The 10 Most Popular Wedding Trends for 2022

As the UK gets ready for the beginning of the wedding season, there are already some trends emerging in relation to what we will be seeing at spring and summer weddings. With nearly 280,000 weddings taking place each year, ranging from small, low budget and intimate get-togethers to lavish events that last more than just one day, it is reasonable to expect that people are taking influence from those who have gone before then to design their own big day. If you are looking at planning your wedding and need some inspiration, this post looks at some of the biggest UK wedding trends you will see this year to give you all the inspiration you will need. Bridgerton Inspired Weddings The Bridgerton family are the most fashionable and well-dressed members of society; they have become an iconic representation of weddings. The Bridgerton weddings are known for their style and elegance. There have been fabulous fashion moments, from Anthony Bridgerton’s wedding to Lady Hyacinth Bridgerton. As a result, many couples are looking to the Bridgertons for inspiration when it comes to their own big day. Think empire-waisted gowns, lots of lace, pale blues and whites, and puff sleeve dresses! If you want the classic style and elegance of your favourite Bridgerton characters, then a Bridgerton inspired wedding could be for you, especially as season 2 is on its way to our screens! Breaking Tradition In the last few years, we have seen more and more weddings breaking tradition. This year, more couples are choosing to have their ceremony in a location other than a church. Many people are opting for their ceremony to take place in a field, forest or even on top of a mountain. This is not your typical church wedding, but it is still as beautiful and meaningful […]

Beyond Awareness: Turning Attention To Breast Cancer Prevention

Breast cancer gets a lot of attention. Every October, football teams sport pink helmets, fundraiser walks spring up in parks, and millions don t-shirts with pun-filled, often sexualized phrases highlighting the disease. Back in 2014, Kate Moss even modeled pink lingerie in a breast cancer awareness campaign. To put it simply, everyone is well-aware of breast cancer – but, as a culture, we’re less rigorous about prevention. An Ounce Of Prevention As the old saying goes, with breast cancer, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. That means that changing the conditions that cause breast cancer, detecting major risk factors, and identifying breast cancer cases before the disease can spread is critical, because once cancer advances, it’s much harder to treat. Breast cancer that’s detected early on, though, can be quite treatable, and there are a few simple steps patients and doctors can take in the name of early identification. Mammograms And Self-Exams The two most important tools in early breast cancer detection are mammograms (a form of imaging that can identify abnormalities in the breast tissue) and manual breast exams, ideally self-exams performed monthly at home. Unfortunately, many women neglect self-exams and there’s significant medical debate over when and how often women should receive mammograms.  At present, it’s generally accepted that all women should receive an annual breast exam from a doctor if they don’t perform them at home. As for mammograms, most doctors recommend women begin receiving annual mammograms at age 40.   Know The Signs Testing goes a long way in identifying breast cancer for those receiving regular medical care, but many people won’t go to the doctor unless they already think something is wrong. When it comes to breast cancer, though, early signs can be quite subtle. Women should be on the lookout for […]

Ralph Lauren’s Collection At NYFW Is Everything We Aspire Our Wardrobes To Be

Wow, wow, wow….And just like that, our hearts literally skipped a beat when we saw Bella Hadid in this amazing metallic gold pleated dress. Courtesy of Ralph Lauren, this stunning piece (which may we add would be absolutely perfect for party season), made it’s debut at New York Fashion Week. Held at the Ralph Lauren Madison Avenue boutique which was converted into “Ralph’s Coffee Shop”, unlike other designers during fashion week whom are presenting what they think we should be wearing this autumn/winter, Ralph Lauren gave us a beautiful collection for Spring/Summer’19. Dominated by gold and black, with sprinkles of white and florals (because it wouldn’t be a spring presentation without florals), the collection was the epitome of elegance and sophistication. Best of all, it’s available to shop right now, but sadly we can’t seem to find the dress in question *sigh*. We shall keep you posted! [Images]

Cate Blanchett Is Pretty In Pink At The Cannes Film Festival 2018 Jury Photocall

We recently championed the trouser suit  for spring and it appears actress Cate Blanchett shares our love too. Attending the Cannes Film Festival 2018 jury photocall, Cate whom has been the appointed Jury President of this years’ festival, was the picture of perfection in a fitted, Stella McCartney pink pastel trouser suit paired with matching Aquazzura heels. Here, Cate whom admittedly is one of our style icons, demonstrates the beauty of the trouser suit especially in pastel shades for this time of year. It’s fresh, chic and exudes sophistication. All in all, we think it was a great choice for the photocall. Do you agree? [Image]

It may not be groundbreaking, but Emma Bunton looked fantastic in florals on the red carpet at the Global Gift Gala in Paris yesterday. Often it’s the simple outfit choices that make the most impact and this is certainly one of those occasions. Are you loving this look as much as we are? [Image]

Party Season Inspo: Kate Bosworth Sparkles At The Instyle Awards 2017

With party season on it’s way (yep it’s nearly that time of year ALREADY!), we’ve found ourselves turning to the red carpet for some much needed inspiration. Last night, Los Angeles played host to the InStyle Awards and naturally there was much party season inspo to be found on all the gorgeous celebrities in attendance. However, while we’re usually pretty decisive on whether we absolutely love or hate a look, when it came to this sparkly gold sequinned number by Alexandre Vauthier (from his Spring/Summer 2018 collection) as seen on Kate Bosworth, we’re torn to say the least. Whilst we love the dress and it’s gorgeous split, we’re not quite sure how we feel about the blue floral accessory. What do you think? Is it a big fat yay or a disappointing nay?

