The Golden Globes 2014: The best dressed!

Golden Globes time! Yep, it was the 71st annual Golden Globe Award ceremony in Beverly Hills yesterday, and the red carpet was once again full of the biggest and best-dressed names in Hollywood. TV and films stars alike came together for one of the biggest nights on the awards season calendar, and to say they pulled out all the sartorial stops would be a bit of an understatement, as we don’t think our list of best-dressed celebs has ever been this big! Lupita Nyong’o definitely stole the show for us with her effortlessly elegant Ralph Lauren caped look (we got flashbacks to Gwyneth Paltrow’s Tom Ford cape dress at the Oscars a few years ago) while Olivia Wilde and Camila Alves also made our jaws drop with their glittering gowns courtesy of Gucci Première and Dolce and Gabbana respectively. Unsurprisingly, Sofia Vergara went for the wow factor in a large Zac Posen dress, while Jennifer Lawrence went for a Dior dress, as was expected. Take a look at the full list of our best-dressed ladies below and let us know who took your breath away! Lupita Nyong’o in Ralph Lauren Olivia Wilde in Gucci Première Cate Blanchett in Armani Privé Sofia Vergara in Zac Posen Taylor Swift in Carolina Herrera Camila Alves in Dolce and Gabbana Kate Beckinsale in Zuhair Murad Couture Sandra Bullock in Prabal Gurung Margot Robbie in Gucci Emma Watson in Dior Couture Mila Kunis in Gucci Première Amy Adams in Valentino Couture Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Uma Thurman in Atelier Versace Kerry Washington in Balenciaga Reese Witherspoon in Calvin Klein Emma Roberts in Lanvin Naomi Watts in Tom Ford Zooey Deschanel in Oscar de la Renta Allison Williams in Alexander McQueen

House of Fraser have a perfect range of products that will help give an amazing complexion. The Illuminating Base and Highlighter Face Pen by Chanel, will allow you to get beautiful glowing skin. Using the Bobbi Brown Brow Kit will help to boost those brows and complete the fresh-faced, wide-eyed look. Neon-orange lips All the Rag and Bone SS14 models, seen here in Elle, were embracing colour pop in the form of neon-orange lips. Paired with neutral shades or a complementary turquoise, the look seemed surprisingly wearable. To experiment and find the perfect shade for you, try this MAC Pro Lip Palette, which features six gorgeous orange colours. A matte finish is a must, so make sure you blot your lipstick with a tissue and add a light coat of translucent powder before heading out. Unusual eye colour This season’s Prada catwalk saw models wearing winged eyeshadow in unusual shades. Violets, yellows and moss greens were applied; with darker shades creating wings and accentuating the shadow of the inner eye. Eyelids everywhere made a statement, with glitter, strong block navy and inky eyeliner also featuring prominently at fashion shows. Models, like those from Calvin […]

The People’s Choice Awards 2014: The best dressed!

And so it begins! The People’s Choice Awards officially marks the beginning of our favourite time of the year – awards season! It’s when you start to notice who will be dominating the red carpet over the coming weeks, not to mention who will be scooping up the shiny accolades. Yep, the People’s Choice Awards is the perfect ceremony to kick off the proceedings, and as a whole, we were quite impressed with what we saw on the all-important arrivals red carpet. Sandra Bullock, the lady we will be keeping our eye on throughout awards season, didn’t let us down as she gave us a bright, bold, print-tastic look thanks to her Peter Pilotto dress. Anna Faris went in the totally opposite direction, and went for chic, subtle and understated in a beaded Naeem Khan top and trouser combo hot off the spring/summer 2014 runway. Britney Spears also went for the nude theme (nude illusion, not Miley Cyrus naked) in a gorgeous Mikael D dress, while Jennifer Hudson also championed the minimal trend in a sleek white Kaufmanfranco dress. Take a look at our highlights from the People’s Choice Awards 2014 red carpet below and let us know who gets your best dressed vote. Jennifer Hudson in Kaufmanfranco Ana Faris in Naeem Khan Sandra Bullock in Peter Pilotto Naya Rivera in Michael Kors Nina Dobrev in Jenny Packham Allison Williams in David Koma Britney Spears in Mikael D Sarah Michelle Gellar in Sachin and Babi Jessica Alba in Jason Wu Kat Dennings in David Meister Beth Behrs in Giulietta Emily Deschanel in Max Azria

Cameron Russell lands Elle UK’s February cover

The current Elle US issue featuring Mindy Kaling and a host of our other favourite women in TV (that’s Zooey Deschanel, Amy Poehler and Allison Williams, fyi) may have come under fire for various reasons, but we don’t think anyone is going to have any problems with the mag across the pond. Gorgeous model Cameron Russell has found herself on the Elle UK February issue – striking a pose in powder blue Dior, no less – and not only has she enticed us with her stunning cover image, but the opinionated feminist also gives us a gripping interview at the same time too. Brains as well as beauty – what’s not to love about her? Cameron was shot by Kai Z Feng and is rocking some seriously fierce and fabulous pieces in the accompanying editorial, including the tribal trend that we fell in  love with all over again last year. The mag is out right now, so make sure you get your copy before it’s too late!

Are we overreacting to Mindy Kaling’s Elle US cover?

As the new crop of magazine cover stars emerge for February, controversy isn’t too far off. In the firing line this week for cropping the hell out of one of its February cover stars, Mindy Kaling, is ELLE US. The Mindy Project star features on one of the four special edition covers celebrating women in TV, alongside New Girls’ Zooey Deschanel, Alison Williams from Girls and Amy Poehler from Parks and Recreation – all of whom are fully featured on their respective covers. Being Kaling’s first major mag-fronting gig, critics were quick to slam the publication for typifying the requirements of an industry bound by a silent, immoral code of skinniness, colour, and a whole load of size zero. But, before jumping on the bandwagon to berate an otherwise respectable and widely read publication, we did a little digging to see where cover stars had been given the crop treatment – regardless of colour, size or celebrity status. And, the results were pretty surprising. Yes, ELLE US repeated the mistake with its October 2010 cover star, Gabourey Sidibe, whose skin was supposedly lightened, and image heavily cropped. And, not forgetting the magazine’s star Adele, who (partially) appeared on the May 2013 issue. But then again, ELLE UK also featured a cropped image of white, size zero, Victoria’s Secret model Candice Swanepoel on its December 2013 cover, quickly followed by a shoulders-up appearance from British model and actress, Suki Waterhouse for January 2014. Both ladies’ assets are in line with what the industry deems image perfect. Now, let’s turn to another glossy; Vogue. Although most editions of the magazine have courted controversy in the past, the cover star cuts are still interesting. Only Jennifer Lawrence’s face – the It girl of, basically, everything – graced the September 2013 issue Vogue US, whilst Beyoncé […]

Keira Knightley talks privacy, feminism and marriage in Harper’s Bazaar UK February

February is a month synonymous with love thanks to Valentine’s Day, and we think Harper’s Bazaar UK definitely captured this by appointing English rose Keira Knightley as its cover star. Doesn’t she look incredible? Keira may be on the Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit promotional trail (it hits cinemas on January 31st, fyi) but she opened up about a number of different subjects during her accompanying interview, including privacy, Twitter, married life and feminism among other things. “I think it’s great that the discussions are finally being allowed to be had about feminism, as opposed to anybody mentioning feminism and everybody going, ‘Oh, f***ing shut up’,” she said. “Somehow feminism became a dirty word. I thought it was really for a long time, and I think it’s great that we’re coming out of that.” She isn’t the only actress with strong views on feminism; remember Zooey Deschanel’s widely publicised thoughts on the matter? We digress; you can read the rest of Keira’s interview and see more stunning Alexi Lubomirski lensed pics in the February issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK.

