be much out there to rival the exquisite design of her Alberta Ferretti dress, you can always achieve Rachel’s retro look with carefully styled hair and makeup. Rachel’s red lips are the key to her screen-siren appeal and the best choice to achieve a similar look is Chanel Rouge allure lipstick in classic red ‘Lover’. Packed with shea butter and oils this intense lipstick will give your look an instant colour hit as well as keeping your pout moisturized. Keep the rest of the face simple with matte skin and just a coat of mascara to finish and you may well rival the Hollywood icon yourself. Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick, £21.97 available from Boots.
