Watch Terry Richardson get his first taste of POPwater

Many moons ago (six months actually) we told you about Terry Richardson’s new venture into POPwater… and now it’s finally time for the fashion photographer to get a sip of the product in front of the camera so we can all witness it! “After working closely with our friends at Coca Cola and Pepsi on various music related initiatives over the years, we were inspired to create a beverage that had music and pop culture in its DNA,” said Troy Carter, CEO of Atom Factory. “Terry Richardson and our creative team are bringing this vision to life and we’re excited to have them tell this story.” Indeed. Watch Terry try out the 30-calorie-beverage in the video below, and stay tuned for the official POPwater release on April 16th. It will hit the shelves of Los Angeles later this month, before heading to other parts of the world soon after. We love the hyperbolic reaction in the video! http://youtu.be/vUiwKtnIT60

Ashley Tisdale embraces spring in Rebecca Minkoff two piece

Ashley Tisdale has been absent from our television screens all year and we have been less than pleased about it. However, the Tiz headed to EXTRA TV to be interviewed by ex Saved By The Bell hunk Mario Lopez about her appearance in Scary Movie 5, and we think she looked absolutely incredible. An appearance definitely well worth the wait if you ask us! We follow Ashley on Twitter and her dedication to the gym hasn’t gone unnoticed – and the Rebecca Minkoff cropped bustier top and skirt combo is the perfect outfit to show off her incredible figure with class. It screams “look at me” without being to obvious, which is exactly what you want. We (along with the rest of the world) got to know Ashley Tisdale during her High School Musical days (let’s not pretend we haven’t purchased the dance-along version and play it when we’re feeling a bit down) and we adore how her sartorial choices have taken her from Disney Princess to ‘Style Queen’ over the years. We also love the darker locks she is sporting too; gorgeous from top to toe!

Shazam creators launch fashion identification app

Celebrity fashion hunters, listen up – tracking down what the celebs have been wearing has never been easier, as the creators behind our favourite music identification app Shazam have extended their talents to fashion. This means that you can snap a pic of a hot designer or high street piece from the television and the app will tell you within a matter of seconds where it’s from. How good is that? “We have the ability to identify the product in a TV show so that when somebody Shazams it, they could find out where a presenter’s dress is from in one click,” said company CEO Andrew Fisher. “We make it easier for consumers to engage with a brand or a piece of content they are interested in, without having to go through search engines, then mining the results.” No word on when the app will be officially released but we have a feeling it will completely revolutionise the way we watch TV and shop in the future. What do you think? Will you download it or is scouring the net finding out for yourself part of the fashion-hunting thrill? [Telegraph] [Image]

The 26th Annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards: The best dressed!

Admit it, there’s a little Awards Season hole in your heart, isn’t there? Don’t be shy, we feel the same way, but luckily the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards have stepped in to save the day and fill the void. The Kids Choice red carpet is probably one of the most laid back, fun events that the movie, TV and music stars of Hollywood get to enjoy, and this is no doubt reflected in their sartorial choices. Pins were out in force, as the stars put on their shortest mini dresses and jumpsuits for the occasion. Kristen Stewart looked stunning in a blue Osman jumpsuit (she even managed a smile while posing for pics, so we’re guessing she knew how hot she looked!) while Selena Gomez made Oscar de la Renta casually cool by teaming his intricate top with some off-duty white shorts. Other schlebs on our best-dressed list include Ashley Tisdale, Victoria Justice and Katy Perry… check out the full list below and tell us who got your vote! Selena Gomez in Oscar de la Renta Jessica Alba in Mary Katrantzou Kristen Stewart in Osman Ashley Tisdale in Rafael Cennamo   Victoria Justice in Pia Pauro  Katy Perry in Hervé Léger By Max Azria Miranda Cosgrove in Stella McCartney Bella Thorne in Bec & Bridge Fergie in Mary Katrantzou Debby Ryan in Topshop  [poll id= “396”]

Sneak peek at the David Bowie Is exhibit at the V&A

If you follow us on Twitter, you may have noticed that we got a little bit excited yesterday afternoon as we attended a sneaky press preview of the David Bowie Is exhibit at the Victoria and Albert museum. Fashion fans and music lovers alike won’t want to miss it for the world – we certainly wouldn’t! Over 300 pieces have been selected for exhibition, with everything from handwritten song lyrics, instruments, fashion (obviously) – iconic Ziggy Stardust suit naturally included – photography, set designs, and even lipstick-stained tissues among the items on display. Over 48,000 tickets have already been bought – just to give you an idea of how popular it is! “We knew it would be big, but the ticket sales have been unprecedented,” assistant curator Kathryn Johnson told British Vogue. “But that’s the way music fans buy – it’s as if they’re booking advance tickets for a gig. We want to appeal to both fans and also those who don’t know as much about him. There is a lot to show – it was narrowing it down that was difficult.” Just to recap, the David Bowie Is exhibit will open to the public this Saturday, so make sure you head down there to check out pieces from the fashion and music legend’s life with your own eyes. Not to be missed! Click here to book your tickets and find out more info!

Rita Ora’s Superga ads are here!

It’s been a while since it was announced that Rita Ora would take over from Alexa Chung as the face of Superga, but now it’s finally time to check out her debut pictures in all their glory. On first glance, we’re actually pretty impressed with what the 22-year-old singer has to offer! What do you think of her efforts? Do you think she got some fierce posing tips from new BFF Cara Delevingne? A cute selection of blinding white and cooler grey Superga trainers are well and truly on display in the  spring/summer 2013 ad campaign images, as are an abundance of musical props – no doubt to make the ads more personal to their new brand ambassador. We wonder how much input Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen – who were recently named creative directors of the Italian brand – had in the concept of the shoot… [Telegraph] [Images]

Nikki Rich AW13 – the celeb clothing collection with a difference!