How To Wear A Jumpsuit To A Wedding?

Fuss-free and easy to dance in. The jumpsuit is as functional as it is stylish. Perhaps that’s why we adore this all-in-one hero piece so damn much. Granted we do love a statement dress, but it has to be said, there are those pesky days when we’re unapologetically lazy and just can’t be bothered to shave our legs. It’s on those days that the mere thought of removing unwanted hair makes us want to take a nap…a long nap. Requiring minimal effort and offering head-turning results in return, the jumpsuit is the perfect wedding guest outfit when you’re feeling more Solange as opposed to Kim Kardashian West. While the silky voice songstress takes a relaxed and chic approach to fashion, the reality t.v star and entrepreneur is the epitome of glam all day, everyday. Which let’s face it can be exhausting. Take a leaf out of Solange’s style book and adopt a stylish yet comfy style this wedding season with a jumpsuit. See below for our top picks. A beautifully fitted jumpsuit will serve you well for years to come. Avoid a cropped-leg style if you’re on the tall side. Instead opt for a wide or a straight-leg such as this floral, sleeveless beauty available at wearall.com. …..or this pretty crepe strappy shouldered jumpsuit. Cinch at the waist with a skinny belt and style with gold hooped earrings. Nail your look with killer heels and a chic box clutch. If you’re on the shorter side, culottes are ideal. Instantly flattering this gingham palazzo jumpsuit with it’s eye-catching print is both on-trend and super cute. Keep accessories to a minimum and your make-up striking. Are you more of a summer floral kinda gal? If so look no further than this tropical print strapless jumpsuit. Team with gold strappy heels and a […]

The Look Good Naked Diet and Other Fat Reduction Strategies

The look good naked diet, sometimes written as LGN, is an important part of romance and dating. Humans spend most of their lives fully clothed. The time we spend naked is typically spent alone, or with someone whose opinion we care about very much. If you want to look your best unclothed and in steamy situations, you’ve got to do the prep work when you’ve got all your clothes on, for months at a time. Consistency in the way you live your normal life will determine how you look when you’re in the buff. If you aren’t happy with the way you look au natural, it’s time to make the necessary changes. For many, weight is central to the way we feel about our naked bodies. For some, it’s all about gaining weight and muscle. For others it’s about losing fat that clings to our problem areas. If you just want to smooth out areas where you naturally store fat, an appointment for Coolsculpting may be the best option. This is a natural therapy that focused cold temperatures on fat cells, which in turn causes them to lose their lipids and shed the extra inches. If you have more to lose than can be comfortably shed in a few coolsculpting sessions, you may need to add a few more techniques to your arsenal. Diet is the most fundamental aspect of improving your body, whether to gain or to lose weight and muscle. Portion control is the best way to know just what is going into your body, not just in a caloric sense, but also related to the exact amounts of proteins, carbohydrates, fiber, and other macronutrients you are ingesting. If you start to get the hang of portion control, it gets a lot easier to move your body in […]

Silver Jewellery: Always On Trend

Silver has a brilliant white metallic luster that can take a high polish and which is so characteristic that the name of the metal itself has become a color name. People have been using this precious metal since ancient times. History & Origin Of Silver Silver jewellery was worn by the ancient Egyptians and Romans, medieval nobles and wealthy ladies, representatives of bohemia and high society. However, the first to use silver were Egypt and Mesopotamia. Jewelry made of silver were available only to noble families, as well as the pharaohs and their immediate environment. How To Get Supermodel Style On A Budget

Glamorous supermodels earn their reputation from looking fabulous in every respect – hair, fashion and makeup. However, there’s no need to spend a fortune on stylists, designer wear or makeup artists to adopt supermodel style if you know the tricks of the trade. Instead, pay attention to some of the key principles and be clever with your cash to make the most of your personal supermodel status. Here are a few ideas to help you get started: Your crowning glory Unless they’re getting ready for the runway, supermodels tend to make sure their hair is styled quite naturally and is always clean and shiny. Whether your hair is long or short you can use inexpensive shine drops to bring out the colour and make it look extra smooth and glossy – simply add a few drops and work them through your hair, starting at the ends and moving towards your scalp before blow-drying. Use on frizzy locks as long as you’re careful about the area around your hairline, as adding too much will make your hair look greasy. There are many different brands, including some containing organic products only, so you may want to shop around to find one that suits you best. Your wardrobe Supermodels don’t only wear designer garments, and certainly not all the time. Instead, they have developed the knack of combining stylish items from high street as well as designer stores in unique ways. To make this work you should aim to include one or two “statement” pieces in your wardrobe – these might be a designer bag, a scarf, a pair of shoes, a belt or a top, for example. This means you can dress up the clothes you buy from a great-value online portal, such as for-sale.co.uk, with a little touch of designer class. […]

Get Rihanna’s striking and chic Maison Margiela look

Rih Rih’s always had our hearts but the deal was officially sealed when the stylish starlet graced the red carpet at the 57th Grammy Awards in  Giambattista Valli couture…*swoon*. Swapping Valli for Margiela, Rihanna performed in a black trouser suit from Maison Margiela’s SS15 collection and looked gorgeous. In fact, we adored her look so much, that we dedicated this week’s “get the look” feature to the pop princess. Now, if you don’t own a black trouser suit then you must and we repeat must, invest in one for the seasons ahead. Along with it’s white counterpart, this year the black trouser suit will feature heavily in both spring/summer and autumn/winter trends, so it’s well worth investing in this timeless wardrobe staple. To re-create Rihanna’s look we love Jaeger’s soft tailored jacket and trousers. Pair with Kurt Geiger’s gold fabric shoes and this smoking hot Saint Laurent classic monogram black glitter clutch. Finally accessorize with Swarovski’s exquisite all-round necklace for an effortless-glam look!

