Special occasion hair: Wedding days

From the second her man gets down on one knee, a billion things can rush through a future brides brain – the size of the diamond on her finger will typically take priority right now… but the way she’ll wear her hair on the big day is probably going to cross her mind in the months to come. With the 2013 winter wedding season getting to in full swing, a bride’s barnet could easily make or break her party mood. Never fear, we’re going to guide you through some of the most popular, most modern, and some of the simplest styles you could be rocking on your big day. The chic and sophisticated chignon has been pretty popular since almost the beginning of time. The swept back style can be traced back to the Ancient Greeks no less, and was also worn by men. Not sure about letting hubby walk the aisle with his hair pinned down to the nape of his neck, but a lot can be said for metro-sexuality nowadays. Either way, whichever member of the bridal party chooses a chignon will definitely be the classiest broad at the ball. There’s a lot to be said for plaits and braids at the moment. Not only are they great fun, but fishtail and herringbone styles represent the catwalks of recent seasons. They make a great statement for any fashion-forward lady on her wedding day and provide interest whether they’re the basis of a style or merely incorporated in to the overall look. Try decorating your plaits with the flowers that feature in your bouquet and just wait for gasps of delight from the guests. Talking of decorating, hair accessories are all the rage right now. Alice bands have been knocking around on bride’s heads for a few years now, […]

Jennifer Hudson wears Stella McCartney at her Hollywood Walk of Fame star

Jennifer Hudson is the latest celeb to prove that less is more and simplicity really is key. The Oscar-winner was deservedly awarded with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and pulled out all the sartorial stops during the unveiling ceremony. Jennifer looked chic and beautiful in a white python jacquard Stella McCartney Resort 2014 dress, which she acessorised with matching white heels and some subtle but sparkly accessories. Pure perfection! Charlize Theron wore the same dress last month while attending the Variety 5th Annual Power of Women event, proving that two ladies can rock the same dress in totally different ways. However, despite some differences, both Charlize and Jennifer are united with their totally on-trend pixie cuts, which we think is the perfect hairstyle for a draped dress like this. As much as we love Victoria’s Secret style beach waves, we think they’d tamper with the fluidity and silhouette of the dress, so styling brownie points all round!

5 important things to consider when planning your big day….

He’s popped the question in a dream proposal; you’ve talked for hours on end about how it’ll be the perfect day and, you’ve probably kicked off a rigorous boot camp training regime to get the perfect body for beach parading on your honeymoon, right? Well, now that the important things have been tackled, it’s time to get down to the real business of planning your big day to perfection. Haven’t the slightest about where to start? Here’s a helping hand: Venue Always dreamed of a grand bash in an ancient mansion, tucked away in some idyllic countryside spot? Or are you one for low-key, intimate affairs with close family and friends? Picking a venue is, although, mainly budget-led, its important that it reflects your personality as a couple, realising the aspirations you’ve always held for your big day. Break down your wedding fund and get serious about how much you’re prepared to splash out on a venue – it’s probably going to the biggest expense on your wedding shopping list. Wedding dress Ah, yes, maybe not the most expensive, but definitely the BIGGEST worry on any woman’s wedding to-get list! Want a all-out meringue-esque Kim Kardashian look, or are you a vintage gal à la Millie Mackintosh, who wore a gorgeous gown by Alice Temperley for her big day? It’s not a decision to be taken lightly, so sit down with your girlfriends, pop out the sketchbook out and get drawing your dream dress! Wedding Insurance As much you want your big day to go smoothly, mishaps can occur and, sometimes, factors beyond your control can take over. Make sure you’re covered against unavoidable heartbreak, such as a postponed ceremony due to illness or otherwise, or a venue unexpectedly shutting down before your wedding date, with wedding insurance. New York Fashion Week is still going strong – yesterday the likes of Donna Karan, Carolina Herrera, Tommy Hilfiger, 3.1 Philip Lim and Ralph Rucci all presented their spring/summer 2014 offerings… and here are some highlights: It was all very elegant at Carolina Herrera; Karlie Kloss’s opening white shirt and flowing skirt look set the standard for the rest of the sharp and chic collection which comprises of powerful dresses, silk swimwear, and lots of spaghetti straps to boot. From New York City to India in a few short minutes – Donna Karan’s sun-kissed models presented her luxury hippie spring/summer 2014 collection – a theme which was reportedly inspired by one of her recent trips to India – which just proves that she is able to spread her designer wings and escape the Big Apple if and when she warts to. It was definitely all about the tobacco and navy! Tommy Hilfiger presented a bright, colourful and effortless “when Malibu meets New York” collection which was evident from the very first look  – and the California Girls and Californication songs that the models walked down the runway too probably helped get people out of New York and onto a sandy beach! Lunchtime Buy: Missoni Mare crochet knit tunic