Bored of all the clothing collections designed by top models and pop Princesses? If you want a celeb clothing line with a difference, may we suggest extending your search to one created by what can only be described as a rock God? Richie Sambora (the musical-maestro behind the Bon Jovi guitar) and design partner Nikki Lund have just unveiled the autumn/winter 2013 ‘Nikki Rich’ clothing collection at Los Angeles Fashion Week, and we think it’s their best outing yet! It’s comprised of fun, edgy pieces that are perfect for channelling your inner rock star for all occasions… and best of all, they’re totally wearable! Richie and Nikki obviously got the memo about military jackets being all the rage, because quite a few expertly tailored variations came out to play on the catwalk… the black one above has our name on! And speaking of the catwalk, we heart the rock chick meets Heidi styling that was going on – definitely a trend to try! We love everything about this collection – the partnership, the versatility, the attitude… need we say more? [WWD] [Image]

Adele to be immortalised at Madame Tussauds

She famously won six out of six Grammys last year, and is now the very proud owner of an Oscar, so it seems very fitting that musical legend Adele be immortalised in wax at London’s Madame Tussauds. Where else, right? “Adele is the perfect addition to the music line up here in London,” said Nicole Fenner, a spokesperson for Madame Tussauds. “She’s one of the world’s hottest properties right now and one of our most requested personalities. “In fact, we’ve seen a huge increase in requests for her figure since Skyfall was released and the timing seems perfect to honour her after such phenomenal success with the song. “She is one of the most influential British female artists and we know she is going to be a huge hit with our guests alongside our other pop greats. We’re very excited to welcome her to Madame Tussauds London.” Adele’s waxwork will be unveiled in July, and she will reportedly be wearing the black polka dot dress she wore to collect her Grammy Awards last year. We can’t wait to see it! [Vogue] [Image]

Zara Martin impresses on the NME Awards red carpet

Unfortunately for the NME Awards, the red carpet arrivals are always going to be a bit tricky as far as celeb outfits are concerned. Taking place just a few days after The Oscars, ie the most anticipated event on the Hollywood calendar, the celebs who bravely walk the red carpet are inevitably going to feel like they have some pretty big shoes to fill. Still, it’s always nice to see which girls take it in their stride and make an effort regardless – and we think Zara Martin did a cracking job of it. She’s not trying to be something she isn’t, and she’s not pretending to be anywhere she isn’t either. The NME Awards are about celebrating great, mostly alternative music, which is why we take our hats off to the ladies who reflect that with their sartorial choices at the same time. Zara’s look fits in perfectly – it’s fun, youthful, edgy, the lot! The colour and mish-mash of prints made her stand out for all the right reasons, without making her look like she was trying to pull focus from the musical stars at the event. A solid effort!

Long tights with cuts… yay or nay?

[noskim] A pair of tights has become just as much of a wardrobe staple as an essential, perfect-fitting pair of jeans or a trusty little black dress. We challenge you to find a girl’s wardrobe without at least one pair in there – plain or otherwise. As it’s been a while since jazzy tights have made a comeback and are no longer reserved for those channelling extras from the movie Fame, it comes as no surprise to find heaps of other styles on the catwalks and on the high street. They now come in every colour under the sun, as well as a plethora of different materials – you name it, it probably exists! So, as we are keen on mixing it up, we are quite fond of these edgy cut-detail tights. We wouldn’t recommend wearing them to an interview at a top law firm, but we think they’re pretty spot-on for a night on the town with the girls. Especially if the dress code is “dress like you’re in a 2013 R&B music video.” They’re probably not for everyone, as we can see how the might scream “hobo chic” for some people, but we reckon they would make quite the positive style statement when teamed with the right pieces. We’re feeling a long top to juxtapose the flesh flashing, preferably one in a bright colour so the attention remains predominantly on the top half. Even better if it’s a printed top. Add some chunky jewellery to really bring the look home! [/noskim] What do you think? Would you wear them on a night out or should they be reserved for music video girls after the 9pm watershed?

What fashion trends are so last year?

[noskim] Yves Saint Laurent is known for saying that fashions fade, but style is eternal. No truer a word spoken! Some fashion trends can be fun in their time, but can also lack style and look awful once the trend has died. So what trends from 2012 should be left there? Animal motifs 2012 saw images of owls, horses, foxes and birds flood the high street. There were t-shirts, jumpers, dresses and accessories with pictures of animals on them everywhere. Some sported one big animal image and others used repeat animal print motifs. Everywhere in 2012, but not to be worn in 2013! Double denim This ‘80s look made a brief reappearance last year; however it should not attempt a repeat performance in 2013. Jeans will always be a staple of any wardrobe, but pairing them with a denim shirt or denim jacket should not be continued this year. Orange hues Orange, tangerine, whatever you want to call it, this colour should not feature in your wardrobe this year. We saw quite a bit of it in 2012, as it was favoured by many designers, such as Marc Jacobs. Whether this colour appears on clothing or on skin, it will not bring you favourable attention in 2013. Oranges and tangerines taste good, but are not good to wear! Pyjama-inspired trousers The pyjama style trouser was a big trend in 2012, for the both the high street and designers alike. Labels such as Stella McCartney and Louis Vuitton featured this trend in their collections, but it is neither flattering nor chic. The pyjama pant is something that should now be kept to the confines of the home. Pyjamas are just that and should not be confused with outdoor wear. Mullet skirts The last trend that we recommend ditching is the skirt […]

Watch Tilda Swinton and Andrej Pejic star in David Bowie’s The Stars Are Out Tonight video

There are almost too many fashion legends to handle in the music video for David Bowie’s spectacular new song The Stars Are Out Tonight – and that’s not even including music, fashion and general legend David Bowie himself. That’s what we initially thought before we realised that you can never actually have too many fashion legends in one place at the same time. Did the Olympics Closing Ceremony featuring all those iconic fashion figures teach us nothing?! Anyway if you fancy easing yourself into Wednesday morning, we’d thoroughly recommend checking the new video out – plus the song itself should set you up for the working day quite nicely. Tilda Swinton plays David Bowie’s wife in the video – although we reckon she could also quite convincingly play his sister or even his doppelganger – while Anrej Pejic and Saskia de Brauw swap genders and Norwegian model Iselin Steiro plays an uncanny young David Bowie. Confused? Intrigued? A mix of both? Watch the gender-bending video below and be confused and intrigued no more! [Fashionista]

Anja Rubik turns designer for Giuseppe Zanotti

Hot on the heels of the announcement that Alessandra Ambrosio will be turning her talents to designing comes the news that stunning Polish model Anja Rubik will be following suit. Ms Rubik has teamed up with Giuseppe Zanotti on a capsule collection of shoes which are inspired by her two style icons David Bowie and Debbie Harry. “It’s a bit glam-punk,” Anja told British Vogue. “I love that period in music. I’m a huge Bowie fan. People have said I look like him, which is honestly the biggest compliment. I think it’s the high cheekbones. His style was so bold and brave and his music so honest. The whole collection is very personal to me, there is a real story behind it.” There’s nothing we love more than a personal collection with a real story! The range will reportedly hit stores next month, with the shoes ranging between £480 and £1200.

