Trainers voted the nation’s favourite footwear!

If you hate wearing heels because you can’t take the pain on the balls of your feet, the blisters, or the fact that it takes you twice as long to get anywhere in them, then we’re here to tell you that you aren’t alone. You aren’t alone because trainers are in actual fact the nation’s favourite footwear. Does this news surprise you? In a survey conducted by eBay, it was discovered that heels are out and trainers are in. And it looks like trainer-lovers have Rihanna to thank for it, as she has been voted “sneaker icon of the year”. And we all know how influential Rihanna is… The news may have surprised us a few years ago, but since we have been seeing more and more trainers on the catwalk (thank you, Chanel) and on some of the trendiest A-listers such as Cara Delevingne and Rita Ora, we’ve barely batted an eyelid. So, from feet across the nation, thank you ladies! [Glamour] [Image]

Our top picks from the Alexander Wang for H&M collection!

The entire lookbook for the Alexander Wang for H&M collection has finally dropped – and it’s pretty exciting to say the least! We showed you a picture of Rihanna rocking a pair of leggings and a crop top from the collection which looked fabulous on the Bajan singer (most things do!) but made us worry slightly about whether we had the right abs and derrieres for the collection. Flicking through the lookbook had a few tense moments, but we can happily confirm that there are lots of very forgiving pieces in the collection too – phew! The collection doesn’t launch until November 6th, so you’ll have some time to pick out your faves and save up for them. You might want to take the day off work to queue outside your local H&M shop, as we don’t think the pieces are going to stick around for long! Here are our top picks from the collection: Mesh jumper, £79.99 This mesh jumper looks like it came from Alexander Wang’s mainline collection, so it’s an absolute bargain at just under £80. This will keep you warm during the frosty weather while maintaining that cool edge that Alexander Wang is all about. Success! Leather trousers, £179.99 The leather trousers in your current wardrobe may only be reserved for your skinny days as they’re so tight and unforgiving, but these ones from the Alexander Wang for H&M collection are anything but. Perfect to wear on relaxed days or with a crop top if you’re feeling brave and want to juxtapose them with something a little more fitted and revealing! Heeled boot, £149.99 If you’re after an investment piece, or even a hard-working one, then the heeled boots tick all the boxes. They’ll keep you warm, dry, add some height, and work perfectly with almost […]

The Simplest Things Make The Biggest Difference: How A Top Can Transform Your Outfit

Stop being such a plain Jane and have fun with your tops. Switch from plain into bohemian chic, sexy seductress, or sweet and simple. However, simple does not mean boring. There are a ton of ways to transform your plain blue jeans and shirt outfit into a fun-loving one. Play with prints Nothing spells fun than polka dots. Choose a color you love and have fun with the sizes and styles. Aztec print tops create a Mexican vibe that can be best paired with denim cropped vest or just plain dark blue jeans. Leave the stripes to the boring ones and play with psychedelic cuts and accents. Get in touch with the kid in you and sport a tee dotted with mini cupcakes lollipops or even teddy bears. The key is to have fun! Play with colors White is the staple color. It is also quite boring. Black is the most flexible with the added benefit that it has a slimming effect. However, just plain blacks can make you fade into the background. Pop out of the crowd by wearing a hot pink baby tee or a blue shirt that reminds you of sky just after it rained. Dabble in some pale oranges and pinks and pair with accessories in a darker hue. Experiment with greens and blues. When wearing two colors together, check the color wheel if they are complementary colors. If they are, then the colors will not clash even though you wear them together. Be bold and wear violet with some green. Just don’t go overboard so it doesn’t take away from the attention towards you. Play with textures Pair some light and cotton tank top with denim vest. Wear a leather vest over a simple white tee. Go all out and get some with metal studs […]

London Fashion Week SS15 highlights from Burberry, Tom Ford, Christopher Kane and more!

There were two surprises on the Burberry Prorsum catwalk yesterday afternoon. One – the absence of heels. And two – the absence of Cara Delevingne. Instead, the show was closed by Bradley Cooper’s very lucky and very gorgeous girlfriend Suki Waterhouse – a sign that she is becoming the new Cara perhaps? – while Cara herself joined the likes of Kate Moss and other A-listers on the front row. Do you think she had catwalk envy and FOMO? Elsewhere in London, we saw a very rock ‘n’ roll collection from Tom Ford, who definitely pulled out all the stops for his London Fashion Week show. Heels and stockings were high, and hemlines were low and practically non-existent; it was dark, it was daring, it was provocative, it was overtly sexual – it was Tom Ford in a nutshell! It wasn’t all sordid outfits that Rihanna and Miley Cyrus would be fighting over though, as there was an element of 70s glam rock in there too thanks to the flared sparkly gold trousers – possibly our favourite piece from the entire collection! Take a look at the rest of our highlights from London Fashion Week below and let us know what you think of the latest collections to debut… Burberry Tom Ford Roksanda Christopher Kane

Nude pics of Jennifer Lawrence and other celebs leak after iCloud hack

Another day, another controversial hacking scandal; and this time it looks like Jennifer Lawrence and a host of other female celebs are the victims. Apparently some nude photos of our beloved Jennifer Lawrence have been leaked after an iCloud hack. The pictures were posed on a 4chan thread in an attempt to earn bitcoins – but we won’t be posting them or linking to the thread for obvious reasons… “This is a flagrant violation of privacy,” a spokesperson told Buzzfeed. “The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence.” And it doesn’t look like she is alone either, as it’s emerged that Kate Upton, Ariana Grande, Victoria Justice, Selena Gomez, and Rihanna (among so many others) have also had their privacy violated. However, many of the celebs affected are disputing the validity of the supposed ‘nude’ pics, with Victoria Justice taking to Twitter to assure her fans that her pictures aren’t real… “These so called nudes of me are FAKE people. Let me nip this in the bud right now. *pun intended*,” she Tweeted. Real or not, we don’t think any of these ladies are going to take this hack lying down. We doubt this will be the last we year of this latest hacking scandal, so we’ll keep you posted when more information comes to light. [Independent]