Gosh, that signature Missoni print never gets old, does it? It doesn’t look like we will ever get enough of the Italian label’s attention-commanding stripes, which is why we were drawn to this Missoni crochet knit tunic like a moth to a flame. We know how long it takes us girls to get beach-ready. Saving up for the perfect bikini, working our proverbials off in the gym, and getting all the rights parts shaved and waxed… it’s a nightmare. But so is having nothing to wear when you get out the sea and want to walk to the bar to top up your cocktail. You don’t want to get back into the denim shorts you wore when you arrived. For a start you’re too wet for them, and they’re probably all covered in sand. Plus wriggling into denim cut-offs isn’t an attractive sight. Trust us, we learnt the hard way. So, to cut a long story and painful beach memory short, a fun, beach cover-up will truly save the day. And they don’t come more stunning than this Missoni crochet knit tunic. It does the job – and then some! Missoni crochet knit tunic, £490, My Theresa

“I have one of the best jobs in the world” – Solange Knowles, The Edit

Net-a-Porter’s The Edit is up there with the best of them when it comes to creating powerful covers. The latest issue features none other than Solange Knowles on the cover, and to say it’s breathtaking would be a complete understatement. Looking like a dead ringer for her older sister Beyonce, Solange – complete with a very lengthy barnet – poses pretty on the beach showing off her figure and the newest beach threads. We particularly love the royal blue maxi J Crew dress she is rocking on the front cover! The 27-year-old singer and style maven opened up to the mag about her latest projects, her music sound, and collaborating with big sis Bey… “I don’t think any part of myself as an artist has ever had a moment of intention execution,” she began. “It’s all just been an evolution. I’ve been able to watch such an incredible performer as my sister close-up. It’s molded me. And now I’m letting my son watch me. “I’m having the time of my life. I have one of the best jobs in the world, and to be able to [perform] for an hour a day and make a career out of it, I’m incredibly humbled by it.” Click here to read more from her interview, see more pics, and of course, find out where to shop the pieces in the editorial shoot.

Kate Upton lands David Yurman AW13 ad campaign

David Yurman went classic for its autumn/winter 2012 ad campaign. There’s no better word to describe the campaign star Gisele Bundchen. But fast forward one year and the concept couldn’t be more different. The newest autumn/winter 2013 ad campaign is out with the old and in with the new, as Gisele has been replaced by Kate Upton, the girl who is having a serious fashion moment this year! The former Sports Illustrated model was photographed by Peter Lindbergh, and can be seen writhing on a beach showcasing the stunning new-season jewellery that’s sitting pretty on her wrists. The second image is a lot more stripped back – but no less gorgeous. We knew the ad campaign offers would start rolling in as soon as she got Anna Wintour’s coveted seal of approval. We wonder what Kate’s next move will be… any guesses?

Paris Hilton vs. Miranda Kerr…Who wore Topshop better?

