Cara Delevingne gets another tattoo!

We guess it’s true what they say: once you get your first tattoo you’re pretty much addicted! It was only last week Cara Delevingne got her first bit of ink (a tiger on her index finger) but she was back in the chair for another tattoo – this time opting to get her initials CJD (the J stands for Jocelyn, by the way – you learn something new every day!) on her hand. What do you think? “It was her first tattoo, but you know, she was not nervous! Not one bit. She was perfect,” said Big Bang, the celeb tattoo artist who also did Cara’s tiger tatt. (His A-list clients also include Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Rita Ora among others!) “Cara was good in the chair, real good. First tattoo… she was an absolute pro. There was no diva supermodel behaviour, not at all, she’s the coolest most down to earth girl.” Tell us something we didn’t already know! What do we think Cara will get next? [Grazia]

Fashion Charts: 5 things going up, and 5 things going down this month

Going up Punk fever: The punk revival was well and truly felt at this year’s Met Ball, with added thanks to Miley Cyrus’s outlandish barnet and Madonna’s flesh flashing shenanigans. But will it last? We hope the magical era is here to stay for good, so we can break fashion rules and paint our (not so flat) stomachs with anti-gun slogans. Check out our Punk inspo moodboard for your fix. Gatsby fever: Taking a detour from crazy hair and garish outfits, the other era the fashion world is currently dabbling in is the Roaring Twenties. With Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby set for release next week in the UK, expect a rise in opulent hair accessories, art deco prints and more flapper dresses you can shake a jazz dance move at! Shop our top Gatsby-inspired pieces here. Festival kick off: Although the major headliners are taking place smack bang in the middle of summer, several niche festivals are taking place this month, which can only mean one thing; getting your festival wardrobe into gear. Check out our top 10 picks here. Embellished tees: Luxe tees have been gaining momentum amongst the fash pack for some time now, so when we laid our peepers on the embellished 3.1 Phillip Lim Nueva York tee , we were sold at hello. The new low sandal: Or, dubbed the ‘Elvis’ sandal, thanks to the rhinestone detail; embrace summer’s new take on the gladiator sandal but with a flattering (read: pain-free) heel. Look to Isabel Marant for a high end hit, or Zara and Mango do equally stylish, pocket-friendly versions. Going down Glove sleeves: Come on, Kim! What were you thinking? Dressing to flatter your bump, we understand, is priority, but hand concealing doesn’t really come in to it. Enough said. Winter coats in spring: After experiencing […]

Mila Kunis voted ‘Sexiest Woman in the World’

Gwyneth Paltrow may have been voted People’s ‘most beautiful’, but Mila Kunis has received FHM’s crown for Sexiest Woman in the World. We haven’t had a lot of time to think about who we would put at the top or even in the top ten, but we most certainly aren’t arguing with the magazine’s decision. We would give anything to look even half as stunning as Ashton Kutcher’s girlfriend! “Mila Kunis has had a phenomenal year – she’s starred in the highest-grossing comedy Ted and is the most in-demand Hollywood star right now,” Dan Jude, editor of the polls said. “Not only is she naturally stunning, but she has a great sense of humour and isn’t afraid to poke fun at herself. “The nation has spoken, and the verdict is that she is officially the perfect girlfriend. She’ll take some beating in 2014.” We’ll say! Last year’s winner Tulisa Contostavlos didn’t make the top ten this year (ouch!) but Rihanna did come a very respectable second, followed by Helen Flanagan, Micelle Keegan, Kelly Brook, Kaley Cuoco, Pixie Lott, Kate Upton, Cheryl Cole and Georgia Salpa respectively. Do you agree with the list? [My Daily]

Gemma Arterton vs. Shailene Woodley vs. Amber Valletta: Who wore Stella McCartney better?

Judging by the popularity of a particular Stella McCartney ensemble, it’s a triple fash-off this week! Spotted in the same form-fitting Stella McCartney tuxedo jumpsuit, actresses Gemma Arterton, Shailene Woodley and model Amber Valletta have firmly fallen on our style radar. Cast your minds way back to February 2012, when Stella McCartney threw THAT lavish party during London Fashion Week (the one that included crazy, models-dancing-on-tables antics, and a very cosy looking Rihanna and Kate Moss). Attendee Amber Valletta was the first to slip into the tux jumpsuit for the event, oozing every bit the model glamour she’s carved a successful career out of. A simple black clutch and ankle strap heels accessorised the look, whilst slicked back hair and strong eyes completed the look. Shailene Woodley gave the tux jumpsuit its next outing at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, last June. Styled with Stella McCartney sandals (natch), Shailene opted for a messy fishtail plait and went sans accessories. And, finally in the fash-off line-up, Brit beauty Gemma Arterton wore the tux jumpsuit to the 2012 British Fashion Awards back in November. Styled with wedges by the same designer, a handheld cross-body bag and an orange bracelet, Gemma sported softly tousled waves and neutral makeup. But whose look steals the fash-off champion title? We’re rooting for Gemma on this one for one simple reason: she oozes oodles of confidence, whereas Amber and Shailene – who look equally as amazing – seem a little vanilla in comparison. The alternative thought to styling and soft curls bring a feminine edge to the near-androgynous style of the tux jumpsuit, and Gemma gets the balance just right! Whose look wins for you?

Nikki Rich AW13 – the celeb clothing collection with a difference!

Bored of all the clothing collections designed by top models and pop Princesses? If you want a celeb clothing line with a difference, may we suggest extending your search to one created by what can only be described as a rock God? Richie Sambora (the musical-maestro behind the Bon Jovi guitar) and design partner Nikki Lund have just unveiled the autumn/winter 2013 ‘Nikki Rich’ clothing collection at Los Angeles Fashion Week, and we think it’s their best outing yet! It’s comprised of fun, edgy pieces that are perfect for channelling your inner rock star for all occasions… and best of all, they’re totally wearable! Richie and Nikki obviously got the memo about military jackets being all the rage, because quite a few expertly tailored variations came out to play on the catwalk… the black one above has our name on! And speaking of the catwalk, we heart the rock chick meets Heidi styling that was going on – definitely a trend to try! We love everything about this collection – the partnership, the versatility, the attitude… need we say more? [WWD] [Image]