Cara Delevingne was the most Googled fashion name of 2013

After winning Model of the Year at last year’s British Fashion Awards, we predicted that Cara Delevingne’s fame and fortune would go through the roof. We definitely weren’t wrong, because the British model has only gone and secured the top spot in Google’s annual Zeitgeist list for fashion folk. Congrats, Cara! With all the things that have been going on for her this year, from ad campaigns to fashion week shows to new acting roles to rumoured relationships with One Direction’s Harry Styles, we’re definitely not surprised to see Cara Delevingne secure the top spot! So Cara is officially the UK’s most searched for fashion figure on Google (Victoria Beckham topped the Bing list, fyi), and has beat the likes of Naomi Campbell and Jourdan Dunn (who came a respective second and third) with former CEO of Burberry Angela Ahrendts securing the fourth spot. We reckon a lot of that traffic must have come when she sensationally stepped down from her CEO position to take up a job at Apple! And it isn’t just fashion folk that Google has been monitoring all year; Coach was the most searched for fashion brand, with Hermes and Chanel closely following. Who have you been Googling this year?

Joan Smalls gets her Elle US January cover, wears Givenchy

We can’t blink without hearing about the on and off catwalk antics of Cara Delevingne and her model pals, so it’s safe to say that models are making a huge comeback. In fact they might just be bigger and more important than ever – and Elle US’s January issue is all about reiterating that point. Joan Smalls, one of our favourite young models of the moment, has finally landed her first Elle cover, and is looking fierce in a sequin Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci dress. Only a professional poser can pull off a look like that! Inside the mag, as well as posing in some more lust-worthy pieces from the likes of Chanel to Gucci, she  opens up about the lack of diversity. “People hide behind the word aesthetic,” she began. “They say, ‘Well, it’s just that designer’s aesthetic.’ But when you see 18 seasons in a row and not one single model outside a certain skin colour…? “There are people in the industry who are advocates, who support diversity. And there are people who do not. I don’t get it. Beauty is universal. These doors have to open.” Anyone else think she should team up with Naomi Campbell and sort the diversity issue in the modelling world out once and for all? You can read the rest of the interview in Elle US’s January issue.

Stay warm with our five favourite winter picks

Brr! You hear that? That’s the sound of your teeth  chattering! Or at least, it would be if you went out into the cold without wrapping up warm. If you can’t quite locate your emergency winter weather gear, or if the mothballs didn’t do the trick and your clothes have holes in them, or if you just fancy some new winter threads, then this post is for you. Whether you want something to help you keep out the chill if you’re heading out or just something to make you look and feel a little bit more glam underneath all the bulky layers, then keep on reading. We’ve rounded up five of our favourite winter items from purecollection.com – your first port of call for Pure Collection jumpers; we don’t like to toot our own horn but we think we’ve done quite well. 1. Yes a new handbag is definitely classed as a winter essential, thank you very much. Your bags that come in bright summer shades just aren’t going to look right with your newly acquired winter gear are they? Exactly – we  rest our very convincing case! 2. Ensure you never leave the house without a warm, snuggly winter scarf. The white one we have selected is one of the cosiest yet most versatile scarves we have seen. Perfect for layering up with when you step outside, but also light enough  to wear bunched over a plain winter jumper. A must have if you’re saving on electricity bills and don’t want to crank up the central heating. 3. We don’t need to convince you to invest in a warm pair of gloves; just step outside your front door for ten seconds and your fingers will bring the message home! 4. We all know that you begin losing heat from […]

New Look compares stats from all four Fashion Month cities – which one came out on top?

Did you know that New York Fashion Week was the most talked about of all four cities on those good old social networking sites this September? Oh yes, and Victoria Beckham – along with Alexander Wang and DKNY – were the top designer Twitter trends. Does that surprise you? We can never have enough VB, but we thought that as it spanned the most days and boasted and some of the biggest fashion Houses from Dior to Chanel presenting their collections, Paris Fashion Week would have walked away with that title. What do you guys think? You can check out loads of fun facts and statistics about Fashion Month in the infographic compiled by New Look above, which also contains info about celebrity appearances in all four cities, how much visitors spent, and most importantly of all, what the themes and trend highlights were. Despite all the stats though, New Look’s favourite city is our wonderful capital – London – which is why we were quite biasedly more than happy to share this information with you. Do you agree with New Look – is London the most stylish of all four cities?

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen talk “anonymity” in The Edit

“Modern Classics”, it says on the latest cover of Net a Porter’s The Edit mag. And we think that’s the perfect phrase to describe cover stars Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. We couldn’t think of a better phrase for the young designers and businesswomen. The Olsen twins keep it strictly professional, mainly posing for Miguel Riveriego’s camera in pieces from their The Row clothing line and talking all things fashion in the accompanying interview. “Anonymity is a word we talk about all the time — in life and in clothes,” Ashley said. “We saw a space in the market. We knew there wasn’t another brand offering basics in a luxurious and contemporary way. “If I wear certain designer brands, or too much of something, I look crazy, and I need something to break it up. If you are wearing a Chanel jacket and you need an anonymous piece that will show just how special that jacket is, I hope that is what The Row gives you.” That’s definitely something The Row has mastered over the years, but at the same time, we don’t think people would mind being dressed head-to-toe in The Row either. Click here to check out the rest of the interview and see more pics from the shoot.

Cheap fashion finds: Embarrassing or exciting? (Well, the Duchess of Cambridge approves!)

If you’re frowning at the title of this post, frankly, we don’t blame you. Who doesn’t love starting a dinner table conversation about their latest Gucci snaffle at the nearest designer outlet? Discount codes, flash sale sites and sample sales; we love scouring them, finding a bargain, and making a swift getaway with a bagful of cut-price (well, kind of) Fendi. And, as much as we do love a deal-sealing designer find with its price tag generously slashed, mid-weight high street brands equally excite our inner hoarder shopper. So, when the Mail Online reported that the Duchess of Cambridge was partial to a ‘fuss-free’ shopping spree at BicesterVillage (pictured above in the M Missoni coat she picked up at the outlet), we derived a sense of comfort from the royal seal of approval; that designer duds don’t have to come with stratospheric price tags. Even K Middy, with her lifetime supply of red carpet gowns and about as many Jenny Packham looks one can get through, loves a bargain-filled day, where she can thoughtfully part with her cash, rather than frittering it away in a manner often associated with high society. But, Kate’s shopping preferences also got us thinking about the exclusivity attached to designer shopping: as nonsensical as it sounds, do cut-price finds make designer gear a little embarrassingly status redundant? Does pitching yourself as a frugal fashion body almost tarnish your reputation as shopper? Certainly not for the Duchess. The thrill attached to sharing our latest fashion purchases, designer or high street, as many serial shoppers will know, is unmatched. And with the prominence of haul sharing tools a.k.a YouTube and Instagram, the pressure is often on to be the first to un-box a new pair of Valentino Rockstuds, or show off your latest Chanel Boy – pictured […]

Inspirational vs. Inane: Is the lure of the luxury good worth dreaming about?