The Brit Awards 2013: The best dressed!

There’s nothing quite like a good British award ceremony to warm us up for the prestigious Oscars that are taking place this Sunday! (Write it in your diaries and stock up on the coffee and popcorn – it’s going to be a long night and we want you to spend it with us!) Anyway last night wasn’t about the Oscars, it was about the one and only Brit Awards which made us very proud to hail from this fine nation! Musicians, actresses and generally all sorts of hot and glamorous stars from across the globe turned up to London’s O2 Arena for the 2013 Brit Awards, and predictably there were quite a few sartorial red carpet choices that set tongues wagging and pulses racing. Always a MFL favourite, Taylor Swift stunned the crowd in a jaw-dropping sexy black Elie Saab number, while Bond Girl Berenice Marlohe had a license to thrill in a wow-worthy gold Donna Karan Atelier dress. It’s a good job Jessie J wasn’t at the Grammy Awards, because the ultra-revealing Versace dress she chose would have violated every inch of the conservative dress code. Nice to see her making the most of her long, raven looks before she goes for the chop in aid of Red Nose Day. Good for you, Jess! Also representing British talent was model Jourdan Dunn in a sexy mini Balmain dress, and Paloma Faith who sparkled in Dolce and Gabbana. Always one for giving us an attention-grabbing outfit is our Paloma, and boy do we love her for it! Take a look at the list of our best-dressed gals from the evening. Who gets your vote? Rihanna launches make-up range with MAC

Not content with just launching her debut clothing line with River Island, Bajan pop Princess Rihanna will now be turning her talents to make-up by teaming up with MAC cosmetics on a series of collections set to launch later this year. “We always say that MAC likes to go on a date but doesn’t really want to go into a relationship,” said John Demsey a spokesperson for MAC’s parent company Estée Lauder. “But this relationship with Rihanna is a long-term one that involves the development of four distinct colour initiatives.” “These four collections are like four tracks on a Rihanna compilation. Each one has its own vibe, look, special makeup packaging and flavour. This is really the convergence of pop culture, fast fashion, and iconic style and makeup.” The first of the collections, entitled ‘RiRi Woo’, is slated to land in stores and online in May – we’ll give you the exact date as soon as we know it! What do you think? Should Rihanna stick to music and clothes or are you glad to see her branching out into cosmetics? Ps: Happy 25th birthday Rihanna!  [Yahoo]

London Fashion Week AW13: Highlights from Day 2

Despite being a little worse for wear, we were up bright and early for the second day of London Fashion Week – we weren’t going to miss the 9am DAKS show for the world! And boy are we glad we got out of bed for it! Day 2 was pretty packed, with autumn/winter 2013 collections from the likes of Julien Macdonald, House of Holland, Carlotta Actis Barone, Issa, and the highly anticipated Rihanna for River Island (among others) all making their debut. It was another successful day for celeb-spotting too, with the likes of Pixie Lott and all five members of The Saturdays showing their support on the Julien Macdonald front row, but the prize for most star-studded FROW definitely went to the one and only Bajan pop princess known as Rihanna. Even Cara Delevingne – who is usually on the catwalk herself – had the night off and enjoyed the show from her seat. Let’s crack on with the highlights, shall we? DAKS A strong and contemporary collection comprised of loose, layered, relaxed and tailored pieces. Lots of sleeveless numbers for all you sleeve-phobics, and a few leather pieces to grunge it up. Two pieces which stole the show for us were the tailored black jumpsuit, and the gold cropped vest top. Simply stunning. Carlotta Actis Barone  One of our most anticipated shows of the day – mainly because we got an epic performance from some ballet dancers during the show last season so we were expecting great things. There were no musical interludes this time around, but that didn’t mean we didn’t enjoy the show. Au contraire, the designer presented a much more muted and understated collection this season, with a high selection of instantly wearable pieces for both day and night. What it lacked in varied colour […]

Celebrity-inspired Sunglasses

[noskim] With the spring/summer 2013 trends hitting high-streets nationwide, you may find that a few more celebrity lines are capturing your attention. Earlier this month Florence Welch from Florence + the Machine launched her very own jewellery collection and just before her Katy Perry spoke out about her forthcoming vintage fashion line. So, is it something in the water or just natural progression for talented celebrities to spread their creative wings a little further? We take a peek at the most on-trend sunglasses of the season and which celebrities they could have been inspired by! The Florence The singer-turned-jewellery designed has recently launched 80s style bracelets, necklaces and earrings for the modern trend-setter. Her contemporary, Art Deco style would go perfectly with these sharp designer sunglasses from RetroSun. The Paris Perfect for hiding your peppers from the gaggle of paparazzi, these D+G sunglasses have most definitely been inspired by Paris Hilton. She is often spotted in a crisp white pair but these sunglasses feature a crushed glass frame effect for added glamour and sparkle. The Gaga Ms Lady Gaga is a fan of textured fashion; lace being one of her recurring favourites. Perhaps not the best fabric for protecting your eyes from the sun’s rays but hey, the lady herself is never one to opt for practicality over beauty. The quirky use of chic black lace would be right up her street. The I Am Famed for his choice of eclectic eyewear, Will I Am is an obvious celebrity to design sunglasses for. Whenever spotted he is sporting a different pair of kooky sunglasses that get the fashion pages talking. This single lens style would be ideal for one of his more futuristic music videos. The Hathaway If you, like Anne Hathaway, cried during Les Miserables then you’d better bag […]

