Anne Hathaway suits up in Viktor & Rolf

An Oscar-winning actress such as Anne Hathaway is used to diversity and versatility on screen, and it looks like she uses the aforementioned diversity and versatility on the red carpet, too. Sure Anne loves an elegant gown or an ultra-feminine dress, but she isn’t afraid to toughen up either (remember her blonde, punk inspired Valentino look at last year’s Met Gala?) or go for something on the more androgynous side. Although Anne is wearing a tailored Viktor and Rolf suit from the duo’s spring/simmer 2014 collection, there’s nothing manly about it; in fact she looks softs and feminine thanks to her pointy heel, subtle make-up and side swept hair. The detailing on the jacket helps girl-ify the outfit too, making this another red carpet style triumph! Miranda Priestly would be so proud!

Kate Moss is the (haunting) new face of Alexander McQueen!

We’d recognise Kate Moss’s signature pout anywhere, but the 40-year-old supermodel has been given a bit of a make-over in the brand new Alexander McQueen spring/summer 2014 ad campaign. Mossy was shot by Steven Klein for the print ads, as  well as a short Peeping Tom inspired film. As the name suggests, the short film shows a stranger “peeping” at Kate while holding a doll of her (creepy, much?!), watching her take her clothes off. Sounds pretty dark and chilling, but Kate’s depiction is hauntingly brilliant. We wonder why it’s taken the British brand so long to snap her up, considering the close friendship she had with Alexander McQueen himself… Good things comes to those who wait, and this ad campaign has definitely been worth it! Are you glad to see Kate Moss as the brand new face of Alexander McQueen?

Vanessa Hudgens turns up the glam factor at Gimme Shelter premiere

Let’s end the working week on a style high, shall we? And we think you’ll agree that sartorial highs don’t get much grander than this look courtesy of Vanessa Hudgens. The stunning actress attended the New York premiere of her new film, Gimme Shelter, and absolutely owned the red carpet in a floor-sweeping black dress from the Monique Lhuillier spring/summer 2013 collection. We’d love to say that Vanessa has come a long way since her High School Musical days because we love a good style transformation story, but we think her red carpet style has always been on point. Vanessa kept all other accessories to a minimum, leaving the dress and her effortless beauty to do all the talking, and kept her hair in a loose, slightly disheveled side plait to add a tough of edginess to a high-glamour look. Rosario Dawson gets a mention too for looking very chic in her monochrome ensemble!

Banana Republic collaborates with Marimekko for limited edition capsule collection

We were suitably blown away with the Banana Republic x L’Wren Scot collaboration (mainly because the pieces could have come straight out of a L’Wren Scott lookbook!) but now it looks like Banana Republic has another partnership in the works. Banana Republic has joined forces with Finnish brand Marimekko for a limited edition capsule collection of women’s clothes and accessories, and from what we can see in the pic above, it’s going to be a good’un! “The stunning thing about Marimekko is that everyone has heard of it or has had some history with it because of the beautiful prints,” said Melloney Birkett, a spokesperson for Banana Republic. Key pieces of the collection include classic Banana Republic Hampton pants in a Marimekko inspired black and white polka dot pattern, bold printed zip clutches, polka dot ballet flats, and a dramatic full skirt which, if you cast your minds back to a few weeks ago, we told you was one of the ultimate spring/summer pieces to own. We can expect the collection, priced between $39.40 and $149, to drop in stores worldwide and online from May. What do you think of the first look above? [Fashion Times]

Keira Knightley underwhelms at Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit premiere

Following a short but noticeable absence from the red carpet, we were really looking forward to Keira Knightley‘s next big premiere so we could see her really shine in a highly glamorous ensemble. The vintage-inspired Chanel she wore last week got us really excited about things to come, but we feel she might have missed a trick at the London premiere of Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.  Although Keira looked very chic and elegant in a black Proenza Schouler outfit from the spring/summer 2014 collection, we don’t think it screamed “I’m back on the red carpet with a vengeance; I am a fashion goddess, her me roar” as we were expecting. There’s nothing wrong with this outfit, the styling or indeed Keira’s flawless hair and make-up – the red lip in particular is to die for – but we were expecting her to dominate the red carpet with a fierce sweeping dress from one of her go-to designers. A great look, but we were expecting something bigger from one of our red carpet favourites; where do you stand?