If recent research is anything to go by, then the luxury goods industry is booming. Booming beyond cultural and financial borders; letting the emerging economies ride the Prada-lined wave of upscale consumerism, and shaking up the belief that the recession has been a turn off for spend-aholics. From Chopard to Chanel Couture and Piaget to Burberry; luxury expenditure hasn’t slowed down, and we’ve got China to thank for that, amongst newer markets such as Malaysia and India. But does the hike in highly priced goods being snapped up justify the production of what we here at MFL HQ like to call The Super Shopper’s Set? Point in case: this week’s super-spend wish list add-ons: Ray Ban’s £2,893 Aviator sunglasses (below) and, wait for it, the £70,000 platinum stilettos by House of Borgezie (pictured above). Items many of us don’t flinch at the idea of dropping a hot £100+ bomb on, and ones that are often our most prized possessions. If you’re not already gawking at these price tags in utter disbelief, we’ll describe the items in a little more detail. Said sunnies aren’t your average hide behinds, but, in fact, rimmed with an £18ct yellow gold frame. Not only that, but, only 1,200 have been put into production, further upping the exclusivity factor. Heels are the holy grail of a woman’s daily get-up (don’t deny it, you loafer-shod liars), and justifying a Jimmy Choo splurge is, often, a necessity. But what if you suddenly wanted a shoedrobe to rival Tamara Ecclestone’s? You’d be spoilt for choice trotting around in the custom-made Cleopatra stilettos, which can be crafted in platinum or 18ct white or yellow gold. We wouldn’t really blame you if the price tag processing part of your brain, as well your overstretched, extremely worried bank account may need to […]

“I think it is better to be stylish than trendy” – Miley Cyrus, Fashion, November 2013

It doesn’t look like we can go a single day without something new from Miley Cyrus popping up; earlier this week we gushed over her Harper’s Bazaar magazine cover, yesterday we dissected her brand new music video in great detail, and today it’s all about her appearance on Fashion‘s November issue. Yes November issues are already been released -where has the time gone, eh? Miley was photographed by Chris Nicholls, and is rocking a Kufmanfranco dress for the striking, attention-grabbing front cover. Inside the mag, as well as posing for some gorgeous pictures (not a single poked-out tongue, foam finger or wrecking ball in sight) Miley opens up about that MTV VMA performance, her relationship with Liam Hemsworth, and her taste in fashion… “I can go through so many clothes say ‘no, that’s not me’ right away. I’m so adamant and controlling and OCD about my work that I can scare some people—especially when it comes to clothes,” she said. “I have a very specific style of my own and I think it is better to be stylish than trendy. I find vintage Celine or Chanel and mix it with athletic or vintage pieces makes a look modern and fresh. Vintage makes everything look punk.” And what about her Gwen-Stefani-esque outfit she wore while arriving at this year’s MTV VMAs?  “I found what I wore on the red carpet to the VMAs with Pharrell. It was a Dolce and Gabbana piece from 1992—the year I was born. He saw it and said, ‘you have to buy it.’ I think that outfit added a factor that the other girls couldn’t compete with. “Pharrell says it’s not about what you’re wearing; it’s the way you wear it. That was a lesson I took to heart. I think it is important that I […]

Alexa Chung talks It girl status in October’s Nylon

Alexa Chung is on fire this month. As well as launching her brand new book It, covering British Vogue’s latest issue and finding herself on the front row of the hottest designers this Fashion Week, you can also see her fronting the October issue of Nylon. Doesn’t she look great rocking her signature androgynous look? The 29-year-old is posing in some gorgeous designer threads from Louis Vuitton to Chanel to all else in-between in the editorial, as she also opens up about her ‘It’ girl status and her portrayal as a fashion maven… “I could never be that earnest about giving fashion advice because I don’t want people to think that I think I’m that great,” she said, before telling the mag what she thought about being referred to as an “it” girl. “It’s a funny title,” she continued. “The older I get, the more I’m like, ‘Oh it’s not that bad.’ But when ‘It’ was first stuck on me, I was like, ‘No, I’m not!’ I felt like that label was reserved for girls who were famous for being famous. “Is Kate Moss still an It Girl? Charlotte Rampling? Jane Birkin? I wouldn’t rank myself alongside those women, but if the It Girls of yesteryear are still ‘It,’ I don’t think any of them lost what they made them unique.” They definitely haven’t, and we don’t think Alexa will either. We can’t wait to get our hands on this issue; well played Nylon!

6 things we learnt from Miley Cyrus’s latest (twerk-free) music video

OK, we had to. Had to what? We had to dissect the latest in-yer-face offering from the House of Cyrus and all things non-Disney: 23 Alluding to Michael Jordan’s jersey number for the Chicago Bulls, 23 is indeed the name of Mike Will Made It’s latest song, featuring Miley– one that racked up over 3million YouTube hits within three hours of Team MFL hitting play (see the video below), and left us wondering how much of that number jumping was thanks to MC. After a sombre, twerk-free, sledgehammer licking affair in Wrecking Ball, 23 highlights Miley’s welcoming into the world of leather pant-clad, molten-mouthed, suspicious roll up smoking rappers (she even opens the song with ‘I’m in the club, high off purp’ – referring to a  recreational drug), and she succeeds in shocking and amusing in equal measure. But as were pretty accustomed to the near nude twerking antics (of which there weren’t many in this video), it was more her fashion choices we were looking at this time round, and here’s what we deduced: 1. Miley isn’t immune to the ortho sandal. She loves a pair of blingin’ Birkenstocks – embellished, fur-lined, Céline ones worn with soccer socks, in fact. 2. We want that patent pinafore dress. Worn with sneakers, or ‘J’s’ if you prefer Miley-speak, it’s the ultimate rebel’s LBD. 3. The deflated derriere is making a comeback. Brid-Jones-meets-basketball-uniform underwear is du jour, and we all know it’s not forgiving on the bum, or going to deliver a miracle buttock lift! Miley makes unflattering underwear look easy in 23, and justifies giving that killer session of squats a miss! 4. More is more when it comes to Chanel. Our need to wear Chanel accessories, in opposing proportions, all at once, has gone into overdrive since watching the video. […]

Escaping to Italy? Here’s what to wear and what to avoid!