Five insanely cute cropped tops

[noskim] Last week, the sun was well and truly out in force, and as a result, a lot of the British public’s flesh was too. Flashing your pins is one way of making the most of the good weather, as well as wearing sleeveless tops to feel the much-needed breeze, but cropped tops are the next big thing – an essential piece of women’s fashion! Just look at all the celebs for proof! A host of female celebs are fans of the good old cropped top (it’s no longer reserved for channeling 90s pop stars Britney Spears and Sporty Spice Melanie C among others) with hotties such as Miley Cyrus, Nicole Scherzinger and Kimberley Walsh being just a few famous fans. Granted they all have perfectly toned and sculpted washboard abs and glowing skin, but that shouldn’t discourage you from getting in on the sexy tops action either. Wearing a cropped top with a high-waisted pencil skirt is one way to put a chic and demure spin on the trend, as is layering it with a cute cardi and heaps of jewellery. Take a look at five of our favourite crop tops currently available: 1. Cory Crop Top – Mint This cute crop top is the perfect piece of clothing to lounge around in on a hot day – be it in this country or somewhere with even sunnier (more permanent) climes. Wear with cut-off shorts for those casual, lazy scorching days, or team it with cropped trousers and layered jewellery for a relaxed evening look. 2. Rihanna Crop Top – Black Definitely an essential piece of clubwear – and you don’t have to be a hot Barbadian singer to rock this top either! We love the on-trend cut-out detailing at the back and on the shoulders; it’s also a […]

FASHION CHARTS: going UP and going DOWN this month

Want a one stop shop for all things HOT and NOT this month? Our fashion chart rounds up the most talked about things in the frantic world of fashion, from the ‘Russian pack’ to Rihanna at River Island on Oxford Street, to Cara Delevingne’s questionable footwear choice and the headgear revolution that’s getting out of control. We’re pretty sure we haven’t missed out any vital fash flashes, but if you’re in the know, and think we could do with extending our list of what’s au fait, and what’s strictly non, non, then go ahead and let us know! UP Elena Perminova The 26-year-old wife of Russian media mogul Alexander Lebdev, and darling of every credible street style blog, Elena Perminova (and her formidable wardrobe) is a lady after our own hearts. Wearing couture like it ain’t no thing, snagging exclusive FROW seats and a model herself, it’s safe to say she outdoes rival street style mavens and models, alike! Catch her gallivanting through the fashion capitals with the ‘Russian Pack (see Ulyana below), donning every designer you can imagine, from the haute to the avant-garde. Come next season, our beady style eye will be firmly fixed on this beauty. Rihanna for River Island Yes, the hype has been circulating for a while now, but yesterday saw Rihanna’s collection for River Island finally leap from the catwalk on to its concrete counterpart. The collection landed in stores, with Rihanna herself greeting fans for the launch at the Oxford Street store wearing a black dress from the collection (natch). Get your dose of urban 90s style while it’s hot and available, or, in Rihanna’s words, ‘Phresh of the Runway’. Swapping tonne heavy coats for tees A gloriously sunny day was enjoyed by all in London yesterday, although most the fash pack have mostly […]

Paris Fashion Week AW13 highlights from Balenciaga, Balmain, Lanvin, H&M and more

Another day in Paris and another host of top designers debuting their autumn/winter 2013 collections on the French catwalks. There have been quite a few first these past 24 hours too, in the form of H&M’s first runway show in eight years, as well as Alexander Wang’s highly anticipated debut collection for Balenciaga. Mr Wang proved that he was indeed the right man for the coveted job, juxtaposing and balancing the creations more commonly found in his eponymous label with those of Balenciaga quite flawlessly. The high street has been more prominent this Fashion Month than ever before (Rihanna for River Island, Whistles, Topshop Unique to name just a few) and we’re hoping that H&M will see how successful the show has been and continue to present its collections in Paris. We’d prefer London, but we won’t be too fussy as we’re just glad it’s getting a Fashion Month outing at all! There was plenty of sparkle, as well as some big shoulders, bold lines, vivid colours and exaggerated structured  silhouettes at Balmain – one of our PFW highlights every season – while Mugler opted for a much softer and subtler approach to drama than usual. As always, Alber Elbaz presented a chic and clean collection for Lanvin, while Gareth Pugh took the term “haunting” to new depths. Take a look at the highlights below: H&M Balmain  Mugler Lanvin Gareth Pugh

Oscars vs. Governer’s Ball vs. Vanity Fair after-party: Who looked best in red?

Single-handedly the most important event in Hollywood’s calendar took place on Sunday, and much of the fashion world is still reporting on its breathlessness from witnessing the red carpet efforts of the A-list. Hollywood’s elite pulled out all the stops for the Oscars, and the world famous Vanity Fair Oscars after-party was nothing short of a glam-oozing soirée – one to equally rival its preceding bash. The colour red appeared to be a popular hue of choice, with Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer Aniston, Olivia Munn and Hilary Swank all playing Lady in Red on the red carpet. So, naturally, a fash-off ensued! First up, Amanda Seyfried attended the Governer’s Ball in a Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci gown. Changing out of her show-stopping McQueen number, Amanda accessorised with diamond jewellery and a Givenchy clutch. Olivia Munn attended the Oscars ceremony in a Fall 2013 Marchesa ruby red strapless gown with gold embroidered bodice. Accessorising her baroque-inspired gown was a side-parted up do, a strong lip and simple jewellery. Hilary Swank’s Oscar ceremony outfit reminded us ever so slightly of Rihanna’s custom Alaia gown at the 2013 Grammy Awards. Opting for a Spring 2013 Valentino Couture gown in crimson red, Hilary finished her look with a Fifties-inspired wave and a Swarovski clutch. And finally, Jennifer Aniston, who also opted for a spring 2013 Valentino Couture number at the Oscars, definitely commanded the cameras as she walked the red carpet! Accessorising the strapless, full-bodied gown were minimal jewels and a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch. Phew! That was quite the dose of red on the red carpet, don’t you think? But who won the battle between the two and didn’t just, y’know, camouflage with the famed walkway? A notoriously difficult colour to carry off (too striking, too burnt out are often sartorial issues), each A-lister […]

London Fashion Week AW13: Highlights from Day 2

Despite being a little worse for wear, we were up bright and early for the second day of London Fashion Week – we weren’t going to miss the 9am DAKS show for the world! And boy are we glad we got out of bed for it! Day 2 was pretty packed, with autumn/winter 2013 collections from the likes of Julien Macdonald, House of Holland, Carlotta Actis Barone, Issa, and the highly anticipated Rihanna for River Island (among others) all making their debut. It was another successful day for celeb-spotting too, with the likes of Pixie Lott and all five members of The Saturdays showing their support on the Julien Macdonald front row, but the prize for most star-studded FROW definitely went to the one and only Bajan pop princess known as Rihanna. Even Cara Delevingne – who is usually on the catwalk herself – had the night off and enjoyed the show from her seat. Let’s crack on with the highlights, shall we? DAKS A strong and contemporary collection comprised of loose, layered, relaxed and tailored pieces. Lots of sleeveless numbers for all you sleeve-phobics, and a few leather pieces to grunge it up. Two pieces which stole the show for us were the tailored black jumpsuit, and the gold cropped vest top. Simply stunning. Carlotta Actis Barone  One of our most anticipated shows of the day – mainly because we got an epic performance from some ballet dancers during the show last season so we were expecting great things. There were no musical interludes this time around, but that didn’t mean we didn’t enjoy the show. Au contraire, the designer presented a much more muted and understated collection this season, with a high selection of instantly wearable pieces for both day and night. What it lacked in varied colour […]

The 55th Grammy Awards 2013: The best dressed!