We’ve all witnessed the evolution of this great British brand and it is a privilege to be a part of its continuing progress within the world of fashion”. Anne Hathaway wows in Richard Nicoll for Interstellar premiere

After taking a bit of a break from the camera, we can confirm that Anne Hathaway is well and truly back! The Oscar-winning actress has been on not one but two fashion glossy covers this month, and now it’s time for her to make her highly anticipated return to the red carpet too. Anne Hathaway took the red carpet by storm last night, as she looked the epitome of elegant sophistication at the LA premiere of her new film, Interstellar. She stunned in a midnight blue Richard Nicoll dress fresh from the designer’s spring/summer 2015 collection, and teamed it with bedazzling James Banks Designs jewellery which contributed to the overall Hollywood glamour of the look. We can’t fault a single thing! We love how she styled her hair which is growing out rather nicely, and her make-up (which we also haven’t got a single bad word to say about) complemented the midnight hue of her dress perfectly. Red carpet perfection!

“Everyone was kind of shy and didn’t want to go out there yelling and screaming” – Gigi Hadid on THAT Chanel protest

The staged protest that took place during the Chanel spring/summer 2015 show at Paris Fashion Week was to powerful that we think it will stay in our memories forever – but apparently it took a lot of work to get it to that stage. Gigi Hadid, one of the models who took part, explained that she found it quite challenging at first… “Honestly it was such a surreal experience, it felt kind of out-of-body,” the model said. “The crew said, ‘Yes, it’s a fake protest, but you need to go into this realising that you’re on the world stage. Everyone talks about the Chanel show, everyone is going to see it and we’re really setting a protest for you guys – for what Karl sees in all of the amazing women that he works with.’ That really inspired me. “Everyone was kind of shy and didn’t want to go out there yelling and screaming. We had to do a four-hour rehearsal because no one would actually yell, but once they gave us the pep talk, we were all so into it.” We would never have guessed that Gigi and the rest of the girls were nervous about it judging by what we saw on the catwalk. Good work, everyone! [Vogue]

Angelina Jolie wears Ralph & Russo to receive Honorary Damehood

It’s now Dame Angelina, to you. Her Majesty the Queen presented Angelina Jolie with an Honorary Damehood on Friday, in recognition of all her work against sexual violence. The event took place at Buckingham Palace with Brad Pitt and their six children proudly in attendance (although they weren’t in any of the official photographs). “To receive an honour related to foreign policy means a great deal to me, as it is what I wish to dedicate my working life to,” Angelina said. “Working on PVSI and with survivors of rape is an honour in itself. I know that succeeding in our goals will take a lifetime, and I am dedicated to it for all of mine.” Such powerful words from a woman so truly deserving of the honour. And of course we have to mention how chic and elegant Angelina looked for her royal visit… Angelina wore an elegant grey skirt suit from the Ralph & Russo spring/summer 2014 collection (one of Angelina’s go-to designers of the past few years – and one which has been favoured by Kate Middleton herself!) and looked absolutely beautiful from head to toe. We love how she once again championed the British Couture designers – and Buckingham Palace couldn’t have been a better place to showcase their work! Congratulations Dame Angelina Jolie for your well-deserved honour. Keep doing what you’re doing!

Hailee Steinfeld steals the Miu Miu FROW show!

Paris Fashion Week – and Fashion Month as a whole – ended with the same bang it started with, and we have the Miu Miu show and its FROW attendees to thank for that. While Shailene Woodley, Liv Tyler and Nicola Peltz looked impeccable on the front row as they watched the spring/summer 2015 season pieces glide past them on the catwalk, it was not-so-little-anymore Hailee Steinfeld who stole the show for us. The actress wore a pale pink Miu Miu dress for the occasion, which came complete with subtle white detailing on the edges and a bejewelled collar at the top to add some sparkle. Hailee completed her cute-as-pie look with a matching sparkly headband, but added some grown-up edge by way of some bold eye make-up and a snake print clutch bag. Flawless! Hailee Steinfeld is the personification of the Miu Miu brand and everything it stands for – and we bet Miuccia Prada can see a little bit of herself in Hailee. We love!