As the weather turns wet and miserable here in the UK, many of us are beginning to feel the longing to travel and get away from grey skies to a more inspiring landscape but that eternal question persists – what to wear? If you’re a fashion lover; Italy is a great choice for this time of year. In winter it is one of the most beautiful sights in the world, the cultural architecture standing out against white snow, cultural events and performances in historic theatres, and iconic tourist attractions without the usual big crowds. It’s also easy to get to from the UK, with airlines such as Monarch offering reasonably priced flights to Rome. It’s also one of the leading countries in the world in fashion design; home to infamous labels such as Gucci, Armani, Valentino, Prada, and Dolce & Gabbana to name a few. So why not treat yourself too? Rome and Milan are fashion heaven and offer the perfect excuse to look as fashionable as the locals. Staple wardrobe to ensure you fit in? A pair of dark blue skinny jeans paired with a classic white t-shirt and a great fitting blazer. Oh and we’d recommend keeping yourself with warm with leg warmers or leggings especially if you’ll be doing a lot of sight seeing. Head to the churches in Rome for some culture, especially the idyllic St Peter’s Basilica, but don’t forget important clothing requirements. As a mark of respect its important to cover shoulders, cleavage and knees. Opt for a fitted coat (we love tweed jackets…a fave of Coco Chanel and us here at MFL too). Last but not least – footwear. We understand the temptation might be to wear a gorgeous pair of heels, and while there’s no denying the glamour of strolling through Italy […]

The 2013 Emmy Awards: The best dressed!

Your football-watching boyfriend may tell you otherwise, but the 2013 Emmy Awards were the biggest and most important event of the weekend, as the stars of our favourite television shows flocked to the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California last night. The red carpet was bursting with well-dressed actors and actresses from both sides of the pond, and although Girls star Allison Williams pretty much stole the show for us in her royal blue Ralph Lauren dress, there was a definite pale and interesting sartorial theme recurring. Zooey Deschanel, Claire Danes, January Jones, Kerry Washington and Rose Byrne were some of the ladies who went down the pastel pretty and pale look, while others like Sofia Vergara, Kaley Cuoco, Carrie Underwood and Alyson Hannigan went for big, bold, bright, and beautiful. Here are a few of our red carpet highlights – let us know who gets your best-dressed vote in the comments and on Twitter! Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang Kerry Washington in Marchesa Claire Danes in Armani Prive  Kaley Cuoco in Vera Wang January Jones in Givenchy  Carrie Underwood in Romona Keveza Zooey Deschanel in J Mendel Linda Cardellini in Donna Karan Atelier Allison Williams in Ralph Lauren Christina Hendricks in Christian Siriano Rose Byrne in Calvin Klein Collection Heidi Klum in Atelier Versace Sarah Hyland in Carolina Herrera Mindy Kaling in Edition by Georges Chakra Michelle Dockery in Prada  Alyson Hannigan in Marchesa

Miley Cyrus is Worst Dressed of the Week

She may have graced the cover for the October issue of Harper’s Bazaar in a gorgeously understated Burberry Prorsum number, but that’s not getting Miley Cyrus off the hook as Worst Dressed of the Week! When she wasn’t looking all demure and crimson-lipped on a glossy cover, the twerking enthusiast was actually playing dress up as a fashion casualty! Miley recently took to the streets of London in a rather peculiar looking Jean Paul Gaultier hybrid trouser, which made for some interesting viewing. Part sheer legging, part wide leg trouser, she continued the horrifying all-black outfit party with a matching bra top (a regular occurrence in Miley’s uber-eccentric (read: barely visible) wardrobe), face-swallowing sunglasses and lashings of gold jewellery. Looking like the lovechild of a Goth and a gangster (no, really), Miley finished off her ‘special’ look with a rather ostentatious, dare we say it, Chanel handbag. Not one to take the subtle approach, the ultra-chunky gold medallion belt pretty much stretched our sartorial tolerance level to the limit! We’re all for Miley’s wacky wardrobe of late, but please quit the visual trickery and either don trousers OR leggings, not both. A pair of skinny black jeans or wide-leg black trousers could’ve turned this look around, with a slash of sexy midriff sans all that stomach-turning bling, to top it off nicely. Whaddaya say? Rosie Huntington Whiteley rocks Miu Miu for Elle UK October

Believe it or not, that peroxide blonde bombshell on the front cover of Elle UK’s October issue is none other than Rosie Huntington Whiteley! No, seriously! Looks incredible, doesn’t she? The model and actress was shot by Mariano Vivanco in a series of stunning high fashion pieces from the likes of Calvin Klein Collection to Chanel to the sleek and sexy black Miu Miu piece she is rocking on the cover. Her interview isn’t to missed either, as she talks openly to the mag about a selection of interesting topics, including the perception of models… “I can see why people think models come across as a little cold,” she explained. “When you start out you’re so young you don’t have a voice. Everyone just tells you what to do and you can end up abroad in the middle of nowhere, with no one speaking English. It is very lonely. “You develop a thick skin to protect yourself. Now I am 26, when I come on a set, I can say what I think and my opinions are noted. I’ve grafted hard to be here.” No arguments there! You can read the rest of Rosie’s interview with the mag’s editor-in-chief Lorraine Candy in Elle UK’s October issue, out this Wednesday! [Elle UK]

Diane Kruger, we love your style!

There aren’t enough hours in the day to rave about Diane Kruger’s style. The woman just never gets it wrong! So great is our love of Diane Kruger’s style that we couldn’t possibly narrow down our five all-time favourite looks without chaos in the office, so we thought it would be an easier feat to narrow it down and focus on her sartorial triumphs of this year. Easier said than done due to aforementioned flawlessness, but this is what we came up with: 1. – Diane is looking just like the Greek goddess she portrayed when we first started falling in love with her in back in Troy, which probably explains why we are obsessed with her in this Marchesa dress. The face that launched a thousand ships for sure! 2. – We wondered how Diane would incorporate the punk theme of this year’s Met Gala into her outfit, and we were pleasantly surprised with the results when he turned up in this Chanel dress complete with semi-pink hair! Goth + glam = gorgeous! 3. – When you have legs like Diane Kruger, you know you’re doing yourself and the rest of the world a favour by getting them out. The Oscars may have been about the recipients of those golden accolades, but a Giambattista Valli clad Diane owned the Vanity Fair Oscars party ! 4. – The sidewalk is indeed Diane’s catwalk… she doesn’t let a little thing like not being on a red carpet stop her from bringing out the sartorial big guns. We love her off duty Marni street style! 5. – It isn’t just Diane’s perfect pins we are envious of – her toned tummy unleashes our inner green eyed monster too! This Prabal Gurung look is also proof that you don’t need a dress to […]