Grammy time! The red carpet got rolled out on both sides of the pond yesterday; while the biggest acting stars in the world jetted into London for the BAFTAs, the singing sensations headed to sunnier climes (Los Angeles, to be exact) for the 55th annual Grammy Awards. We were looking forward to seeing what the girls ended up wearing, given the stricter dress code they had to work with this year. We expected a few of them to be rebellious and flash the flesh anyway (if you’ve got it, you may as well flaunt it) but they actually more or less behaved themselves… save for a few plunging necklines and J-Lo’s dangerously high slit dress. If you joined us last night for our live-tweeting you might remember that we got particularly excited by the arrival of pop Princess Rihanna, who stuck to the rules and went for a phenomenal red custom Azzedine Alaia gown, and music Queen Beyonce who defied expectations and went for a modern monochrome pant suit by LFW-fave Osman…  and totally working it, may we add! Check out the full list of our best-dressed below; and as usual, don’t forget to vote for your favourite! Beyonce in Osman Rihanna in custom Azzedine Alaia  Carrie Underwood in Roberto Cavalli   Katy Perry in Gucci Taylor Swift in J Mendel Adele in Valentino Kelly Rowland in Georges Chakra Florence Welch in Givenchy Couture Jennifer Lopez in Anthony Vaccarello Nicole Kidman in Vera Wang Solange Knowles in Ralph & Russo  Karlie Kloss in Michael Kors Kaley Cuoco in Amen Alicia Keys in Azzedine Alaia  Kat Dennings in Vivienne Westwood  Carly Rae Jepsen in Roberto Cavalli  [poll id=”393″]

The Grammys are going to be a sideboob-free zone!

Bad news for likes of Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga, as CBS has implemented a pretty strict dress-code for the 55th Grammy Awards this Sunday. Ri Ri, who is fond of flashing the flesh on the red carpet (as well as the stage, and her videos) famously wore a dangerously plunging Armani dress last year, but we don’t think she’ll be able to get away with something quite so revealing this time around. Sorry, boys! “Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered,” reads the statement issued by CBS. “Thong type costumes are problematic. Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack… Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic. Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples. “Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible ‘puffy’ bare skin exposure. Please avoid commercial identification of actual brand name products on T-shirts. Foreign language on wardrobe will need to be cleared. OBSCENITY OR PARTIALLY SEEN OBSCENITY ON WARDROBE IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR BROADCAST. This as well, pertains to audience members that appear on camera.” Well, there you have it. Do you agree with the guidelines or do you think half the fun has been taken out of the awards ceremony? [Coco Perez]

FASHION CHART: 10 things going up and going down this month

Charting the movements of the ever-evolving world of fashion is no small feat. It’s in. Oh, it’s out now. That’s far too 2012 to be considered for this year, and did you just really say winter coat? Whether we’re considering the size and brand catalogue of the forthcoming Kan-dashian offspring, or just how incomplete we feel every time we look in the mirror to find our eyebrows don’t even come close to Cara’s mega-furry (in a good way) monsters, we thought we’d share February’s fashion ups and downs with you. After all, sharing is so 2013.   GOING UP Senso Qimat booties Have you met the new season-perfect boot? These transitional treaders come in a gorgeous pale grey and are fab for when you want to add a spring feeling to your shoe-drobe, without risking frostbite in open-toe sandals. That Super Bowl outfit Sorry, who was Rubin Singer until Queen Bey stomped around on-stage in his creation during her phenom Super Bowl half-time performance? Body suits are the new obsession, (especially with a booty like Bey’s), and Rubin Singer, the ridiculously handsome, New York-based designer who’s dressed the like of Solange Knowles, Kelly Rowland, Alicia Keys and Lea Michele, is our new one to watch! The Big Browed Brit Beauty takeover (and a whole lotta alliteration) We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: Cara fever has gripped us, and we’re hypnotised by those brows. The new face of Pepe Jeans, scores of SS’13 campaign under her belt and a Vogue cover to boot – does this girl ever stop? Err, fashion month? With New York Fashion Week in full swing and London Fashion Week a mere nine days away, need we say more? (Note: panic stricken facial expression). Fashion Month is upon us once again, so welcome blisters, food-less days […]

High Street: 1 Rita Ora: 0

This week’s been a bit of a stirrer on Planet Fashion, as we brace ourselves for Fashion Month and all the news that unfolds with it. Firstly, the urbanisation of what is supposed to be a copious dose of unadulterated luxury (thanks, Rita!) has led to many a sleepless night, and secondly, the arrival of the High Street on the High fashion runway. They say every writer should be as cynical as is humanly possible in order to really raise his or her voice against the unjust practices of the rapidly rotating (fashion) planet, but I don’t want to be the one who applies the dampener, so to speak. Well, not entirely. Let’s begin with Rita Ora’s recent outing in Le Paree for Couture Fashion Week. We know Jay-Z’s protégée brings her A game in the form of an eclectic dress sense, and equally vivid hair to match, but it was the shocking ‘devaluation’ of an uber-luxe item, namely the Hermès Birkin bag that left me in a destructive-to-luxury daze. Stepping out in moon boot-equivalent sneakers, multi-patch Adidas trousers and neon knit is bad enough, but throwing one of the most revered handbags into the mix doesn’t sit well with me. Although Rita’s affinity for carrying a Birkin with almost every ensemble she appears in is pretty evident, this isn’t the catwalk-ready definition of sport-luxe I was thinking of. But on an ever so slightly more sartorially positive note, Rita brought the Boy (see what I did there) to the front row at the Chanel Couture show in Paris, teaming Wang boots with a floaty dress, topped off with a red leather jacket. Not a huge fan of this (again) try-hard ensemble (the red lips were the only necessity), but then again, isn’t that the only idea that underscores most of […]

H&M to show during Paris Fashion Week next month!

Looks like the high street is slowly but surely taking over Fashion Week. Not only is Rihanna debuting her River Island collection during London Fashion Week, but it was announced a few days ago that Whistles will also be showing a collection in our fine Capital. And now comes the announcement H&M will be showing its first catwalk show in eight years during Paris Fashion Week. Pretty cool, right? We can expect to see 25 new looks from the H&M autumn/winter 2013 collection make their way down the Parisian catwalk. “We felt excited about the collection and we really wanted to show it,” said Håcan Andersson, a spokesperson for the Swedish retailer. The show hasn’t quite made the official Paris Fashion Week schedule, but it’s supposed to go ahead on February 27th at the Musée Rodin, so put it in your diaries. And if previous H&M shows are anything to go by (Kanye West and John Legend performed at the last one!) we know we’re going to be in for a treat! Are you pleased to see Fashion Week go more high street than high fashion? [WWD] [Image]