SS15 highlights from Chanel, Valentino, Louis Vuitton and more

Feminism is without a doubt, the word of the month. First we had Emma Watson’s moving UN speech where she announced the launch of her HeForShe initiative, and now Karl Lagerfeld presents an equal rights protest for the Chanel spring/summer 2015 collection for Paris Fashion Week. Some of the hottest and most in-demand models such as Cara Delevingne, Kendall Jenner, Gisele Bundchen, Joan Smalls and Georgia May Jagger, among many others, joined the Chanel Revolution and held up signs with powerful messages on the catwalk – all while dressed in the finest and newest Chanel attire, of course! Elsewhere in Paris, Valentino presented a typically beautiful collection which was inspired by Italy through the eyes of a traveller. Meanwhile, Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton was influenced by all things Japanese for her latest catwalk outing, sending her models out in erotic and exotic garments with sharp shoulders, bold hand-cut floral detailing, and more oversized floral print than you can shake a stick at. And finally, Louis Vuitton ended Fashion Month with a stunning show presented by Nicolas Ghesquière, with the soundtrack from Close Encounters of the Third Kind playing as the lucky guests took their seats. We saw an abundance of lust-worthy leather goods and accessories – no surprises there – make their debut, and although Nicolas Ghesquière took a lot of risks by introducing new ideas, the aesthetic of the iconic French fashion House remained the same. Short shorts are a definite must next season according to Hedi Slimane! We were once again mesmerised by what Elie Saab had to offer – this time choosing the deep blue sea as his inspiration for the show. Paris Fashion Week SS15 highlights from Jean Paul Gaultier, Givenchy, and Celine

George Clooney’s wedding wasn’t the only exciting thing that happened at the weekend. Paris Fashion Week continued to give us brand spanking new spring/summer 2015 collections from some of the biggest fashion designers in the world, and as usual, we saw some ground-breaking and memorable stuff. The Jean Paul Gaultier spring/summer 2015 show was an emotional one, as the designer showcased his last ever ready-to-wear collection. (He’ll be focusing all his attention on Couture from now on- click here for more deets.) So, it was only right that he went out with a bang, and that’s exactly what he did. JPG paid homage to all the industry figures who have shaped his impressive career; Grace Coddington, Franca Sozzani, Suzy Menkes, Carine Roitfeld, Emmanuelle Alt all ‘featured’ on the runway, making the show a truly unforgettable one just the way JPG intended. Elsewhere in Paris, Riccardo Tisci presented a great, mostly monochromatic collection for Givenchy (with the Kim Kardashian and little North West obviously sitting pretty on the front row to support an eyebrow-less Kendall Jenner), while Phoebe Philo was clearly inspired by the one and only Kate Bush (who is currently touring right here in Britain) for her latest Celine collection. Paris Fashion Week SS15 highlights from Balmain, Lanvin, Roland Mouret and more!

It’s all been hotting up in Paris these past 24 hours, with brand spanking new spring/summer 2015 collections from the likes of Lanvin, Roland Mouret, Nina Ricci and Balmain being the reasons why. Alber Elbaz celebrated Lanvin’s 125th anniversary with an outstanding collection that paid homage to the French fashion House’s history but stayed in tune with the modern woman at the same time too. If anyone can do it, Alber Elbaz can! The Balmain show might just be one of the most star-studded ones we’ve seen so far thanks to its mixture of A-list FROWers and catwalk models. Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn, Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Joan Smalls and Kendall Jenner were just a few of the famous model faces strutting their stuff in Olivier Rousteing’s designs, while the likes of Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner and Kanye West all sat pretty on the front row to take in the new season pieces with an unrestricted view. And speaking of those new season pieces – it was all about the laser cut, check print, summer brights, and skin. Lots of skin was on show thanks to the bralets, sexy short-hemmed dresses, cut-out detailing and low necklines. Roland Mouret’s latest outing was just as sharp and en-vogue as ever; the perfect wardrobe for the professional woman on a tropical getaway. Asymmetric silhouettes, bright colourways, sharp collars – everything we love about Roland Mouret with a chic but relaxed twist. The young celebs will be all over this collection for their red carpet premiere outings, you mark our words. The game of rugby has changed almost beyond recognition since its beginnings in the early part of the 19th century. But ever since the first international game between England and Scotland in 1871 one thing has remained constant throughout the years, and that is the red rose emblem on the England rugby shirt. But why a red rose and not the three “lions passant guardant” from the Royal Arms of England that other England teams – football, cricket, hockey for example – take as their emblem? The fact is that nobody really knows, although there are couple of theories. One suggestion is that it was chosen as it was believed (mistakenly) to represent the English monarchy and hence England. The story dates back to the Wars of the Roses (1455 – 1485), when the Houses of York and Lancaster fought for the throne of England. The House of Lancaster, whose emblem was a red rose, defeated the House of York, whose emblem was white rose. The Lancastrian Henry Tudor defeated the Yorkist king Richard III and assumed the throne as Henry VII. Henry married Elizabeth of York, daughter of the earlier Yorkist king Edward IV, to unite the two Houses amalgamating the roses and making the royal English rose red and white. Later monarchs like Elizabeth I continued their association with the red rose to mark the fact that they were descended from the House of Lancaster; hence the erroneous belief that the red rose was the royal rose. A second theory is that the red rose was chosen because the England rugby shirt was based on the colours used by Rugby School, where the game is reputed to have originated. The School’s founder Lawrence Shefford was presented with a coat of arms by Elizabeth I and was allowed to […]

Paris Fashion Week SS15 highlights from Balenciaga, Dries van Noten, Rochas and more!