Beyonce dazzles at Life is But a Dream premiere in sparkly Elie Saab

We’ve long regarded Beyonce as one of the biggest and most powerful female music stars of our time, but lately she’s been taking it to a whole new level. Not only did she put on a spectacular show at the Superbowl earlier this month, but she’s also snagged Vogue’s coveted March cover, wowed on the Grammys red carpet in a monochrome Osman jumpsuit, signed a multi-million Pound sponsorship deal with Pepsi, and of course made her very own HBO documentary. We’re pretty sure we missed a few things out but you get the picture. So, given all of Bey’s aforementioned successes, we really didn’t think it could get any better. Until we saw her turn up to the premiere of her Life is But a Dream documentary last night. We don’t think there are enough superlatives in the English dictionary to describe how stunning she looked in her sheer, sparkling gown by Lebanese designer Elie Saab. Now we know why Bey went for the understated look for the Grammys – she was saving the best dress for her own premiere! This dress has everything – it’s sexy, it’s sparkly, it accentuates each and every incredible curve on her body perfectly, and we genuinely cannot fault it. Flawless doesn’t even cut it!

Taylor Swift’s looking lovely in Louis Vuitton for Elle US March

Country music star Taylor Swift has well and truly burst onto the cover of Elle US’s March issue in one of the brightest and most memorable pieces from the Louis Vuitton spring/summer 2013 collection. What do you think? Even though we’ve seen similar looks on the red carpet and magazine editorial pages quite a bit these past few months, Taylor’s still managed to leave a lasting impression on us. She can pretty much do no wrong in our eyes – just check out all her awards-season dresses for proof! We’re not totally convinced ex-boyfriend Harry Styles will see it that way though… As well as appearing in some stunning editorial pics, Taylor talks openly to the mag about a number of subjects, including writing songs about her favourite subject: her exes! “To me it’s just writing songs the way I always have,” she said. “It’s me sitting on my bed feeling pain I didn’t understand, writing a song, and understanding it better. If people want to dissect the lyrics, that’s their right, but it’s all coming from the exact same place as where I started. It’s just something I do to feel better.” We can’t wait til this issue makes its way across the pond and lands on our magazine shelves. Are you impressed with Tay’s cover or are you a little underwhelmed?

The 55th Grammy Awards 2013: The best dressed!

Grammy time! The red carpet got rolled out on both sides of the pond yesterday; while the biggest acting stars in the world jetted into London for the BAFTAs, the singing sensations headed to sunnier climes (Los Angeles, to be exact) for the 55th annual Grammy Awards. We were looking forward to seeing what the girls ended up wearing, given the stricter dress code they had to work with this year. We expected a few of them to be rebellious and flash the flesh anyway (if you’ve got it, you may as well flaunt it) but they actually more or less behaved themselves… save for a few plunging necklines and J-Lo’s dangerously high slit dress. If you joined us last night for our live-tweeting you might remember that we got particularly excited by the arrival of pop Princess Rihanna, who stuck to the rules and went for a phenomenal red custom Azzedine Alaia gown, and music Queen Beyonce who defied expectations and went for a modern monochrome pant suit by LFW-fave Osman…  and totally working it, may we add! Check out the full list of our best-dressed below; and as usual, don’t forget to vote for your favourite! Beyonce’s in trouble with PETA over Superbowl outfit

Uh oh… although we were beside ourselves with excitement and shed actual tears of elation when we saw Beyonce perform at The Superbowl on Sunday night, it doesn’t seem like everyone felt the same way. Especially PETA. We don’t think it was Bey’s actual performance that the organisation had a problem with, as it was her costume that was made from python, iguana and cow skin that caused the offence. “We would take a bet that if Beyonce watched our video exposés, she’d probably not want to be seen again in anything made of snakes, lizards, rabbits or other animals who died painfully,” a spokesperson for PETA said. “Today’s fashions are trending toward humane vegan options, and Beyonce’s Super Bowl outfit missed the mark on that score.” The black fur Dior coat she wore after singing at President Obama’s inauguration didn’t go down too well either… “What does it mean when one of the most popular musicians in the world endorses the fur trade in such a dramatic way?” What do you guys reckon? Were you offended by Bey’s outfit? [Telegraph]

Is Katy Perry launching her own fashion line?

Do we really need to see another celebrity clothing collection? Well, when we’re talking about pop princess Katy Perry, the answer is a big fat yes! Word on the street is that Katy will be teaming up with her stylist and BFF Johnny Wujek to create a colourful clothing collection inspired by the styles of Dita Von Teese and Gwen Stefani – two undisputed fashion icons we think you’ll agree! “Katy has been asked about setting up her own fashion line for years,” a source reportedly told The Sun. “But she’s started to talk about it seriously with Johnny now. ”They would use inspiration from the likes of Dita Von Teese and Gwen Stefani because they are sophisticated dressers – very bright and vintage-looking stuff.” Ms Perry is famed for her deliciously quirky stage outfits, and although we don’t imagine she will be creating dresses with exploding fireworks coming out of the bosom area (darn it!) we’re confident they’re going to be pretty special. We predict bubblegum colours aplenty, and tons and tons of sparkle! [Contact Music]

What to Look for in an Engagement Ring?

[noskim] How wonderful to have made a decision to become engaged and commit to another person, Congratulations! Now comes the hard part…finding the perfect symbol of everlasting love. Well not to worry, we’re here to help..here’s our tips on what to look for in the perfect engagement ring: There are tons of different styles of diamond rings to choose from, so lets discuss a few of the more popular options. A. SOLITAIRE. A solitaire diamond is usually round, but it also can be cut into shapes that are not as common. For example: a “cushion” is square with the corners rounded for the “princess” is also square but with pointed corners, instead of rounded. A “marquise” is oval shaped with the top and bottom pointed. A “pearl” is similar to a marquise expect that the bottom and top are slightly rounded. Perhaps a heart shaped solitaire will be the perfect symbol of love. B. A SOLITAIRE with ACCENTS offers something extra and unique. On both sides of the main, centre solitaire would be smaller stones. These accents can be the same cut as the main solitaire or can be totally different in shape and colour. C. The THREE STONE version of an engagement ring can be of any size and shape. It is the symbolism behind this style of ring that is of greater importance, it can be interpreted as the past, present and future or it can have a religious meaning with God being an intricate part of the two of you. The 4 C’s in reference to diamonds stands for: Colour, Cut, Clarity and Carat. COLOUR Ideally, diamonds should be clear with no colour. There is an alpha scale on which diamond colours are graded. Unlike school grades, a “D” is the highest and most desirable grade. An […]