5 of our all-time favourite Elie Saab dresses

A name synonymous with red carpet dressing so ethereal, it leaves us speechless every Awards Season; Elie Saab’s designs are a sartorial dream come true. The Lebanese couturier has dressed everyone from Nicole Kidman to Halle Berry and Jennifer Lopez in his elegantly refined, red-carpet ready gowns, so we don’t expect his bucket list to be very long! But even with all his striking designs on the super-bods of every super-being to reside in the Hollywood hills, Elie Saab only became a household name just over a decade ago, when Halle Berry wore one of his creations to pick up the ‘Best Actress’ award at the 2002 Oscars for her role in Monster’s Ball. And since, the designer has clearly cast an unbreakable spell over A-list town – we can’t get through a red-carpet soirée without a Saab creation making a scene-stealing appearance! Lea Michele in the designer’s crystal-encrusted halter neck design at last week’s Golden Globes was a perfect example of the atelier master’s jaw-drop effect. In honour of one of most reputed names rolling off the tongues of the rich and famous in celeb and fashionville, here are five of our all time favourite Elie Saab dresses for you to drool over. Beyonce, 2007 Golden Globes In Bey’s, or should we say Destiny’s Childs terms, this gown was definitely Bootylicious! Form fitting, it showed off the singer’s assets to perfection, and a plunging neckline and sequin embellishment oozed glamour. Halle Berry, 2002 Oscars This was the look that launched a thousand gowns, and put Elie Saab on the red carpet map. Halle Berry picked up the biggest gong of the night, and looked equally outstanding! A sheer, embroidered body contrasted against a merlot-hued skirt spelt perfection; a defining and unforgettable look, even 11 years on! Rihanna, 2012 American Music […]

Anne Hathaway underwhelms on Harper’s Bazaar UK February

Not the best way to start the year in terms of magazine covers, but what can you do. While there’s no denying that Anne Hathaway is the perfect choice of cover star for February (especially with the release of Les Miserables just around the corner) we can’t help but feel a little bit disappointed with the David Slijper lensed image Harper’s Bazaar UK chose for the front cover. Something about the camera angle and Anne’s pose is a bit eerie and isn’t quite doing it for us. Nevertheless, what the cover lacks the rest of the magazine makes up for in terms of the stunning designer wardrobe Anne is sporting, as she is modelling garments from the likes of Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton and Alexander McQueen to name but a few. The actress gives a great interview too, comparing herself to Rihanna and claiming she doesn’t have any “sex appeal” – although we beg to differ! ”I’m not Rihanna; I’m not cool,” Anne said. ”When people come up to me in the street, they often want a hug not a photo, and they want that because they like my work.” “I was seen as this bizarre-world good-girl cartoon that I in no way identified with – very vanilla, very sweet, very accessible and not interesting.” We have to disagree with that last part! Harper’s Bazaar’s February issue is out today, so hurry to those newsagents before it sells out!

Style Awards: Top 10 best dressed celebs of 2012

It’s safe to say, 2012 has been a positively chaotic year on many accounts: stealthy fashion musical chairs; the news of a 2013 royal tot, surprise (read: secret) weddings and a fair amount of heartbreak ensued. But one thing far more exciting than all of these juicy prospects combined is the FASHION we witnessed. From Miranda Kerr’s uber-stylish taxi-to-hotel hop, all endless, perfectly bronzed legs and the hottest off-duty ensembles imaginable, to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s ravishing red carpet looks, not forgetting some equally hot lingerie! Diane Kruger left us in a state of fash-induced hyperventilation, thanks to that Christian Dior couture gown whilst Emma Stone really established herself as the unturned stone (excuse the sorrowful pun) of fashion: she.looked.HOT. From Tom Ford to Trapstar, Rihanna has us on trend-led tenterhooks with every outfit she stepped out in, and Alexa, well, she’s just too stylish to even discuss, right? It was the probably the hardest thing we had to do – alongside trying to remember to use Saint Laurent instead of Yves Saint Laurent, and digesting news of R-Patz and  K-Stew’s brief split whilst admiring her red carpet looks – but choosing our 10 best dressed celebs of 2012 was a limiting task. After much thought, picking and choosing, editing and loudly conversing (read: arguing) over frills, hems and necklines, we’ve whittled it down to our Top 10. Here’s to 2012’s best dressed ladies…. Taylor Swift Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Rihanna Miranda Kerr Kristen Stewart Emma Stone Diane Kruger Blake Lively Anne Hathaway Alexa Chung Who was your best dressed of 2012?

The Olsen twins and Alexander Wang among Forbes’ Brightest Fashion Stars

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are never far from a Forbes list at the end of each year, as the twin sisters who started out as child actresses have made themselves a nice little fortune (putting it lightly) with their business empire – a lot of which has been in fashion. Therefore it doesn’t surprise us to learn that they have been named in the Forbes ‘Top 30 Under 30 brightest fashion and art stars of 2012’ list. Congrats girls, well deserved as always. And now onto someone else who has had a pretty epic year in fashion himself… Alexander Wang. The list wouldn’t really have been complete without the designer who has been chosen to take over and potentially revamp Balenciaga would it? Forbes didn’t just celebrate all things fashion though, as former About a Boy and Skins actor Nicholas Hoult, and young actress Chloe Moretz were named as ones to watch, while singers such as Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, our very own Adele, and even the One Direction boys were name-checked in the ‘music world’s brightest young stars’ category. Click here to check out all the people who were recognised for their great  achievements this year. Is there anyone you think was left out? Let us know!

Jennifer Lawrence voted the ‘world’s most desirable woman’

She blew us away in The Hunger Games and all her respective promotional work on chat shows, red carpets and magazine covers, so it comes as no surprise to learn that Jennifer Lawrence has been voted the world’s most desirable woman in a poll conducted by men’s mag Askmen.com. Congratulations to the 22-year-old actress are most definitely in order! “Overall, there’s a sense that she’s a little more authentic than other actors,” said James Bassil, the editor-in-chief of the mag. “She’s fresh because we haven’t seen her all over the gossip pages for the past three or four years.” Jennifer beat stiff competition from the likes of Mila Kunis, Kate Upton and Rihanna (who respectively came second, third and fourth). Sofia Vergara, who was last year’s winner, slipped down to 12th  place. Click here to check out what other ladies made the list, and to find out how Emma Stone, Miranda Kerr, Blake Lively and our very own Cheryl Cole ranked. Do you agree with the voters? [Daily Mail]

Watch the Victoria’s Secret Angels lip sync to Justin Bieber as the show makes its UK TV debut!