Kendall Jenner drops her last name

We told you just a few weeks ago that Kendall Jenner – daughter of Kris and Bruce Jenner and half-sister to Kourtney, Khloe and Kim Kardashian – thought her famous family hindered her modelling career. Well, instead of just banning sister Kim and the rest of the Kardashian/Jenner clan from her catwalk shows, she has now gone one step further to disassociate herself from them… and that’s by dropping her last name altogether. Yep, Kendall will now join the likes of the one-named-wonders like Beyonce, Cher and Rihanna, and be known as just “Kendall”. Interesting, no? Do you think this new name will catch on? We wonder what Kardashian/Jenner matriarch Kris Jenner had to say about this… no doubt we’ll see or hear some sort of reference to it on a new episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians soon. The influence of Hollywood glamour isn’t what it used to be

There were times when just about all of the world’s most glamorous women were to be found in and around Hollywood. The movie industry was like a magnet for young girls intent on becoming stars, but in recent times the allure of the film capital of the planet has waned considerably. The question now is will it ever be as popular again? Glamorous icons of the last 100 years or so included some of Hollywood’s biggest and most influential stars. From Paulette Goddard and Tallulah Bankhead to Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, they sashayed across the silver screen and captivated millions in the process. The world watched and the world listened. The allure of these superstars helped to sell everything from designer clothing to cosmetics, not to mention movie tickets, of course. Men wanted to be with them and women wanted to be them, and it seemed at one point that the only way to fame and fortune for women was by making sure they were spotted in Tinseltown. In recent decades, however, many of the world’s most glamorous ladies have come from the world of television and music. One look at those hitting the headlines in the celebrity magazines and advertising products like lip gloss and mineral foundation is enough to show you that Hollywood’s influence is beginning to disappear. Same destination as ever, but a different route to get there A list of the most iconic women in the world of fashion at the moment includes the likes of Victoria Beckham, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Rihanna, all of whom are known for their music as much as for their dress sense. It’s difficult to see any of the latest movie stars ever managing to achieve such worldwide fame as this quartet. In a similar vein, many more […]

Missing model Ataui Deng found in NYC hospital

Ataui Deng, who has been missing for 12 days, has finally been found. The New York based Sudanese model was found in hospital last night, and although it’s being reported that she is safe, it’s not yet known whether she is well or even why she was in hospital in the first place. Rihanna, who used the model for her River Island ad campaigns (top left), was one of the famous faces to raise the alarm on her disappearance, asking her fans and social media followers to help find her. Before being found in an NYC hospital, she was last seen at a nightclub with her boyfriend, actor and PR Grant Monohon… “We walked out of the club together. She didn’t say anything. She just left and I expected her to come back and she didn’t,” he told the New York Post. “She’s the most gorgeous soul, she’s the sweetest woman. She’s just acting irregular lately. “It’s not irregular for her not to come back for a day or two. On the third day I was getting really worried… She’s been missing for too long. I’m terrified. It’s been crazy.” Luckily for Grant and everyone else, Ataui has now been found. We don’t know whether we will ever hear the full the story of what happened to her over the past two weeks, but the important thing is that she’s been found. [Telegraph]

Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing actually loves his work being copied…

Tom Ford and Roberto Cavalli are just two of the many designers who have spoken out about their hatred towards ‘copycats’… but Olivier Rousteing’s opinion couldn’t be more different. The Balmain creative director has said that he actually likes seeing his new season designs copied on the high street, and thinks Zara’s pieces in particular are better than his own work. No, really… “I love seeing a Zara window with my clothes mixed with Céline and Proenza Schouler! I think that’s genius,” he said. “It’s even better than what I do! I love the styling, I love the story… I watch the windows always, and it’s genius what they do today. “I’m really happy that Balmain is copied – when I did my Miami collection and we did the black and white checks, I knew they would be in Zara and H&M. But they did it in a clever way – they mixed a Céline shape with my Balmain print! Well done! I love that”. We are partial to an occasional shopping spree in Zara, so we’re glad that one of our favourite designers actually approves of the pieces. After all, there’s nothing better than getting designer inspired pieces for a fraction of the price! Where do you stand? [Independent]

Sponsored Post: Customise your favourite denim with Levi’s!

Forget about Ascot and the World Cup; festival season is just around the corner and we couldn’t be more excited about it if we tried. While trying to get into the festival spirit, we did some vigorous Googling and YouTubing to try and find footage of old musical performances and pics of festival-goers in their coolest outfits, and one thing definitely stood out: the abundance of denim! And not just any denim, mind – old denim! If it looks like it’s on its last legs and needs throwing out, then it’s the perfect festival piece. If it looks like it’s been customised by the wearer and isn’t a generic high street store pair that everyone has in their wardrobes, then it’s the perfect festival piece. You see where we are going with this. Levi’s has cottoned onto the fact that it’s all about customised denim this festival season, so has come up with a pretty cool and exciting initiative. It’s asking all of you to pop into the Levi’s store with your favourite pair of Levi’s (it can be your trusty pair of jeans, a jacket, a shirt, or the ultimate festival essential: the denim hotpant) and let one of the expert in-house tailors get to work on it, and truly customise it so it stands out from the festival crowd. “With denim playing such an fundamental role in people’s wardrobes, the art of customisation and creating products that tell a story, was never more important than it is today,” said Scott Boyd-Errol, tailor at Levi’s Regent Street flagship store. We couldn’t agree with Scott more; you only have to look at the recent catwalks or street style snaps of our favourite A-listers from Cara Delevingne to Rihanna to know that it’s all about looking unique with old, frayed and […]

The CFDA Awards 2014: The best dressed!