Household chores made glamorous in Agent Provocateur’s SS14 ad campaign

Never have daily chores looked more glamorous, as Agent Provocateur draws inspiration from the Stepford Wives for its spring/summer 2014 ad campaign. It was shot by Miles Aldridge and stars 18-year-old Hailey Clauson. “I was interested in the irony behind the idea of the ‘perfect’ woman, unfazed by the everyday pressures of life,” said creative director Sarah Shotton. “Our campaign girl has it all, she’s a lady in the street and a wildcat in the bedroom and the collection mirrors her pretty perfection.” Isn’t that every man’s idea of the perfect woman? Hailey follows in the very famous footsteps of Helena Christensen, Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Kate Moss; do you think she’s done a good job? Click here to see more pics from the stunning photoshoot. We don’t know about you, but we’re feeling inspired to do some housework…

Watch Cara Delevingne’s animal tea party for Mulberry SS14 video campaign

Earlier this month we showed you the hotly anticipated Mulberry spring/summer 2014 ad campaign images featuring the British brand’s fave model, Cara Delevingne, plus a host of furry and feathered friends. Well, now it’s time to check out the newly-released accompanying video, and it’s just as delightful as we expected. We particularly love the soundtrack – Jack Buchanan’s classic Everything Stops for Tea. We couldn’t think of a more appropriate song! The campaign was shot by Tim Walker and art directed by Ronnie Cooke Newhouse at House and Holme. And if you want to get better acquainted with the menagerie of animals Cara is sharing the spotlight with, allow us to introduce you to: Ivor the Patterdale Terrier, Ged the Parson’s Jack Russell, Fraser the Harlequin Great Dane,?William the Fawn Great Dane,?Pukka the Horsefield Tortoise,?Archie the Umbrella Cockatoo,?Spud the Moluccan Cockatoo,?Percy the Great White Pelican,?and Dusty the Welsh Section A pony. Christopher Kane bandage dress: Yay or Nay?

New year, new dress. You know the drill! But we’re not talking any old yawn-inducing number. No. Turn your attention to this eye-catching creation from British fashion genius, Christopher Kane. Spring/summer 2014 was all about show-stopping numbers splashed in painterly designs, and Kane’s take on the season’s colour-crazed affair, with the elastic-panelled bandage dress (£1,100), is a tamed version for the more refined dress wearers among us. The flattering fit, sexy, off-the-shoulder detail and striking effect of primary colours on a black background give this dress serious look-at-me appeal, but would you take the plunge and own it? Check out the reasons we’re saying yay and (very sensibly) nay to this Kane delight below… Yay Updated LBD: We’re always behind a spin on the classic LBD, and this dress offers the perfect excuse to flip the evening classic on its head for some fashion fun. Flattering fit: The stretch-jersey fabric and bandage style of this dress make for a form-flattering silhouette. Perfect, if you’re planning to show off your curves Kim K style. Great length: The knee-length cut makes it an ideal contender for the office – if you’re one of the lucky creative types with a fashion-forward boss, that is!  Nay Trend-centric: Season in, season out, Kane’s dresses are the must-have piece (loop tape velvet dress, anyone?), so you’re guaranteed to find this dress on a legion of Kane’s fans. Price: Sitting pretty at a hefty £1,100, your bank balance won’t be looking so smug post-purchase! One-wear dress: Although the brights-against-black contrast is a winner, how many times can you (honestly) say you will make a repeat-wear with this number? If it’s destined for the one-wear-then-despair pile, steer clear. But, if you love bringing back seasonal big-hitters, shop away. Christopher Kane elastic-panelled bandage dress, £1,100, available at Liberty.

Trend alert: Grunge!

If you paid attention to some of the biggest spring/summer 2014 catwalk shows, then you’ll already know that grunge is making a huge comeback for the new season. Hedi Slimane was all about grunge and rock ‘n’ roll for the Saint Laurent spring/summer 2014 show, and Marc Jacobs also went dark and alternative for his final Louis Vuitton collection. (A great way to bow out, don’t you think?) So, with two of the biggest fashion players championing the trend, we have every reason to get behind it too! We’ve already seen the celebs try their hand at the grunge trend by incorporating certain aspects into their red carpet outfits and as they go about their everyday lives, and now you can get in on the trend too with these very basic items. 1. Our top pick for going grunge is a leather jacket. Nothing says attitude better than a fierce bit of leather draped across your shoulders, and this Christopher Kane jacket is the perfect hue to wear over the rest of your black clothes and accessories. Christopher Kane cracked leather biker jacket, £2,490 £871.50 2. Make your eyes stand out by lining them with the darkest and boldest hue of black eyeliner you can find. Yves Saint Laurent black eyeliner, £24 3. A great thing about the grunge trend is being able to wear flats; black leather boots will not only convey attitude, but you’ll be super warm and comfy in the process too. You can be bad-ass without putting your feet through hell, too! Dune Black leather biker boots, £195 4. The more studs and spikes in your accessories, the better! This clutch bag pretty much has it all, doesn’t it? Pierre Balmain studded clutch, £593.91 £386.04 5. A band tee is the final step to completing your […]