Lots to get exited about this morning, so let’s get cracking. Firstly, we’d just like to say how extremely excited we are to reveal that the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will be broadcast here in the UK for the very first time. We’ve previously had to stream the show from the good old internet, which we never complained about, but it’s always nice to have the option to watch something on the telly-box right? The show will debut in the US later today (which means we can still stream it via the internet) but it will also come to UK’s E! (channel 151 for all you Sky viewers) on Saturday December 22nd at 9pm. Get the popcorn in and make a night of it! This wonderful news has officially got us in the VS spirit, hence why were are also sharing another video of the Angels lip synching with you. Last year the models mimed their way through Moves Like Jagger, but this year it’s all about Justin Bieber. Makes sense seeing as he performed at the show alongside Rihanna and Bruno Mars! Watch Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio, Candice Swanepoel, Karlie Kloss and pals lip sync and throw some petty impressive shapes in the video below. What do you think? Best one yet? http://youtu.be/NkOGY112PnM

Five minutes with Lie Sang Bong

With the ‘Gangnam Style’ dance perfected, an array of impressive catwalk collections under his belt and a fashion career spanning nearly three decades over three continents, Lie Sang Bong is certainly a fashion force to be recknoned with. My Fashion Life caught up with the esteemed South Korean designer to talk wardrobe staples, favourite fashion cities and, of course, Gangnam Style. Tell us about the inspiration behind your Spring/Summer 2013 collection The Spring/Summer 2013 collection was inspired by butterflies, which represents transformation. Another source of inspiration was a sense of nostalgia for 60s fashion and my childhood memories; the collection explores retro elements and transforms them into modern shapes and volume. Being one of Korea’s most esteemed designers you started your fashion career in your native country, later moving to Paris. What was this change in fashion culture like for you? When I first started to show my collection in Paris in 2002, it felt like I was starting everything all over again. Although I love Paris and it was always my dream to show at Paris Fashion Week, nothing was easy and I kept asking myself if I should continue to do this or not.  However, after a few seasons, I started to feel more comfortable working there, and fascinated by people who were excited to see my collection. Presenting my collection during Paris Fashion Week was like a dream come true. What are your favourite fashion cities and why? I love Paris, New York, and London the most. Paris has its own tradition and history of fashion that fascinates me; New York is a fun place where new trends are made everyday and London is so creative and funky. In three words, style is… Character, taste and harmony. Tell us more about the Lie Sang Bong woman The Lie Sang Bong […]

Re-introducing the Onesie: Here are our top 5 picks!

When it comes to loungewear, every fashion bod with a discerning eye for style makes concessions. Well, who wouldn’t after witnessing the super-snug existence of the onesie! Verging on fashion’s alternative to Marmite, you’re bound to share a love-hate relationship with the onesie and find yourself asking this repeatedly: Is it appropriate? Is it an adult babygrow? Answer: Yes. But do take its revival with a pinch of salt! Justin Bieber, Rihanna and One(sie) Direction (geddit?) are all fans of the onesie, and even the D-listers, namely the TOWIE cast, have been getting in on the one-piece action. But before you’re swept into the cosy world of onesie-wearing, let’s get some fashion facts straight. Although it maybe all-enveloping, do not mistake the onesie for a jumpsuit! The former is for the potato couch within you who thinks nothing of surviving a weekend on microwave popcorn and watching re-runs of Come Dine with Me whilst scoffing stuffed crust pizza. The latter is to be worn with heels to events that demand a chic overspill of the Seventies. Considering you’re going to be lounging around in it all day, opting for bright colours and wacky prints won’t hurt your style cred, so take a look through our top five picks for a little inspiration and plan that grown up slumber party pronto! 1. Le Breve candy pink lightweight onesie, £69.99 2. Soul Cal Deluxe Fair Isle onesie, £50 3. Grey coloured tiger print onesie, £30 4. Onepiece Nordic pattern onesie, £139 5. Ellie knitted contrast hood striped onesie, £30

What happened at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2012…

Here it is guys, the post you’ve been waiting so patiently for… the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2012 details and pictures! Classic Victoria’s Secret Angel Adriana Lima – who only gave birth a few months ago if you can believe it – kicked off the show by stepping out onto the beautifully decorated catwalk first. An abundance of the most gorgeous, sexiest and expertly selected models then followed her lead until newbie Toni Garrn eventually closed the show once all the Angels and singers had done their thing. And speaking of singers… Bajan sauce-pot Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars provided the musical entertainment for the evening, while Alessandra Ambrosio was given the honour of showcasing this year’s Fantasy bra. What do you think of her efforts below? And as we mentioned earlier this week, this year saw the Victoria’s Secret debut of two of our favourite young British models Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn. We think they did a cracking job bringing a touch of Britishness to the proceedings, and we love how they showcased young, fun and quirky clothes as opposed to just lingerie. Karlie Kloss, who made her VS debut last year, looked like she had been walking on the Victoria’s Secret runway all her life, showcasing a variety of different, diverse but very sexy looks. We can’t get enough of her, and it’s not hard to see why the modelling world can’t either. And obviously all of the classic Victoria’s Secret Angels were present too, with the likes of Miranda Kerr, Candice Swanepoel, Erin Heatherton, Lily Aldridge and Doutzen Kroes being just some of the familiar faces making an appearance. Not only was the show an ultra-glamorous affair, but it was also a pretty charitable one too, as Victoria’s Secret and CBS reportedly donated $1 million […]

First look at the Kardashian Kollection for Dorothy Perkins

Rihanna isn’t the only American babe to come and take over our British high street. The Bajan singer may be working on her own clothing line with River Island, but Kourtney, Kim and Khloe, otherwise known as the Kardashian sisters, are bringing their style to Dorothy Perkins. And it’s now time to take a look at some of the pieces in the rather aptly named “Kardashian Kollection”… This is a really diverse and versatile collection; Kim Kardashian and her sisters have been very smart about ensuring that there’s something in there for everyone. From stylish coats and jackets, to statement bags, to Christmas party-ready dresses to all else in between, this collection seems to have it all. The clothes reportedly reflect each of their characters and their own personal styles, although we know that none of the girls can resist a bit of glam , which is evident in all of the pieces! What do you think of some of our favourite items that we’ve highlighted? We think the dresses are particularly stunning, and we predict they’re going to be pretty flattering too. We all want to achieve that famous Kardashian silhouette! Are you tempted by anything? If you’re a massive fan and want to meet the girls, they will all be at Westfield this Saturday doing signings; the first 500 people to arrive will receive a numbered wristband to be eligible to enter the queue, so set your alarms and head down there early to make sure you don’t miss out! The Kardashian Kollection will be available in selected Dorothy Perkins stores and online from the Thursday November 8th. Shop the Kardashian Kollection now! [Images]

Girls Aloud design their own bracelets for Pandora

In this day and age where popstars come and go and band members chop and change like the wind, sticking together for 10 years is pretty impressive stuff. As well as a celebratory greatest hits album and tour (so excited!!!), the girls have also joined forces to design their own individual bracelets for Pandora! And after a decade  in the limelight, we think it’s safe to say the girls all know a thing or two about fashion and style. Cheryl Cole and Nicola Roberts in particular have dabbled in the fashion biz, with Cheryl working on her own Stylist Pick collection and Nicola taking part in the Styled to Rock TV show with Henry Holland and Rihanna. Cheryl, Sarah Harding, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Strictly Come Dancing’s Kimberley Walsh are each modelling their own designs in the pictures – which look great against their royal blue tops, by the way – but which one has taken your fancy the most? (We’re still talking bracelets here, but feel free to let us know who your fave Girls Aloud member is too!) Each bracelet retails for £279, and you can snap yours up from the official Pandora website right now! [Marie Claire]