“The ultimate satisfaction for me is being with my son” – Megan Fox, Marie Claire UK, March

After a bit of an absence on the fashion glossies, it’s nice to welcome back yummy mummy Megan Fox to the front covers as she is posing pretty for Marie Claire UK’s March issue. Well, we say pretty, but smouldering is probably a better word – she is rocking that printed Dolce and Gabbana piece like a pro! The brunette beauty seems to have pinged back into her enviable pre-baby shape almost instantly, which is probably a good thing since she told the mag that she definitely wants more kids. “I’ve never been validated by work or fame or Hollywood or any of that,” she said. “The ultimate satisfaction for me is being with my son. All I wanted to do my whole, whole life was have a baby and, now, I’ve finally done it. All I wanted to do my whole, whole life was have a baby and, now, I’ve finally done it. “I just want to give Noah as much of myself as I can. And I want to have more kids. That is where my heart is.” Aw, motherhood definitely agrees with her! 5 of our all-time favourite Elie Saab dresses

A name synonymous with red carpet dressing so ethereal, it leaves us speechless every Awards Season; Elie Saab’s designs are a sartorial dream come true. The Lebanese couturier has dressed everyone from Nicole Kidman to Halle Berry and Jennifer Lopez in his elegantly refined, red-carpet ready gowns, so we don’t expect his bucket list to be very long! But even with all his striking designs on the super-bods of every super-being to reside in the Hollywood hills, Elie Saab only became a household name just over a decade ago, when Halle Berry wore one of his creations to pick up the ‘Best Actress’ award at the 2002 Oscars for her role in Monster’s Ball. And since, the designer has clearly cast an unbreakable spell over A-list town – we can’t get through a red-carpet soirée without a Saab creation making a scene-stealing appearance! Lea Michele in the designer’s crystal-encrusted halter neck design at last week’s Golden Globes was a perfect example of the atelier master’s jaw-drop effect. In honour of one of most reputed names rolling off the tongues of the rich and famous in celeb and fashionville, here are five of our all time favourite Elie Saab dresses for you to drool over. Beyonce, 2007 Golden Globes In Bey’s, or should we say Destiny’s Childs terms, this gown was definitely Bootylicious! Form fitting, it showed off the singer’s assets to perfection, and a plunging neckline and sequin embellishment oozed glamour. Halle Berry, 2002 Oscars This was the look that launched a thousand gowns, and put Elie Saab on the red carpet map. Halle Berry picked up the biggest gong of the night, and looked equally outstanding! A sheer, embroidered body contrasted against a merlot-hued skirt spelt perfection; a defining and unforgettable look, even 11 years on! Rihanna, 2012 American Music […]

Beyonce’s Baracci wedding dress goes on sale for $30K

Remember the gorgeous princess-inspired silk Baracci wedding dress that Beyonce donned for her Best Thing I Never Had music video? Watch the video below if you want to refresh your memories. Or if you just want a good power ballad to blare out of your speakers on this chilly Wednesday afternoon; use your computer mouse as a microphone and lip-sync away! We digress… The Swarovski covered ballgown originally came with a $85,000 price tag (we don’t know whether Bea or her team actually paid that much for it, though) but it’s now being sold for “just” $30,000. Still sounds like an eye-watering amount, but not when you realise it’s had a $55,000 reduction. And was draped on Beyonce’s gorgeous body… surely that’s priceless? So, if you’re a US size 4 and have a spare $30K knocking around (or you think this is a good reason to dip into the “rainy day” fund) you can head to preownedweddingdresses.com and snap it up before someone else beats you to it. Zooey Deschanel vs. Jennifer Lawrence: Who rocked red better at the Golden Globes 2013? (We can’t decide!)

It was a war of the fashion world’s greats over the weekend, as the crème de la crème of Hollywood took to the red carpet for the 2013 Golden Globes. And yes, there were a number of BDOTW-worthy looks floating about, but two ladies in red sent our style radar into overdrive: Zooey Deschanel in Oscar de la Renta, and Jennifer Lawrence in Christian Dior. Both stylish starlets rocked swoonsome, strapless red gowns with voluminous skirts; Zoeey in Pre-Fall 2013 ODLR and Jennifer in Christian Dior Fall 2012 Couture, and both made our Golden Globes Best Dressed list, but we’re still undecided on who looked better. An evidently embarrassing moment, as both stars would’ve laid eyes on each other and met with the other’s horrified, same-dress-different-girl look! But both looks equally floored us, and we love that competition with the red carpet didn’t phase these beauties. Zooey accessorised her look with a waist-accentuating pose and a large pearl necklace, whilst winner on the night of ‘Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical’ award, Jennifer, who is also the new face of Dior, added a metallic belt and Salvatore Ferragamo clutch to her delicious look. We’re going with both looks as winners, but we’ll leave you to decide who rocked red better. Comments below, please!

“I feel fearless” – Janelle Monáe, Elle Canada February

2012 was a fantastic year for the remarkable talent that is Miss Janelle Monáe but we predict 2013 is going to explosive for her. Janelle’s career is going from strength to strength, she is being honoured in the music industry for her raw talent (she’s up for several Grammys, dontcha know!) and she’s been recognised for her iconic fashion choices too. No wonder Elle Canada has snapped her for its February issue. As well as striking some fierce poses for the mag, Janelle gives a great interview where she speaks out about Facebook, her early career, her “crazy side”, and how she actually is a shy girl at heart. “I am naturally shy,” she said in the interview. “That’s what people are most surprised by, because when I’m on stage there’s nothing shy. It’s all electricity. I feel fearless.” She certainly acts fearless when he is doing her thang on stage! Click here to check out more snippets from the interview and see more sneaky pics.

Kate Moss turns X Factor stylist?