Lupita Nyong’o and Elizabeth Olsen for Miu Miu’s SS14 ad campaign

We told you yesterday that Lupita Nyong’o would be taking over the fashion and on-screen worlds this year, and it looks like we were onto something. Not only did she wow us on the Golden Globes red carpet and burst onto the latest Dazed and Confused cover, but now she has a fashion ad campaign under her belt too. From Miu Miu, no less! Lupita is joined by some of our other young silver screen faves in the Miu Miu spring/summer 2014 ad campaign, and they are Elizabeth Olsen (who is chanelling Rapunzel, with her super-long, super-sleek locks), Elle Fanning and Bella Heathcote. “The actresses’ poses, full of personality, convey their diverse points of view, effortlessly translating the new spirit of the Miu Miu woman”, Miuccia Prada said of the campaign. The girls were shot by Inez and Vinoodh, and have all been styled to a vintage yet totally unique and individual theme. Which one is your favourite? [RCFA]

Suki Waterhouse named Superga brand ambassador

Move over Rita Ora, Superga has a brand new leading lady, and it’s none other than Suki Waterhouse! Suki Waterhouse is slowly but surely taking over the fashion world; she’s already poses for Burberry, and now the spring/summer 2014 ad campaign for Superga is the latest fash project under her belt. Although Suki totally fits in with the British Superga theme, there’s a slight difference with the latest ad campaign… Superga has introduced Sprezzatura – the Italian art of looking good without trying too hard. It also explores how fashion industry insiders interpret Sprezzatura in their own signature style. Pretty cool, right? We think Suki Waterhouse is Sprezzatura personified! She has some pretty big shoes to fill as both Rita and Alexa Chung have appeared in Superga ads over the years, but we think Suki definitely holds her own. Do you think Suki Waterhouse makes a good brand ambassador for Superga?

Alexander Wang taps Daria Werbowy for Balenciaga

We knew that things would change when Alexander Wang took the reigns at Balenciaga. We saw a more minimal spring/summer 2014 collection presented on the runway, and it looks like the ad campaigns are going in a different direction too. A dark and somewhat gothic one! Alexander Wang chose the one and only Daria Werbowy to showcase his latest work, in a moody spring/summer 2014 ad campaign. “I wanted to convey a sense of strength and knowingness. Daria is definitely not naïve,” Alexander Wang said, before adding that the plants and shadows we see in the pic add “a touch of mystery and dark attraction.” We’ll say! Daria was shot by Steven Klein, and we can expect to see the ad break in the February issues of our favourite fashion glossies. We love this Daria Werbowy ad, but does anyone else think Alexander Wang could have also chosen former Balenciaga girl Kristen Stewart? After all, her role in Twilight proves that she has that dark, brooding and gothic look down to a ‘t’… [WWD]

Riccardo Tisci and Nike collaboration confirmed!

It’s official: Riccardo Tisci and Nike are officially working together on a fab new collaboration rather aptly entitled NIKE RT. “When I got the call, it sounded so strong, so perfect for my DNA,” the Givenchy designer said about the collaboration. “It’s a big honour for me, especially because they’re always working with sports people. “I couldn’t bring them technology, instead I brought my style, what people like me for and what the young generation follows me for. It’s strong without being loud.” We have every faith that the collaboration will be a roaring success. After all, Riccardo Tisci worked with Marc Turlan and Nike back in 2010, and also contributed to the Converse Addict All Star line in 2011, so the proof that he can delivery something amazing is already there. The line is slated to launch in the spring, so keep your eyes peeled! [Telegraph]

Manolo Blahnik swaps London for New York

Looks like Manolo Blahnik’s time in London was short lived, as the designer is boarding a plane for the Big Apple next month. Despite showing on schedule for the first time at London Fashion Week in September, the designer will now be heading to New York Fashion Week to debut his new season collection. “Last season’s presentation in London was an experiment for us as we have never been on schedule before,” he said. “We had a very positive response, so this season we decided to give a chance to the New York audience to get an insight into how my imagination works. Next season we might take it to another city – who knows? I would like to directly communicate what I do and my inspirations to people in different cities. “I adore London, it’s my home,” he said. “I am not abandoning London and definitely will be back in the future.” We should hope so, too! Do we think he will head to Paris or Milan in September for the spring/summer 2015 season? Only time will tell! [Vogue]

Miley Cyrus is the new face of Marc Jacobs!