Last stop: Paris! Inspired by John Everett Millais’ Ophelia, the Dries van Noten spring/summer 2015 collection was as magically dreamy as they come. With the light, woodland setting – in particular the mossy carpet which was used for the models to walk on – we also got hints of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. All in all, it was a collection of pure, natural beauty, and we have a feeling we’ll be remembering it for seasons to come. The Balenciaga spring/summer 2015 collection was very highly anticipated, and not just because Kim Kardashian and her adorable little girl North West (who wore a miniature leather leggings-and-skirt combo and a Yeezus tour T-shirt – bless!) were sitting pretty in the front row. Alexander Wang presented a minimal and modern collection comprised of black, white and subtle pastel colours, and geometric shapes, embellished, beaded details and subtle yet spectacular embroidering. We love the Matrix-esque long coats that grace the catwalk – practical yet powerful! Take a look at our Paris Fashion Week highlights below to see everything that’s been capturing our attention so far: Balenciaga The Kardashian-Wests arriving for Balenciaga Dries van Noten Rochas Alexis Mabille

Milan Fashion Week SS15 highlights from Dolce and Gabbana, Emilio Pucci, Giorgio Armani and more!

Jeremy Scott definitely got Milan Fashion Week off to a flying start thanks to his Barbie inspired collection for Moschino, but that isn’t the only collection that has blown us away in Italy. The past few days have seen some of the biggest and memorable shows take place, with the likes of Dolce and Gabbana, Emilio Pucci, Roberto Cavalli and Giorgio Armani proving particularly powerful. Although Dolce and Gabbana has been as Sicilian as it gets the past few seasons, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana took their inspiration from Spain for the spring/summer 2015 collection. There was a definite matador theme running through the entire catwalk show, with red and black being the prominent colours throughout. Some of the biggest and most in-demand models could be found on the Emilio Pucci catwalk – from Naomi Campbell to Joan Smalls and Kendall Jenner – they were all there strutting their stuff in Peter Dundas’s floaty explosion-of-colour creations. Tie dye is back, people! Take a look at the rest of our highlights from Milan Fashion Week below and let us know what your favourite pieces are: Emilio Pucci Dolce and Gabbana Giorgio Armani Roberto Cavalli

Romeo Beckham returns for Burberry Christmas advert!

It’s nearly the end of September which means it’s perfectly acceptable to start getting excited for Christmas. And if the thought of sleigh bells, turkey, cosy jumpers and gift exchanging wasn’t enough, we have yet another reason to get excited – we have a sneak peek of the Burberry Christmas advert starring Romeo Beckham! Oh yes, the middle Beckham boy (who is 12 years old now if you can believe it – bet that makes you feel old!) obviously impressed Christopher Bailey and the team when he starred in the spring/summer 2013 ad campaign alongside Cara Delevingne and Edie Campbell, which is why he’s back for more, wearing one of the brand;s most iconic pieces. We bet Victoria Beckham is a very proud mum right now! Burberry confirmed the news yesterday by posting the above pic on its Instagram pic – the teases! – although not many other details about the ‘Burberry Festive’ campaign have been released. We’ll be keeping a beady eye out for more pics and details and report back asap. Who’s excited to see Romeo return for Burberry?

Stylish And Affordable Changes That You Can Make To Your Bedroom This Season

The price of decorating your bedroom according to the current season is a major factor for many people. With an abundance of ideas, it’s not that hard to find the right type of furniture and accessories for your desired bedroom look. However, the advantages of having so many options could also be counter-productive when it comes to expenses. For instance, many types of divans and cots may simply not fit the available space you have in your room. As autumn approaches, selecting from a wide variety of beds, including the Divan Beds Centre – Zip link beds, may offer you a trendy piece of furniture that can serve as the focal point of your autumn-inspired resting place. Affordable changes to your bedroom during the autumn season could also help you discover new things about yourself. Those new things could simply range from sharpening your imagination to increasing your self-confidence. Speaking of new discoveries, redesigning your bedroom lets you express your individual identity and catch up on an old hobby. Are you keen on closely following the latest fashion trends? You can channel that penchant for stylish clothing items into your new bedroom space. During the recent Vogue Fall 2014 fashion week, Valentino was one of the many high-end designers with innovative collections shown in the runway. It’s time to put your creativity and resourcefulness into play, as these items can be replicated through finding low-priced designs that add vibrancy to your bedroom. Patterns were also in attendance during the event with pieces that evoke historical nostalgia. Redecorating your room with an environment that suggests a mid-century appeal is one elegant way to achieve this purpose. Using the colours of the autumn palette is beneficial too, especially when you’re familiar with the timely hues related to the season. Nature-inspired designs and […]

Vivienne Westwood has her say on Scottish Independence debate

Regardless of how you feel about the government or politics in general, tomorrow is a huge day that may possibly go down in history. We are of course talking about the referendum which will determine whether or not Scotland should be an independent country! Does the Scottish independence mean that we will no longer celebrate the Scottish Fashion Awards in the same way? If the vote gets a “yes”, will we have more Scottish fashion events to look forward to in the future? Will some of our favourite Scottish designers permanently relocate? Who’s to say. But one fashion femme who has had her say is the one and only Vivienne Westwood, who is never one to shy away from a political issue… “It would be absolutely great if there is a ‘yes’ vote,” the designer said. “The future could be just amazing and Scotland would be a very important influence on the world. “We just hope that Scotland can be a model for future hope and development where we have a people’s democracy instead of only everything for profit and for business and for destruction.” Despite sending her models on the catwalk with giant “yes” badges during her spring/summer 2015 show (above) don’t expect to see V-West move her fashion troops over there if Scotland does become independent though, as the designer said it would be too big a move for her… “I’ve got 200 people working for me, I just can’t relocate just like that. I will just have to keep making lots of tartan and use the Scottish mills,” she added. Well, there you have it. Where do you guys stand? And what do you think the outcome will be tomorrow? [Reuters]