So we told you who the big award winners were earlier this morning, but now it’s time to take a look at who the sartorial winners were – the ones who stole the show and our hearts with their outfit choices! As Rihanna was collecting a Style Icon gong, it seemed only right that she make an iconic statement on the red carpet – and that’s exactly what she did in a glittering bespoke Adam Selman ensemble with 216,000 Swarovski crystals. Precise! Also impressing on the CFDA red carpet were Blake Lively (no surprises there, especially following her Cannes Film Festival style triumphs), supermodel extraordinaire Heidi Klum, Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o, and a gorgeous Olivia Wilde who still has that pregnant glow despite giving birth a few months ago. Motherhood clearly agrees with her! Take a look at the rest of our best-dressed celebs below, and let us know who gets your ultimate vote in the comments below or on Twitter. Joseph Altuzarra named CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year! (Plus all the other winners!)

It was a big night in New York last night, as the 2014 CFDA Awards took place at the famous Lincoln Centre ready to honour some of the highest achievers in fashion. We’ll get straight down to business and reveal that the highly anticipated Womenswear Designer of the Year award went to the one and only Joseph Altuzarra; he beat off stiff competition from both Alexander Wang and Marc Jacobs which really does speak volumes. Former Womenswear Designer of the Year winners Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen once again walked away with an accolade at this year’s ceremony, as they bagged the Accessories Designer of the Year award for The Row. Nice work, ladies. And as we told you a few months ago, Rihanna was honoured with the Fashion Icon award, while Tom Ford went home with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. A huge congratulations to each every one of the nominees and winners (click here to see the full list!) for their gargantuan achievements in the world of fashion. ‘Til next year!

MAC to launch make-up collection inspired by Marge Simpson

MAC has collaborated with everyone from Rihanna to Miss Piggy, and we’re actually pretty excited to announce that its latest collaboration is with none other than… drumroll please… The Simpsons. To coincide with the show’s 25th birthday (doesn’t that make you feel old?!) MAC has teamed up with The Simpsons for a limited edition make-up collection inspired by the animated family’s matriarch, Marge Simpson. While no further details of the collaboration have been released, we predict that at least one shade of bold red lippie will feature in the collection as Marge is seldom seen without a fresh lick of scarlet lipstick when she puts her gladrags on. Our money is also on some eyeshadow shades complementary to her bright blue hair. The collection is slated to launch in September later this year, so we’ll hopefully have some more info nearer the time. Watch this space! [WWD]

The Met Gala 2014: The best dressed!

All the big names in fashion, film, and music gathered at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City last night, for the highly anticipated Met Gala! This year, the museum was honouring Charles James, and the dress-code was a very simple (albeit slightly “boring” according to Marc Jacobs) “white tie and decorations”. Anyone familiar with the work of Charles James would know that elegant eveningwear was his thing, so they wouldn’t have gone wrong by donning the finest couture pieces with some elegant jewels. There were many ladies who absolutely nailed their looks, while some probably should have stayed home. Stella McCartney had a big moment on the red carpet, dressing the likes of Rihanna and Reese Witherspoon so flawlesslessly for the event, in two very different but equally stunning dresses. Rihanna went for her signature sexy look, while Reese was a vintage glamour goddess. Selena Gomez also wowed on the red carpet for us, looking very mature for just 21 years old in a bold deep purple Diane von Furstenberg dress. We also love how Gossip Girl stars Blake Lively and Leighton Meester were reunited at the Met Gala – they both looked amazing in  their respective Gucci Premiere and Emilio Pucci dresses. Not all of the ladies went for full-length or ballgown dresses (like Hayden Panettiere who looked like a Princess!) though – Solange Knowles and Lena Dunham were just two of the stars who went for something a little bit shorter. The impact definitely wasn’t lost though. Here are our best dressed celebs from last night’s Met Gala. Let us know who gets your vote in the comments below. Music and movie stars alike gathered in the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles last night, ready to take in the 2014 MTV Movie Awards action! The red carpet was a real mixed bag in terms of choice of outfits, as it was filled with both fun and fashionable pieces making for real versatility. Rihanna went sexy in a white Ulyana Sergeenko Couture number with a dangerously thigh high split (and she wasn’t afraid to show the crowd, either!) as did Rita Ora, who went the other way and wore a black Barbara Casasola dress with a provocative, plunging front. Paris Fashion Week AW14 highlights from Lanvin, Balmain, Balenciaga & more