Miley Cyrus has probably offended a lot of people these past 12 months, but Marc Jacobs definitely isn’t one of them. So, it comes as no surprise to learn that the all-singing, all-twerking former Disney starlet has been named as the brand new face of Marc Jacobs. Congrats, Miley! “We all just love her and her entire being, her energy, her talent, her intelligence, everything,” Marc Jacobs said about his choice of ad campaign star. “There’s nothing I don’t like about her. She is just genuine and very natural.” Shot by David Sims (as MJ’s usual choice for his ads – Juergen Teller – didn’t want to shoot Miley – harsh!) and styled by LOVE magazine’s Katie Grand on an abandoned beach, Miley is also joined by Natalie Westling and Esmerelda Seay Reynolds in the spring/summer 2014 ad campaign. “We wanted this beach with girls kind of sulky and broody, and we thought it would be cool if it was Miley with what could be two friends, feeling distant and quite dark,” Marc Jacobs continued. What do you think of the new Marc Jacobs ad? We’re in love! [WWD]

Kim Kardashian shows off her curves in Beverley Hills

Pretty pastels are the only colour trend to be rocking this upcoming spring/summer 2014 season (as demonstrated by Girls star Allison Williams on her gorgeous InStyle UK February cover), and it looks like Kim Kardashian has also received that message loud and clear. The yummy mummy and soon-to-be Mrs Kanye West was snapped in a killer ensemble while on a shopping spree in Beverley Hills, no doubt adding more fabulous items to her already enviable wardrobe. It looks like all her hours in the gym getting her post-baby body back have paid off, as Kim showcased her ample cleavage in a skin-tight cropped top (was it too tight? We – and probably all the red blooded males in existence – don’t think so) and her world-famous derriere in a below-the-knee turquoise high-waisted pencil skirt. Kim accessorised with some stunning pastel pink Manolo Blahniks, and an oversized Celine coat that, let’s face it, will go with absolutely everything and never go out of style. Y’know, just in just in case you were tempted to get it for yourself and needed some reasons to justify it! Golden, perfectly styled hair and flawless goddess-like make-up completed her look. If only we looked that good while shopping…

Sandra Bullock is a vision in pink and orange Alex Perry

We learnt last year that pink and orange is a winning colour combination for Sandra Bullock, so we totally understand why she decided to give it another go. The stunning actress stole the show as she arrived at the Palm Spring International Film Festival Award Gala in, you guessed it, Palm Springs at the weekend, wearing a bold and eye-catching Alex Perry sheath dress for the occasion. She accessorised with leg elongating nude pumps, a gorgeous gold clutch to match her golden glow, sleek swept back brunette shiny locks, and perfect make-up. We knew there was a reason we looked up to Sandra Bullock; we’re pretty excited to see what else she has to offer this year. We reckon she’s going to blow us away during awards season if this sneak preview is anything to go by.

“Following a trend does feel quite oppressive” – Erdem Moralioglu

With Couture Fashion Week hitting Paris later this month, the autumn/winter 2014 collections making their runway debut next month and the current spring/summer 2014 a campaigns still doing the rounds, we will totally forgive you if you’re a bit overwhelmed with trends. But don’t worry too much, because Erdem Moralioglu doesn’t think they’re as important as they used to be! “It’s impossible to escape the idea that there are certain movements in a season – the same as there are with architecture and art – though I think the idea of simply following a trend does feel quite oppressive,” he said. “I’ve been obsessed with the way women looked since I was very young and was always either making dresses for my sister’s dolls or drawing them,” he continued. “I thought, ‘Can this obsession of mine become a job? Is it something you do?’ Eventually I discovered it was.” Erdem has dressed everyone from Alexa Chung to First Lady Michelle Obama, and certainly knows a thing or two about making women look and feel good, so we’re all too happy to listen to what he has to say. Not only is the proof in the aesthetic of his designs, but he also has a shiny Red Carpet accolade that he picked up at the 2013 British Fashion Awards at the end of last year. Do you agree with him re trends? It’ll certainly make updating our wardrobes easier and cheaper if we weren’t so influenced by the current trends, right? Let us know your thoughts! [Fashion Times]

Rosie Huntington Whiteley wows in plunging Balmain mini

Although Rihanna was announced as the brand new face of Balmain a matter of days ago (click here to check out the spring/summer 2014 ad campaign images in case you’ve been living under a rock all week and haven’t seen them yet!), we can’t help but think Rosie Huntington Whiteley would make a good spokesperson for the French brand too, especially if the pic above is anything to go by. The stunning British model wore a sexy, plunging black and white long sleeved mini dress from the spring/summer 2012 collection (seems like ages ago we saw that collection debut on the runway, doesn’t it?) while attending The AEM Association Children of the World for Rwanda in Paris earlier this week. Although we weren’t in attendance, we would bet good money that she turned heads wherever she went! She teamed her dress with some edgy black boots and a freshly blow-dried voluminous hairdo, not to mention some feline-esque eyes that Alexa Chung would no doubt be very proud (or maybe even jealous) of. Sex goddess, much? [Image]

Marc Jacobs goes out on a high with final Louis Vuitton SS14 ad campaign

First look: Rihanna for Balmain

Well, this is an unexpectedly wonderful surprise… Rihanna is the brand new face of Balmain! The Bajan songstress was shot for the spring/summer 2014 ad campaign by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin in New York, with creative direction from Atelier Franck Durand and styling by Ri Ri’s personal stylist Mel Ottenberg. Doesn’t she look incredible in the two images above? The collection looks like it was made for her, which might not be the hardest thing to believe… “In front of the camera, she makes you feel like she is the only girl in the world,” said creative director Oliver Rousteing. “When the woman that inspires you wears your creations, your vision feels complete.” Aw, we never had the creative director of Balmain down as a huge Rihanna fan, but then again, who isn’t in love with Rihanna on and off the stage? Valentino collaborates with Havaianas!