Gisele is Forbes highest paid supermodel for 7th year running

No prizes for guessing who the highest paid supermodel in the world is… Gisele Bundchen has once again found herself at the top of the Forbes list of highest earning supermodels for an impressive seventh consecutive year. She definitely puts the super in supermodel! Thanks to her deals with the likes of H&M, David Yurman, Chanel, Pantene and her own lingerie line, she has pocketed an impressive £27 million which means runner-up Miranda Kerr – who is worth an estimated £4.6 million – has a long way to go if she’s going to catch up with her. So who else made the Top 10 list, you ask? Adriana Lima came a very respectable third, while our very own Kate Moss, Liu Wen and Hilary Rhoda landed the respective 4th, 5th and 6th spots. The last four places went to Carolyn Murphy, Joan Smalls, Candice Swanepoel and Lara Stone. Alessandra Ambrosio and Doutzen Kroes slipped off the list this year, but Forbes predicts that they will be back with a vengeance next year; and apparently we shouldn’t be surprised if they are joined by Karlie Kloss and Kate Upton too. 5 of our favourite autumn/winter trends

Now that spring/summer shopping has well and truly entered the sale phase, and you’ve probably spent a day crying over those full priced Wang heels you nabbed the minute they hit Net-a-Porter, only to see them go into the sale a few weeks later – and in your size, too – it’s time to move on. Well, there’s only one way to get over the pain of parting with your cash like that, and in fashion speak, that translates as autumn/winter. Remember when we picked out the top 10 autumn/winter trends you could wear fresh off the runway, without actually having to wait for the season to hit the fashion scene? Now that new season wares have started to land in stores, we’ve decide to whittle our previous top 10 down to our five favourite fall 2013 trends to covet come September. Oversized coats The strong, masculine silhouette doesn’t seem to date, with a stronger presence every season, making us want to ditch our belted trenches. From boxy to sleeveless and oversized, the new season coat is a shapely affair, with softly gliding contours in a palette ranging from ashy grey to pillar-box red. Pink Sugar spun shades of candy floss pink are back in all tones; from dusky pink skirt suits at Jonathan Saunders to bubblegum pink vinyl finishes at Roksanda Ilincic, the rosy hue is the colour of choice to lighten up fall’s dark mood. Take the frothiness associated with wearing pink off by accenting with black separates. Fur The staple fabric for colder months (the faux variety, of course!), fur dominated the new season runways; but we’re not talking in it traditional guise. Think multi-layered, three-colour looks; acid green and electric blue stoles and eye-popping patterned furs. J Mendel and Vionnet went as far as incorporating the […]

Miley Cyrus covers up in chic Stella McCartney at London’s Heathrow Airport

We bet Miley Cyrus didn’t bank on the weather being so Los Angeles-like when she packed her suitcase, as we have a feeling she would have stuck to her classic hardly-there-shorts and barely-bosom-covering cropped tops. We are quite glad she didn’t realise how hot the weather in our Capital would be though, as we fear we ay have missed out on seeing her rock this gorgeous Stella McCartney jumpsuit. The former Hannah Montana star accessorised her high-end look with Chanel trainers, a Chanel backpack and Celine sunnies. She was seen at Heathrow Airport with the current issue of fashion Bible British Vogue firmly in her grasp – and this look is definitive proof that she has been brushing up on her fashion knowledge. Miley will probably go back to her dressing-for-the-beach ways as soon as she touches down on American soil, but its always nice to see her do the chic, covered up thing too. Do you like Miley’s grown-up Stella McCartney look? [Image]

Pippa Middleton is wedding-guest-perfect in Matthew Williamson

Kate Middleton and her little sis are no strangers to witnessing their friends and family tie the knot, as they have attended a pretty impressive number of weddings between them over the years. Therefore they both have the fine art of wedding guest dressing down to a tee – and Pippa Middleton attending the wedding of Chanel ambassador Caroline Sieber is another prime example of wedding guest sartorial perfection. Pippa took advantage of the hot weather and wore a gorgeous summery coral dress by Matthew Williamson for the occasion, which she teamed with a lighter hued jacket that also came from the British designer’s collection. She completed her look with a nude fascinator, and a pair of nude heels that her sis and yummy-mummy-to-be would no doubt have approved of. Nice one, Pips! [Image]

Fashion Charts: What’s going up and what’s coming down this month

Up The bomber jacket: The hit summer cover-up, we’re digging the bomber jacket for its endless styling opportunities. Continuing fashion’s love affair with the sport luxe trend, we’re wearing ours with skinny jeans and a luxe tee by day, and statement earring and a sexy pencil skirt by night. Knuckle-nail rings: From Balenciaga’s lusted-after gold versions to pocket-pleasing high-street alternatives on the high street, knuckle rings have evolved into the next best thing: knuckle-nail rings, as seen on the Chanel Fall Couture 2013 runway. Yeah, couture on your nails is a thing, according to Kaiser Karl. Expensive baby shoes: With a ‘female hustler’ and the ‘king of hip hop’ for parents, you’re expected to have a more than average upbringing. Her Majesty, Blue Ivy Carter, has her own pair of TOM FORD heels. Yes, TOM FORD. Downsized to tot proportions, and modelled by her bootylicious mum. In other news, the world’s first billionaire couple reportedly splashed out a whopping (modest by Jay-B standards) $7,500 on presents for Baby Kimye, including a pair of Christian Dior booties. Moss mania: Although she’s been everywhere since being discovered at the tender age of 14, Kate Moss continues to rule everything, everywhere. From taking over the Stuart Weitzman and Versace AW13 campaigns to teaming up with Carphone Warehouse on a new fashion-tech accessories line and going under the hammer (sort of) at Christie’s. Budget Alaia’s (well, kind of): We’ve been drooling over the real deal, and promptly heading to Zara to snap up the pocket-friendly version! We’re in love with complex, lace up sandals that look like a lot of hard work to slip into, but once you’ve got them on, there’s no coming off. Down Over-the-top underdressing: Oh, Rihanna. Bad, bad Rihanna. Rocking up to Chanel Couture (!) in nothing more than a […]

Diane Kruger covers Marie Claire UK’s August issue

Looking slightly reminiscent of Kate Moss on one of her many Vogue covers, Marie Claire UK’s August cover star is none other than the gorgeous Diane Kruger. You know you’re onto a winner as far as pics, the interview and magazine sales are concerned when you have Diane Kruger on board. As usual, the extremely photogenic actress is looking stunning in each and every pic, and her interview is as insightful as it is candid. Diane spoke to the mag about boyfriend Joshua Jackson, as well as film, fame, and fashion. And of course Diane, who is practically BFFs with Karl Lagerfeld and is omnipresent on a Chanel FROW, also divulged about her relationship with the iconic French fashion House… “I started modelling for them when I was 15,” she said. “I know everyone there on a first-name basis. They were the first ones to send me clothes when I started out as an actress. And loyalty is so rare in our business that it make sense to be supportive. It’s not always about money. “You can be as cynical as you want about filmmaking or fashion but at the end of the day fashion makes people dream, it makes women look beautiful, and it can be a wonderful creative outlet.” She speaks the truth, does our Diane. And doesn’t she look incredible in her pics? Marie Claire UK’s August issue is out from today, so go down to your nearest newsagent right now, or just head to the website to find out how you can download the digital edition for your iPad or other tablet.