The celebs were out in force for the third day of Paris Fashion Week – and we don’t just mean on the front rows! Some of the most in-demand supermodels walked the runway for some of the biggest fashion designers in the world. Here are our highlights from the latest goings on at Paris Fashion Week: LANVIN AW14 Rihanna joined Emma Roberts and other such famous faces to witness the Lanvin autumn/winter 2014 collection first-hand; we’re not jealous at all, honest! Alber Elbaz presented a versatile yet somewhat experimental collection this time around – we believe his exact words were Experimental, Extravagant and Extreme – ensuring that fur and ruffles played a huge part in his light and fluffy new season range. Asymmetric silhouettes and Chanel inspired tweed also made an appearance. The silk dresses were a refreshingly new yet reassuringly familiar addition to the collection, adding the signature Lanvin elegance to the proceedings. Red carpet faves, for sure! NINA RICCI AW14 Jessica Alba watched the Nina Ricci autumn/winter 2014 collection from her comfy seat in the front row, which has got us pretty excited as we imagine what new-season pieces she will be wearing over the next few months as she goes about her daily business or rocks up on a red carpet. Sparkling, shimmering eveningwear was the highlight of the collection, with the designer not being shy of an embellishment or two. Or six. Wool skirt suits, chic jackets, cosy cashmere jumpers, and much more! BALMAIN AW14 Although there were a lot of big faces on the Balmain front row – did we mention Rihanna was one of the schlebs sitting pretty on the FROW? – some of the world’s biggest and hottest models of the moment walked the show too. It was a star-studded affair all round, […]

7 Healthy Ways To Get Bikini Body Ready!

The over-eating at Christmas and over-drinking at New Year hasn’t done our bodies any favours. In fact, eating and drinking like it’s Christmas does a lot more harm to our bodies than we might think! Don’t believe us? Take a look at this infographic from AXA PPP healthcare. Now that Valentine’s Day is done and dusted, the next big date in the calendar is our summer holidays! And what do we need to do on our summer holidays? Wear a bikini! If that thought fills you with dread and has you breaking out in a nervous sweat, don’t worry, because we have some very helpful tips to help you on the road to the perfect bikini body. Here goes: 1. Cut out alcohol No one wants a beer belly – and the clue is in the title, so the first thing to do when embarking on your weight loss journey is to cut out the alcohol. Not only will it be great for your waistline, but you’ll also find that you’ll have more energy and more motivation as the weeks and months go on, too. Plus, there are lots of empty calories in a glass of wine; wouldn’t you rather use your calories on a scrumptious meal that is going to fill you up for longer? 2. Reduce salt and sugar intake Salt and sugar are not only bad for your waistline, but there are so many other health and beauty problems linked to them too. Avoid foods with high salt levels, and try and get out of the habit of adding more salt to your plate. 3. Drink lots of water Drinking water at certain times of the day can be very effective; drinking it a couple of hours before a meal can help digestion, and drinking it in-between […]

Style Awards: 10 best dressed of 2013

The Oscars, the Grammys, and more red carpet premieres than you can shake a stick at – 2013 definitely gave us some stylish highs and lows. However we’re focusing on the former as opposed to the latter as we were always taught that “if you haven’t got anything nice to say, don’t say it at all”, and that’s what we’re sticking to. For this post, anyway! We’ve trawled through the style archives to find our ultimate best-dressed stars of 2013, and we’ve finally settled on a top 10. Yes, there were sleepless nights,  arguments, and copious amounts of coffee consumption, but we’re satisfied with our verdict. Let us know if you agree with us, and whether you think we’ve left anyone out. Or given someone a spot they don’t deserve! Jennifer Lawrence in Dior at the Oscars. The belle of the ball, the ultimate Princess living every little girl’s sartorial dream! Angelina Jolie in Saint Laurent at World War Z premiere. Angelina was all-smiles on the red carpet, and we can’t help but smile when looking at this stunning image of her! Taylor Swift in Reem Acra at Winter Whites charity gala. The perfect regal ensemble to wear to sing karaoke with Prince William and Jon Bon Jovi! Cate Blanchett in Alexander McQueen at Blue Jasmine premiere. Cate really wowed on her Blue Jasmine promo tour, but this monochrome creation was our utter favourite. Simply magical! Sandra Bullock in J Mendel at the Venice Film Festival. The ladies in red! Sandra was sexy, smouldering, sharp… and did we already say sexy? Michelle Obama in Jason Wu at the Inauguration Ball. Michelle Obama made Jason Wu’s day year life by once again choosing him to design her gown for the historical event! Rihanna in Azzedine Alaia at the Grammy Awards. Red […]

Rosie Huntington Whiteley wows in plunging Balmain mini

Although Rihanna was announced as the brand new face of Balmain a matter of days ago (click here to check out the spring/summer 2014 ad campaign images in case you’ve been living under a rock all week and haven’t seen them yet!), we can’t help but think Rosie Huntington Whiteley would make a good spokesperson for the French brand too, especially if the pic above is anything to go by. The stunning British model wore a sexy, plunging black and white long sleeved mini dress from the spring/summer 2012 collection (seems like ages ago we saw that collection debut on the runway, doesn’t it?) while attending The AEM Association Children of the World for Rwanda in Paris earlier this week. Although we weren’t in attendance, we would bet good money that she turned heads wherever she went! She teamed her dress with some edgy black boots and a freshly blow-dried voluminous hairdo, not to mention some feline-esque eyes that Alexa Chung would no doubt be very proud (or maybe even jealous) of. Sex goddess, much? [Image]

Katie Eary for River Island launching next year

There’s been a bit of a Rihanna-shaped hole in our hearts ever since the Bajan songstress unveiled her last collection for River Island, but now the high street store is doing its bit to make sure we are sartorially satisfied by introducing a new collaboration. Ladies and gents, we give you the Katie Eary for River Island collection – and it’s heading to stores a lot sooner than you might expect. The Royal College of Art graduate has previously worked with Kanye West (and made it out alive!) and also runs her own eponymous label. “River Island connects to the cool type of women which suits my project; all those independent, sexy, powerful women who frequent River Island,” the designer said. “Naturally, I thought that we were a perfect match.” So what was she inspired by for her debut collection with River Island? Hunter S Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas apparently, which explains the vibrant colours and patterns. “My starting point was Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Except in my story it wasn’t Johnny Depp, it was my muse (the strong woman) on a crazy hallucinatory journey through the desert.  I then went on to design looks for her while she was on this journey. It all became very Tribal Dipped in Gold.” Sounds exciting! The 18-piece collection – which includes everything from t-shirts, shorts, maxi dresses, swimwear, fringed bags and more – will land in stores on February 17th, with prices ranging from £15 to £120. Jennifer Lawrence is Time’s best dressed of the year!