It’s practically the middle of December, and unless you’re one of the lucky ones living in Oz and basking in the Australian sunshine, we bet that flip flops are the last things on your minds. Or any type of open toed footwear, for that matter. But flip flops are firmly on our minds this cold December morning, as it’s just been announced that the one and only Valentino has added his chic and couture-like touch to a limited edition collection of Havaianas flip flops. The Brazilian brand has been going strong for 51 years, and has collaborated with the likes of Missoni, Matthew Williamson and Sass & Bide in the past, but it isn’t showing any signs of slowing down; especially now that Valentino Garavani is on board. The collection may not come as a complete shock to you eagle-eyed men’s fashion week viewers, as you may remember that Valentino’s models strutted down the spring/summer 2014 catwalk in some very cool pairs of Havaianas. Way to whet our appetites, team Valentino! The flip flops go on sale from January, with prices starting from £175 for women and £350 for men. [Telegraph]

Rupert Sanderson and Antonio Berardi’s exclusive collaboration

Another epic collaboration to get excited about before the end of the year, as the two very talented designers Antonio Berardi and Rupert Sanderson are joining forces for an exclusive collection with Net-a-Porter. Don’t thank them though – thank Gwyneth Paltrow, as it was apparently all her idea! You may recall that Antonio Berardi’s models were kitted out in Rupert Sanderson shoes for his spring/summer 2014 show, but their initial pairing was thanks to Gwyneth Paltrow who wore the designers’ pieces together. The Rupert Sanderson for Antonio Berardi shoes all feature  transparent elements so, although they look like a sandal, actually fit like a court and provide the wearer (that’s us, hopefully!) with ultimate comfort as well as style. “There is a true glamour to Antonio’s work,” Rupert Sanderson said. “The idea was to create a small evening shoe collection of super chic, sexy and iconic pieces that will stand the test of time to compliment my collection,” Antonio Berardi continued. “Something completely different and exciting.” We definitely think different and exciting  are words to accurately describe the upcoming collaboration, especially if the sneak peeks we see above is anything to go by. The Rupert Sanderson for Antonio Berardi collection is on sale from next week in case you have a spare £795 left over from Christmas present shopping. [Telegraph]

Pixie Lott’s Clueless Moschino Cheap and Chic ensemble

Don’t panic or feel the need to adjust your PCs, this picture was in fact taken on Tuesday night and not back in the nineties on the set of one of our favourite films of all time, Clueless. Pixie Lott took a leaf out of Cher Horowitz and maybe even Legally Blonde’s Elle Woods’ sartorial books when she attended the Fashion Fringe 10th Anniversary party in London on Tuesday evening, and decided to  go for a Moschino Cheap and Chic spring/summer 2014 look for the occasion. The singer already has the blonde locks and enviable figure, so her sugary-sweet pink attire has made her the perfect contender for a real life Barbie doll. We would have eased off on the heavy eye make-up for a look this sweet and innocent, but we actually like the rest of it. She thought of a theme and stuck to it from head to toe. If Fashion Fringe has taught us anything, fashion risks are a must and that’s exactly what Pixie Lott did. Do you like her look or should she have gone for something more age and time appropriate?

Solange Knowles, we love your style!

It goes without saying that Beyonce’s little sis is one heck of a style maven. Trend setter, think-outside-the-sartorial-box(er) – whatever you want to call her, we are obsessed with her and her unrivalled sense of style. She is a designer’s dream, and here are a few reasons why: 1. We bet this is exactly how Diane Von Furstenberg imagined this jumpsuit being worn when she was designing it. We wouldn’t change a thing about this look – the prints and colours complement Solange perfectly. If we didn’t know any better we would say it was made just for her! 2. Colour but without overdoing it – that’s exactly what this Sportmax yellow dress was all about. The white shoes and sugary-pink lips added even more colour to the ensemble – a winner all round! 3. Solange Knowles and bright colours and bold patterns go hand in hand, but that doesn’t mean she can’t do understated too. This 3.1 Phillip Lim ensemble is Solange’s way of toning down, and we think she is perfection personified. We love the hair too! 4. Solange Knowles has a killer pair of legs, and she isn’t afraid to show them off! The Etro spring/summer 2014 blouse was the main attraction of this look, which Solange helped emphasise even more thanks to her matching bright lippie. The hair is divine, too! 5. Want to do sexy the quirky way? Look to Solange’s Grammy outfit for inspiration. The green Ralph & Russo Couture dress fit her like a glove (we adore the pink shoes she accessorised with too) and her ultra-voluminous “look at me” hair commanded the perfect amount of attention. Who else but Solange?