Paloma Faith wows in Burberry Resort 2015 trench coat for LFW

Paloma Faith doesn’t need to perform to pull out all the stops with her outfit. Despite sitting pretty in the front row for the Burberry spring/summer 2015 show during London Fashion Week and giving her pipes a rest (she serenaded the crowd with Only Love Can Hurt Like This last season, remember?) she still managed to stand out from the crowd and look like a true superstar. The singer wore a gorgeous printed trench coat from the brand’s Resort 2015 collection, which she teamed with a blue hat, a teal Bloomsbury bag, and pumps in a contrasting yet complementary shade of green. Her blonde hair was curled at the ends which complemented the hues of the trench coat beautifully, while her red lipstick added that final bit of colour for maximum wow factor.

London Fashion Week SS15 highlights from Burberry, Tom Ford, Christopher Kane and more!

There were two surprises on the Burberry Prorsum catwalk yesterday afternoon. One – the absence of heels. And two – the absence of Cara Delevingne. Instead, the show was closed by Bradley Cooper’s very lucky and very gorgeous girlfriend Suki Waterhouse – a sign that she is becoming the new Cara perhaps? – while Cara herself joined the likes of Kate Moss and other A-listers on the front row. Do you think she had catwalk envy and FOMO? Elsewhere in London, we saw a very rock ‘n’ roll collection from Tom Ford, who definitely pulled out all the stops for his London Fashion Week show. Heels and stockings were high, and hemlines were low and practically non-existent; it was dark, it was daring, it was provocative, it was overtly sexual – it was Tom Ford in a nutshell! It wasn’t all sordid outfits that Rihanna and Miley Cyrus would be fighting over though, as there was an element of 70s glam rock in there too thanks to the flared sparkly gold trousers – possibly our favourite piece from the entire collection! Take a look at the rest of our highlights from London Fashion Week below and let us know what you think of the latest collections to debut… Burberry Tom Ford Roksanda Christopher Kane

London Fashion Week SS15 highlights from Mulberry, Topshop Unique, Marchesa and more!

London Fashion Week certainly didn’t ease us into the new season’s offerings gently, as it plunged straight in with fabulous collection after fabulous collection. Mary Katranztou once again pushed boundaries with her dance inspired collection, while both Whistles and Topshop Unique gave us hope that we can partake in the new-season trends at a fraction of the high end designer price. And as sportswear was a big theme of the Topshop Unique show, we definitely think versatility and wearability will spring to mind when deciding on whether to splash out on the new season pieces. After all, who doesn’t want to tell themselves they’ll head to the gym and be the most fashionable one there… Elsewhere in London, Mulberry proved that it doesn’t need a creative director at the helm to churn out an inspired collection with a great vision, and Marchesa once again made us completely envious of each and every model lucky enough to be draped in the exquisite designs. As pictures speak am thousand words, here are some of our visual highlights of London Fashion Week so far… Topshop Unique Mulberry Mary Katrantzou Marchesa Whistles

New York Fashion Week SS15 highlights from Jeremy Scott, Michael Kors, Proenza Schouler and more!

We were particularly excited for the Jeremy Scott spring/summer 2015 show, as Miley Cyrus hinted that she would have something to do with it back at the MTV VMAs a few weeks ago. And she certainly wasn’t telling porkies, as she was in fact walking the runway for her good friend Jeremy Scott – and if we’re being honest, it almost seems like his entire collection was made exclusively for her. The pair also unveiled a  series of accessories titled Dirty Hippy – which essentially look like they’re made of kids’ toys and all things nineties. So girls, you know where to get your new wardrobe from if you want to channel Miley… Elsewhere, the New York Fashion Week spring/summer 2015 catwalks saw collections from Betsey Johnson – which was as wild and fairytale like as you would imagine – and Proenza Schouler, among others. Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez made sportswear a pretty big part of their latest Proenza Schouler collection, although it was juxtaposed nicely with some fierce parkas, casual jumpers, and more leather than you could shake a stick at. Leather trousers? Check! Leather incorporated in polo necks? Check check! Michael Kors presented a stereotypically happy and upbeat collection comprised of fun stripe and gingham prints, bold colours and cute separates. Flowers and sequins were in abundance – sometimes on their own, sometimes together! Here are some of our highlights from the latest New York Fashion Week shows: Jeremy Scott Proenza Schouler Michael Kors Betsey Johnson

New York Fashion Week SS15 highlights from Oscar de la Renta, Jenny Packham, Rodarte and more!