Congratulations to America’s girl-next-door Jennifer Lawrence. Not only did she walk away with the Best Actress Oscar for her role in Silver Linings Playbook earlier this year and front the coveted September issue of American Vogue, but she has also topped Time’s best-dressed list! And the Dior dress she wore while collecting her aforementioned Academy Award was the reason why! From America’s sweetheart to Britain’s sweetheart, Kate Middleton landed the second spot, with Time referencing the pale blue Emilia Wickstead dress she wore at the beginning of her pregnancy as a noteworthy outfit. We think all of Kate’s outfits deserve praise, but we agree that her Emila Wickstead dress was particularly exceptional. Solange Knowles, Kate Hudson and Rihanna also landed a spot in the Top 10, as did Miley Cyrus thanks to the glittering green Marc Jacobs dress she recently wore. The interesting thing about Miley however, is that she also appeared in the worst dressed Top 10 too. In fact the latex bikini she wore while performing  at the MTV VMAs landed her in the very top position. Er, congrats Miley… or something like that. Click here to check out the full best-dressed list and let us know if you agree with Time’s decisions.

Steep vs. Cheap: Cut out sneakers

With the holiday season set to be a party-led heel marathon, sneaking in as much ‘comfy time’ as possible is called for. And, we can’t think of a more fashionably acceptable way of doing ‘comfortable’ than in a pair of too-cool-for-sports sneakers. Rihanna’s a fan, so is Miley Cyrus. Heck, even the God of leather pants, Kanye West, isn’t seen without his beloved sneakers, convincing even the missus to slip into a matching pair! And thanks to these taste makers, the humble sneaker’s sporty vibe has been elevated to a whole new level of wearable cool. Unsure how to channel the luxe sneaker trend without being mistaken for a gym bunny? Why, with our Steep vs. Cheap sneaker picks, of course! In at the steep end this week, Maison Martin Margiela’s cut out sneakers in black suede are making us want to ditch heels for good. Featuring a soft suede hi-top outer, contrasting white laces and all the padded comfort of a cotton cloud, are you sold on the £441.72 price tag? We are. (Sorry, landlord) But, hold fire if you fear your fashion fund depleting, because we’ve tracked down an equally wardrobe (and pocket) friendly version of the mighty Margiela sneaker. Head to Topshop, and snap up the Ashton cut out sneakers for a very reasonable £52. Win win! Will you splash the cash or curb the urge? Steep: Maison Martin Margiela suede cut out sneakers, £441.72, available at Shopbop Cheap: Ashton cut out trainers, £52, available at Topshop

Taylor Swift performing at Victoria’s Secret Show, One Direction not

Despite the rumours that were doing the rounds a while ago, the One Direction boys will not be serenading the Victoria’s Secret Angels as they strut their stuff down the catwalk for the annual Victoria’s Secret Show later this month. Sorry to disappoint you Harry Styles (and Harry Styles fans – i.e, everyone.) We think their absence might have something to do with who is actually performing… and that is the curly haired heartbreaker’s ex Miss Taylor Swift! Although the 23-year-old singer will be the main singing event, she will also be joined on the stage by Fall Out Boy, A Great Big World and Neon Jungle which is also pretty exciting! While we doubt she will be as scantily clad as Rihanna was when she performed last year, we have a feeling Taylor will be a good sport and get into the Victoria’s Secret spirit while singing her heart out. We can’t wait to see her and the rest of the guys perform! Do you like the musical talent VS chose this year? [E! Online]

Shirley Manson and B. Åkerlund for & Other Stories campaign

H&M likes to surprise us. We were pleasantly intrigued when the H&M Group launched & Other Stories, and now we’re equally as surprised to find out that the faces of the brand’s new campaign are none other than fiery redhead Garbage singer Shirley Manson and costume designer and stylist B. Åkerlund. We woud have never put those two together, but we’re so glad they are! “Designer clothing is amazing but not affordable for everyone, and what I’ve loved about & other stories from the start is that they’re a cool street brand allowing women to be fashionable without spending a lot of money,” Shirley explained about why she decided to get involved. “I worked at Miss Selfridge for five years before my music career took off and I’ve always had an appreciation for well executed high street fashion. Stories’ philosophy and the fact that I would be working with B, who I respect enormously, made it a no brainer.” Sounds good to us. B. Åkerlund has worked with everyone from Lady Gaga to Rihanna, so she definitely knows a thing or two about style, which is clearly evident in the ad campaign images. Plus we think she and Shirley make a perfect team! Watch the video below to see more of the pieces that will be making their way to stores from November 18th. Anything caught your eye? [Grazia]

Buy of the week: Winter Converse come into their own

The weather might be turning a bit drab but that doesn’t mean that your wardrobe has to go the same way, as seems to be the way. Cold weather comes in and winter jackets and boots go darker, moods drop and summertime fashionistas fade into the background. But the best bits of the summer can come along for the ride including your favourite casual footwear. Classic style canvas Converse Shoes are a staple item in a spring/summer wardrobe because they’re not just bright and colourful, versatile and look fab when teamed up with everything you own, but they’re comfortable and perfect for slipping on to wear every day. Mollie King joins Oasis for ‘Loved By Mollie’ collection