Championing the humble high street this week are two ladies more accustomed to the high end world. Super-stunner, Miranda Kerr, and scene –stealing (in many ways) socialite Paris Hilton both stepped out in the same printed Topshop  maxi skirt, and we couldn’t resist a fash-off! Totally digging every high street hit we can land our peepers on, let’s begin with Miranda – the queen of all things dressed down and cool. OK, so she may be on par with Jessica Alba when it comes to a stellar off-duty wardrobe, but we can safely say we can’t stop ogling Mrs. Bloom’s radiant complexion and off-runway style antics. Nothing short of perfect with every relaxed ensemble, Miranda pulled this maxi-vest dress look off with aplomb, as she styles it with a simple, halter-neck style black vest, flat T-bar sandals and her beloved Givenchy Antigona tote. Face-framing sunnies and flowing glossy locks, not to mention an adorable toddler, polished off the look with perfection. Stepping out in the same skirt, Paris Hilton took to the sandy beaches of Malibu on the very same day! A sucker for girly style, Ms. Hilton opted to pair the budget skirt, which features a leg-flashing side split, with a deep v-neck, cut-out detail bodycon top (which we assume is a swimsuit). Paris finished off her look by accessorising with oversized sunnies, flat pumps and a beach tote. So, whose look is a firm winner? Well, both ladies put their individual style stamps on the high street skirt, but we’re sticking with Aussie beauty Miranda on this one! By adding black to the mix, Miranda has toughened up the whimsy feel of the skirt, whilst Paris’s look appears a little ‘all over the place.’ Do you agree with our fash-off verdict?

Laura Whitmore does casual cool in white Gerard Darel

Scarlett Johansson is summer personified in Versace at Comic Con

Is there a more appropriate frock to wear/look at on a gloriously sunny day like today? The hottest day of the year if we are to believe the weather reports. Short answer: no! All eyes were on Scarlett Johansson at Comic Con on Saturday, as the actress was summer personified in a gorgeous multi-coloured floral dress that came from the Versace Resort 2014 collection. She got the sexy, attention-grabbing and demure balance just right, which just goes to show that you don’t need barely-there hemlines and dangerously low necklines to ooze confidence, glamour and sex appeal. Scar-Jo let her dress do all the talking on this occasion, as she kept accessories to a minimum, and just opted to add some drama by way of some bold eye make-up and those enviable, honey-hued soft waves in her hair. Beach babe meets floral Princess!

Miley Cyrus covers up in chic Stella McCartney at London’s Heathrow Airport

We bet Miley Cyrus didn’t bank on the weather being so Los Angeles-like when she packed her suitcase, as we have a feeling she would have stuck to her classic hardly-there-shorts and barely-bosom-covering cropped tops. We are quite glad she didn’t realise how hot the weather in our Capital would be though, as we fear we ay have missed out on seeing her rock this gorgeous Stella McCartney jumpsuit. The former Hannah Montana star accessorised her high-end look with Chanel trainers, a Chanel backpack and Celine sunnies. She was seen at Heathrow Airport with the current issue of fashion Bible British Vogue firmly in her grasp – and this look is definitive proof that she has been brushing up on her fashion knowledge. Miley will probably go back to her dressing-for-the-beach ways as soon as she touches down on American soil, but its always nice to see her do the chic, covered up thing too. Do you like Miley’s grown-up Stella McCartney look? [Image]

Gianni Versace’s mansion goes under the hammer

We bet you’ve heard the phrase “it’s not a buyer’s market” being tossed around a lot during this pesky recession, but we know of one house that is sure to get a lot of attention and sell for a bucket-load of money. And that house, or should we say mansion, was the one that belonged to Gianni Versace. The very same one was tragically shot in back in 1997. Would that much history put you off buying a house or would it help seal the deal for you? The 23,000-square-foot mansion, now known as Casa Casuarina, is located on Ocean Drive on Miami Beach, and will go under the hammer on September 17th. Although Gianni Versace reportedly spent $33 million renovating it, the initial asking price is now $25 million. The mansion was built in 1930, has 10 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, and was most recently used as a 10-bedroom boutique hotel which only closed its doors earlier this year. We wonder which lucky (and very well-off) person will become the new owner of a fashion legend’s house… [Telegraph] [Image]