We all know that the contestants’ wardrobes are just as an important part of the  X Factor as the singing. Therefore it shouldn’t surprise you to learn that Simon Cowell and the team are pulling out all the stops to ensure the 10-year anniversary series this year will be something special. And there’s no one better than ultimate British supermodel Kate Moss to guarantee that, is there? Instead of parading up and down a makeshift catwalk on the show though, Mossy will reportedly be getting involved behind the scenes, as she will act as stylist to the contestants for one very special Britpop week of the live shows. Sounds pretty cool! “The one-off special is about the show being more than just music,” a source reportedly told Grazia. “He wants Kate talking about her memories, outfits she wore in the 90s and dressing some of the contestants. Kate is definitely up for the challenge. “Simon is absolutely desperate to breathe life back into X Factor. He knows he has to change everything from the judges to the sets to the contestants themselves, but he also wants each show to contain something never seen or done before, something he calls: ‘Blow your pants off moments.’” We hope Kate doesn’t interpret that too literally when she’s styling the contestants. We are giddy with excitement at the thought of Kate Moss being let loose in wardrobe. Are you looking forward to it?

Get Ashley Tisdale’s rock chick shopping look

We do like it when all-American girl Ashley Tisdale covers up. Not because we don’t like her body – on the contrary it’s quite heavenly and we find ourselves getting rather green-eyed about it – but because it means we can actually get the chance to steal her style for ourselves. The former High School Musical cutie treated herself to a spot of shopping a few days ago, and we adore her casual but oh-so-stylish getup. Ashley proved that the cheesy pop days are behind her as she donned a Slayer tee and a studded Motel jacket to complete her rock chick image. She will still always be a Disney starlet in our eyes, but we love her kick ass sartorial decisions and wouldn’t mind getting in on the rocker action ourselves by snapping up her exact jacket and t-shirt. Who’s with us? Studded jacket, £90, available at Motel Rocks Coated skinny jeans, £67.50, J Brand available at Donna Ida Slayer vest, $51, Ava Adorn Black Decade sequin trainers, £53, Adidas available at USC

Raf Simons, Bora Aksu and Inez and Vinoodh design 60 years t-shirt for Fred Perry

60 years in the biz is nothing to snigger at, which is why Fred Perry is celebrating the milestone in style. The brand has enlisted the help of no less than 60 designers, musicians and sports stars to each design a special version of the classic 1952 reproduction shirt – and they’ll all be auctioned off later in the year to raise money for the Amy Winehouse Foundation. The first 25 designs have just been released, and some of the famous faces to take part in the challenge include Dior’s new man in charge Raf Simons (whose tee you can see above), designer Bora Aksu, photography duo Inez and Vinoodh, Olympic cyclist Bradley Wiggins, fashion designer Karen Walker and even the folks over at i-D magazine. You’ll be able to check out the first 25 designs in the flesh at Dover Street Market in London on January 26th. Click here to check out all of the tees in all their glory. 10 of the best trends of 2012

We can’t believe 2012 is drawing to a close so fast, and with festive prep in full blast, we’ve taken out a little time to help you reflect on the trends that defined the runways of 2012. From ornate embellishment to luxe leather; gym gear gone glam to shirtless collars – 2012 brought several lasting pieces and styles to our wardrobes. To refresh your memory, as next season creeps upon the ever-moving world of fashion, here’s to a trip down trend memory lane to refresh your fashion mindset, and cleanse the mental palate to make way for next season’s stunning wares. Sports luxe: Olympic fever gripped the globe this year, and with so much fitness apparel, fine abs and Tom Daley in full view, designers couldn’t help but take gym gear up a few chic notches; off the treadmill and straight onto the runway(with a few modifications, obvs). Embellishment: The SS’12 shows marked the beginning of our obsession with festooning everything from cardis to clutches and slippers to socks. Even for a/w’12, Lanvin and Balmain delivered heavy smatterings of crystals and beading to their fashionable wares, whilst Christopher Kane’s embellished clutches and jeans became summer staples. We approved. Collars: Dismantling the shirt, a firm wardrobe staple, left us with a collar and free reign to do anything to it! What started out as a pretty and prim game of peek-a-boo atop cosy knits Alexa (yes, she) wore with dresses and shirts underneath became a full-blown global phenomenon. Encrusted with stones; crisp white; metallic; printed or Peter Pan versions, the collar did pretty well at pushing the statement necklace of its pedestal. Candy shades: Probably the biggest summer trend to slip into our wardrobes, pastel shades were everywhere! We blame the house of Louis Vuitton for getting us unhealthily hooked on shades of […]

Experience an unusual Christmas with Selfridges

This post brought to you by Selfridges & Co. (with video provided by GoViral). All opinions are 100% mine. Are you in the Christmas spirit yet? Nope? If you're feeling a little like Ebenezer Scrooge at the moment may we suggest taking a moment to watch this cute Christmas video from Selfridges. Titled “Not your usual Christmas” and directed by Bruce Weber, the video is energetic, fun and definitely encompasses everything that Selfridges stands for. It’s probably our favourite Christmas video thus far…. Recently voted "Best Department Store in the World" at the Global Department Store Summit in New York, Selfridges is a national treasure and has a fond place in our heart. What other department store can boast being the sole reason for the existence of Paddington Bear? Yep that’s right. After purchasing a toy bear for his better half from Selfridges on Christmas Eve, author Michael Bond and his wife named the bear Paddington and subsequently two years later, the beloved Paddington Bear was created. If that isn’t enough in 2007 Hermès designed two exclusive sought after Birkin bags in the Selfridges yellow, with over 1000 buyers wanting to snap up the beauties.   From its vibrant window displays to the brilliant selection of must-have designer fashion, oh and not to forget the beauty hall (which is literally a beauty heaven!), we could easily spend a whole day in the store merrily shopping our way through each department snapping up fab Christmas gifts. But thankfully with Selfridges’ fun online gift guide we can escape the Christmas mayhem and get (not quite the same) but a similar fun Selfridges experience from the comfort of our sofa. With a mug of hot chocolate covered in marshmallows and a couple of mince pies by our side we’ve managed to do a bit […]

