The list of celebrities that also ‘design’ is becoming longer than the length of my arm. Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, Mandy Moore and Nicole Richie are just a few of the names on that list. But now it seems that not even sportsmen and women are safe…

I stumbled upon Karen Millen for the first time in the U.S. two years ago. While rummaging through a consignment shop, I fell for Millen’s alligator textured, rhinestone outfitted clutch. After spending about $50, this immaculate piece and I were meant to be together. Ever since this purchase, I have significantly upgraded my wardrobe with Karen Millen pieces, both clothing and accessories.

I have, I must admit, a bit of a jewelry addiction. I’m like a cat with a little bell around my neck - my friends can always tell exactly where I am at any given time due to excessive charms and bangles jingle jangling. Despite said addiction, I rarely buy into jewelry trends or invest in new styles, preferring my eclectic collection of hand-me downs, charms from my travels and vintage gems.

Reader Q&A: What is going to be the trend for sunglasses this season?

I have a question. What is going to be the trend for sunglasses this summer and early Fall? - Michael (June 2nd, 2008)

Sunglasses are a funny thing in terms of trends because there are only so many ways to remodel a pair of spectacles. But, somehow, there is always some new utterly covetable style. The most obvious trend of the moment, for boys and girls, are the classic Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses.

This season, fashionistas have not held back when it comes to wearing bold prints, bright colours and loud accessories, so much so that outfiits are playing second fiddle to big, chunky, sculptural necklaces. To make your own statement, opt for a whimsical charm necklace.

Fed up with big bold cocktail rings, I’ve recently developed an obsession with big bold bracelets. Last week, while sifting through the numerous press releases in my inbox I came across an email about Carole Tanenbaum and her gorgeous collection of vintage jewels. During her 25 years of buying one of a kind pieces, Tanenbaum has amassed a collection of over 15,000 limited edition jewels that date back to the Victorian period right through to the 1980’s. And that is how I came across this beauty - a romantic silver bow bracelet embellished with blue rhinestones. Beautiful isn’t it? $400 available at Carole Tanenbaum

Cinch It Baby: Waist-Defining Belts

I have a handful of voluminous trapeze dresses hanging in my closet (thanks to the big trend last year). Although they were cute and stylish at the time, not-to-mention incredibly comfortable, it’s safe to say that the preggers wannabe phase has safely passed, and now we’re seeing sleeker and more body-conscious silhouettes. Because of this, and the fact that I’m not quite ready to give up on my airy frocks quite yet, I’ve been investing in some waist-defining belts to cinch some shape into them.

If you’re looking for an easy way to update your wardrobe for the spring/summer trends of bright juicy colors and ethnic/boho chic, enamel jewelry is the way to go. Since it doesn’t entail gemstones or even real gold/silver, inexpensive incarnations of any enameled piece will look just as fab as their pricey counterparts. That said, if you’d prefer to splurge, there are a variety of options available.
