A bizarre thing has happened. London’s famous shopping hub Oxford Street are putting on the first ever High Street Fashion Week.
Beginning just before London Fashion Week this September, our favourite high street shops will be showing their fall collections during the dates of the all new Oxford Street Fashion Week.
Drapers have reported that many retailers are also said to be taking part in a launch to the event, which is likely to be in the form of a catwalk, promoting key high street trends for the season.

Wow. The London Fashion Week news is coming in thick and fast! Latest revelation: Clements Ribeiro are returning to show their S/S 10 collection after a four year break.
The husband and wife partnership - Inacio Ribeiro and Suzanne Clements - join the likes of Jonathan Saunders and Burberry who are coming back to London for it’s 25th year celebrations.
I for one, am a big fan of Clements Ribeiro, and can’t wait to see what their new collection - showing in the Portico Rooms of Somerset House - brings to London Fashion Week.
I have a feeling this is going to be a memorable season…

Giles Deacon is set to leave London Fashion Week in favour of Paris, to show his S/S 10 collection.
The British designer scooped a £136,932 (160,000 Euro) prize from the National Association for the Development of the Fashion Arts (ANDAM) which will allow him to develop his business in Paris. Previous winners of the prize include British designers Gareth Pugh and Richard Nicoll.
The news follows the revelations that British designers are this season flocking back to London to show their news collections. Burberry, Matthew Williamson, Jonathan Saunders and Pringle are all among those set to return.
So, it’s all change for this season’s LFW, and the news is bitter-sweet. We’re sorry to see you go Giles!

Jonathan Saunders is to show at London Fashion Week.
The Scottish designer is the latest in a string of top designers - including Burberry, Pringle and Matthew Williamson - to return to the British capital for the Spring/Summer 2010 shows in September to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its fashion week.
Jonathan said: “I am absolutely delighted to be returning to show in London this September. London is where I’m based. I have a studio here and it’s very close to my heart and I also have a lot of friends who show in London. Where you show is a combination of where you feel creative and where your business is.”

Forget, NY, Paris and Milan. This September London Fashion Week is where the buzz will be. Why? I hear you cry. Well…we have a little revelation to share with you all…it appears Matthew Williamson is making a comeback to the city.
To celebrate the British Fashion Council and LFW’s 25th anniversary, Matthew Williamson has confirmed he’ll be bringing his collection for Spring/Summer 2010 to London.
Williamson, who usually shows in New York returned to London Fashion Week in September 2007 and brought Prince with him too. His show was talked about for months afterwards and we’re pretty confident he’ll have a treat in store for us this time round.

Burberry will show at the next London Fashion Week as opposed to its’ usual home in Milan.
Burberry will be presenting the Spring/Summer 10 range at London Fashion Week’s new home of Somerset House. Not only that but Burberry will be closing Fashion Week on 22nd September, which will be followed by an exclusive special event. It’s all terribly exciting.
And it’s exciting for two reasons, one is that we get to see Christopher Bailey’s creations up close and personal. And two because it is so important to get the big names back to London. London misses out big time each fashion week, it is glossed over in favour of New York, Milan and Paris where the big design guns reside. Here, we produce the talent, the Alexander McQueen’s and Matthew Williamson’s of this world and then they flee. Vivienne Westwood came back to our shores a couple of seasons ago, but now Burberry as well signals that London is back on the fashion map.

Is there nothing that Giles Deacon can’t do? He has produced yet another stellar catwalk collection. The inspiration behind the show was Giles’ days at Art School, which is why he treated us to creative, punky finishes and expressive outfits. Fabulous hats by Stephen Jones just added to the drama, not forgetting those unbelievable, drool worthy thigh high boots by Christian Louboutin.

Henry Holland is a bit of an anomaly, a fashion journalist who made some t-shirts and happened to be best friends with the ‘It’ model of the moment, who then ended up with his own fashion line.

You can always rely on PPQ to bring colour to Fashion Week. Their Autumn/Winter 09 palette is full of pistachios, oranges, royal blue and very bright reds. I think the best way to describe the collection is Park Lane Princess meets 60s style. The PPQ show is always a star-studded event and sure enough Alexa and Peaches were there, with Daisy, Alice and Pixie strutting their stuff down the runway. But the show ran so late, caused such bedlam that journalists were left really rather displeased. The show ran in Burlington Arcade, where PPQ currently has a pop up shop. This was one of the main criticisms of the presentation, there was no space. Looking at the models, it was surprising they didn’t trip over all those feet and handbags.
