Deal of the day: Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh

We love Marc Jacobs for his fun and fresh style, and luckily for us, that extends across his collections and into his beauty offerings, too. Marc Jacobs’ Daisy eau de toilette has become one of our beauty bag staples since its first release, and its latest reinvention as Eau So Fresh is the perfect fruity fragrance. Favoured for its light scent, Daisy Eau So Fresh is an ideal daytime fragrance – the fresh undertones provide a clean, light scent with a base of vanilla and verge of citrus fruits. But we couldn’t award any fragrance a place on our most loved list without loving the bottle as well. This super cute bottle features an oversized lid covered in a field of rubber daisies, echoing the fun, playful scent inside and out. Wear with the confidence that this sunny scent will smell fresh and beautiful all day long. Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh eau de toilette, £48, available at Debenhams. BUY NOW!

Kate Moss lights up on the catwalk

Kate Moss has always been known for her rebelling streak, so naturally, on National No Smoking Day, the international style icon could be seen puffing away on a nasty nicotine stick at Paris Fashion Week – didn’t fancy quitting for just one day Kate, eh? As Moss strut her stuff down the Louis Vuitton catwalk for the brand’s latest AW11 collection, the model could be seen happily puffing away in a rather erotic get-up, as she closed the show yesterday. The 37 year-old returned to the runway for Marc Jacobs after a three year break from the catwalk limelight, but judging by those skimpy hot-pants and laced up booties, she definitely proved she’s still got what it takes to wow a crowd, reports the Daily Mail. Well, she is Kate Moss after all.

Michael Kors opens his first store in France

American designer Michael Kors certainly has something to smile about these days after opening his first store in Paris on rue Saint-Honore yesterday – we’d be sporting a pretty huge grin too. The store’s within short walking distance from Colette and stands as his largest store in his 175-shop global chain, with an impressive 7,000 square foot radius and two storeys high – it definitely makes a fashionable impression on the Parisian front. Kitted out in gleaming white glass and chrome interior, with zebra-skin rugs and black and white photographs galore, it looks as if Michael has favoured the monochrome style touch for this one. Inside you can find all the treasures you desire from the designer’s complete collections, including his diffusion line, Michael by Michael Kors; his main line, and all his accessories, jewellery and fragrances. But as a little something extra – he knows how the French love their little pet pooches – Kors has designed a new range of dog-carriers in canvas and leather with matching leads, especially for his new store. And with his new Madison Avenue store now open on the corner of 67th street in New York, followed closely by his new London lifestyle store on Regent Street opening in two weeks’ time, reports the Telegraph, it looks as if the Kors empire hasn’t finished expanding just yet.

Natalie Portman condemns John Galliano

The shocking video that emerged yesterday claiming to show Christian Dior creative director John Galliano in the same bar where Thursday’s alleged verbal assault took place, in which the designer made anti-Semitic insults towards a couple drinking at a nearby table at the time, hasn’t done Galliano any favours. Black Swan actress Natalie Portman, the face of Dior’s Miss Dior Cherie fragrance, has said in a statement this morning that she’s “deeply shocked and disgusted” that Galliano would use such language. “I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced,” the Oscar 2011 winner told Vogue UK. “In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr Galliano in any way. I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful.” Galliano’s fate now rests in the hands of the police, but Dior is sticking by its decision to suspend him until the case is resolved. See the video of Galliano for yourself here.

Kate Moss in Siwy

Whilst promoting her new fragrance, Vintage Muse, in London town last Friday, supermodel Kate Moss wore a pair of skinny Siwy ‘Hannah’ jeans to mark the special occasion. The skinny jean has always been one of Ms. Moss’s all time favourite wardrobe staples, and these sleek black denim beauties by Siwy prove no exception – after all, they complement her laid-back rock chick look to perfection. Dressed head to toe in black, the British beauty teamed her noir look with a Chanel-inspired tweed blazer, fur-trimmed ankle boots and a fresh ‘do – we, for one, are warming to her new-found fringe rather nicely. If you’re after a new pair of jeans for Christmas, you can pick up Kate’s Siwy ‘Hannah’ style from ASOS, £190 £133, here.

Anna Dello Russo owns 4000 pairs of shoes

You’d expect a fashion editor, especially one with as much spice as Anna Dello Russo, to have a covetable clothing collection, but for the Vogue Japan editor at large it goes somewhat further – by, say, a good 4000 pairs of shoes and 250 black tuxedo jackets or so. “I was crazy about fashion from the day I was born,” she says, and she’s not lying. Relentlessly restyling her Barbies, her first big spending spree came at the age of 13 with a visit to Fendi, no less, and the rest, as they say, is history – she ditched her husband for his wardrobe space and now has a drinks cabinet for a kitchen because, in her words, she “had to choose between a kitchen and more closets, so I took the closets.” But such an extensive fashion archive doesn’t mean she’s a hoarder – hell, Dell Russo is anything but. “I hate vintage clothes,” she tells W magazine, referring even to last year’s Prada. “I love the smell of a new store, not an old dress.” As such, her walk-in wardrobes are organised with military precision: new purchases sit front-row as last week’s items are squeezed to the back, but when the season ends, it all goes (bar the furs, they’re timeless) to make way for her new-season purchases. “The preparation,” she says, “is truly scientific.” To be Anna Dello Russo for a day… Read the full interview with the Italian super-stylist at wmagazine.com.