Victoria Beckham, Mulberry and more create this year’s Designer Pudsey Bears for Children in Need

It doesn’t seem like a whole year since a host of famous faces and designers created their own Pudsey Bear for Children in Need, does it? Nevertheless, it’s that time of year again, and this time the likes of Alexander McQueen, Mulberry, Victoria Beckham, Burberry, Giles, Henry Holland and our very own fashion Bible British Vogue have all designed their own version of the iconic toy. British Vogue’s Pudsey is made up of some of the most recent as well as some of the most iconic, covers in British Vogue history, with some of the cover stars including Rihanna, Kate Moss, Rachel Weisz, Freja Beha Erichsen, Cheryl Cole, Lana Del Rey, and Emma Watson among others. See how many you can spot! A few of our other favourites include Burberry, Gucci (who ran with the equestrian theme) and Victoria Beckham (who went with a very feminine make-over for Pudsey). We think little Harper will love him! All of the Designer Pudsey bears will be available to view in Selfridges from tomorrow until November 14th, when they will then be auctioned off for Children in Need. Which one is your favourite? Iris Apfel covers Dazed and Confused holding a Tweety Bird cup

Forget the Rihannas and Halle Berrys of the fashion glossy cover world… Iris Apfel is clearly where it’s at! The 91-year-old outspoken fashion legend has been tapped as the cover star of Dazed and Confused’s latest issue, and we’re thrilled to see her rocking one of those 2D Comme Des Garcons designs that we didn’t think anyone other than Lady Gaga would be brave enough to. We have so much love for this lady and the cover – especially the fact that she’s sporting an oversized turban and holding a Tweety Bird cup! Iris also appears in a quirky (read: weird) video, so make sure you head to the official Dazed and Confused website to check it out in all its glory. And of course, to see more bright and colourful pieces modelled by Iris, be sure to pick up the Art issue of the magazine!

Halle Berry turns up the heat for InStyle US November

Even though it’s November and it’s supposed to be getting colder, the cover stars for this month are (red) hotter than ever! First we had Rihanna looking smouldering on American Vogue, and now we have another gorgeous lady in red on the front of a fashion glossy. Yep, Halle Berry is InStyle US’s gorgeous November cover star, flashing her pearly whites and flaunting her enviable figure in a stunning red Calvin Klein Collection dress for photographer Giampaolo Sgura. The 46-year-old actress (yes you did read that right!) opens up about fiancé Olivier Martinez, her changing hairstyles and aging in Hollywood. “Don’t stress about your age or fight it,” she said. “Appreciate the young women who look like you once did, but don’t strive to be like them. You’re moving into a new phase of your life – embrace it. That’s what I hope to do.” Great advice! You can read the rest of Halle’s engaging interview in the November issue of InStyle.

Designer sunglasses: Splendid or a sorry waste?

Accessory shopping, I’d like to think, is my forte. Drawn far too easily to a just-landed bag or the latest crop of eye-popping statement jewellery pieces; during a financially destructive trip to Selfridges, I’ll happily make allowances for an unnecessary accessory investment from my rent fund. But there’s a particular accessory category I haven’t quite warmed to, yet; sunglasses, and the hefty price tag that accompanies them. I may sound rather fickle, especially after declaring a soft spot for unnecessary expenditure, but standard looking sunnies that cost the equivalent of one month’s food allowance aren’t worth starving for. It confuses me that people are willing to spend a questionable sum of money on an item so prone to damage or loss, and with sunglasses becoming a permanent fixture in daywear looks, the fashionable population is increasingly treating sunglasses as an investment purchase – but, instead happily snapping up near seven pairs a year! The recent surge in luxe eyewear brands has afforded this previously seasonal accessory category cult status. A lizard-trimmed cat eye version by Linda Farrow Luxe will set you back a palm tingling £345, whilst Finest Seven’s 14 carat white gold-plated aviator sunnies will see you part with a meaty sum of £645. Fashion Editors (most notably La Wintour) have always seen the sunny side (pardon the pun) to recession-inducing eyewear, including the likes of Kanye West and Rihanna, often papped sunglasses-clad, indoors, past midnight; but sadly, we’re not all blessed with a budget of Niagara proportions. That said, it doesn’t mean I’d rule out applying my tried and tested high-low method to sunglasses shopping. Partial to snapping up pocket-friendly, on-trend eyewear at Topshop and Asos, thanks to their extensive collection of cat eye and round frame sunnies, it also works well to purchase a high end version […]

Amanda Seyfried and Dianna Agron rock Miu Miu for the PFW show

Blonde cuties Amanda Seyfried and Glee’s Dianna Agron were sitting pretty on the Miu Miu FROW yesterday, and we reckon that both girls looked gorgeous in their respective Miu Miu ensembles. We’ve seen a few ladies rock the red tux recently, namely Blake Lively and Rihanna, but it was Amanda’s turn to give it a go … and we think she nailed it! Do we think she gave Mrs Reynolds and Ri-Ri a run for their money? We’re going to say “yes” purely because we admire her for being brave enough to try the dark, gothic lipstick – which she pulled off with complete and utter ease! While Amanda went for vampy sex-goddess, Dianna’s outfit was more on the adorable side, as she looked like she stepped right out of a time machine from the 60s. She’s a versatile dresser and that’s exactly what we like to see from the young Hollywood stars. Again, the purple tights and beehive hair could have looked wrong on so many people, but thankfully Dianna isn’t one of them! Who’s your fave?

Headgear du jour: The Baseball Cap

Hats off to fashion’s recent revival of headgear, in particular the baseball cap. The humble headpiece hasn’t been this lauded since the (stylistically questionable) 80s, and fashion designers are taking a particular liking to it, as they imagine what we want to adorn our heads with, hidden away in their ateliers. Although our love affair with the baseball cap started on the S/S’12 runways, and Olympics fever that gripped us this summer certainly had a part to play; Autumn/Winter ’12 also offered the cap in copious amounts, and varied versions, sitting atop beautifully constructed outfits other than a baseball jersey and track pants tucked into socks. Catwalk cap approval came in the form of multicolour lattice print caps at Lacoste; raised front baker boy caps with mesh inserts and snapbacks at DSquared2 and fun-injected leather versions in red and black, emblazoned with slogans such as ‘Ride It’ on upturned rims at House of Holland. But it’s not only the big names in fashion that approve. The celeb world’s casual adoption of the cap has elevated its status to new heights; with the likes of Rihanna, Jessie J and Rita Ora preferring to wear caps by street names such as Trapstar, Boy London and Obey with high end looks, adding a street-luxe feel to its previously sporty appeal. And now that fashion has had its way with the baseball cap you can expect it to be available in a multitude of prints, doused in all forms of embellishment and worn with everything from a military trend shift to an oversized tweed coat. To celebrate the comeback of the baseball cap, we’ve picked our top 5 favourite versions to suit every budget. 2 Tone Cap, £15, available at Asos Lanvin Curly Lambskin Cap, £420, available at Matches Leopard Print Baseball Cap, £15, […]

Would you emulate Rita Ora’s style?