It’s all about celebs and high street at the moment; Kate Moss for Topshop, Rihanna for River Island, and now Mollie King for Oasis. The Saturdays singer has been named as celebrity style ambassador for Oasis, and has curated a 45-piece edit of her favourite pieces from the autumn/winter 2013 collection. The edit is rather aptly titled ‘Loved by Mollie’, although we have a feeling it’ll be loved by women across the nation, too! “I went into the Oasis office and there were rails and rails of clothes that I could dive through. It was like every girl’s dream,” Mollie said about the process. “I picked out my favourite bits, but it was really hard to narrow everything down because obviously I couldn’t pick the whole collection! I wanted a mixture of evening wear and casual pieces.” We’d have that problem too – the Oasis collection is stronger than ever this season! Still, we think Mollie did a really good job and we think she looks gorgeous in the campaign images too. Head over to Oasis to see all the pieces in the Loved by Mollie edit. [Grazia]

Lucy Mecklenburgh is the new face and body of By Caprice!

Who doesn’t love a cheeky bit of The Only Way is Essex every now and again? It’s a guilty pleasure of ours and we aren’t afraid to admit it. TOWIE star Lucky Mecklenburgh has taken time out of her busy schedule to pose in her underwear… but this isn’t just any underwear – it’s By Caprice underwear! The 22-year-old has been chosen as the face and body of the brand new By Caprice collection, and can be seen showcasing some of our favourite designs in the pictures above. “Lucy looks absolutely gorgeous in the designs,” CEO and designer Caprice said. “She has beautiful feminine curves, a healthy, toned physique and luscious natural beauty. “Lucy is an inspiration to all women for her approach to health and fitness. Her positive attitude towards body image encompasses everything we set out to achieve when designing the collections. It is such a pleasure to have Lucy on board.” Look how gorgeous she looks – and the designs are pretty special too! The collection is available to buy right now from Bycaprice.com and Figleaves.

5 ‘can’t-live-without’ cult sweatshirts

There’s only one way to stand out from the crowd and cement your status as a true stylista this autumn/winter season… and you’re looking at it! Eye-popping jumpers are what it’s all about; all of the hottest designers from Stella McCartney to Christopher Kane to everyone else inbetween have tackled the statement cult sweatshirt, and we’ve narrowed down five of our absolute current favourites: 1. We think we’d be more interested in the medical profession if MRI scans really looked like this – Christopher Kane has nailed the statement sweatshirt, and this is just one of his vivid designs. Christopher Kane brain print jumper, £275 2. Worn by all the cool kids of celebville from Rihanna to Rita Ora to Cara Delevingne, your winter wardrobe wouldn’t be complete without this simple but statement-worthy sweatshirt. Boy London metallic eagle logo sweatshirt, £60 3. Jumpers don’t have to be reserved for those casual, dress-down days, oh no. This sweatshirt may be oversized and might hide some of your curves, but the subtle delicate print will help bring out your feminine side. The best of both worlds. Acne bird oversized sweatshirt, £225 4. Markus Lupfer and the term “cult sweatshirt” were made for each other; he’s the King of the statement sweater for a reason! This jumper incorporates this season’s sporty, casual trend with the pop art look perfectly. Markus Lupfer brush stroke sweatshirt, £230 5. Stella McCartney has mastered pretty much every trend in her time as a designer, so it doesn’t surprise us to learn that she has totally conquered the cult sweatshirt trend too. What’s not to love about this bold eagle printed jumper? Stella McCartney eagle quilted jumper, £475

Paris Fashion Week SS14 highlights from Gareth Pugh, Carven, Dries Van Noten & more

Last Fashion Week stop: Paris! Pars Fashion Week has well and truly kicked off to bring Fashion Month to a close, with the first spring/summer 2014 collections to hit the French catwalks coming from the likes of Alexis Mabille, Dries Van Noten, Carven, Gareth Pugh and Anthony Vaccarello. David Bowie, or should we say Ziggy Stardust, would be very impressed with the Gareth Pugh spring/summer 2014 collection as it was sci-fi glamour with a gothic and dramatic twist. The ostrich feather headpiece that opened the show was a definite highlight for us, as were the exaggerated Cleopatra-style shouldered pieces. Akin to the Dolce and Gabbana SS14 collection, the Dries Van Noten show was filled with rich, golden-hued pieces. Unlike Dolce and Gabbana though, pleats and ruffles – and even  ruffled pleats and pleated ruffles – were very dominant on the catwalk, which only added to the drama and fluidity of the collection. We also get the distinct impression that Rihanna will be all over the Alexis Mabille collection thanks to its keen and prominent military theme – either that, or she will be kicking herself that the pieces weren’t part of her Rihanna for River Island collection. Hopefully it won’t be the latter! Dries Van Noten Alexis Mabille Carven Anthony Vaccarello

Eudon Choi for River Island launching this month

Looks like Rihanna isn’t the only one to collaborate with River Island, as the high street store has teamed up with London Fashion Week regular Eudon Choi! Pretty cool, huh? The designer is used to stepping out of his comfort zone, having only started trading as a womensswear designer back in 2009 after training as a menswear designer in his native Korea. We’re confident that his transition from high end to high street will be a breeze though, especially if his mainline spring/summer 2014 collection (pictured) is anything to go by. “This capsule collection has been developed as I would with my mainline,” he said in a press release. “It was not a case of me sending off 15 sketches and then seeing the final collection hit the shops; I have been involved at every stage of the process and River Island welcomed and encouraged that level of engagement. It has been a really great experience. “I am looking forward to spotting people wearing my collection on the bus. As an emerging designer the opportunity to work with a major high street retailer is an incredible opportunity. My mainline collections are sold in very high end stores and I love the idea that people all over the UK will be able to buy this collection. Who knew Eudon Choi even took the bus? We are pretty excited to see what the designer has up his sleeve for his River Island debut. The collection is slated to launch later this month so keep your eyes peeled for it!