Lady Gaga is launching a perfume!

So remember a while ago when rumours were rife that one certain Lady Gaga was launching a perfume, only to be quashed a few days later by Coty who said no such thing was happening? Well it is! And it’s with Coty! They’re such devils. Stephan Mormoris, senior vice president of global marketing at Coty (who hold the license to any worthy celebrity fragrance), has done one big fat full circle this morning after announcing that Lady Gaga has signed a long-term contract with the company to create fragrances under her name. According to WWD the agreement between the pair was finalised last week, and the first scent is set to roll out in time for spring 2012, though there’s no news on what it’ll smell like or quite how extravagant the bottle will be. What is clear, however, is just how pleased Coty is with its new coup, describing her as a “phenomenon” and a “fascinating cultural force” who can electrify the market – or make them a one huge wad of cash, in other words. We’re eagerly awaiting the first sneak peeks of the fragrance’s design – let’s hope it’s more leather and lace and less, er, meat.

Malin + Goetz Hair Products

Hailing from the chic Chelsea neighbourhood of New York, Malin + Goetz has built its brand on a no-frills, natural ingredients and gentle performance approach that’s proved to be immensely popular with the stylish grooming set. As well as a core range of skin-care essentials, targeted treatments and a perfumery that provides modern interpretations of traditional fragrance concepts, Malin + Goetz have an all-natural range of hair products that we’ve got our eyes on. For a really refreshing hair wash we love their Peppermint Shampoo £15 which has amino acid hydration technology for healthy and shiny hair, as well as effectively purifying, clarifying and balancing all hair and scalp types – and it smells divine too. After using the shampoo you can finish off your newly shiny hair with their Sage Styling Cream £15 that boasts fatty acid absorption technology – the kind of technology we like the sound of – but rather than being an alternative to going to the gym, the absorbent fatty acids in the cream provide shine, definition and texture. The styling cream is really lightweight so you don’t get left with a heavy residue on your hair, and it’s natural hold is still strong enough to hold your style all day. The sage extract smells amazing and gives the cream a great fragrance that’s really distinctive without being overpowering. Malin + Goetz is available at Liberty and you can visit the site for a full range of products.

Time for Summer with L’Occitane’s Peony Collection!

Famed for luxury soap, and a shop smelling distinctly like a Florist in Covent Gardens, L’Occitane has recently brought us their new ‘Peony Collection.’ You’d never guess, but it’s based on the peony flower and the legends of beauty that surround it. Split into two – fragrance and make-up, each product contains peony extract, leaves your skin smelling of fresh flowers and as expected is presented in striking packaging that truly enhances the distinction between this brand and high street competitors such as Body Shop. I never expected anything other than luxury in the shape of soap and lipgloss and the smell of a French garden – which is exactly what I got.  Once again a fine example of L’Occitane promising to deliver and doing exactly that. My favourite piece? The illuminating powder – not only balances the red in your skin and brightens your complexion, but brush it around your nose and you’re smelling flowers all day! Not to mention the pretty picture in the powder! Definitely leads me to believe that summer is finally here!

Review: Love From New York by DKNY

Think of Romance and what comes to mind? Paris, Rome or Barcelona? DKNY have made love global and brought it into the 21st century with their ‘Love From New York’ fragrance. Inspired by couples walking hand in hand through central park and a late night ferry ride across the Hudson – this new scent is as sweet as candy floss in a fair ground. Infused with Water Lilly, Fresia and Black Current  ‘Love From new York’ certainly seems to capture the essence of falling in love, its spontaneity and the innocence of those first few breaths of romance. With a sweet smell that lingers for hours – much like a first date – this new fragrance from DKNY is great for a spring fling – but like any date – spectators beware;  the mere power of it, may leave you nauseous.

Chanel Coco Cocoon Preview

The other day Chanel hosted a small cocktail event in their showroom to preview their latest Coco Cocoon collection which hits stores in early August. The showroom is gorgeous! Sadly no photography is allowed inside, but I was able to get my hands on some of their professionally shot handbag images. Coco Cocoon is a relatively new addition to the Chanel family – the first line made its debut at the end of 2009 and was supported by an ad campaign featuring Lily Allen. Each handbag in the sportier, more casual collection is made of either leather or lightweight nylon and many of them are reversible. This season, for the first time, there are some orylag fur-accented bags in the mix and one matte-finish alligator skin bag (somewhat of a surprise given that the main RTW Fall 2010 Chanel accessory collection was crafted exclusively using faux-fur). Among the colors in the Fall line are Blue, Charcoal and Light Grey, Ivory, Cobalt Blue, Chocolate, Silver, and of course, Black.