UK’s Lucy Mecklenburgh beats Rihanna to “best bikini body” title

As it’s the hottest day of the year so far here in Blighty, the subject of bikinis is actually somewhat refreshing. (We know we’re not actually sitting on a beach in aforementioned bikini, but the subject makes sitting in a warm office slightly more bearable. Don’t ask us why!) The results of a “best bikini body” poll have just been released, and we are as shocked as we are proud to learn that a UK face was chosen – and that face is none other than TOWIE regular Lucy Mecklenburgh. The beautiful brunette beat off stiff competition from the likes of Rihanna, Khloe Kardashian, Beyonce and Jessica Alba who came second, third, and joint fourth respectively. Do you agree with the results? So, even though Lucy doesn’t get as much practice in a bikini as the rest of the other girls do, she still managed to reign supreme in the poll. You go, girl! If you don’t have the confidence to rock a bikini this summer, why don’t you go for some tummy flattering swimsuits instead? They’re just as gorgeous as a regular two-piece in our opinion! What age do British women feel the most confident in a bikini? Surprising results…

Want something relatively shocking to digest this Monday morning? TK Maxx wanted to find out what age women felt the more comfortable and confident in a bikini… and we know we won’t be the only ones to find the results of the survey surprising! Apparently six in 10 British women felt the most comfortable in a two-piece bikini at the age of, wait for it, 59. That’s definitely not a typo. 59. FIFTY NINE! One more than 58. One less than 60. We don’t know how else to put it. Are you as shocked as we are? Only one in five 18-34 year olds said they felt good in their skimpy summer clothes, while a third of the 2000 British women surveyed said their confidence grew with age, which is actually something we can understand. Just look at Dame Helen Mirren or Meryl Streep floating down the red carpets with the utmost confidence for proof! We guess the moral of the story is: don’t fret about getting older. Sure we may have a few more wrinkles than we do now, but we have beach body confidence to look forward to, which is definitely something we don’t all have right now. Are you surprised about the results of the survey? [The Gloss] [Image]

Pea-sized prodigies: Meet the 5-year-old Scott Disick

OK. We’re pretty much speechless. Dumbfounded. Beyond words. Because we’ve just witnessed a miniature reincarnation of, maybe, Lord Disick, Justin Bieber and Danny O’Donoghue all rolled into one adorable and well-clothed 5-year-old. Meet social media sensation, Alonso Mateo, the kid-poser from Laguna Beach, who’s effortlessly making waves in the oversubscribed world of Instagram. Executing painstakingly put together looks with the ease of a seasoned Brad Kroenig, Alonso name checks brands including Acne, Jeremy Scott, Dolce & Gabbana and All Saints in his personal walk-in wardrobe (yes, walk-in!). Alonso acquired quite the global fashion following (127,000 followers on Instagram, and counting), after his freelance stylist mother started posting pictures of her son’s looks on the popular social media site. The child style star, who’s giving a bunch of A-list tots a run for their (parents’) money, often picks out his own looks, and poses with such professionalism, you’d think he was a wash cycle shrunken entity from a Testino shoot. But in this environment of over sharing, and with some of the disturbing precedence before a story like this (remember our rant about 10-year-old child model Thylane?), we’re still trying to figure out – after cooing and awwing over Alonso’s shockingly impressive camera credentials – how we feel about this mini man. Although that term in itself is a little disturbing, are the pictures really doing any harm? Expectedly, the account on which his mother posts images has been subject to a tirade of criticism, and sadly, abuse from Nation Selfie, with several users branding the family materialistic and the 5-year-old a ‘spoiled douche’. But come to think of it: which parent doesn’t like to dress their child well if they can afford to? Let’s consider this in the context of fashion editorials. Exploitative on a wide scale, the case of Thyalane […]