Jenny Packham’s show was, as always, quite exquisite, with the designer saying her muse for the new collection was “blatantly Marilyn Monroe”. “She’s been there all my life, but I’ve rediscovered her again,” Jenny Packham said. “She’s still so relevant. What she wore doesn’t date.” We couldn’t agree more, and we absolutely love Jenny Packham’s Marilyn inspired vision. We predict Michelle Williams will be one of the first ladies to step out in one of these pieces; what say you? We definitely feel the Marc by Marc Jacobs girl has a little bit of Miley Cyrus to her – and not just due to the short, twisted top-knot hairstyles found on the runway models. We saw an abundance of polka dots and cute cropped tops – both of which we could easily associate with the controversial singing superstar. We wonder if her influence will make an appearance in her good friend Marc Jacobs’ eponymous collection too… Elsewhere in New York, we discovered that skinny jeans might still be relevant after all – or at least according to Laura and Kate Mulleavy of Rodarte – and last but not least learnt that Oscar de la Renta can still render his audiences speechless with the sheer intricacy and beauty of his designs. Take a look at our latest highlights from New York Fashion Week’s spring/summer 2015 season: Oscar de la Renta Marc by Marc Jacobs Jenny Packham Rodarte

Twitter launches “buy” button… and Burberry is the first to experiment!

We know we aren’t the only ones who instantly want to snap up things we see on Twitter. Whether it’s a new shade of lipstick recommended by a top blogger, or the handbag of the month as suggested by the top fashion glossy, or even a new piece of technology taking the social media world by storm, it’s safe to say that we’ve all been there. Therefore we’re pretty excited to announce that Twitter is expanding into the e-commerce world by launching a “buy” button – and Burberry will be one of the first ever brands to use it by allowing us to snap up the nail polish shades used on the catwalk straight after we see them at the spring/summer 2015 show. A very clever invention that could be very dangerous for all our bank accounts! “When you’re talking about a consumer’s payment info and commerce in general, we’re going to wade very cautiously into those waters – so that when larger brands jump in they can feel great about the experience,” said Nathan Hubbard, head of commerce at Twitter. “We’re testing with Burberry and I think we’ll break some ground with them and set some examples of other ways that brands can follow.” Well it wouldn’t be the first time Burberry did something ground-breaking. As well as Burberry, some of the other Twitter accounts that will be debuting the service include Demi Lovato, Home Depot, Soundgarden and charities such as GLAAD and 9/11 Day. We absolutely cannot wait to see this “buy” service in action! [Vogue UK]

Cara Delevingne wears head-to-toe Mulberry for her Cara Delevingne Collection party in New York

Cara Delevingne must have racked up a lot of air miles this week. As well as attending the Toronto Film Festival, our favourite British supermodel has flown to the Big Apple to promote her brand spanking new collection of Mulberry bags. What a busy bee she is! For once we aren’t talking about her clothes on the New York Fashion Week catwalk, as this time it’s all about the outfit she wore at the Cara Delevingne collection party at the Mulberry store in New York’s Spring Street… The actress, supermodel, and social media queen was decked head to toe in Mulberry – of course! – and looked phenomenal in a cream Chelsea blouse, black leather skinny trousers, black Mira pumps, and one of her own creations: the mini Cara Delevingne black and white camouflage haircalf bag. Phew; quite a mouthful, but we got there in the end! Cara was joined at the party by her big sister Poppy Delevingne, Georgia May Jagger, and blogger/DJ Bip Ling, among others, although we have to say that Cara’s look was definitely our favourite. She kind of had to steal the spotlight at her own event… are we right?! [Image c/o Mulberry]

New York Fashion Week SS15 highlights from Tommy Hilfiger, Donna Karan, Carolina Herrera and more!

Yet more designers debuted their spring/summer 2015 collections on the New York Fashion Week catwalks yesterday, and as usual, we saw a lot of interesting things before our eyes. Tommy Hilfiger saw the return of Kendall Jenner (who we also saw on the DVF catwalk a few days ago) as well as a modern nod to one of our favourite decades: the sixties! As well as her own interpretation of that Pharrell Williams hat (made by Stephen Jones, may we say) Donna Karan also showcased plenty of versatile pieces, including stunning separates, new silhouettes, and more print than you can shake a stick at. And last but not least, Carolina Herrera went totally modern on us as she debuted a collection full of bold digital prints that were, in a word, breathtaking. New York Fashion Week SS15 highlights from Diane von Furstenberg, Victoria Beckham, Alexander Wang and more

New York Fashion Week continued to get bigger and better over the weekend, as more designers showed the lucky attendees – and the rest of the world – what they’ve been cooking up for the spring/summer 2015 season. The Diane von Furstenberg finale was probably the highlight of her show given that Naomi Campbell debuted the final look in the collection – talk about a fierce ending and going out with a bang! Although adorable little Harper was absent, Victoria Beckham’s loving husband and son Brooklyn were in the FROW to support her – and it’s a good job too as the show seemed to go flawlessly and her debut shoes seemed to go down pretty well too. We definitely think they’re her lucky charms! From the military inspiration at Victoria Beckham to the downright stunning red carpet worthy dresses at Monique Lhuillier, here are some of our highlights from NYFW over the weekend: Diane von Furstenberg Victoria Beckham Monique Lhuillier Alexander Wang

Michelle Williams returns to Louis Vuitton for a third season!