Eclectic, charming, culture clasher: terms that are probably most fitting to describe Jay Z’s latest recruit. We’re talking about 21-year old, Roc Nation-signed, embellished beanie toting singer Rita Ora who, from Kosovo-via-London, has carved out for herself a niche by way of melodiously catchy tracks and an uncanny resemblance to superstar Rihanna – her stateside sibling, some may say. Crooning alongside the musical elite on super hit tracks such as “Hot Right Now” and “R.I.P”, Rita’s note perfect vocals aren’t the only thing to have caught our attention. Her mash-up approach to dressing teeters on street-meets-elegance (a Hermès Birkin paired casually with Nike Air Jordan trainers), deeming it cool to tear up the style rulebook and dressing, rather than dancing, to the beat of her own drum. With her trademark blond hair, crimson lips and infectious wide smile, Rita’s style is often likened to another star who rather likes to make waves in the sartorial sea. Rihanna’s urban-inspired, fierce power dressing ways have seemingly rubbed off on Rita, (the love of tattoos; floral trouser suits; sporty footwear and, of course, a shared penchant for piling on the bling and razor sharp talons). Even Vogue online intervened for fashion purposes (a token of approval, maybe?), as they featured Rita on the Today I’m Wearing photo blog, where she showcased her eccentric style; a mix of Louboutins, NY Yankees jerseys, and a particularly bright Annie Phillips fur scarf. But she isn’t the only celeb to step into the limelight with this unusual blend of labels and looks. A pre-makeunder Jessie J was partial to an eye-hurting ensemble, and Lily Allen did the whole dress with sneakers thing back in 2006. But the question I find asking myself is this: is Rita’s style a genuine depiction of her personal choices, or is it a […]

London Fashion Week SS13: Highlights from all five days!

So we’ve officially waved goodbye to yet another season of London Fashion Week and we’re left with mixed emotions. We are partly welling up at the thought of leaving Somerset House and the surrounding fashionable areas for another season, while the other part of us is looking forward to kicking the heels off and slipping back into those trusty and far more comfortable flats. Somerset House cobbles that make it impossible to run to shows – we will not miss you! We won’t be forgetting the spring/summer 2013 season at London Fashion Week anytime soon though… here are our thoughts on the whole experience: Day 1 was our busiest, as not only were we tent-hopping in Somerset House and dashing to the Vauxhall Fashion Scout to check out the emerging designer talent too, but we also headed backstage to quite a few shows. We were presented with elegant, wearable and glamorous collections courtesy of Sass and Bide, Bora Aksu and Corrie Nielsen, as well as more dramatic looks thanks to Fyodor Golan and Carlotta Actis Barone. We loved the ballet dancing at Carlotta too – we might petition for more shows to have dance routines… what say you? Day 2 was a bit of a mix as we got to see some rising talent along with the big guns. The forties were back thanks to Tahir Sultan, which is definitely a trend we’re more than happy to get on board with. Sequins and fairy-tale inspired looks appear to be one of the big, recurring trends of the spring/summer 2013 season, which is exactly what Jeffrey Michael reiterated with his “from the water” collection. Hooray for fantasy! And of course House of Holland was as spectacular as ever – casual, bright, bold and with lots of attitude to boot. We wouldn’t […]

6 celebrity style icons worthy of their own clothing label

There is a long list of contemporary stylish ladies who are equally as eye catching as the Hepburn’s, Kelly’s and Monroe’s of yesteryear. These ladies have an ‘until death do us part’ kinda relationship with fashion, and their extensive wardrobes, impeccable taste and dedication to looking stylish knows no bounds. So to celebrate the women at the fore of fashionable happenings and their enviable sense of style, we’ve decided to chart our top 6 style icons… Rihanna We think RiRi’s sartorial reputation precedes her. Yes, she has a penchant for expletive-laden footwear (cue: X Factor performance in those trainers), wearing clothes emblazoned with illegal substances and often pushes the limits of fashion to an unimaginable edge, but she never fails to carry off her eccentric wardrobe. High Street, high fashion our outrageously high heels worn with leather shorts; she really is the only girl in the world who can execute it with perfection! Fave 2012 fashion moment: In Givenchy Haute Couture at the 2012 BRIT Awards, Olivia Palermo Gracing front row at headline-hitting fashion shows; girlfriend to a HOT model and the owner of a wardrobe over spilling with sartorial perfection, Olivia Palermo is a no-brainer on our Style Icons list! The flawless beauty, who fronts the cover of the Instyle UK October issue, revealed she likes ‘walking out of the house feeling fully pulled together.’ Something she sure has down to a t! The queen of nonchalant off-duty dressing (she even makes dog walking look stylish!), Olivia is often spotted in impeccable style staples, including a well cut jacket, a statement (not ‘It’) bag and wow-inducing heels. Olivia’s timeless style is easy to translate, and appeals to a wider population – a large chunk of which definitely likes to look fashionably ‘pulled together’. Fave 2012 fashion moment: Rocking the peplum trend […]

Why we can’t get enough of French label Sandro!

A French label always gets us excited: Gallic charm; insouciance in the way the clothes carry themselves, and above all, that just-arrived-from-Paree feeling we get every time we slip into something of francais heritage. Sandro is that label. A Parisian fashion house whose clothes radiate insouciance with a razor sharp edge. It’s Emanuelle Alt, after she’s spent a week living with Rihanna; sharp, sleek tailoring with contrasting, outstanding street detail that has us wanting to devour the entire collection as if it were fashion chips. Working with a palette of electric blue, grey, bottle green and Bordeaux for autumn/winter 2012, Sandro offers style and pocket-conscious shoppers the perfect, mid-market sartorial antidote to the pricey, high end Fall collections that are oh-so-desirable, yet financially destructive! Denim has been fashioned in delectable variations, ranging from shock-inducing block colours, to leopard print and boasting eyelets lace and zip details to add an interesting edge. The Sandro girl doesn’t compromise style for comfort, instead merging them together and wearing it in the form of an oversized chambray shirt, or a cosily chic lambswool, angora and cashmere mix sweater. Blouses, shirts and vests come emblazoned with circus prints, tiger heads speckled complementarily amongst polka dots and a russet coloured silkscreen top that has us drooling at its high end look, high street price! Outerwear and accessories are hot Fall favourites, too, as the Sandro girl embraces an uber-luxe fur-trimmed leather jacket, coats boasting military details and leather-trimmed mannish coats in melange tweed, whilst accessories take a functional turn in the form of zipped, wristlet clutch bags and roomy, embossed leather satchels in want-now hues. Shoes for Fall, you’ll be pleased to know, don’t fall into the blister-causing category. A moccasin suede studded slipper touches on the super-comfortable slipper trend, while Sandro’s classic sneaker, the Albatross’ […]