Julien Macdonald x Melissa Odabash debut Resort 2014 collection in London

Last night we headed to London’s swanky ME Hotel Radio Rooftop Bar (which is stylishly situated opposite our go-to London Fashion Week destination, Somerset House) to witness the second Julien Macdonald x Melissa Odabash swimwear and beachwear collection make its gorgeous runway debut. The Saturdays’ Mollie King, Made in Chelsea’s Rosie Fortescue, singer (and Amy Winehouse’s goddaughter) Dionne Bromfield, and model/TV presenter Zara Martin were a few of the famous faces who joined the models on the catwalk, which just goes to show that Julien and Melissa’s collection (does using first names make it sound like we are bosom buddies? We aren’t (just yet) but it makes us feel good!) collection really is for everyone. Stunning Grecian inspired long dresses/cover-ups were juxtaposed with short, sexy dresses perfect for a beach party, along with essential summer-ready swimsuits and bikinis that made us want to swear off chocolate for good. The sexy bold green maxi and the embellished white cut-out swimsuit are among our favourites; what about you guys? [Images c/o Julien Macdonald x Melissa Odabash Resort 2014]

Miranda Kerr goes bikini babe for The Edit, talks Victoria’s Secret departure and Orlando Bloom

Who better to front a swimwear magazine issue than a sexy Aussie with a perma-golden-glow and an enviable beach body? That’s right, Miranda Kerr has been chosen to front The Edit’s Swimwear edition, proving that there is indeed life after Victoria’s Secret! Miranda’s rocking a host of gorgeous swimwear on the cover and editorial pages, including a twisted Shimmi bikini (below), and Zimmermann and Mara Hoffman swimsuits, among others. And as well as making all red-blooded males drool and making girls green with envy over her flawless bikini bod, she also opens up about her recent Victoria’s Secret departure, her marriage to Orlando Bloom, the paps, and even her appearance on The Bling Ring (which is based on her true experience). “Ed Razek (Victoria’s Secret casting agent) and I are really good friends and we both decided it was impractical for me to continue,” she said. “I have such fond memories of working with them.” Aw, a very diplomatic answer. And what did she have to say about her marriage to Hollywood heartthrob Orlando Bloom? “I am quite dominant in my career, so what really works for me when I come home, is to relax more into the feminine side,” she continued. “If you’re really an alpha female, you don’t allow your partner to have the space to feel like the man in the relationship. “Maybe I am too traditional, but men feel important when you ask for their help, instead of thinking you can do it all on your own.” Fine marital advice from Miranda Kerr, right there. Head to Net-a-Porter’s The Edit right now to check out more interview snippets, see more pictures, and snap up the clothes Miranda is wearing on her shoot.

Going to Ibiza for your hols? Here are 5 picks for your suitcase

Off to Ibiza this summer? The excitement might make you a teeny bit forgetful (we know we forget important things when we’re a little bit giddy) so we’ve compiled a list of Ibiza essentials for you to check off as you pack. As well as your obvious items, i.e. passport, sun cream, sun hat, camera, beach towel etc, here are five items we definitely don’t think you should board the plane without: 1. – Bright clothes aren’t always advised for the gloomy London weather (and standing out isn’t always desired when you’re minding you own business on the tube), but the rules totally change when it comes to your holiday! Go colour crazy in this maxi! Misumi multicoloured maxi dress, £19.99 2. – We know you’ve been waiting for months and months to slip into a new bikini, so we have a feeling it will be one of the first things you pack. We love this studded beauty from Topshop – it’ll make you stand out on a crowded beach, and also offset your tan beautifully. Topshop lime studded triangle bikini, £28. 3. – As much as we love a good pair of heels, we think summer holidays should be about giving your feet a rest along with the rest of your body, so taking a good pair of flats with you is vital. One of the hottest hairstyles is a low slung pony; it’s laid back, it’s simple and you can make it ultra glossy with some finishing serum. Everyone from Dior to Chloé has been featuring this trend but if you want to try something different, simply plait it into a fishtail for a unique style. Poker straight Super straight locks are back and better than ever. All the SS13 catwalks featured poker straight hair including Derek Lam and Lacoste (as pictured above) but make sure you use a good heat defence spray. Shakira opens up about her hubby Gerard Pique, as well as what her new role as a mother is like. A great read! “I’m still trying to figure it out,” she said about motherhood. “And I have a feeling I will try to do the same for the rest of my life. Some people put it like it’s very idyllic, some people put it like it’s a torturing experience, but it’s not quite one thing or the other. It’s like life – it comes with everything.” Click here to read more of Shakira’s wise words and peek at more perfect pics.