Alexa Chung is the new face of Longchamp!

Alexa Chung has followed in the footsteps of Coco Rocha and our very own Kate Moss, as she has become the latest face of French leather goods brand Longchamp! The spring/summer 2014 ad campaign images were shot in sunny St Tropez last month by Max Vadukul, and will break in the February editions of some of our favourite mags including Elle and Vogue. The main focus of the ads, apart from Alexa obviously, is the new drool-worthy Escales collection. “For the new Escales collection – which is cheerful, colourful and bursting with energy – we needed a woman who was both chic and modern,” said Marie-Sabine Leclercq, a spokesperson for the label. “Alexa Chung is the woman who embodies it the best. Her enchanting gaze, which is very strong and very present, gives the campaign a lot of personality. She has energy and confidence. “The whole team fell under her spell. She immediately had a real vision and made a very on-point contribution to the looks for the shoot. There was such a synergy and an energy that we all went home delighted with this initial experience with her.” Wow, we think that’s the highest praise we’ve ever heard someone give an ad campaign star; way to go Alexa! Maybe Longchamp will do a Mulberry and create a bag inspired by her since she impressed the brand so much… watch this space! [Vogue]

First Look: Lady Gaga for Versace

See, not all fashion rumours are lies! Earlier this month it was speculated that Lady Gaga had been tapped as the newest face of Versace, and this morning we have this stunning ad campaign image which conclusively proves that the rumours were true! Doesn’t Donatella Lady Gaga, look fantastic? Mother Monster was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott for the spring/summer 2014 Versace ads, and it’s not hard to see where the styling inspiration came from. We bet Lady Gaga loved channelling Donatella Versace, especially since she penned a song about her which appears on her brand new album ARTPOP. Watch this space as more Lady Gaga for Versace ad campaign images will be unveiled in due course, including this badboy which was tweeted by Lady G herself. What do you think of the first look image above?

Anna Dello Russo vs. Lily Collins…Who wore Givenchy better?

Along with ‘It’ bags and must-have heels, cult sweatshirts and jumpers have gained serious traction in the past months. From the Kenzo eye sweater to Brian Lichtenberg’s collection of ‘Homies’ imprinted beanies and tops, logo mania has well and truly taken over. And now, this week’s fash-off contenders, Anna Dello Russo and Lily Collins, are also doing their bit for branding by sporting the same sell-out Givenchy Bambi print jumper – at the same event! Attending the spring/summer 2014 Givenchy runway show in Paris, the editor famed for taking “fashion showers” was spotted outside the show venue, aptly in said sweater. Needing no introduction to the camera, Anna Dello Russo teamed hers with a waist-cinching belt, black clutch and statement ankle boots. But, not too far away (on the opposite side of the front row, we presume), Lily Collins was also wearing the same printed sweater, albeit with a very un-ADR spin. Going for more glam goth than golden glamazon, Lily went with a sheeny vampish lip, black ankle strap sandals and matching clutch. A selection of bracelets gave the final finishing touch. So, who wins in the battle of the Bambis? Oh, we do love you ADR, but that tan and accessory overkill just isn’t working for us. Fashion shower detox, maybe? Lily, you’ve got this one hands down. Agree with our style verdict? Whose look wins for you? Tell us in the comments section below! Givenchy Bambi and female form print jumper, £853.51, available at Barneys. [Image: Anna; Lily]

Lady Gaga for Versace?

Rumours are rife this morning that Lady Gaga might be starring in Versace’s spring/summer 2014 ad campaign… and as a result of aforementioned rumours, we haven’t been able to think about anything else! Although reps for Versace and Gaga are keeping schtum, Mother Monster was apparently shot for the new campaign by photography legends Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot – two of Lady G’s favourite men behind camera lens. We can totally see why Versace might have asked Lady Gaga to appear in its new-season campaign… Not only did she write a song for her new album ARTPOP dedicated to the one and only Miss Donatella Versace (which the lady in question said she loved, by the way!) but there’s no denying that she would also look cracking in the pieces. They’re a darn sight more toned-down than some of her current outfit choice; plus she can make pretty much anything work for her! Watch this space! [Vogue]

Rita Ora and Taylor Swift wow on BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards red carpet