Kourtney Kardashian is Worst Dressed of the Week

Given we’re all about rule breaking this week, we thought to shake things up and bring you our Worst Dressed celeb of the Week. We’re always waxing lyrical about pristinely dressed A-listers, so how about acknowledging those amongst us who take it upon themselves to make us wince every time we look at their outfits? Guilty as charged this week is one part of the super-extended Karadashian clan, Kourtney Kardashian. Stepping out in LA with her relatively well-dressed sibling, Khloe, Kourtney’s eye-watering outfit quickly diverted our attention. What is that we see? A shudder-inducing mishmash of sorts, that’s what! Pairing an otherwise gorgeous pair of heeled gladiator-style sandals with ripped, acid wash bermuda shorts, a white shirt and aviator sunglasses, Kourtney didn’t quite make the kind of fashion statement she probably had in mind when getting dressed. Broken down, her outfit is great: classic aviator sunglasses; a classic, crisp white shirt; summer-perfect sandals and bermudas Rihanna wouldn’t mind rocking. But thrown together, this outfit really is a case of sartorial sacrilege! (We shudder to think what Kanye had to say about this) The oft-polished reality star was probably having an off day (who doesn’t?), so here’s how we suggest she rework this ‘look’: shorts, not Bermudas, would work well, and ditch the shirt for a relaxed fit tee. Keep the sunnies and bag, and you’re good to go! [Image]

Steep vs. Cheap: Leather sleeve bomber jacket

Taking outerwear to a whole other level, the revival of the bomber jacket has been a godsend of sort. Especially for the style pack – many of whom prefer the ease of a carrying a stuff-in-bag jacket, as opposed to a coat of Margiela proportions! Thanks to the prominence of the sports-luxe trend, the humble bomber jacket – from its early days on the back of the original Rebel Without A Cause to becoming a certified part of Rihanna’s street uniform– has under gone a ‘lux up’, as we like to call it Elevating its athletic status to so-now, the go-with-everything jacket has serious style grit. Paired with a dress, over a simple tee and jeans or, daringly worn with a party dress for flair that screams I DON’T CARE, we can’t stop waxing lyrical about the bomber jacket’s versatility. Checking in at the high end this week is a buttery soft beauty from A.P.C Atelier de Production et de Création (£455). Perfect for complementing an off-duty look, we love the contrast leather sleeves and trim. The wool-blend body promises a snugly, anti-winter chill insurance of sorts, and the slightly looser fit goes perfectly with the jacket’s relaxed vibe. But if you’re not made of money (erm, like the majority of us), then turn to the high street, because you know it always saves you from landing in a sticky financial situation! Not scrimping on the luxury of real leather, Mango offers the perfect alternative that’s a little easier on the pocket. For £119.99, pick up this gorgeous suede jacket with leather sleeves and sporty snap button fastenings – we promise you’ll wear it forever. So what’s on the cards? A splurge or save-athon? Steep: A.P.C. Atelier de Production et de Création leather and wool-blend bomber jacket, £455, available at […]

One Direction NOT performing at Victoria’s Secret show

We hate to be the bearers of bad news but since it’s our job to keep you updated with all the latest goings on in the world of fashion, we have no choice… Contrary to the rumours that were doing the rounds yesterday, British singing sensations Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson – also known as One Direction – will not be performing in the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. “The recent reports regarding One Direction appearing in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show are untrue,” the brand wrote in a statement. “The band is not performing in this year’s show. We will announce our artists in early October.” So, the boys won’t be following in the footsteps of Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Bruno Mars and more artists lucky enough to land the gig but we haven’t got long to wait until the lineup is announced. Who would you love to see perform alongside the likes of Adriana Lima, Karlie Kloss, Alessandra Ambrosio and the other Victoria’s Secret Angels?

Cara Delevingne joins Will Heard in the recording studio

Cara Delevingne has made no secret of the fact that she wants to step into BFF Rihanna’s shoes by getting behind the mic, and now it looks like her singing dreams are becoming a reality. Cara joined singer/songwriter Will Heard in the studio to record an acoustic version of his song Sonnentanz (The Sun Don’t Shine). And you can watch and listen to the part of them in action in the video below. “I always enjoy working with Cara,” Will, who has been friends with Cara for a few years, said. “She’s great fun and that really comes through when we’re in the studio. “Her voice is unique and she could have a huge music career ahead of her if she wanted. Her support for my music has been amazing and I’d love to collaborate with her on my debut album”. Maybe we should make the most of Cara on the catwalks while we can before she jets off to the States to make big music. Watch the video below and let us know what you think of her vocal ability. Sweating the small stuff: Is fashionable gym gear important?