Style Awards: Top 10 best dressed celebs of 2012

It’s safe to say, 2012 has been a positively chaotic year on many accounts: stealthy fashion musical chairs; the news of a 2013 royal tot, surprise (read: secret) weddings and a fair amount of heartbreak ensued. But one thing far more exciting than all of these juicy prospects combined is the FASHION we witnessed. From Miranda Kerr’s uber-stylish taxi-to-hotel hop, all endless, perfectly bronzed legs and the hottest off-duty ensembles imaginable, to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s ravishing red carpet looks, not forgetting some equally hot lingerie! Diane Kruger left us in a state of fash-induced hyperventilation, thanks to that Christian Dior couture gown whilst Emma Stone really established herself as the unturned stone (excuse the sorrowful pun) of fashion: she.looked.HOT. From Tom Ford to Trapstar, Rihanna has us on trend-led tenterhooks with every outfit she stepped out in, and Alexa, well, she’s just too stylish to even discuss, right? It was the probably the hardest thing we had to do – alongside trying to remember to use Saint Laurent instead of Yves Saint Laurent, and digesting news of R-Patz and  K-Stew’s brief split whilst admiring her red carpet looks – but choosing our 10 best dressed celebs of 2012 was a limiting task. After much thought, picking and choosing, editing and loudly conversing (read: arguing) over frills, hems and necklines, we’ve whittled it down to our Top 10. Here’s to 2012’s best dressed ladies…. Taylor Swift Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Rihanna Miranda Kerr Kristen Stewart Emma Stone Diane Kruger Blake Lively Anne Hathaway Alexa Chung Who was your best dressed of 2012?

The Olsen twins and Alexander Wang among Forbes’ Brightest Fashion Stars

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are never far from a Forbes list at the end of each year, as the twin sisters who started out as child actresses have made themselves a nice little fortune (putting it lightly) with their business empire – a lot of which has been in fashion. Therefore it doesn’t surprise us to learn that they have been named in the Forbes ‘Top 30 Under 30 brightest fashion and art stars of 2012’ list. Congrats girls, well deserved as always. And now onto someone else who has had a pretty epic year in fashion himself… Alexander Wang. The list wouldn’t really have been complete without the designer who has been chosen to take over and potentially revamp Balenciaga would it? Forbes didn’t just celebrate all things fashion though, as former About a Boy and Skins actor Nicholas Hoult, and young actress Chloe Moretz were named as ones to watch, while singers such as Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, our very own Adele, and even the One Direction boys were name-checked in the ‘music world’s brightest young stars’ category. Click here to check out all the people who were recognised for their great  achievements this year. Is there anyone you think was left out? Let us know!

Anne Hathaway, Sienna Miller, Jennifer Lawrence and Sofia Vergara among 2013 Golden Globe nominees!

Ok so there’s only 11 days until actual Christmas, but we have to admit that awards season gets us more excited than any festive holiday. Sorry Santa! We revel in the excitement of staying up all night and keeping a beady eye on who is wearing who on the red carpet while predicting which famous faces will walk away with the coveted accolades. The Golden Globes are the awards that ease us into awards season and really set the bar for the other ceremonies to come, so without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the lucky (and of course talented) names to be nominated for an award. Watch Kristen Stewart’s Hurricane Sandy speech right here

It’s no secret that Kristen Stewart isn’t the best or most confident  public speaker in Hollywood, or even the most talkative of talk show guests or interviewees. However, the actress delivered a very heartfelt and moving speech at yesterday’s Hurricane Sandy benefit in New York’s Madison Square Garden last night, so we’re giving her a huge metaphorical pat on the back for her efforts. Props where props are due. We also think she looked rather lovely in her brightly coloured Jonathan Simkhai playsuit. Watch the video below to hear K-Stew deliver her speech, and to also find out what the likes of comedy genius Ben Stiller and music legend Jon Bon Jovi had to say as well. Enjoy! http://youtu.be/zKU7QQBYIFw

Rock ‘n’ Rolling Stone!

[noskim] Joss Stone leapt back into the public spotlight this year with all the energy and charm that greeted her arrival on the music scene back in 2003. A staunch Devonian – despite spending her early years in Dover, Kent – she carries with her a laid-back and effortless approach to fashion, just as she does to music, whether she’s decorated in one of her trademark floral maxi dresses or something a little more revealing. The secret, it seems, for the 25-year-old, is to try her hardest at whatever she does. “Like everything in life, it’s important to try,” she begins. “I care about what I wear, in the same way I care about my music, or my charity projects, but in everything the aim is always to make myself feel as if I’ve invested everything I can in it. And that doesn’t always come easily – sure, it is hard to change things, but to not try is worse.” Never has that been truer than in relation to the singer’s current music project – a re-recording of ‘Take Good Care’, co-written by Sunday Times war photographer Paul Conroy, and performed with former Eurythmics star Dave Stewart. The collaboration was in support of the Amnesty International Campaign on the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty. “This is a subject that has always been important to me,” Joss continues. “If I can add something to the campaign that makes people sit up and take note, then that’s good enough for me.” And when you’re talking about someone who perfects the idea of looking good without appearing to have tried too hard, it’s clear the multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning performer can turn heads. “Fashion changes quickly but there will always be constants. I love floral stuff, love dresses that glide you along – I think […]

Gwyneth Paltrow pretty in pink for InStyle UK January

InStyle loves a bit of Gwyneth Paltrow, which is why the mag has decided to kick off the new year by putting the beautiful actress on its January 2013 cover. Gwyneth was interviewed by Diane von Furstenberg (a lot of legends in one place!) and it’s clear to see that she felt comfortable around her friend as she really opened up to her.  Gwyn and Di covered a lot of areas during their chat, with some of the subject being Gwyneth’s desire for more babies, her diet, and hubby Chris Martin. “Probably our artistic temperaments together,” she said when asked about what the hardest thing about her marriage was. “Artists are sensitive; there are ups and downs, mood-wise. Musicians need a certain gravitas and focus in order to write. The temperament that goes with someone who is creative can be challenging.” They seem to make it work though! Not long to wait to read more of the interview and see more stunning pics, as the magazine is out tomorrow! Will you be buying the January issue?