Jennifer Lawrence lands the coveted American Vogue September issue cover!

Yee-hah – MFL and Christian Dior fave Jennifer Lawrence has only gone and landed the coveted September issue cover of American Vogue! 2013 is definitely Jen’s year; first a ‘Best Actress’ Oscar for her role in Silver Linings Playbook and now the Vogue September cover. Surely it doesn’t get better than this, does it? Ms Lawrence was photographed by Mario Testino, and we’re willing to bet good money that she will be rocking some Christian Dior threads on either the cover or the accompanying editorial. Emma Watson is fresh-faced and fab for her fourth Teen Vogue cover

Teen Vogue can’t seem to get enough of Emma Watson, as her August 2013 cover is the fourth time she has posed for the magazine. We think we see the appeal! Emma was shot by Boo George, and is looking fresh faced and fabulous on the cover and throughout the editorial. The 23-year-old Bling Ring actress (and former Harry Potter actress, but that goes without saying, right?) is wearing an enviable selection of clothes in her shoot, including Isabel Marant houndstooth skinny jeans, a Saint Laurent coat, and a bold 3.1 Phillip Lim top. Well that’s the wardrobe that was selected for her, but what about her personal style choices? Where does she like to shop herself? “I shop at Aritzia and Topshop, and I also love A.P.C. and 3.1 Phillip Lim,” she told the mag. “Chanel is amazing, and I wore a really beautiful black Dior dress recently that I thought was really cool. And I love Christopher Kane, Peter Pilotto…I’m always keeping an eye out for people who are new or up-and-coming.” We definitely don’t have the funds to fill our wardrobe with Chanel, but it’s nice to know she loves the British High Street too! Emma’s Teen Vogue issue is out July 2nd. Get it before it’s gone! [Fashion Gone Rogue]

4 Summer 2013 Trends for Long Hair

This season everyone is going wild for messy beach head hair and super straight locks. Long tresses that can be styled chicly are the must-have accessory and some of the hottest trends are so easy to replicate, there is no excuse not to be on board the fashion wagon. Even if you don’t have long hair you can still copy some of these looks by using hair extensions and clip in hair pieces. So without further ado, here are the top 4 hair trends that will transform you from girl next door to catwalk queen. Sexy waves This summer it’s all about carefree curls. Channel the beach vibe and get super sexy bedhead waves using a waving tong or wand. Here is a video tutorial to help you get a natural, wavy look and if you already have luscious curls, you’re one step ahead! Low ponytail/fishtail plait Who said that a ponytail is a little girl’s game? One of the hottest hairstyles is a low slung pony; it’s laid back, it’s simple and you can make it ultra glossy with some finishing serum. Everyone from Dior to Chloé has been featuring this trend but if you want to try something different, simply plait it into a fishtail for a unique style. Poker straight Super straight locks are back and better than ever. All the SS13 catwalks featured poker straight hair including Derek Lam and Lacoste (as pictured above) but make sure you use a good heat defence spray. The key to a super straight look is to have the right tools consisting of a ceramic ion brush, a mixed bristle oval cushion brush to protect the scalp and most importantly, some professional titanium straightening irons. The $68,000 dress: Saint Laurent’s golden shot, or just plain ridiculous?

OK, so we’ve discussed the $35,000 backpack and gawked at the £160,000 nail varnish, but when a certain designer with a habit of irking many in the industry gets in on the action, you begin to question the ‘normality’ of your lifestyle against the lifestyle of those for whom these extortionate products are created. Well, what we’re trying to say is: who needs a $68,000 dress? It’s not an intricate wedding gown, nor is it a couture piece, so why the horrifying price tag? Said dress is an embellished baby doll dress from the Saint Laurent Fall 2013 collection, and modelled by face-of-the-moment, Cara Delevinge in the accompanying campaign. But we sniff an ulterior motive, one that’ll only help escalate Brand Slimane (not Saint Laurent) higher. After giving us a $61,000, predominantly polyester jacket (sacrilegious coming from a purveyor of luxury), we thought Slimane would calm down the flamboyant antics, and carry on quietly battling the voices in his head advising him who to ban from his spring/summer 2014 show. But instead, he upped the annoyance ante with a dress to match, and now we’re left wondering whether we’ll ever take the creative director seriously again. His fall 2013 show sparked heated debate in the industry, given his knack for earth-shattering change, but we feel his most recent ploy seems set to alienate people from the chic French fashion house. For many of us Yves Saint Laurent was the epitome of Parisian glamour, giving us iconic, uncompromising looks that have stuck. But it seems Slimane is bent on overhauling the smoky, decadent mystery we’ve always associated with the fashion house, and, along with the ostentatious dress, nothing proves this to more true than the opening of the new store in Soho, New York; a stripped back abode for a more […]

“The World According to Karl” book, coming soon

It’s no secret that we love a good Karlism, but we aren’t the only ones. Clearly the publishing world has cottoned on to how weird and wonderful everything that comes out of Karl Lagerfeld’s mouth is that he is getting his very own book dedicated to his famous, fabulous, unrivalled quotes. Featuring such gems as, “I am a kind of fashion nymphomaniac who never gets an orgasm,” “Fat mummies sit there in front of the television with their chip packets and say skinny models are ugly…no one wants to see curvy women” and “I’m a little shortsighted, and people, when they’re shortsighted, they remove their glasses and then they look like cute little dogs who want to be adopted,” The World According to Karl promises to offer you an insight into the world of Karl Lagerfeld through his eyes and sharp tongue. “In this attractive volume, Karl Lagerfeld imparts his personal impressions on everything. His aphorisms and quotable declarations are in turns humorous, acerbic, insightful, or misleadingly definitive. Defining the world as he sees it–through the lens of fashion, Chanel, love, life, black sunglasses, luxury, books, and Karl himself–this book pays homage to the brilliance of Lagerfeld’s mind, his turn of phrase, and his visionary verdicts on fashion, humanity, art, and the world in general.” Although he wasn’t actually involved in the making of the book, he reportedly approves of the finished product, so we guess the publishers can breathe a high sigh of relief. Click here to head to Amazon and pre-order your copy right now. We’re ordering quite a few; after all, it’s never too early to start Christmas shopping, right?

Lily Collins rocks Dior for Glamour US July, is over-Photoshopped

Glamour US is continuing to get Photoshop-happy on its cover stars, with Lily Collins receiving the over-airbrushing treatment for the magazine’s July issue. We think it’s a bit of a shame as Lily Collins is one of Hollywood’s brightest young stars, and one thing she definitely doesn’t need is a lot of help in post-production. Still, she’s looking absolutely gorgeous in the Ellen von Unwerth lensed pic, posing in a striking Christian Dior dress and rocking bold eyes and ruby red lips. Lily’s interview is pretty interesting too, as she tells the mag about not asking her father (Phil Collins) for help, her friend Jennifer Lawrence, and her “mentor” mother. “It has nothing to do with acting,” she said about her mother. “She guides me through my personal life, telling me to experiment. She lets me borrow her vintage. She has Chanel and eighties stuff from Yohji Yamamoto and Vivienne Westwood that she got when vintage wasn’t cool. “She’d wear them to events with my dad, and everyone would ask what she had on; when she said ‘vintage,’ they’d go, ‘Oh, that’s nice,’ and, you know, turn the corner.” We would never snub vintage! Head to the Glamour website to find more pics and snippets from Lily’s interview.