Michelle Williams has returned for Louis Vuitton for a glorious third season – and we couldn’t be happier to see her beautiful face in the new ad campaigns! If it ain’t broke… The actress took time out of her busy Broadway schedule to pose for Peter Lindbergh’s camera lens for the autumn/winter 2014 Louis Vuitton ads, which were styled by none other than Carine Roitfeld. So much talent in one photoshoot! According to LV, the ad campaign aims to “hint at the woman behind the actress, revealing the intriguing balance of force and fragility that made Michelle Williams such a compelling choice as the face of Louis Vuitton.” Quite! As well as that, we can’t help but lust after the gorgeous bags which Michelle is showcasing; the Capucines and The Lockit – two of the hottest bags of the new season! Michelle is also debuting a longer hair style in the ads, which we noticed once we’d stopped drooling over the aforementioned pieces of arm candy. Does this mean she is growing out her hair? We love it! And we love the new Louis Vuitton campaign! Ps: Click here to check out the spring/summer 2014 ad campaign!

Pixie Lott is chic and sophisticated in Christian Dior at Scottish Fashion Awards

Last night’s Scottish Fashion Awards weren’t just about the designers who walked on stage to accept their awards. The presenters, musicians and other famous faces also got a lot of attention too – especially newly confirmed Strictly Come Dancing contestant Pixie Lott! The 23-year-old singer (and soon-to-be dancer) attended the Scottish Fashion Awards at Northumberland Avenue with her hunky boyfriend Oliver Cheshire, and treated the guests to a surprise acoustic set. But the thing we want to talk about the most is her outfit… Pixie looked divine in a blue and white satin Christian Dior creation from the spring/summer 2014 collection, proving that elegance and colour-blocking are still very much in style. The pencil dress showed off her sleek and svelte figure – which is only going to get better during her time on Strictly – as well as her maturity. As much as we love the cute and fun dresses she loves to wear on the red carpet, we definitely think we can get on board with her sophisticated new style. And don’t forget you can watch Pixie and the rest of the contestants on Strictly Come Dancing this Saturday. Good luck Pixie!

Opening Ceremony is staging a play for New York Fashion Week

Catwalk shows are sooo last season. At least for Opening Ceremony they are, as it’s just been revealed that the brand will be hosting a play instead off the traditional catwalk show that lasts a few minutes. New York Fashion Week just got even more exciting! And that’s not even the best bit. The best bit is that the one act play is going to be written by director Spike Jonze and actor Jonah Hill. How cool and unexpected is that? We have no idea how the play is going to showcase the new-season spring/summer 2015 designs to the crowd or even where it will be held but we are beside ourselves with excitement either way. All will be revealed on September 7th in New York (we think/hope) so stay tuned! [Harper’s Bazaar]

Ralph Lauren Blue Label goes neutral for summer

Nude is back, people! Ok it never really went away to begin with, but we’d like to confirm that it’s bigger and better than ever before! And before readers of a prudish disposition stop in their tracks and recoil in horror, we’d like to point out that we are in fact talking about the colour – or lack thereof – as opposed to the state of undress. Reading resumes here… We don’t just have Kate Middleton and her love of a nude pump to thank for the emerging neutral trend – although she has played quite a substantial part in bringing it back on people’s radars. Ralph Lauren is just one of many designers who is bringing natural shades back on our style agenda; and this time he’s making sure that everyone’s paying attention. Sure we love a bright, bold summer hue for getting attention on the beach or at the cocktail bar, or a cute pastel colour combo for those light springtime evenings, but neutral is really standing out the most for us at the moment. And you only have to take a look at the latest Ralph Lauren collection to see what we mean. Going for nude is by no means a cop out; the textures, prints and patterns in the Ralph Lauren Blue Label collection alone are proof that nude is the furthest thing from dull and boring imaginable. The latest collection was actually inspired by Out of Africa – a film bursting with style if we may say – which is more than evident thanks to the basket weave cardigans and skinny jodhpurs complete with their very own suede knee patches. Our favourite piece from the collection, however, is the Nappa Gemima bootie in “truffle” as it’s a versatile shoe that would be just as welcome […]

Last-Minute Summer Must Haves

If you’re looking to keep up with the trends this summer, there are a few essential items you’ll need to invest in. If you’re ready for a bit of retail therapy then look no further. From water resistant concealer to slip on flats; below you’ll discover the most important products you need to have this season. Slip on flats As the temperatures soar, your feet are one of the main parts of the body to suffer. Therefore you’ll need to invest in light, comfortable shoes. Slip on flats have proven to be a big hit on the catwalks this season. There’s a wide variety of styles on offer including wild prints and dazzling metallic options. Boyfriend Jeans According to You Look Fab, one of the must haves of the season is boyfriend style jeans. If you tend to have quite narrow thighs and hips, you can get away with choosing cropped varieties. These will help to keep your legs extra cool in the hot weather. Knitwear This may surprise you. After all, who wears knitwear in summer? Well, it turns out quite a lot of people will be doing so this season. Think light cardigans and thin jumpers. The UK isn’t known for tropical weather. So there’s a high chance there will be a lot of cooler days. Light knitwear will help to keep you warm, while ensuring you look stylish this summer. Waterproof make-up If there’s one thing every woman should invest in throughout the hot summer months, it’s waterproof make-up. As the temperatures soar, it can cause a rather unflattering look as your make-up starts to run down your face. Waterproof concealer, foundation and mascara are a must. Skin perfector Investing in waterproof make-up is one thing, but you also need to ensure you’re applying it onto even, […]