Lady Gaga bought 55 things from Michael Jackson’s wardrobe

Looks like the pop star who wears elaborate stage costumes is seeking sartorial inspiration from another musician known for his weird and wonderful wardrobe, as Lady Gaga bought no fewer than 55 pieces previously owned by Michael Jackson at Julien’s Auctions at the weekend. It’s not known which pieces Lady G is now the proud owner of, or how much she spent on the pieces, but it’s being reported that the sale raised $5 million in total! What is she going to do with them, you ask? We thought an MJ tribute concert would be imminent, but the singer Tweeted her plans for the pieces and it doesn’t look like she’s going to chop and change and generally Gaga-fy them, so Michael Jackson fans can rest easy… “The 55 pieces I collected today will be archived & expertly cared for in the spirit & love of Michael Jackson, his bravery, & fans worldwide,” she wrote on Twitter. We definitely think she’s got the MJ bug though, and have a feeling we’re going to see some more Michael Jackson influences in her music as well as her future wardrobe. [Vogue]

Taylor Swift scoops Best Dressed of the Week in Elie Saab

The slightest mention of Elie Saab is enough to get our red carpet gown radar buzzing! Girl of the moment, Taylor Swift, looked stunning in an Elie Saab Spring 2013 gown at the 2012 Aria Awards in Sydney. Taylor channelled Grecian goddess vibes, looking ethereal in a sleeveless chiffon gown, and appeared every inch the red carpet queen! Completing Taylor’s look was a chic, twisted up do; her trademark glossy golden bangs and strong eyes that really set off her beautiful eye colour. Even though the shade of the dress is subtle, and it’s quite a dreamy creation, we’re glad Taylor didn’t go accessory-crazy, instead opting only for statement crystal studs. A classic red carpet look, (or in this case, black carpet!), we can’t fault Taylor’s flawless style and love her in Elie Saab as much as we do in her music videos!

Karmin and Rachel Zoe team up with Coach for Sleigh Bells vid

Great news for all you Coach fans this morning… the brand has partnered with Youtube sensation Karmin and stylist-to-the-stars Rachel Zoe to make a fun music video of the duo remixing the good old holiday classic, Sleigh Bells. We know an abundance of musical stars have taken on the song over the years, but we reckon this version really holds its old among the rest. Definitely one to put on this year’s Christmas background music CD for sure. (Don’t pretend you don’t have one!) And as there’s only one day left until December and it’s white and frosty outside, we think it’s finally acceptable to allow yourselves to get into the festive spirit if you haven’t already. If you like Karmin’s original remix of the song, you can download it for free on the Coach website, which is also where you’ll fin a behind the scenes video of Rachel and Karmin in action. Sneak peek at Steve McCurry’s (very different!) 2013 Pirelli Calendar…

Ok, we know we told you a few months ago that Victoria’s Secret Angel Adriana Lima would become the first ever pregnant Pirelli Calendar girl and we even showed you a cheeky little picture, but further details about the prestigious calendar have been few and far between. Until now… We have some very sneaky peeks at the 2013 Pirelli Calendar, which this year (or next, depending on which way you look at it) was shot by travel photographer Steve McCurry in Rio de Janeiro, and from what we see so far it’s safe to say it’s going in a different direction to previous editions. Gone are the topless photos of gorgeous models, and instead, more artistic pictures of models, musicians and actresses known for their philanthropic work are in their place. Will this go down well with the people who are lucky enough to get a copy of the calendar ? Who knows – but we sure like it! What do you guys think? [Styleite]

Rita Ora vs. Heidi Klum: Who rocked Alexandre Vauthier Couture better?

We love a good old fashion face-off, and this week’s style rivals do it in some very beautiful outfits. Supermodel Heidi Klum wore a stunning, gold, guipure lace dress from the Fall 2012 Alexandre Vauthier Couture collection to the 2012 American Music Awards earlier this month. However, back in September Jay-Z’s protégée Rita Ora wore the same outfit, albeit in a peplum suit version, for the MTV Video Music Awards after-party. Both ladies looked exceptional in their respective outfits, and even opted for the same matching Christian Louboutin guipure lace pumps, but there can only be one queen to the style throne with this look! And this week’s style crown goes to…* drum roll*…wait for it…Rita Ora! By now, you’re probably pretty aware of the immense love we have for risk takers in the A-lister land of fashion, and Rita’s tailored rendition of Heidi’s pretty-but-safe dress gets top marks from us! As much as we adore Heidi’s killer pin-flashing look, it almost feels too tried-and-tested. We love Rita’s risqué neckline, matching heels and signature kooky sunnies which give this prim couture look a fashion forward edge. Do you agree with our verdict? Which look do you prefer?

Selena Gomez inks 3 year Adidas Neo deal

We’re used to seeing former Disney Channel starlet Selena Gomez pull out all the stops on the red carpet with one highly glamorous look after the next, but she’s also going to be sporting some more toned down looks from now on too thanks to her new job. Selena has just been named as a guest designer for the Adidas Neo sportswear label for the next three years, which will not only see her help out with the designing, but also appear in the ad campaigns for the next four seasons. ”It is a great partnership for me because Neo really cares about style and having fun with fashion and allowing you to be yourself,” Selena said. “This is something that’s always been important to me and is important to my fans, too: knowing they can express themselves through wearing whatever clothes they want and feel good about themselves. “I get to wear the clothes first and have a voice and an opinion and I can’t wait to see the results of our new collection.” Exciting! Three years is a long time though, and things might get a bit awkward if she falls out with boyfriend Justin Bieber, as he just so happens to be the face of the brand… [Contact Music]

Midweek Moodboard: Nude

No this isn’t the after-hours edition… the American Music Awards have just got us totally crushing on all things nude right now! We don’t need to tell you the power of a good nude shoe (Kate Middleton – that’s all we need to say) but that’s not where our love for the colour (or lack thereof) ends. As it’s Christmas, rocking up to a glam event in a nude top or dress that’s adorned with sparkles and embellishment would make you stand out in all the right ways, as would donning a plain nude dress or top-and-trouser-combo and accessorising to your heart’s content with brighter accessories.  The possibilities are virtually endless when it comes to the nude trend which is why we are all over it this festive season.