Suzy Menkes to auction off her wardrobe

Fashion fave Suzy Menkes has undoubtedly racked up a pretty impressive wardrobe over the years – and now she’s giving the public a chance to own some of her covetable threads by putting 80 lots under the hammer at a mammoth Christie’s auction in July. “I have never thrown anything out of my wardrobe since 1964,” she said in a statement. “If I had a large open space in my home, I would dedicate it, like an art gallery, to my collection. But there is something sad about clothes laid in a tomb of trunks. “They need to live again and this auction provides the opportunity for them to walk out in the sunshine, to dance the night away and to give someone else the joy that they gave to me.” Pieces from Emilio Pucci, Chanel, Hermès and Christian Lacroix definitely sound like joy to us. Among the pieces in the collection is a quilted Chanel bag, an Hermès silk scarf, vintage Ossie Clark dresses, and even an Yves Saint Laurent cocktail jacket from the 1980 ‘le soleil’ collection (pictured). The auction will take place on christies.com from July 11th until July 22nd, with each lot starting at £200. Tempted? [Reuters] [Image]

“I just fell in love with someone who happens to be amazing” – James Righton on Keira Knightley

Keira Knightley and her new hubby James Righton are a pretty cool, low-key couple; you never hear them talking smack about each other or even gushing about each other to the tabloids on a daily basis. Basically, they’re a private couple – and that was reflected in the intimate wedding ceremony they had a few weeks ago. However, Keira’s Klaxons keyboardist husband has spoken out about his new wife, and he couldn’t have been more complimentary. “I just fell in love with someone who happens to be amazing,” he told NME. “We had a beautiful wedding and there was a lot of love. His bandmate Jamie Reynolds also chimed in about the nuptials saying “it was the greatest day ever.” Aww; and look at them all loved-up on their honeymoon above! – definitely one of our favourite celeb couples! Say it in stripes! Channel your inner sailor with our top picks

Does the onset of summer bring out your inner sailor? Well, we’re not expecting you to take to the controls at the next boat party you attend, but letting your sartorial side dip into this fun trend is always refreshing. But how does one go about a sailor trend-on-trial, without resorting to embarrassing, Popeye-inspired androgynous ensembles? The answer is stripes; Coco Chanel’s famed fashion delivery, spring/summer 2013’s biggest trend story, and one of the easiest ways to unleash the sailor(ess) within, without donning a cheesy sailor hat and anything doused in anchor prints! Literal references are best kept for fancy dress parties, but if you want to add a touch of everyday sailor-style to your wardrobe then inspired separates are your best bet. Think more Audrey Hepburn-esque maritime maven, than sea sickeningly sailor. Want to take the fashion forward route? Slip into the best pair of striped jeans you can find. Or maybe your approach to trend testing is a little more subtle, in which case a simple Breton stripe top or stripe-printed heel may do the job. Shop our top striped picks below, and don’t forget to check out our style tip on the best way to make stripes work for you. Breton stripe top, £36, Jigsaw Lulu Guinness Verity striped shoulder bag, £265, Selfridges Acne Liz stripe-print trouser, £230, Matches Kimberley monochrome striped fabric tie wedge, £45, Stylistpick Mono stripe panel denim dress, £40, Topshop Stripe ponti skater skirt, £28, Miss Selfridge Marc Jacobs striped raffia espadrilles, £225, My Theresa Style tip: If you’re not too keen on a stripe-out, then opt for a neutral ensemble, punctuated with one statement striped item. Cannes Film Festival 2013: Day 2 highlights

Day 2 of the Cannes Film  Festival was pretty much just as glamorous as the first! Sonam Kapoor definitely went by the “go big or go home” mantra for the Jeune & Jolie premiere, as she stole the show in a larger than life Dolce and Gabbana dress. Her flawless, brunette, sleek and shiny side-swept locks complemented the dress perfectly, as did her gorgeous necklace and subtle make-up. Simply divine. Emma Watson is on fire, today. As well as looking like a vintage 1940s goddess on the cover of W magazine’s June issue, she also blew us away as she worked the red carpet in a jaw-droppingly stunning monochrome floor-length Chanel Couture dress. And we have a feeling you’re going to be seeing a lot of Freida Pinto on our best-dressed-at-Cannes pages over the next couple of weeks; the actress wowed the crowd in a hot pink Gucci number on Day 1, and she looked just as beautiful on the second day in a bedazzling Sanchita dress with a sexy thigh high split.

Emma Watson wows in Louis Vuitton for W June issue

Oh hello Emma Watson, you hottie! Emma is looking chic and sexy in a Louis Vuitton jacket for the front cover of W magazine’s June issue, as shot by Michael Thompson and styled by Edward Enniful. The gorgeous 23 year old looks like a grown-up vintage goddess in the shoot (we love the black Chanel dress and Marc Jacobs gloves she is wearing in the picture below), and opens up to the mag about her Hollywood crush, as well as growing up on screen, her love of America, and getting into her “bad girl” character for her latest film The Bling Ring. “Some of her lines are so crazy and absurd—making sure she wasn’t a parody was a challenge,” she said about her character Nicki. “Who wouldn’t love to go to work in Uggs and very low-slung tracksuit bottoms? The iconic detail of Nicki is her tramp stamp. It’s a lotus flower, a Buddhist-like symbol just above her butt crack. Really classy! “And at one point I told the costume designer, ‘You can see my bra strap in this top; shouldn’t we pin it?’ And she said, ‘No, sweetie—Nicki is all about her bra strap showing.’ I was like, right, okay, different mind-set.” Bless her. You can read more of Emma’s interview in the June issue of W magazine – bound to be a best seller if you ask us!

Alexa Chung vs. Audrey Tautou: Who wore Valentino Red better?

For this week’s fash-off, two beauties from either side of the Channel bring their A-game to rightfully take their place under the style spotlight. Brit beauty, Alexa Chung, and our favourite ‘Coco Chanel’ this side of the 21st century, Audrey Tautou both wore the same Valentino number, albeit  a few months apart. Alexa was the first to take to the red carpet in the pretty tea-length dress at the 2013 Grammy Awards, back in February. Sporting her signature, popping red lips and wispy, swept back locks, Alexa finished off her look with ankle strap crystal pumps, also by Valentino. Second in line to slip into the dress was French beauty Audrey Tautou, who injected a copious dose of gamine charm into the opening photo call for Cannes 2013. Bestowed with the duty of mistress of ceremonies at both the opening and closing of Cannes 2013, Audrey sure took her role seriously in the fashion department, pairing the tea-dress with nude pumps and going virtually makeup free. But who takes the honourable title of fash-off champ? Both ladies went sans accessories, and put their own slant on the dress, but the overall look was a definitively girly one. Although we’re struggling to decide, we’ll have to give this one to Alexa, simply for jazzing up the entire outfit with crystals on her feet and a red pout. The dress is quite a subtle colour, so needs a little lift, and Alexa’s styling does just that. Audrey’s look, on the other hand, was saccharine sweet but a little too washed out for liking. Do you agree with our fash-off verdict?