5 of the best cut out swimsuits!

We all love a good two-piece bikini, but whoever said swimsuits weren’t sexy clearly never saw an episode of Baywatch. Pamela Anderson running in slow mo down the sandy beach in her red swimming cozzie was the catalyst for men’s steamy fantasies, but swimsuits have evolved since then. They’ve got sexier! They have more prints, more colours, and yep, they even show more skin; eat your heart out Pammie! Provided you’re not planning on sitting on a beach in the Med and the swimsuit is purely for a 5* hotel Jacuzzi (no one wants dodgy tan lines!) cut out swimsuits are the way to go! Here are five of our ultimate faves: 1. For the rock chick swimmer who loves her some embellishment! Or for the body conscious fashionista – not only is this swimsuit slimming but it only has very small, subtle cutout detailing. A nod to the trend without going overboard! Black and gold stud cut out side swimsuit, £22.99, New Look 2. Stripes never go out of style, and we don’t think this swimsuit will either. Nautical but nice – Jean Paul Gaultier will be thrilled you’re embracing his favourite pattern! Sun and Sea cut out swimsuit, £46, French Connection 3. It may be plain but this swimsuit is far from boring. This colour offsets a tan beautifully – perfect to wear at the end of your summer holiday when you’re relaxing in the Jacuzzi with a cocktail in your hand. By Caprice Cotton Candy monokini, £36, Figleaves 4. Beautiful bandeau bikini top and luscious leopard print bottom, you’ll be the belle of the ball beach in this sexy creation. Aguaclara Camino Inka cut out swimsuit, £142, Figleaves 5. You can always rely on Roberto Cavalli to pull an attention-grabbing swimsuit out the bag. Do you go for a conventional […]

Sick of spray-on skinnies, and want to slip into something a little looser for summer? The printed wide-leg has returned to fashion’s front line, and our inner 70s boho girl is squealing with sartorial delight! However, wide-leg trousers can be a slippery style slide: too wide, and you risk face planting the floor, not wide enough and it looks like you’re wearing awkward-fitting culottes. But the wide-leg trouser is back with a vengeance for summer, and this week’s Steep vs. Cheap option is guaranteed to be the summer pick-me-up your wardrobe needs. Sneaking in at the steep end this week is the Paisley-print silk-twill wide-leg trouser from cult American brand, J.Crew. Cat Deeley glitters in Monique Lhuillier for Critics’ Choice TV Awards

Cat Deeley is a heck of a long way away from Blighty – and we don’t just mean in terms of mileage! After all her hard work and steely determination to succeed, the British TV presenter has well and truly cemented has status as a Hollywood hottie – after all, with those blonde beach waves in her hair, she has that all-American LA girl look right down to a tee. However her appearance at last night’s Critics’ Choice Television Awards in California was less beach babe and more beautiful, blingy babe, as she wowed the crowd in a glittering gold Monique Lhuillier dress from the spring/summer 2013 collection. The dress was very close to blending in with the background and even Cat’s very own hair, but we reckon the panel detailing and her vivid orange lippie rescued the look. If only every Brit who flew across the pond to “make it” had her success story!