Although they are both successful singers, Rita Ora and Taylor Swift are quite different. They have a different audience, different sounds and different looks… but they were united in stealing the sartorial show at last night’s BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards. Taylor Swift, one of the presenters, looked sweet yet sophisticated in a gorgeous turquoise dress from the Jenny Packham autumn/winter 2013 collection. She proved that Jenny Packham can do short and sweet styles just as well as she does long, sweeping and smoldering styles that Kate Middleton and Dita von Teese favour. The dress fitted her like a glove, and her subtle waves and light pink lipstick complemented it wonderfully. Rita Ora chose to make more of an in-your-face statement on the red carpet by stepping out in a white feathered dress from the brand new Marchesa spring/summer 2014 collection. The dress certainly stood out a mile, but Rita kept the rest of her look – hair, make-up and accessories – simple, so the dress could do all the talking. Two of our best dressed ladies on the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards red carpet, for sure! [Images]

Jil Sander leaves her eponymous brand, again

We feel like we’re getting a serious case of déjà vu, but it’s just been announced that Jil Sander will be leaving her eponymous label. This is the third time that the designer has come and gone from her namesake brand… “On behalf of the group I want to thank Jil Sander for her remarkable contribution to the brand over this period,” Jil Sander chief executive Alessandro Cremonesi said in a statement today. “Her outstanding design and creative leadership have been crucial in reinforcing the brand and positioning it to foster further prosperous growth”. Her presence and absence definitely make a difference to the Jil Sander label. The spring/summer 2014 collection that recently make its runway debut during Milan Fashion Week (pictured above) was her last collection; the autumn/winter 2014 collection that will debut in February next year will reportedly be created by the in-house design team. We’ll just have to wait and see what they come up with. Now the big question is: who is going to replace her once again? [WWD]

Marion Cotillard is Worst Dressed of the Week in Christian Dior

We’re not fans of dismissing a to-die-for Dior look, but Marion Cotillard gave us good reason to temporarily detour from our devout appreciation of the luxury fashion house. Slipping into a cocoon back dazzler of a dress – fresh off the spring/summer 2014 runway – Marion appeared at ELLE’s 20th Annual Women in Hollywood bash, held in Los Angeles earlier this week, and on all counts of styling, we just weren’t impressed by this grey red carpet effort! Not only did the silhouette appear frumpy, but the look screamed “effortless styling” for all the wrong reasons. A sharp Dior dress, the kind we’re used to seeing Marion sporting, would’ve been just fine! And not only that, but we’re pretty convinced those Dior ankle-tie sandals are a camouflage tactic, because they do a great job of blending into the grey carpet beneath! Emulating much of the runway look, Marion went accessory free, and opted to wear her hair in a low, centre-parted bun – a hairdo that seemed more suited to a saintly Valentino look, than a standout dress like this one. Although you never sartorially disappoint, Mademoiselle Cotillard, this one’s definitely for the ‘ditch’ pile. What do you think of Marion’s look? [Image]

Miley Cyrus tones down and glams up in sparkly Marc Jacobs

We told you last week that Miley Cyrus would be presenting her good pal Marc Jacobs with an award at the 30th Annual Night of Stars event in New York, and sure enough that’s what she did last night. Miley obviously paid tribute to Marc Jacobs by attending the event in one of his designs, and although the night was more about the recipients of the accolades than the guests and presenters, we think it’s safe to say that Ms Cyrus commanded a lot of attention on the red carpet. This time for all the right reasons! While she covered up in the traditional sense, she could resist exposing some flesh – however the plunging backless design of her glittering Marc Jacobs spring/summer 2014 dress was more racy and sexy as opposed to trashy. This is definitely the best Miley Cyrus has looked in months; we may be being a tad optimistic but we hope this isn’t the last we see of a more demure Miley.

Anna Kendrick is Worst Dressed of the Week in Alberta Ferretti

You know that gutting feeling you get, when a show-stopping runway look just doesn’t translate so brilliantly in real life? Yeah, that. And, sadly, we’re suffering from a serious case of it this week. Disappointing us in a runway-to-real-life situation this week is Anna Kendrick, who took to the red carpet for the screening of Drinking Buddies during the 57th BFI London Film Festival, earlier this week, in a spring/summer 2014 Alberta Ferretti skirt and crop top ensemble. Although the floral wash has winter bloom appeal, the runway look was by far our favourite; a slice of midriff was on show, whilst ribbon-tie flats and drop earrings in vibrant orange sealed the sartorial deal. OK, we get it, we know. The model on the runway, what with her endless legs and Amazonian glow, was bound to look impeccable. But on Anna, the look just didn’t sit right. The full-bodied A-line skirt we love, but the crop top fell awkwardly on the waist band, concealing the waist-cinching effect of the skirt. The simple black pumps and matching clutch go well with the bold look, but we’re digging a little more midriff display! Top marks for hair and make-up, though. What do you think? Is our WDOTW a fair decision? [Image: Zimbio]

Eliza Doolittle dares to bare at Attitude Magazine Awards

Eliza Doolittle has a bangin’ body – and we think she wants everyone to know it! The Brit singer attended the Attitude Magazine Awards last night, and opted to wear a dress hot off the Julien Macdonald spring/summer 2014 catwalk for her red carpet appearance. The dress was provocative enough on the runway, but Eliza managed to make it even more saucy with her leg-elongating nude heels from Kurt Geiger, big hair, and scarlet lippie. Oh, and some sassy posing of course! She left little to the imagination, and definitely took the term “attitude” to a whole new, literal level. Although we weren’t on the red carpet ourselves, we’re willing to bet good money that all eyes were on her for the majority of the evening. What do you make of her look? Too daring or does she pull it off?