A round up of the best dressed celebs at the MTV Video Music Awards 2012

Could there have been any more events that went on last night? Not only were some of the biggest and most stylish cities in the world taking part in Fashion’s Night Out, the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards were also happening in Los Angeles. As well as providing celebs another excuse to glam up, get merry and enjoy each other’s company, the VMAs are to celebrate music and the great videos that come with it. However, that’s not to say that the fashion is any less fabulous. Therefore it should come as no surprise to learn that the red carpet was bursting with stylish famous faces, with the likes of Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and Emma Watson sitting pretty on our best dressed list. There was no obvious recurring dress theme this time around, but it’s safe to say that the girls and boys dressed to impressed. It was tough to narrow down our favourites this year, but we’ve tried our best – and don’t forget to have your say in the poll at the bottom! Are you a fan of Rita Ora’s floral jumpsuit?

We know that Rita Ora has often been referred to as the UK’s answer to Rihanna, but we think the singer is seeking inspiration from the Barbadian pop princess in her wardrobe as well as her music. A few months ago, Ri-Ri wore an Emilio Pucci silk jumpsuit that looked more like a pair of pyjamas (albeit luxury ones!) and now Rita Ora is getting in on the clothes-that-look-like-sleepwear action too. Don’t get us wrong, we love a good jumpsuit and playsuit, but don’t think this is the most flattering for a 21-year-old with an incredible figure. We do applaud her for putting her own stamp on her outfits though – we’re quite tempted to snap up a pair of those sunnies, but not sure we could pull them off without the bling and a record contract to match. What say you? [Image]

Before and after: Celebrities with and without their hair extensions…

Hair extensions can be a wonderful thing. They can give you instantly more luscious locks by adding volume and length to your limp, lifeless and lame hair. However, they also run the danger of damaging your hair (look to Britney Spears and Naomi Campbell for proof) so they’re not without their downsides. The A-listers swear by them as they can be a Godsend once they’ve gone for a dramatic chop and don’t want to wait a few years to whip their hair back and forth Willow Smith style, (we predict Anne Hathaway might befriend the extensions once all herLes Mis duties are over) but we can’t help but think some of the ladies look better without a full mane of fake hair attached to their heads. Take a look at some of Tinsel Town’s hair extension lovers, and let us know whether you think they should stick to what God gave them or continue their love affair with longer locks. And if you’d like to try out a new look, here are some great places to get hair extensions in London and if you’re in the mood for going even more glam we also recommend these great destinations for eyelash extensions in London too. Spotlight on: Simone Rocha

As London Fashion Week is fast approaching (where has the time gone?!) we thought we’d put this week’s designer spotlight on someone who made one heck of an impression last season…  and that person is Dublin-born Simone Rocha. She may have inherited her eye for fashion and detail from her designer father John Rocha, but Simone definitely got to where she is today on her own merits. Her work is instantly recognised as being a more modern extension of her father’s work, with the use of PVC, lace and metallics in her latest collection proving that she is taking a more contemporary and somewhat masculine route. The 2010 Central Saint Martins graduate only made her London Fashion Week debut when she showed her Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter 2011 collections with Fashion East, but has fast become one of the designers we are looking forward to the most this season. And let’s not forget her gorgeous capsule collection for Topshop that launched in September last year, which proves that she is a versatile designer who is just as capable of catering to the high street too. It’s not just us who love Simone Rocha – the celebs can’t seem to get enough of her either, as Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Rita Ora and Lily Cole are just some of her famous fans that have been spotted in her designs. Keep your eyes peeled for her new-season collection; we predict great things!

Rita Ora is ASOS magazine’s September cover girl

We all know that the September issues are the most important of the entire year, so we totally get why the ASOS mag is getting in there early by revealing its cover already.  The ASOS September issue has none other than Britain’s answer to Rihanna Rita Ora on the cover, and as a result, it’s bold, tough, fierce and downright fabulous. All of our recent favourite trends are evident on the cover: denim, studs, prints and the over-all rock chick image, with lots of attitude to boot. On paper, the mish-mash of materials shouldn’t really work as it’s a bit OTT, but on Rita, it seems to be doing wonders! We think she was the perfect choice of cover star, and we can’t wait for it to come through our door so we can browse the editorial pics too!

Love or Hate: Rita Ora at SiriusXM

Singer-songwirter Rita Ora, i.e. Britain’s answer to Rihanna, stopped by SiriusXM last week in a very vibrant, loud outfit which divided a few opinions at MFL HQ. It’s a little bit all over the shop as it offers a plethora of different looks all rolled into one. You have your glamour courtesy of the bold red lips and loose waves, your grunge/skater by way of the comfy trainers and skater skirt, your typical r’n’b artist thanks to the jacket and even more glamour thanks to those sparkly earrings that have definitely not gone unnoticed. There are a lot of ‘in your face’ parts of Rita’s look, but for us, the sparkly hoops (which we found out were diamond earrings from Jacob & Co) stood out the most. If you have a spare $78,000 casually lying around, you could snap up some for yourself right here…) We want to know whether you approve of the way Rita’s look was put together or whether it was all a bit ‘hot mess’ for your liking. Opinions below… [Images]

Five minutes with…PPQ

With a client portfolio that counts Rihanna, Alexa Chung and Sienna Miller as loyal fans, Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker – the dynamic driving force behind the directional label, PPQ – must be doing something right. Awarded with being responsible for ‘spearheading the drainpipe jean revolution’, Amy and Percy took this pioneering approach across the realm of fashion, marrying it seamlessly with music. The design duo run a record label by the name of 1234 Records, and host the annual sell-out 1234 Shoreditch festival. My Fashion Life caught up with the creative twosome to talk favourite holiday destinations, music, and of course, fashion. Describe a typical working day in the life of the PPQ dynamic duo. Amy: A typical day consists of designing across several collections with responses to factories or meetings with suppliers or pattern cutters. Percy: Generally coordinating show details or planning overseas trips to meet buyers and press. With what inspirations in mind was the PPQ spring/summer 2012 collection conceived? Amy: Inspiration came from one of our archive prints, so SS’12 has a retro feel to it – It’s very nostalgic yet fresh and upbeat for summer. Percy: It was great to look back at some of the iconic pieces we have made in our 10 years. Tell us about your favourite holiday destination? Amy: It’s a semi-difficult question as a lot of the places we travel to are work related – even though they are good. I think the best place I go to where I leave my drawing behind is the North of Ibiza, but you never stop having ideas or being inspired. Other highlights are Antigua and Japan. Percy: Mauritius was a great autumn break at the end of last season. No jet lag and the most chilled out staff on the planet which […]