Nicole Kidman is the new face of Jimmy Choo!

It’s just been revealed that Oscar-winning Aussie actress Nicole Kidman is the new face of Jimmy Choo, and will appear in the brand’s upcoming autumn/winter 2013 ad campaigns. What a great signing! “I’m such a great admirer and feel enormously honoured to be working with Nicole Kidman,” Jimmy Choo creative director Sandra Choi said. “Nicole is one of the finest actresses in the world, who I knew could convey the empowered glamour of the brand. But she is also so nuanced and refined; she brings an attitude of defiance, strength, sensuality and elegance.” We can’t argue with that! Nicole has racked up a pretty impressive set of ad campaigns over the years – from the likes of Chanel No.5 to Omega watches – and we’re almost certain her stint Jimmy Choo will be just as successful. We can’t wait to see the finished result! [Telegraph]

Treat him to… football heroes stamps!

Being a good girlfriend can be tough sometimes, especially as far as fighting over the remote is concerned. If you have been a good girlfriend and let your man watch the footie when his team are playing (even if you’d rather be watching Zooey Deschanel’s latest antics in New Girl) then you’ll know that football season is coming to an end. Great news for you, but it’ll leave a little football-shaped hole in your man’s heart. So, why don’t you treat him to a footie-related present to show him that you do care about him and the sport, and don’t mean to roll your eyes quite as much as you do when he moans incessantly about the ref’s “bad decisions”? We don’t mean buying him an actual football (dangerous around the house) or a full-on kit (we assume he probably has one already anyway and has more than likely bought you your own shirt to wear to the matches) we are referring to the Royal Mail Football Heroes Stamp Collection. This is even more fun if you yourself collect stamps at it means you have yet another activity to enjoy together! As 2013 marks the 150th anniversary of the Football Association and the 140th anniversary of the Scottish Football Association, Royal Mail has picked 11 of the best home international football players to celebrate and immortalise in stamps. And those 11 men are: Jimmy Greaves, John Charles, Gordon Banks, George Best, John Barnes, Kevin Keegan, Denis Law, Bobby Moore, Bryan Robson, Dave Mackay and Bobby Charlton. Do you spot your boyfriend’s favourite player in there? “We realised from the outset that choosing just 11 of the greats who were available for selection would be a difficult task; and one that would lead to much debate – and disagreement – among […]

Hannah Simone ready for summer in Tory Burch

Every once in a while, it’s ok to gush about the simpler side of fashion: i.e. a pretty girl wearing a pretty dress. You don’t need quirky footwear, layers of accessories, an eccentric hairstyle or a controversial clutch bag. Sometimes all it takes for someone to go “ooh, doesn’t she look lovely” is a simple patterned summer dress, some unassuming, non-distracting shoes, and a girl-next-door hairdo. And that’s exactly what New Girl actress Hannah Simone did! Hannah stepped onto the red carpet in an above-the-knee Tory Burch spring/summer 2013 dress to promote the show she stars in with Zooey Deschanel, and we haven’t got a single bad thing to say about it. As it’s not a huge red carpet event, we can see why Hannah decided to keep things simple as far as her accessories (or lack thereof) were concerned. She still manages to steal the show without meaning to, which is why we love it – and her! What do you think? Is this not the most perfect Bank Holiday Monday look?

Valentino PVC Rockstud Shoulder Bag: Yay or Nay?

Deep from the deliciously luxe depths of atelier Valentino, the famed Rockstud is back in a more updated version for spring. Produced in a new season favourite PVC and leather mix, the Rockstud Shoulder Bag dips into the fashion world’s latest affection for all things transparent; from Christian Louboutin’s A-list favourite PVC cap-toe pumps to Charlotte Olympia’s covetable Perspex clutches, chic flash-fleshing is the trend du jour! So when we caught sight of the Rockstud Shoulder Bag in all its nude, tough-luxe, studded glory, and after already haven fallen crazily in love with this leather tote and divine pumps from the same collection, we couldn’t help but size it up for purchasing potential. Valentino wares don’t come in as the most cost-effective purchases in your wardrobe, but it’s a luxe affair, and one that’s sure to bash the bank balance. So, to make the decision easier, we’ve put the Rockstud Shoulder Bag under this week’s Yay or Nay spotlight, and here are reasons for and against indulging in this Italian stallion: YAY 2-in-1 Bag: The removable chain link shoulder strap and Rockstud-adorned front handle instantly transforms this bag into the perfect evening clutch, and we’re suckers for a 2-for-1 fashion situation! Flattering colourway: The soft nude powder leather trim, accented by the gold-tone hardware is sure to sit right with just about every colour in your wardrobe; it’s a chic intervention. Perfect mix of feminine and fierce: Mastering the tough-sweet mix, this bag is ideal for fashion lovers preferring the rebellious side of style. NAY Price: An eye-watering £ 1,130. Yes, we know that painful, defeated-by-the-overused-overdraft look on your face. Transparent: Well, we know the PVC trend is all the rage right now, but do you really want the contents of your bag in full view of the general pubic? Unless […]

We showed you the trailer for her Once Upon a Time… Chanel film a few hours ago, but that’s not the only big Keira Knightley news to surface today. The British actress and her Klaxons fiancé James Righton will be walking down the aisle and saying their “I Do”’s this weekend, and have chosen tbhe South of France as their stunning location. Premature congrats aplenty! “Most of their friends will fly out for the wedding on Friday,” a source allegedly said. “They’ve been planning it for a while but wanted something small and private. They could get married in total private in stunning surroundings.” We do respect their right to privacy, but we will be very unhappy bunnies if we never get to see the bride’s wedding dress. We have such high expectations for it after all the rumours! [Glamour]

People names Gwyneth Paltrow ‘Most Beautiful’

Well Gwyneth Paltrow really is racking up those column inches this week, isn’t she? While she may not have been too fond of the criticism about her clothing website that came about a few days ago, we think she’ll be quite thrilled with the news that she has been voted People’s “World’s Most Beautiful. And she should feel extra privileged to nab the title, because it went to none other than Beyonce last year! Congrats Gwyn! The actress opens up to the mag about family life, her marriage to Chris Martin and letting her daughter wear make-up, and also shares some health and beauty tips too. In other words it’s a not-to-be-missed issue! Amanda Seyfried, Zooey Deschanel, Kerry Washington, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry and Drew Barrymore are some of the other ladies who made it onto the list; the issue goes on sale this Friday, so snap it up quick to find out who else made it on there. Do you agree with People? Do you think Gwyneth Paltrow is the world’s most beautiful woman? [People]