Lacoste LIVE presents Unconventional Iceland

The brand new Lacoste LIVE autumn/winter 2013 video campaign has just been released, and it looks like it’s as “unconventional” as ever! This time around, Lacoste LIVE heads to the picturesque city of Reykjavik, Iceland for the sixth installment of the Unconventional Talents campaign, as the brand celebrates the rare, brilliant and unconventional talents of Scandinavian duo Gudmundur and Hulda. First off we have Gudmundur, who is not only a graphic designer, but is a musician too – both talents which have been displayed in the new video. Hulda is just as talented; although she has just started her modelling career she loves spending time behind the camera as well as in front of it, as she cites photography as her greatest passion. And it looks like she’s pretty good at it, too! Not just a pretty face, it seems. The Lacoste LIVE Unconventional Iceland autumn/winter 2013 campaign captures the true essence of the country’s fine Capital through a unique perspective. Stunning frosty views juxtaposed with effortlessly cool, on-trend Lacoste threads to a dramatic and enticing Eurocentric electronica soundtrack – what’s not to love? We wonder where the Lacoste LIVE team will take us on our next journey for the spring/summer 2014 ad campaign… any guesses?

Is Rita Ora the new face of Chanel?

If we are to believe the speculation, Rita Ora may very well be the brand new face of Chanel… news which is making us very giddy with excitement indeed. This news doesn’t really surprise us considering she was on the front row for the Chanel spring/summer 2014 show during Paris Fashion Week. “Taking a midnight stroll with the man who inspires me to be glamorous at all times without a hint of doubt. Love you uncle Karl,” she wrote on her Instagram while posting some pictures of her antics with Karl Lagerfeld and Cara Delevingne. She also captioned another picture with the following: “HORNS ON HORNS ON HORNS….#CoCoBaby #KL #secret #surprise” The words Karl Lagerfeld, Coco, Secret and Surprise all point to good things so we can’t wait until someone lets the cat out the bag and lets us know what is officially happening. It would be a great addition to her already very impressive fashion CV which also boasts ads for DKNY and Material Girl, among others. We would love to see Rita Ora star alongside BFF Cara Delevingne in a Chanel ad… wouldn’t you? [Metro]

Katy Perry is innocent/sexy school girl in Henry Holland

Katy Perry has that innocent yet sexy school girl mix down to a tee. She got geek chic so right a few years ago in her Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F) music video (and as it’s Friday, we might as well watch it once or twice to get prepared for the weekend ahead!) and her latest school girl look is just as successful. Katy made an appearance on the Jimmy Fallon show at the Rockerfeller Center in New York last night, and opted to wear an instantly recognisable collared religious top from the brand spanking new Henry Holland spring/summer 2014 collection, paired with a pleated leather Belstaff skirt, knee high socks and cute pigtails in her hair. Despite the innocence, we predict this look will drive a lot of boys wild. What do you think? Do you love it as much as we do or is Britney Spears the only female singer who can pull off the school girl look for you?

Is gold the new black?

Is gold the new black? Well if the collections displayed on the New York, London, Milan and Paris spring/summer 2014 catwalks last month were anything to go by, we’re going to say a big fat yes! Gold is always going to be on-trend; there’s something about the rich and luxurious colour that we can’t seem to get enough of regardless of the reason. We were very pleased with what we saw during Fashion Month, as gold was very prominent on the catwalks of the world, as designers from Dries van Noten to Versace to everyone else in-between opted for the colour in their collections in some shape or form. However, the biggest display of gold came courtesy of the Dolce and Gabbana boys during Milan Fashion Week – not only were there gold infusions filtered through the whole collection, but the all-gold finale displayed above was a big hint that gold was a key trend of the season. No one can accuse Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana of doing things by halves – if they want to showcase a trend, you’re definitely going to know about it! The catwalk isn’t the only place that has displayed a keen love of gold though – gadget geeks may recall that the Apple iPhone 5S which was debuted to the world last month now comes in gold for the first time ever– and it’s proving quite a popular colour choice! Quite a bold statement when you consider that the Apple iPhone 5C (marketed as being “for the colourful”) is also being released… Queuing up at the Apple Store isn’t the only way you can get your hands on a gold handset though; we know that the iPhone isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, so if you want to get in on the very popular […]