Fashion Charts: 5 things going up, and 5 things going down this month

Going up Festival beauty: Suddenly, we’re all raving in fields and bubblegum blue mascara is perfectly acceptable. Festival season’s taking over, but it does come with its downfalls. Lack of hot showers and long queues for toilets can bring out the worst in use, but there isn’t much that pink semi-permanent hair colour, bright eye shadow and feather lashes can’t sort out. Transatlantic takeovers: On a non-fashion note, we can’t help but feel proud of the American intervention we’ve recently experienced. From J-Lo’s raunchy antics on Britain’s Got Talent to Alicia Keys taking her adorable son to a theme park in the Midlands and Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher’s secretive pub dates. And then there’s Jessie J, debuting her delicious new look (oh, that bod!) in the video for her latest video Wild, featuring Big Sean and Dizzee Rascal. Fashion’s future: Graduate Fashion Week is nearly coming to a close, and the idea of seeing fresh, emerging talent taking its first steps into this challenging industry is exciting. With over 1,000 BA fashion graduates from 40 UK colleges showing their collections, alongside students from 16 universities around the world including Parsons and FIT, in New York, will the next Christopher Bailey or Stella McCartney be discovered? The two most famous Ks: One’s a certified royal, and the other is also part of an establishment better know as the Kardashians. Both are due to give birth pretty soon and we can’t wait to see Kate Middleton cooing over the royal tot’s frilly hat, and how many diamonds will adorn Kimye’s daughter’s cot. Blue Ivy, who? High Street denim takeover: Yes, that’s right. Although it’s not earth shattering news, it is when the high street’s most cost effective name takes on a dot com domain! Asos will become the newest home for […]

The Top 10 Summer Sandals Edit

Slipping into summer sandals marks the beginning of taking pedicured (baby) steps into the sunnier climes – or so we like to hope! And just like we’ve shed the knits, winter coats and layer upon layer of casual t-shirts, it’s high time we did the same in the shoe department. It all depends on the look and comfort level you’re going for. Often, summer sandals are associated with gladiator-like, flat styles, but don’t limit yourself to heel-less options. Our top picks aren’t necessarily sandals you want to strut around in, but more of beach-to-bar style. We’ve done the handiwork of rounding up 10 of the best summer sandals, now its your turn to start the outfit imagining! Midweek Moodboard: Casual cool

Another Bank Holiday is approaching, and while we will be using our Monday day off to recover from Sunday night’s partying (painting the town red on a school night is rare so we may as well make the most of it!) we will also be using it to chill out and relax. This means donning suitably chilled out and relaxing clothes, which is sometimes easier said than done when we feel we need our tightest dresses and highest heels to look our best. However, we know it is possible to look and feel great while dressed-down too, which is why we went looking for some great casual attire this afternoon. Think boyfriend jeans, slouchy tops, flowing maxi skirts, and flat, comfortable shoes aplenty. Or if you want a celeb-approved way to give you an air of casual cool, why don’t you don a snapback cap?  If they’re good enough for Cara Delevingne and Rihanna…. Doutzen Kroes for H&M’s spring/summer 2013 campaign!

Not only did the fab Swedish retailer have all that Beyonce for H&M excitement to deal with, but it also made the wonderful decision to invite supermodel extraordinaire Gisele back to front more ad campaigns. Not surprising, she is a pro after all! However, not content with Beyonce and Gisele, H&M has also enlisted the help of Victoria’s Secret Angel Doutzen Kroes for its brand spanking new spring/summer 2013 ad campaign… and we couldn’t be happier with the signing as Doutzen is pretty much the ultimate beach babe! A bronzed Doutzen (complete with essential tousled beach waves in her hair) was photographed in the picturesque location of Tulum Mexico, and is showcasing a host of luscious, African-inspired summer pieces. You can expect everything from animal printed belted swimming costumes to essential embellished beach cover-ups and more. [Sassi Sam]