Sometimes, a brow-raising snapshot of someone committing an act of foolishness in the name of fashion is all it takes to get mouths moving at HQ. And this week, we’re blaming our subtle rant on the woman who can effortlessly outdo Andre Leon Talley in bright pink socks and flat pumps: Anna Dello Russo. When Fashionista reported the street style siren had been captured on Instagram jogging with her friend-in-fashion, Giovanna Battaglia (who was relevantly dressed), wearing a complete runway look from the Dolce & Gabbana spring 2013 collection, we couldn’t quite comprehend the gravity of the matter. But it appears ADR’s high-intensity routine called for a high end outfit, and well, we wouldn’t expect anything else from ADR, really! Famed for not shying away from wearing a complete designer look when attending a corresponding show during fashion month, Anna left our mouths agape with her appetite for staying stylish, even when working up a smelly sweat (but does Queen Anna’s sweat even smell bad?), and forced the following question pop up in our ever enquiring minds: Is it really important to look fashionable when fighting the bulge? OK, so ADR may have taken the meaning of ‘fashionable’ to a whole other level, but does looking at this snapshot of ADR pounding the streets in current season wares (and potentially risking insulting her dear Dolce friends) up the pressure to stay stylish in the gym? Does it really matter that you’re sporting Stella McCartney x Adidas when doing the downward dog? The sports-luxe trend has helped enmesh the worlds of perspiration and pap-worthy fashion, but we all know it’s not about rocking a Wang mesh vest, or a Rihanna x River Island tank top when hitting the treadmill. As mother always said, sensibly does it nicely. But designers and celebrites aren’t […]

Steep vs. Cheap: Leopard-print ankle boots

You guessed it. Our quest for bagging the perfect pair of boots is still going strong, and it seems our new season wardrobe will contain one too many pairs! Stepping onto our Steep vs. Cheap radar this week are head turning leopard-print ankle boots that are, well, purr-fect (sorry!). Whoever said leopard-print was the reserve of party nights or only to be seen on clothes, look away now, because your shoedrobe is about to receive a serious injection of statement animal print. Coming in at the steep end this week; the Puss in Boots ankle boots from the queen of adorably quirky shoes, Charlotte Olympia. A sure-fire winner when it comes to turning heads with the power of the humble boot, we love the slight heel, luxe calf hair upper and the just visible, iconic embroidered cat face. But, to slip into these beauties means parting with the hefty sym of £795! However, as always, the high street has come to the rescue. Ensuring you can still get your animal print ankle boot fix without breaking the bank is Rihanna’s preferred high street haunt, River Island, where you can snap up a similar style for a fraction of the price. With a pocket-friendly price tag of £50, your feet are guaranteed to look fierce without turning you bankrupt. In these budget friendly beauties, you’ll definitely be the cat that got the cream! So which side will you let loose on these boots: the spendthrift, or the serial cash splasher? Steep: Charlotte Olympia Puss in Boots embroidered calf hair ankle boots, £795, available at Net-a-Porter Cheap: Pony hair leopard-print chelsea boots, £50, available at River Island

Fashion Charts: What’s going up and what’s coming down this month

Up The bomber jacket: The hit summer cover-up, we’re digging the bomber jacket for its endless styling opportunities. Continuing fashion’s love affair with the sport luxe trend, we’re wearing ours with skinny jeans and a luxe tee by day, and statement earring and a sexy pencil skirt by night. Knuckle-nail rings: From Balenciaga’s lusted-after gold versions to pocket-pleasing high-street alternatives on the high street, knuckle rings have evolved into the next best thing: knuckle-nail rings, as seen on the Chanel Fall Couture 2013 runway. Yeah, couture on your nails is a thing, according to Kaiser Karl. Expensive baby shoes: With a ‘female hustler’ and the ‘king of hip hop’ for parents, you’re expected to have a more than average upbringing. Her Majesty, Blue Ivy Carter, has her own pair of TOM FORD heels. Yes, TOM FORD. Downsized to tot proportions, and modelled by her bootylicious mum. In other news, the world’s first billionaire couple reportedly splashed out a whopping (modest by Jay-B standards) $7,500 on presents for Baby Kimye, including a pair of Christian Dior booties. Moss mania: Although she’s been everywhere since being discovered at the tender age of 14, Kate Moss continues to rule everything, everywhere. From taking over the Stuart Weitzman and Versace AW13 campaigns to teaming up with Carphone Warehouse on a new fashion-tech accessories line and going under the hammer (sort of) at Christie’s. Budget Alaia’s (well, kind of): We’ve been drooling over the real deal, and promptly heading to Zara to snap up the pocket-friendly version! We’re in love with complex, lace up sandals that look like a lot of hard work to slip into, but once you’ve got them on, there’s no coming off. Down Over-the-top underdressing: Oh, Rihanna. Bad, bad Rihanna. Rocking up to Chanel Couture (!) in nothing more than a […]

Gisele still Forbes Most Powerful model

The 2013 Forbes 100 Most Powerful Celebrities list has just been released, and once again Gisele Bündchen has found herself on top as far as models were concerned, securing the 81st spot. Pretty impressive considering how many models – iconic and up-and-coming – she had to beat off. Aussie Miranda Kerr came in at number 100. Unsurprisingly, Oprah Winfrey topped the entire list for the fifth year, but Lady Gaga came a very close second, with Beyonce securing the very respectable fourth spot. We can definitely see how those three ladies have influenced the world! Music queens Madonna, Taylor Swift and Rihanna came fifth, sixth and 13th respectively, while MFL fave actresses Jennifer Lawrence, Angelina Jolie, Kristen Stewart, Gwnyneth Paltrow, Emma Stone and Meryl Streep also secured places on the list. Is there anyone you think Forbes left out? [Forbes]

Midweek Moodboard: Casual cool

Think boyfriend jeans, slouchy tops, flowing maxi skirts, and flat, comfortable shoes aplenty. Or if you want a celeb-approved way to give you an air of casual cool, why don’t you don a snapback cap?  If they’re good enough for Cara Delevingne and Rihanna….
